Really loud and obnoxious place. I could barely hold a conversation. Huge TVs for the sports fan, but I just found the whole place annoying. I would have liked to have seen a larger selection of IPAs. They had one or two. Ranch salad dressing was good. One star for that. Kick *ss little microbrewery! German beerhall-style tables and a large beer menu. All of it is brewed in house. My wife and I tried the seasonal witbier and Hefeweizen. Crisp, excellent flavor. We were fortunate in that the brewmaster was kind enough to give us a brief mini tour of the brewery. Overall a great setup. Clean facility and it's obvious they take their work seriously. As for the pub, quiet and easy vibe. Good place to relax and talk with friends. ...... On a side note: there's no grill / no food here. But they allow customers to bring in outside food, and the pizza place next door delivers. read more

Unfortunately the time we were here they were out of some of the beers I would love to have tried but the ones that were available were out standing. Some friends brought me here while we were in Windsor! The beer here is excellent, we got a couple of beers and got some beers to go. I liked the little labels that they had, and the sours were quite good. I also enjoyed sitting out on their patio and sipping beer with some friends. I would give this half a star if it would let me. Today, after seeing that at least four patio tables were available, I went in to place my order. After the barkeep had taken my order, on finding out I was not joining people at a table, I was refused service. On telling him that I would likely always enjoy drinks by myself, and I want to drink now, "what can you offer me?" he offered no solutions of his own thinking. I asked him what his suggestions are (when's a good time to come back), he tells me "during the day". "I work during the day, how about after 5pm?" He tells me how steady they are every evening, and how they do not take reservations, which to me tells me "no, you're not welcome". THIS IS DISCRIMINATORY. Is this part of company policy? People do drink by themselves. We're still in a pandemic, are we getting cozy in each other's laps at shared tables already? A pandemic also means it's a BIG DEAL to leave home, and to do something pleasant, even alone. TO BE REFUSED THIS RIGHT IS APPALLING. I continued to quiz the barkeep on other options. "You can buy beer to take home?". Come on, it's a beautiful day. I want to enjoy a patio drink. (Also, I walked here, I'm not carrying beer home). The least he could have done is pretend to investigate the scene. "Check" to see if any of the small tables would be packing it up soon. A harmless lie of "no, they won't be" would have sufficed. Maybe check with his seated customers if they would offer up one of their available seats to a stranger (it's a pandemic, people would say "sure!"). Nope, none of that happened. Barkeep had nothing and did not leave his spot to try anything. Not even an E for Effort. Note my refusal to call him a "server". Also note that I was so thrown off guard by this experience that I cried by the river for an hour. Given that the positive reviews this establishment received during this pandemic are based on product, I see where your customer service level has been left to cruise and suffer as a result. You cannot hide behind good product. You know who shows exemplary customer service? Madeline at Phog (yes, a different bar). I have seen her create a new spot for an incoming customer by pulling out a foldout table and chairs from inside the bar. She WANTS you to stay. She knows every dollar counts. She's smart, and whoever hired her is also smart. Is this obscenely low customer service level really how you want to enter Ontario phase 2? Are you swimming in enough business to actually refuse customers based on their choice to drink alone? So this half-star I'm giving you - it's for the product I know you have in store. But the four-and-a-half cavities you are receiving alongside this half-star? That is for REFUSING to let me have any of that product, and suffice it to say, I probably will not enjoy it now. I've shared my story. I've got local friends to back me up on this injustice. I hope what I experienced today is NOT the direction or actions of management. For whoever the manager is, please take this review into strong consideration for better service practices. I am otherwise ashamed to be treated so poorly. read more

Very cool brewery located in the lower level of a large building in Windsor. I'm not too familiar with the Windsor beer scene, but the hipsters seem to love this place! This is one of those places where you have to go to the bar to order, which is fine, and our bartender was attentive and friendly. The menu is on the huge chalk board behind the bar and the prices/sizes of each beer are color coded. I liked the simplicity of their pricing scheme, but hard to tell exactly what I was getting as not all beers were named by style. I only stuck around to try two beers, but both were good. I can't recall the names, but one was a black IPA and the other a Cream Ale. Both beer represented their style well, there were no off flavors and the glasses were clean. Coming from an American, the prices were a bit high, but the exchange rate rectified that, so it's not a big deal. I'd like to stop by next time I'm in town and hang out for a bit longer. I liked the atmosphere and I hope to find some beers that stand out next time! read more

I love the expansive creative beer menu. I recommend getting some taster flights so you can try the various flavours to find one you really like. I especially enjoyed the Turbulent Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter and the Red Hot Cinnamon Hearts. This place was so awesome we came back the next day for coffee. I had the pour over: it was citrusy with a sweet finish, no need to add sugar. We bought some howlers too before we left. If you are a beer or coffee lover check this place out. read more

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed here yet. I've stopped by several times when I'm in Windsor and I am always satisfied. My girlfriend likes it a lot too! The bartenders are the most friendly and happy to talk about the beers with you or just shoot the breeze. They have a huge selection of beer for what seems like a small place, and I don't know that I've disliked any of them. They have a lot of very inventive flavors that actually hit the mark without being too overpowering - check out their hibiscus IPA, blueberry wheat, hefeweizen, and feather hat guy IPA. If you don't like any particular beer, there are 29 other ones to try. One of my favorites was the Fine N' Dandy, a belgian saison made with dandelion tea which went to support Cancer research after one of their brewers found out he had esophageal cancer. Not only did it age magnificently but tasted great fresh and went to a good cause. They host trivia and board game nights here and seem to have some pretty cool events. They make a fine coffee when you are headed out too! I haven't tried the pizza here but the location means there is plenty nearby - including Simon's Prime, which does a killer poutine. If you like beer or are having a drink downtown, Craft Heads is worth a stop. read more

Yelp lead us to Craft Heads Brewing company and we were not disappointed. Jessie, our bartender, informed us that they also make great coffee, but on this trip we were more interested in trying their beers. I suggest trying the following beers; chocolate PBR (the R is for raspberry), Blueberry Wheat, Googley Eye PA - Berry Vanilla Milkshake IPA, and my personal favorite Tropical Whirlpool IPA - Mosiac!!! I really enjoy trying out different breweries on work trips. Nevertheless, my expectations when trying out a new brewery are tempered. Most breweries are industrial and some are lined with wood to provide a cabin-like feel and most breweries offer one wheat or pilsner and provide a wide range of IPAs and porters. While Craft Heads offered IPAs and porters, they offered myriad unique takes on light and dark beers and I fell in love with their beer (and beer selection) immediately. The Blueberry Wheat was delicious and offered a strong, but not overwhelming amount of blueberry taste and aroma. And then I had the Peanut Butter, Raspberry, Chocolate Porter.......wow....amazing...delicious!!!! This is one of the best beers I have ever had (although the beer is no longer listed on their website?) Each flavor complements the other in this porter. I had 2 the first night and 3 the second, but I could have had 10 pints of it and never felt tired of the unique tastes in this beer. If I was a kid running for elementary school president, I would promise free Peanut Butter, Raspberry, Chocolate Porter in all of the drinking fountains in the school....and I would win in a landslide! I tried some samples of some of their other beers and liked each quite a bit, including the Motown Honey Brown, Squirrel Nut Brown and Blues Berry Blonde. The staff is friendly (they suggested other breweries in the area to try) and they have plenty of TVs. The atmosphere is relaxed with long tables providing plenty of room for people to socialize. If you are a beer drinker, make Craft Heads your first stop in Windsor. *Tip 1* They have wifi-important for an American crossing the border with no Canadian data plan **Tip 2** They have an N64! This is a great find in the heart of Windsor. My friends and I were visiting just briefly and we wanted a comfortable place to sip drinks before heading to dinner and a night out at the casino. Windsor guys make good carving out a great, niche locale in the downtown area. They have a huge selection of impressive in house brewed craft beers, with something for everyone. Favourites include the Aardvark Blonde and IPAs. As someone who literally never used to drink beer I can honestly say that these guys are amazing at what they do! So many incredibly unique flavours from coffee to blueberry that actually taste as good as they smell. The best part is that you can order a flight of minis to try a few different kinds without committing to a full pint. I love this place! Super chill vibe, many beers on tap, great staff. This place also functions as a great coffee spot. There's WiFi and large tables so it's pretty terrific for studying or getting things done in the day time. I've even seen people bring in board games. I think they also partner with some local places to supply food. I've gotten some Terra cottas pizza delivered from next door. And I meant it about the chill vibe, they're cool with you bringing in food from outside, they just want you to have a good time. They have a pretty large and ever changing selection of beers, which makes it interesting to come to everytime. Tremendously impressed by the quality and quantity of different beers. I've been to small corner breweries all across America and this one truly has every vessel covered. Samples, 10 oz. 16 oz. crowler, growler, beer to go in bottles. Wow. While they have wheat beers I liked- they had different items for IPA and Porter fans. Hidden Gem. Atmosphere was low key and comfortable. Service came with big smiles and great knowledge about the products they serve. Variety offers something for any beer palate (with combinations that I have yet to see in places like Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, etc.) And the 5oz/taste prices are so reasonable that if you don't like what you ordered. There's no sweatin. Just bring a date or a group of friends so you have someone to hand off what you didn't like to. And then they can buy you a 2$ round in return. Heh. Another plus. In the heart of downtown Windsor, you'll find Craft Heads, a small microbrewery, brewing up some of Windsor's best local craft beer. The first time I came here, I remember this place being the old Aardvark years ago. I recently came at the end of May with my boyfriend who loves craft beer and wanted to try this place. He had ordered a couple flights, and was able to get a taste of the expansive and creatively named beer selection. If you are/were from Windsor, you'd understand the majority of them. I myself am not a beer drinker, but I always enjoy the ambiance, the history, the tour that comes with local breweries and microbreweries, especially in my hometown. Luckily for me, they had some ciders available so I could join in for a couple drinks. They also have coffee, which I haven't tried yet, but I am hoping to next time I am home for a visit. This place reminds me of something local out of the movies when you walk down the stairs, the couple times that I have been we're pretty quite, except for the sports games on in the background. The washrooms are fairly clean, and the whole place is very dimly lit for a nice ambiance. read more

You can see where they make the beer and what they use for ingredients. The bartender was super friendly, helpful, and poured more than one perfect beer for me. Great job. They have beer to go too. They have some long community tables and a few separate ones for small groups to hang out. Seats about 50. Everyone was super friendly. Many people came through when i was there and all left happy! You can get really good pizza ordered by the bartender from the pizzeria next door. Mine arrived super hot and was a great tasting thin crust. i had more than i could eat so i shared with a couple at the next table. :) Seriously, go there and hang out for a beer? Stopped by for some dinner and drinks before hitting up the casino. It was a little small, but had open, communal, seating. There are several TVs and board games you can play while you're there. There isn't a kitchen here, but they do order pizzas from next door if you ask and you can always bring in your own food. When it came to the beer, I wasn't blown away. Yes, there are a lot of options and they provide smaller servings so you can have a chance to sample more, but none of the options really stood out to us. read more

Very cool vibe, and friendly staff. Especially cool is the old Nintendo 64 with a stack of games. As for the beer, I was a bit disappointed. I had a milky "Whirlpool IPA" with one of my favorite hops (Galaxy) and it was so bitter it was literally like drinking grapefruit juice. Next I tried another IPA, which was better, but still overly bitter. Last I tried a Porter with a raspberry and jam twist. This was probably the best, but the jam flavor was a bit overpowering. I was very bummed about the beer, because I had great expectations of the place. read more

I used to come here forever ago when it was the Aardvark, and had quietly mourned the loss when it became a clothing store. Just by chance, I learned that it had not only become a brewery (nice!) but that there had been an Aardvark reunion show. Of course... my luck... it had come and gone just weeks before. Not resting on my laurels, I followed their Facebook page and soon discovered that they'd be back by popular demand. I didn't hesitate to book a room minutes later. (I live across the border, and no way was I planning to be in any shape to drive home.) Despite being struck by illness just days before, my mind was set. I was going, even if I needed to be propped up by something at the bar. On the day of, even though the hotel wasn't there 20 years ago, I was able to find Craft Heads on autopilot. My wife was concerned, and asked how I'd find it. They used to say 'There's no place like this place anywhere near this place, so this must be the place'.
