There is something special about CraftWay Kitchen. Admittedly it has been on my bookmarks for quite some time, and I'm disappointed in myself for putting off our first visit. On a typical Saturday evening, CraftWay Kitchen was filled with regulars, apparent by the friendly staff who knew their orders by heart. We started with drinks - an old fashioned and a strawberry lemongrass cocktail. Our waiter made them and they were perfectly balanced, not too sweet. Deciding on an appetizer was hard, but we finally settled on the calamari which was strikingly fresh and paired with two delish aoilis. We ordered the reuben and the grilled salmon for our mains. The sandwich was one of the best we've had and the salmon was cooked perfectly, topped with a downright delicious crab butter. Obviously we couldn't pass on dessert, and the cappuccino pie was the perfect end to a lovely meal. It was clear to me that this is the kind of restaurant that family and friends within the community frequent, and I will surely be one of them! read more

Sunday 2:00 pm - ordered from their Brunch menu. Blackened Shrimp and Cheesy Grits... I think these are the best I've ever had. It was absolutely delicious. Service from Brice was excellent. Noise level was a constant 80 dB... one of the loudest restaurants I've been in. Had light bites and a drink with a gf on Sunday 3PM. Shared coconut shrimp, flash fried asparagus and I had French onion soup. Shrimp were commercial frozen like every grocery store sells. Asparagus was ok and soup was crazy salty. Food was very meh, I was expecting better. We both had pineapple martinis, they were fine. Service was average and friendly. Sat on the patio, pleasant with lots of fans. I would return for a drink but it wouldn't be my pick. Ton of great food close by. read more

Seriously totally enjoyed dining al fresco here. The weather was warm 70s, with a slight breeze, so no need for heaters. Met up here with girlfriends for weekday lunch, 11:30 was the best time. You could have your choice of table before the lunch rush. I was eyeing the chicken and fig sandwich and substituted the steak fries for grilled broccolini. I loved that the broccolini was perfectly cooked with quite a crunch to it. Paired it with a hot tea. My friends ordered the Tuesday special chicken pot pie and the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. Here's the kicker. We all split a bread pudding with ice cream for dessert. AND it came with a shot of bourbon. We were all lightweights here so two of us tried a small sip of the bourbon.. LOL. The wait staff was amazing and very attentive to our needs. This is a fun casual place with friendly folks. The food was good, we specifically really liked the crab stuffed mushrooms.

We visit CW every handful of months and they deliver every time. We went this past weekend for a Father's Day Brunch (yay, me!) and ordered a couple of specials - the 1/2 lb crab cake and the short rib. The crab cake ($21) was outstanding - almost no filler with a great sauce. The short rib ($28) was cooked perfectly and the gravy had a bunch of cherries that matched surprisingly well with the meat. I am always on the quest for an excellent restaurant. I had a meeting not far from Craftway Kitchen and decided to stop in for lunch today. I was certainly pleasantly surprised! It was delicious! The restaurant is tucked into a shopping center off Preston road. It's next to Beerhead bar and eatery. They have seating out on the patio under a covered pergola which I decided to sit at since it was a unseasonably cool day. It was a pleasant environment with music and extremely friendly staff. I had a mojito which was perfectly made. It was really the perfect combination and so yum. For lunch I had the crab cake which is jumbo lump crab over a lemon butter sauce and served with grilled asparagus. It was absolutely delicious! The lemon butter sauce was delicate and complimented the crab perfectly. The grilled asparagus perfectly cooked and had a perfect accompaniment with the crab. It is on the weekly special, if you stop by I highly recommend giving it a try! The decor of the restaurant is simple, certainly not extravagant or over the top. Being a designer I'm always looking for the wow factor. This place is simply done, I believe people come here for the food, perhaps not as much for the ambiance. My server Emem was extremely helpful and had great suggestions, great follow-up. It was quite difficult to decide what I wanted since the menu is quite extensive, there were so many things on the menu that sounded appealing. This place has been on my to try list soon, I had the grand marnier French toast with cheesy potatoes and added eggs & my friend had the chicken club with fries. We both had pineapple mimosas & I also had a frose which was good. The food was good & unique. The atmosphere was nice and we sat outside. Patio was completely covered so it wasn't too hot Our server was super nice and attentive. There was no wait despite it being a nice crowd. I truly enjoyed it & will be back. 4 stars only bc they left the bacon off the chicken club and I had to ask for it. Plus I didn't sit inside so I can't include the inside ambiance to my rating. Took a trip to HEB and wanted something good to eat after. CraftWay Kitchen was right there. I went before years ago and it was good then so it should be good again, right? Right. I started off with a frozen French 75 during happy hour for $7 which was delicious. Just the right amount of lemon and bubbles. Next I had the salmon BLT that came with fries. I was soooo pleased with it. The salmon was juicy and well seasoned. It hit the spot and I wasn't super full after. I did get another Frozen French 75 though. The service was great and all the staff were pleasant. The dining room wasn't too packed but it was definitely a cool vibe for a Friday afternoon. read more

I don't know if I should comment on the size of the French toast first or the cheesy mushroom potatoes. I literally had those potatoes and a week later when I returned home to MD I was still thinking about them, so much that I tried to recreate them. Then the French toast at first you look at the menu and you're probably like it's just French toast, but then when it comes to you and you see that it's Fred Flinstone sized, it all makes sense. It included a gift certificate. So we finally went back to use the gift certificate. And had a completely different and much better service experience. We both ordered the steak. I've given CraftWay in Plano multiple chances, and every time, I leave feeling disrespected and singled out. Most recently, after I had already closed out my tab, a manager waited until then to tell me I had been "disrespectful." I was shocked--they never brought up any issue during my visit. The manager I spoke with, Drew, tried to downplay my concerns by saying we were "probably the same race," which felt completely dismissive and tone-deaf. Then another manager, Bri, stepped in only to further brush off what I was saying, making it clear they weren't taking me seriously. I've dealt with a lot in my life, including immigration struggles, and I don't take accusations like this lightly. I've never caused problems. But somehow, I've been treated unfairly here time and time again--while my white friends have never experienced any of this. I can't help but feel like I'm being targeted or profiled because I'm Hispanic. It's incredibly disappointing, and I won't be coming back. read more

Such a cute spot for lunch, it was 90% packed when we went in on Wednesday at 12pm. I think we came during a rush so our main entrees took a little bit to come. Food was delicious! This is our second time here and it's always packed! It's not too loud and there are plenty of drink and food options. Espresso martini - wonderful. Can't go wrong here Frozen Paloma - way too grapefruit-y for my taste. If you don't like a lot of grapefruit, don't get this Salad - 10/10. The tuna is so fresh and great! The attention to detail in the food and service? Remarkable. Brunch. We are almost savory over sweet, but at the gentle encouragement of our waiter, I tried the pineapple martini. Im not going to lie- it was eye-catching, and I noticed it at a couple of tables on the way in. Worried it would be too sweet, but No! It was a true (and large) martini with pineapple juice and pineapple-infused vodka. The acid perfectly cut the sweet. The cherry at the bottom created a gorgeous pink swirl on top of the foam. My husband, a Bloody Mary fan, claimed that this one stacked up favorably to his previous restaurant fave. The 1/2 order blue cheese chip appetizer. Our waiter brought out Crystal Hot sauce, and he was right! Oh my. Ohhhh myyyy. Could only eat a couple - wanted to save room for the main course, but hubby polished them right off. Wow! Shrimp and Grits? We are HUGE fans and this one was beautiful and tasty. The peppercorn sauce on the side and the thoughtful glaze of maple around the edges shows the perfect attention to detail. Crème Brûlée French Toast infused with Grand Marnier and topped with maple glazed bacon? I managed three bites, but each bite was a symphony! Salty, Sweet, Savory. Perfect balance. The custard penetrated mostly around the edges. Toward the middle was fluffier. I love custard l-forward french toast, but even some of my own family members prefer the dryer. Perfect compromise. We had always planned to share, so we did swap, but Mitch, our waiter told us that they will present shared portions to the table, so next time, we will simply ask them to do that for us. Next weekend is a big wedding anniversary for us, and we are pre-celebrating a little. We did not even mention that, yet we felt spoiled as if we had! Can't wait to bring our kids (grown) back with us. Again and again. Bre was an awesome manager. I was told about this place by my care taker. I decided to come here for late lunch today. It's located near Kenny's Burger Joint and Bread Winner. To me, it's very fancy inside and so is the menu. I decided on crab cake which was a featured menu item today and a side of steak fries. My husband decided on crab stuffed mushrooms, French dip sandwich with garlic mashed potatoes. One thing I must mention is that our server, Jennifer, was impeccable. We felt like we were at a five star restaurant the way she served us. We were so impressed. She even let us try their fried calamari for us to try!!!(It was good with spicy Russian sauce and lemon caper sauce). She's amazing!! The service was great, we told her it was our first time and she took her time to explain the menu and gave recommendations. We ordered spinach dip, french dip sandwich, and cajun shrimp pasta. Everything was great overall but the spinach dip wasn't my favorite and I think it's because of the chips, they were heavily seasoned chips, I think plain tortilla chips would be better... too many clashing flavors. read more

We popped in here for dinner while in the area primarily because of the Yelp reviews and because they have vegetarian and vegan options per Yelp. If you are vegan please note: there are options but you must ask because this is not clear from the menu. There were little to no vegan options shown but when I asked I was told that everything was made to order and any of the ingredients can be removed or substituted. Great news for those non- meat eaters out there! My husband had the French onion soup and Reuben. He reported 5-stars on both! Said the soup was easily one of the best he has eaten. The Reuben was reportedly delicious too. Both of his dishes were piping hot! I opted for the off-menu Impossible burger with lettuce, tomato, and mustard. It was also very tasty. The bun was toasted to perfection and the burger juicy. I opted for broccolini instead of fries and it was a bit disappointing. Very little seasoning. Overall my dish was more of a 3.5 and my husbands a 5 so I landed on a 4. My food was not hot and was actually just a little warm. That plus the lack of seasoning are really driving my rating. We sat at the bar (by choice) and had good service. We will definitely return. read more

***UPDATE*** Went back today and we had a great experience! I wish I could remember our server's name. She was fantastic! Super nice and very accommodating. She made me a blackberry lemonade mocktail. It was delicious! The crab stuffed mushrooms are great! Real lump crap and not a bunch of breading like a lot of places. She brought us some deviled eggs to try and they were so good!!! The chicken and waffle is really good! I definitely recommend! The breading on the chicken tenders was really good and they weren't greasy at all. The waffle was fluffy and delicious! It comes with syrup and gravy. The gravy is special. Really flavorful without being extra salty. Has a really special taste. The candied bacon is a nice touch. Boyfriend had the bacon and egg burger and said it was it was great! Was a perfect day for patio dining and we had a wonderful experience! I wouldn't go back here unless someone really wanted to go and I'd order something safe like a salad. The service was good enough. The calamari was all breading. The actual calamari was so thin inside the breading it couldn't be tasted. Not sure why they'd serve calamari with aoli. Not a good pairing. I ordered beef Wellington and it was not very good. It tasted reheated. For $38 at lunch I would hope it would be a tender filet cooked properly. It was not. It even appeared as if it had been sitting out for a while. My lunch companion ordered the Rueben. She didn't much enjoy that either. She had to pull half the bread off of it because it was hard and the corned beef has a strong smoky flavor. Some people probably enjoy that, but it made it taste more like a bbq sandwich. About two bites of her sandwich had sauerkraut on it. Super loud place. No music for ambiance, just people talking over each other. Rather unpleasant. Overall not worth the money and I may call it mediocre. read more

Hubby and I returned to Craftway Kitchen after we were offered a complimentary gift certificate after a previous bad service experience. We arrived for Saturday brunch, and were seated inside. Our server was great this time, but the food was mediocre. Hubby and I started with cranberry and orange bellini. While it may be a plus to some folks, but both drinks were pure Prosecco with no fruit flavor. The beignets were flat and chewy, not light and fluffy. I had the breakfast pot pie, which is essentially scrambled eggs, a small amount of sausage and potato, and a lot of creamed gravy under an undercooked puffed pastry. Hubby's shrimp and grits were so salty that it was not enjoyable. Hate to say that our second chance visit only improved with the service, but not the food. read more
