It's a Friday date night and we cruised up north side to check this spot out. The place is a small quaint place with a BYOB license. Parking sucks because you can not park on the residential blocks but hey it's the north side it's expected. Music is good and volume is just right for a night out with your favorite cocktail. Great thin pizza and BYOB! Pizza on the pricier side, but for the freshness of the ingredients and the fact that its BYOB, it makes up for it. A small 14 inch for 6 slices cost about $18. Sit down, but not one with a server. Chill, casual vibe. Came on a Friday night around 8:45 and it wasn't too packed. Parking is difficult given the area. Permit parking on some side streets and pay for park on Division and some parts of Damen. Got the farm to fresh special which was a spinach pesto, goat cheese and tomato. SO GOOD, the crust was crispy and the combination of flavors was amazing. We also ordered the Bacon Bianca. It was tasty, but dry. Ordered a small of each and it was perfect for 4 people. The good: Damn good crust. And good combinations. The bad: Really awful red sauce. Its bland. Like its out of a can. The Ugly: I got oversold by the staff. I said how many pizzas do I need for 2 adults and a small child. The staff member said 1 large and 1 small. We basically stuffed ourselves and had almost an entire pizza left. And their pizzas aren't inexpensive. I will order here again. Its convenient and easy to get to if you live in Wicker Park. But there is better Pizza if you are willing to drive (Coalfire). We had a party of 9. So on a Saturday night it was hard to find a place that wasn't over an hour wait..so we ended up at Craft. I wasn't expecting anything great but was very surprised by how much I enjoyed the pizza. We ordered the Devil in the White City +red sauce and it was simply fantastic. The pizza was firm enough that the toppings didn't fall off when picking up a slice. The crust was cooked perfectly. It was just spicy enough. We ordered 3 pizzas overall & ended up eating all of them. The BYOB is a plus also. It is small though. And pretty warm inside. The service was good & the guys working were very friendly. read more

I dream of their marinara. It is the perfect blend of tangy tomato taste and savory spices. Their crust is crunchy and crispy yet soft where it matters. I wish their margarita had little tomato slices on top - but it tastes so darn good I can deal. I've typically done a basic create your own (something like a mushroom/pepperoni/spinach combo if I remember right) but truly - the sauce and taste of the dough is what keeps me craving it. They're BYOB and have the cutest little patio for the warmer months. The crew working is usually upbeat and friendly. I had been on (what seemed like) a never-ending mission to find my favorite pizza joint in Chicago. Finally found one, and it's Craft Pizza. Born and raised in the east coast made me out to be a snob for a proper NY Brooklyn style pizza- I won't lie... I thought I would never say it but Chicagos got a nice hidden place serving good thin slice pizzas! Hoping to find more hidden gems like this one. My biggest issue with other pizza places I have tried were the cuts and the dough. I absolutely hate it when I'm served a circular pizza ruined by a gridcut! WHY?!! And when the dough is crunchy like a cracker. And don't get me started with deep dish.... But not at Craft, they sliced it up the way it should be!!! A foldable triangle :) They're BYOB, so my partner and I brought a six- pack; were so pleased with the pizza we only got thru one beer each! If you want to see some live action dough throwing by the hot brick oven with some brew of your choice on the side while attempting to slam a whole pie, topped with a stupid grin on your face... this is the place to go! Cannot wait to come back. I judge a good pizza first by going w plain, and it was sooooo good. Cannot wait to come back for that truffle pizza! Sorry no pics! Went here recently in a snow stahm to meet a friend. I didn't realize it was BYOB (ohhhh nooo) but luckily my friend came armed and ready. We went around 5 p.m. (right when it opens) so things hadn't really picked up and we sat at a table. Pretty casual place and they cook your food so you can see it (no loogies will be present). Don't expect table service - you order at the register and wait for your pie (or pies). So in a city full of pizza, how was Craft? Pretty legit. Had that chewy wood fired crust thing going. We did the white truffle pizza (I had to pull the mushrooms off though, ahh sacrifices) and also the Devil in the White City. The DIWC was AMAZING. So spicy and delicious (sweaty face = happy face). I would come back just for this and to try some of the different options (there's quite a few). read more

Ordered through door dash, estimated arrival time 6-6:10, received a text saying they'd received the order but by 6:15 hadn't received any new updates. Checked door dash app to see the status and couldn't find the order so just called Craft to see if they actually had our order (thought maybe it didn't go through and had hungry/tired kids so just had to make sure)...the staff who answered was pretty condescending and rude. Makes me sad. Pizza was apparently just picked up from the restaurant and was on its way, but I didn't know that. The pizza ultimately was pretty good but plenty of solid pizza places in the neighborhood. And I'm sure every place gets its share of difficult customers but I wasn't being one and didn't appreciate being treated that way, so probably won't order from them again read more

Two words. Plain. Jane. That is the Craft pizza my dear friend recommended, for good reason. It was simply perfect. Perfectly simplistic. The sauce is the boss, for sure, but the dough makes it flow (and the cheese is the bees' knees). Does that make sense? A small size was generous for two, and you can happily fold slices (a la NYC). Husband and I enjoyed this place a lot. We got a hipster pizza. It was tasty and the smaller size was plenty, along with a house salad. My husband and I had talked about ordering from Craft for awhile but finally did the other night. We ordered a simple garlic, basil, mushroom pizza and some garlic cheesy bread. When i first opened the box and saw it I thought "ok looks average." My oh my was I fooled. It was absolutely delicious. The ingredients are high quality and it comes through in the flavor. The tomato sauce is fresh, light and so full of flavor. We will 100% be ordering from there again. It may just become our go to pizza spot. Please support them and help keep them open! read more

I am disappointed in this place. After looking at a bunch of pizza spots in Chicago I picked Craft Pizza because it had the best reviews. The pizza itself was good, not phenomenal. Very greasy, a bit too much cheese, which is saying something, who doesn't love cheese? I did a build your own pizza, and they put very little of the toppings I asked for on my pizza. What I am not happy with is the front desk staff was very unpleasant. The girl who picked up the phone was very rude and was not paying attention to what I was ordering, she rudely told me to repeat myself a few times and said i needed to talk louder. When I picked up my pizza they practically threw it at me and didn't tell me my total. Everyone appeared very stressed and busy, one staff member was demanding the employees and they looked overwhelmed. Probably best to get delivery instead of dealing with employees rudeness. read more

The pizza is pretty good. I have ordered it many times but it is near impossible for them to get the order correct. The people they have taking the orders act like you're annoying them to start with. I placed a phone order for pickup last night and the young lady I spoke to was pleasant. The pizza was going to be ready in 15 mins and I was around the corner so I decided to go in, pay and hang out for a few minutes while my pizza was being prepared. There were about 4 tables full with families dining in and the ambiance was ok. nothing too over the top/loud. I waited for about 10 mins after I paid for my order to be prepared. Nothing too crazy. The reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because I felt like the pizza was just OK. I ordered the Craft Margherita and it was flavorful, but I wouldn't rave about it. Also, when my name was called for my order, I walked up to the counter to receive my pizza and I said thank you to the young man who called my name. He didn't have the decency to look me in my eye and respond. I'm not expecting a happy dance and confetti, but geez, be a little more pleasant and say YOU'RE WELCOME when someone says thank you. Manners go a long way. Maybe he was busy, maybe he's just a kid who doesn't respond to people. I'll never know. read more

Very solid pizzas here. Best comparison would be to Coal Fire but Craft's pizzas are offered in several sizes unlike Coal Fire. The crust tastes great and has a good amount of char. Quality toppings. Cheesy garlic bread as a starter was a nice surprise with great taste and a side of marinara to dip it in. Being a BYOB place is nice bonus. Update- Having eaten here several more times, the quality of the pizza (and salads) is consistently very good. However, I can only recommend eating in, their deliveries are done by Door Dash and my pizza arrived cold. Outsourcing delivery of pizza is a mistake in my opinion and for pizza delivery I'd suggest Piece or Roots over Craft, both of which handle delivery much better. read more

I went here with my family a few months ago and was really happy with the experience. The food was delicious and so were the drinks. Pretty nice service! I took one star off because the chef cooked meat and veggies with same utensils, when we clearly said one of us is pure vegetarian. I can't believe I'm actually giving this place a 1, but yes, my experience there was just that bad. I had been wanting to try this place ever since it opened, so I took two of my friends there tonight. I understand that they don't take reservations, but I called ahead to see if there was a wait. There was not. In fact, two tables were apparently open. I asked if Craft took call-ahead seating. It does not. So my friends and I walked very quickly from Six Corners to Craft, which took maybe 10 minutes. When we got there, there was of course no seating. Now, at this point, a restaurant will usually take your name and let you know when a table is available. Craft did not. They simply told us that seating was first-come, first-serve. Okay... We were then handed a menu and advised to order while waiting for a table since the pizza takes 30 minutes to make. Okay, fair enough. For the house pies, you cannot make substitutions. None. Zero. Unless the food is frozen - and it's obviously not - that makes little to no sense. I saw a house pie that I wanted and asked if I could add a topping to it. I was told that wouldn't be possible, either. The girl behind the counter said that the house pies are meant to serve as "inspiration" for a build-your-own pie. Again, that makes no sense. I know which pie I want. Why can't you just throw some prosciutto on there? Also, if you want to build you own pie, you cannot add bacon. This was literally the oddest, most random menu I've ever seen. We end up ordering two pizzas: a small plain jane and a large bacon bianca. I ask once again if we should put our name in for a table. I am once again told that seating is first-come, first-serve. When a table is open, just grab a seat. Okay... My friends and I see that a table of three by the door is putting the finishing touches on their meal - which was good, because everyone else inside the restaurant was just settling in with their BYOB buckets. So we go stand near the doorway - not close enough to where we can hear the conversation of the finishing party, but close enough so that we can pounce as soon as they leave. Well, about 20 minutes later, the table of three leaves, and we sit down immediately. I get up to get the three of us plates and water. By the time I get back, I see that my two friends are standing and looking very confused at someone who I'm guessing is the owner (and if he wasn't the owner, he was very clearly the person in charge). I get back and ask my friends what's going on. Apparently this guy came over and said - pretty rudely, according to my friends - that we couldn't sit there. I asked why. Apparently a party of two ordered their food right before we did and their food was ready, so they were entitled to the table. That's right. It was a table for four, they were a party of two, and seating is first-come, first-serve. Yet they were entitled to the table. At that point, our food was going to be ready within 10 minutes. A quick scan of the room revealed that no tables were going to be even close to open by then, so I was left with no other option. I canceled our order. On a scale of 1-10, my level of anger was a solid 7.5. We hurry to this restaurant; there are no tables; no name is taken; we order (under a set of ridiculously random rules); we're told seating is first-come, first-serve; we grab the first open seat available; and then we're told we can't sit there. Believe it or not, the guy in charge was actually confused and angered as to why we canceled our order. Here's some Restaurant 101 advice: Take reservations. If you don't want to take reservations, offer call-ahead seating. If you don't want to offer call-ahead seating and just have it be first-come, first-serve, don't kick people out of a table after they've been waiting 20 minutes to sit down. And if you're going to do all that, you damn sure better have more seating options than you do - and you don't. I understand that this place is new, but there was zero organization and zero accountability - from anyone. Also, it was really, really hot in there. So yeah, all in all, this was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had - and I ate nothing. For what it's worth, the pizza did look good. Maybe I'll give this place a second shot someday, but I don't know. Piece, Dimo's, Santullo's and a bunch of other pizza places are a five-minute walk from where I live. If you want me to walk 15-20, you need to do a hell of a lot better than what you did tonight. Of course, if tonight was any indication, that's not going to be happening any time soon. read more

Talk about making an impact from the get go. Normally I try not to write reviews until a place has been open for a bit, but Craft Pizza demands to be talked about. For those familiar with Pizzeria Serio in Lakeview, this is from the same people. And if you know Pizzeria Serio, you'd know that it's very good. Well, they have stepped up their game even more for Craft Pizza. One of the things that they have been pushing is their slow rising crust. While I don't know all of the specifics behind it, I do know that the crust is really damn good. What's more, the rest of the ingredients are all top notch. I have yet to do a make my own pie because I want to work my way through all of the house pies. I've done the amore+prosciutto (there was no way for me not to use the prosciutto option) and farm to table so far. I haven't even gotten into the more complex pies and I'm completely in love. The ingredients and sauce are soooo good and it's hard not to just destroy one of these awesome pizzas. They are also BYO and I've noticed that they are very kid friendly when I've stopped in. I really hope that Craft Pizza is around for a long while. This location has been a bit of a bogey location with Bagel on Damen and Haute & the Dog both having been here not too long ago. They are doing everything right so far and I want it to continue for as long as they are willing. read more
