This place is horrible. I bought my M3 brand new in 2009 and got hit in early January or 2010. The repairs took 3 months, and 40,000$. I had several concerns going in, mainly that there were several glass nicks and cuts throughout the car from the shattered windows. None of the nicks were fixed....this on top of several other issues. Despite paying a 150$ glass clean up fee (titled so on the invoice) there was still glass in the stitching on the seats. It was ridiculous. The car was, overall, dirty. I've paid for better detailing at Metro Pointe parking structure. What a disappointment!!!! I even bitched about how dirty it was once I got it home and realized how poorly everything had been done. So after this, I took the car back in for further detailing, and it came back in the same sorry ass state. Total nonsense that the car would come back dirty. On my way back into have the car re-detailed, the passenger vanity light fell out and was dangling from a wire...after paying 400$ to have said light "fixed." This place is a joke, and I hope you all go elsewhere for your repair work...run far, far away from Sterling Collision center!!!!! read more

Due to my location they agreed to pay for the local Toyota shop to fix the head light. Come to find out the wrong headlight was installed. This month alone I have had to return the car twice due to it not being fixed correctly and the first time by Sterling. I would not let them touch my car again!! read more

I took my car in for a repair of the rear quarter panel and replacement of the door outer. The service here was excellent, and the quality was great. There was just one problem. TIme. If you can wait for THREE MONTHS for your car to be repaired. Take it here. They will do a great job. However, when you were quoted for six to eight weeks, this is a bit annoying. Especially so because when you had the car built on a special order, they were able to stamp the metal, assemble the car and ship it FROM EUROPE in only 9 weeks, and that was on a waiting list. A friend of mine asked me if I had ever used this place and I said yea - and I could not recommend them. I realized I have not YELPED them. I got in a bad accident with my 545 years ago, and we came to this place as they were ' bmw certified' whatever. It was completely meaningless. They took 5x longer to fix it then they said, LITERALLY and somehow didn't actually replace everything because after I got my car back slowly slowly things started really falling apart, and I was told by EVERYONE that it was all stuff that should have been replaced by Sterling. Some items were listed as replaced - but if you are not an auto expert, are you really going to be able to get your invoice of work done and put it through the test of what was ACTUALLY done. All I know is it took forever, customer service was non existent and things weren't put back together they way they should have. Will never. ever use them again. read more

I had my 2010 Subaru Forrester repaired at Sterling during the week of May 7th. I was in a minor accident on the 5 FWY in bumper to bumper traffic. BOTH my front and rear bumper covers were damaged. My car was in repaired over a 4 day period. When I picked up my car I was amazed at the quality and paint finish because my color is charcoal and it is very hard to match! Everything was taken care of from contact with my Insurance and other parties' Insurance to obtaining a rental car. I was thoroughly explained the repair process step by step and what to expect if there might be a delay in getting parts from Subaru, which I was informed was common. It was nice to know that a business was not afraid in setting my expectations and then kept in close contact with me during the repairs. The facility is amazing and all of the amazing cars (Audi, Bentley, Ferarri, Porsche..) made me feel like I was far more capable hands than what my Suby would need! Bottomline is this place is 1st CLASS and the staff absolutely knows what they are doing without a shadow of a doubt. I have many friends with very nice vehicles...but I would tell anyone to use Sterling are their repair facility of choice!! read more

A few years back, we were driving from a concert in San Jose to Sacramento when a nonattentive driver (he was texting) rear ended our Cayenne S. The damage was limited to the bumper so we were able to drive the smooshed Porsche down to a local repair shop. Sterling Collision Center took care of the body work as well as coordinated payment with both of the affected insurance parties. I do remember that the process took longer than we had hoped. But we didn't have any expectations for when the work was going to be done and we had other cars to drive. Somebody wrote up that a Sterling experience is a hit or miss. Our overall experience was positive - staff responsive, etc and so I feel obligated to leave a positive review. Was the positive smooshed Porsche experience a luck of the draw? Perhaps. Then again, I usually do OK at the Blackjack tables. read more

I have an Audi A5 and brought my car here for some damage to the drivers side, from the door back. At first I took it to a body shop that I love and they told me they would not touch my A5 as it is a specialty car, and that I should call Audi and see where to take it. They said many places will take it but not do everything right. I called Audi and they said Sterling Collision was the only place to take it. The girl who hit me thought my car was gonna be about $2000. I told her it would be about $8000 (just so you can kind of get a picture of the extent of the damage). It was a large amount of money's worth of work because of electronics and things in the door. I was assigned Heidi, and she was great. She was easy to communicate with, super friendly, thorough, smart...I can't say enough good things about her. Ray is also super nice. My experience was an excellent one. The total was $10,500. Insurance was a breeze. Everything Heidi said happened. My Audi is like new. You absolutely cannot tell a thing happened to it. My car came back on time and clean. Everything in it was still in it all packed in a neat little box in the trunk. I don't know why there are so many bad reviews here, to be honest, it kind of scared me prior to me getting it fixed, but Audi swore this was the best place to go. I think like in anything if you stick to what a place specializes in (Audi, Bentley, BMW and I forget what else) then you have a better chance of success. In my case, this held true. I'm lowering my rating down to 1 star. A few weeks after picking up the vehicle, I ended up getting a check engine notice. I took it to the dealership to have it checked out. When they installed the front bumper they did not install the air bag sensors correctly and the wires were misrouted. I ended up having to pay $389 in labor for them to diagnose the issue. So with the new issue and the car rental fees that I had to pay for them keeping the car so long, I'm now out $800. I've called the owner multiple times and he's always "in a meeting." read more

I proceeded with the repairs to my vehicle with the adverse driver's insurance carrier, Anchor General Insurance, whom is a nightmare to deal with. Luckily, my customer service advisor, Charlie Camacho, was tenacious throughout every step of the process. We have had my wife's 2004 Audi S4 repaired here twice. The place has done flawless work twice. That's the short version (see below for why Sterling can take longer to fix your vehicle during Insurance cases) Here's the long version. We ran into the garage with a bike on the bikerack, so lets say 5mph or so, enough to rip the Thule roofrack feet right off the car and scratch the sh!t out of the top and upper door frames. I had never had bodywork done in Irvine so I looked up several places online and then I called the Audi dealership who recommended Sterling as their only authorized repair place for leased vehicles. We went to 5 places including Sterling so I could have a look around. They ranged from terrible, with torn open parts boxes resting on cars and disassembled parts stored on top of vehicles...to Sterling Collision. The place is immaculate. I made them tour me around the entire facility and everything is clean and well lit. Each bay has its own tools and parts removed from cars are wrapped and carefully stored in enormous boxes along the walls. The paint booths are nicer than I've seen at any body shop before. So we brought the Audi to Sterling and we got it back brand new. You can't imagine the critical eye I have for these sort of things, but the paint and bodywork were better than I could have hoped for. Two years later I defy you to find the damage, because I cannot. This year the same Audi went front bumper to front bumper with a PT Cruiser at about 15mph. Obviously I called my insurance company first, then Sterling. The girl at fault had Farmer's who came to our house to write up an estimate and I think it was about $1500 and one week. There was damage to the bumper and a tiny bit on the hood, and the left headlamp was scratched. This is an S4 so you know nothings getting fixed for $1500! They also told my wife (I was at work) that Sterling sucked and we should go elsewhere. When we took it to Sterling they were awesome again. They warned us that it would take much longer than estimated by Farmers and explained why. Farmers writes it up with all refurbished or aftermarket parts. Sterling says the car needs OEM but Farmers argues. Sterling installs the parts as authorized by Farmers...then tells Farmers the car cant be delivered because the parts dont match OEM. Then Farmers breaks in and authorizes OEM, and finally Sterling does the job right. This takes time people...way longer than the paying insurance company wanted it to take. $4500 (from Farmers) and 3 weeks later the car looks (NO JOKE) better than it did before the wreck.. When it happened my wife wasnt mad, but she wasnt really happy. After Sterling fixed the car, I swear we were almost grateful for the accident. Icing on the cake: There was another dent in the hood from some road debris many years ago and since the hood was being repainted by Sterling we got an estimate (for $150) and decided to pay to have it removed while the bodywork was being done. When we picked up the car they did not charge us (or Farmers) to remove the dent. That's why they get my first ever Yelp review. If you have a badass car you love and someone does it wrong (even if it's you), do yourself a favor and let Sterling fix it. My only criticism? The lobby/waiting room is basically a few chairs in front of the front desk and the fumes in there have been so bad at time I thought the receptionist should have passed out or at least had a headache. Note that has nothing to do with the repair of the vehicle! :) read more

This review concerns their lower level staff. Because of them, I think the establishment should be on a "DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH" list. Their staff is unprofessional as it gets. McDonald's staff is more professional and pleasant to deal with. The are so screwed up, they don't know who is doing what, what's been done or not, what needs to be done. Hi fellow Yelpers! Here's part 3 of the update! Robert Anaya called me earlier in the day and hit my VM as I was unable to tend to the phone. It was very detail oriented and mainly focused on updates and a request to email me photo updates. Which is great because now I have pictures to show my partner. You know how girls are! They love to see pictures, Pinterest, Yelp Foods, LookBook.. List goes on... Anyway, some hours later I received an updated email. He spoke with the insurance and they've approved the inspection. They promptly removed all of the pieces to inspect underneath and make sure that everything is done properly and to BMW Factory standards. I used to manage an Accounts Receivables call center for a very large social media company in Silicon Valley and trust me when I say this... It is a ton of work to handle multiple cases on a step by step basis and contact each client on a routine basis. There's no way to do it without a proper CRM system and by the way they work.. I am certain they've incorporated some kind of CRM to keep things in line here. It also takes someone with a great deal of knowledge that knows how to use the system, to use it productively. Well first thing, the car has only been there for 1.5 days. The first day Geico wasn't getting back to any of us so pretty much couldn't do anything without their authorization. The second day, Geico finally got back to Sterling Collision Center. They've completed the preliminary inspection as well as the secondary where they remove the damaged parts. This allows the professionals to get down to the bare bones and inspect the unibody and suspension as well as anything else that the accident could've damaged. The email included very detailed TEXT and photographs of the removal. Also bonus shots of a door ding and another picture of a scratch on the rear bumper that I believe was already the prior to the accident. Robert Anaya and his team, out of courtesy will be repairing it. Such a wonderful thing to do, my partner will be so happy about that! Definitely above and beyond so far. We have an estimated time of repair to be within 20-25 days minimum. Which is perfectly fine with us. The date could be pushed back depending on insurance and parts. I've noticed a lot of Yelpers complaining about time estimates not being exact. Keep in mind that if you are going through insurance, insurance wants to know where exactly EVERY SINGLE PENNY IS GOING TOWARDS. Imagine insurance companies as if they were your wife. *Oh, your thingymajigger broke and you need a new one? How bad do you need it? Okay, well can you wait a few days? No?.. Well, okay hrmmm.. Can't you just fix what you have? How about check for a cheaper one. No? It might jeopardize the integrity of the what? Okay fine if you really need it, here's the money. Go buy it and show me the receipt*. So yeah, estimates are just estimates. I don't want to rush the professionals that are repairing the car my partner drives to work everyday. Take your time and cross your T's, dot your I's. I want it to come back 100% safe so that we can have peace of mind. From all of the things that I have witnessed so far, I would have to say that I have total confidence at the current moment. They are definitely on the ball and I feel as if this is the Nordstrom's of collision repair. Seriously, I am not even kidding. I hope that Robert Anaya's work will also translate into those who do the repairs and paint of the vehicle as well. But hey, they paint Porsche's, Ferrari's and Lamborghini's everyday. So I am pretty confident it will be great. One of my things though is not how the race starts, it's how the race is finished. So for tonight, this Yelp review is done. I recently dropped off my 2009 BMW M3 off for an insurance claim. The front bumper and fender needed to be painted/repaired. I dropped the car off with a little under a half talk of gas, the difference in miles when I picked it up was 20 miles more than when it was dropped off, the person I was working with mentioned they drove it to Sterling BMW in Newport Beach for an alignment. Now when I picked up the car the car had a range of 9 miles until empty, when I brought it to the attention of the shop, they agreed to put gas in the car, but then the person with the gas card wasn't there?... so when I go pump gas in the car, im looking at the average mileage per gallon indicator and its reading 10.1MPG which only leads me to believe that they must have driven the car very hard in those 20miles.. im pretty disappointed because I took my car to this shop because of their good reviews and because I didn't want to take M3 to just another body shop. Not to mention ,when I dropped the car off I mentioned a scrape on the R/L quarter panel and it was never painted or cleaned up because they "didn't know" when I specifically mentioned it when dropping it off... all in all, the body work looks ok, I wouldn't say its spectacular, the body line on the bumped doesn't match 100%, but no one is perfect and after all the car was in a wreck. UPDATE Dec 12, 2014 I got a call yesterday from Sean Russell with Sterling. He said the parts arrived for my vehicle. I brought the car in this morning and Sterling took 30 minutes (very quick) to make the repairs. Sean went through what was done and when I got home and out of the rain, I inspected the car in my garage and everything appears to be correctly repaired as stated. Also, at the end, he apologized and said the owner saw the yelp review and wasn't happy. Sean offered no excuses. Just said that they could have done better. Wow! I was expecting something like, "We didn't hear back from the adjuster...we were busy...the part was backordered...Tiffany went on maternity leave....I'm new here...blah...blah...blah..." Just a sincere apology and he got it fixed. I rarely up from one to four stars but the end result turned out much better than expected. read more

She is experienced, thorough, and knows A LOT about cars and insurance. I went back for my parents' camry, which got hit while parking. It is currently being repaired. I was referred to this place by the Audi dealership as a certified Audi collision shop. I definitely know why they are the certified shop of Audi. The service is impeccable. Before I even got there, I received a call from Christina who explained everything to me and made an appointment for me to come in. Upon arrival, I filled out some nominal paperwork and I was on my way to the rental car agency. Ok, so I have read some reviews on here about how long it takes to get your car back. WHO CARES. Do you want the repairs done quickly or do you want quality work that takes a bit of time? I got continual updated emails from Christina which was so awesome. The day I got my car back, which was a little over a week, I looked around at the shop. This place is spotless and I've never seen such a big operation. Very impressive shop inside. The quality of cars that come through here is amazing. Mclarens, Audi's, Lambos etc. That alone was a huge selling point for me. So my car rolled up and it looked like it was straight out of the showroom. Washed, waxed, even vacuumed inside. Great detail I might add. I bet James Hunt and Niki Lauda would have brought their cars here back in the day. read more

I got in a mini accident about a month ago and it was not my fault. I have only had my car for 3 months which sucked! I went through AAA insurance and they gave me 4 options to choose from and i choose this place based on the reviews i saw. Tiffany helped me in the beginning to drop off my car and get some paper work done before leaving. She explained the process to me and told me i would be updated throughout. i was so upset about not having a car for a couple of days but they offer enterprise rental cars and people from enterprise can come pick you up and take you to get a rental car which is so conviennent. After a couple of days, Katelyn emailed me and kept me updated every time my car was going through a certain process. She was able to have my car ready by Friday (today) after i had dropped it off on Tuesday! I was worried that my car wasn't going to be fixed for some reason. I came in today to pick it up and my car literally looks like I just bought it! They gave it an amazing car wash, fixed the spots that were hit, and even vacuumed it. I was honestly so surprised at how good my car looked. Katelyn is such an awesome employee there and i recommend asking for her if you ever need any help. She makes you feel so welcoming and she is so helpful and keeps you updated at ALL times. She provided the best customer service that i've seen in a while. Thank you Katelyn for the awesome service and thank you sterling collision center for literally making my car look brand new! I recommend this place to anyone that needs it!! TLDR: By far the best auto-body repair shop I have worked with. Ever. Full review... I have a first-gen Porsche Cayman. Yeah, it's no turbo or GT3, but still something I love to drive and take care of. My driver's side fender and door were damaged by a cyclist some time ago and my insurance said that Sterling was their recommended shop for high-end sports and luxury vehicles. After working in the auto industry for many years you become skeptical of everything. Since insurance was covering a majority of the work. Of the shops my insurance recommended Sterling had the best reputation & reviews. My initial estimate and review was with Christine. I have to give an 5 stars on customer service. She kept my insurance updated every step of the way. My car was ready one day late, but they were happy to wait until the following Monday. The amount of work done covered the front bumper, front hood, front-left quarter-panel, left door, and left-rear quarter panel. There was prior damage and touch-ups all around that an almost 10-year-old car would need (rock chips, etc) so I had them do it all at once. Might as well, right? I'm glad I made the choice. Now the paint all-around looks like a 9.9 out of 10 and I couldn't be happier. The best part was their attention to detail. So many things were given back "better than before". - The inside left door-handle was repaired: The cable had loosened causing the handle to 'flop' around. - The cigarette lighter magically re-appeared in the center-console: Not sure if I even had one? - The power-window switches were popped back into place: They had previously been dislocated. The only down-side was the tint on the left-side rear quarter window had been scratched. Christine was more than happy to have their window tint vendor repair/replace the tint to make the job complete. I believe it's complimentary to get a wash & detail when your car is serviced so not only does the damage get fixed but your car comes back clean, inside and out. Overall, 5/5 and I would recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Sterling contacted me stating that my review below was false. So let me clarify, everything below is based on a conversation I had with Fernando at Sterling Collision on Friday, June 17, 2016. When I spoke to Fernando he assured me that they are a Certified BMW Repair shop, but they are NOT listed as a Certified BMW Repair Shop on the BMWUSA.com website (I will post a screenshot from the BMWUSA.com to back this up). State Farm strongly recommended Sterling, but in talking to Fernando I realized why: State Farm can force this shop to use USED or REFURBISHED parts on your car. Be aware, as a consumer you can choose which collision center you take your car to and demand that they only place new parts in your car. A body shop that wants your business is able to either lower the price of getting the new parts installed to match the cost of used parts (which other collision centers offered to do). The only reason State Farm lists these guys on their "awesome" approved collision center list isn't necessarily because these guys do such a great job restoring your vehicle to its pre-collision state - The real reason is because Sterling (and other shops contracted with State Farm) is in State Farm's good graces because they are looking out for State Farm's financial interests over the consumers. To be clear, by repairing your vehicle with used parts (e.g. from some totaled vehicle sitting in a junk yard) they save State Farm money. So then Fernando tells me he can repair my car with new parts but I (NOT STATE FARM) will have to pay the difference. So I ask Fernando, can I know what that difference is before I decide to go with Sterling (vs. another center that offered to put in NEW parts at their own expense or State Farm's expense). Fernando's response blew my mind: NO, we need to take apart the car to give you an estimate on how much you would have to pay for new parts. And if you don't like our estimate you have to pay us for taking apart the car and putting it back together again. WOW! That is like going to a surgeon and him saying he has gotta cut you open to figure out what to charge you for the surgery. Let me tell why I believe collision centers insist on taking apart your car - it is because they can discover new things to repair and charge for. These guys are experts at fixing cars, so they probably know exactly what parts are damaged on a minor collision. On a major collision with frame damage I could understand if there is some things that need to get figured out, but once again, they have computer programs that break down all the parts and labor required to repair all the particular sections of each car. It is hard to determine who to ultimately blame for this situation. State Farm takes our premiums every month - but when you buy their policies they do NOT tell you that when you actually need your $70k car repaired their adjusters will be forcing the shops they recommend to put used parts in your car (in addition to some new part if they can't find the part you need used). Sterling is doing what State Farm demands of them to stay a "preferred collision center." But they owe it to their customers to tell them about the used parts (something that they and other shops are NOT upfront about) and give them a precise cost to switch to new parts without tearing down the vehicle. It is important to note, that after speaking with Fernando I decided against having Sterling take apart my car to provide me with an estimate. My review is however, based on my experience dealing with this Collision center directly and getting enough information from their employee to determine that they really don't care about me vs. State Farm. I will also say that I am sure all State Farm approved centers will also repair your car with USED parts - and the worse part is most consumers don't know any better. But I have come across a couple collision centers that have promised me in writing to repair my BMW with ONLY NEW PARTS at THEIR EXPENSE. These other collision centers have gone so far as to say that if the State Farm adjuster finds cheaper used parts and tries to force them to put these cheaper parts in my car, then they will instead buy NEW parts and absorb the cost difference as a part of earning my business... all this without tearing apart my car. That is the kind of service all of our deserve. To the owners of Sterling, I am simply very disappointed in how I was dealt with when I called to do business with you. I also feel that the public deserves to know their shine cars are may be repaired with some parts that may have been sitting is a junkyard somewhere. It is plain and simple NOT fair that State Farm and their approved/preferred collision centers are concealing this information from consumers. Lastly, being a Certified BMW Collision Repair Center is NOT THE SAME thing as just having "BMW Trained and Certified Technicians" - as stated on your website. read more

Sterling turned a negative (we ALL hate it when our beautiful vehicles are damaged!) and turned it into a positive. My car looks great. I am very particular (one might say "picky") and I could not tell that any work had been done on my car. It was perfect. Now if Sterling gets 5 stars, I have to make it 6 and add one more for Ray Shahi. Talk about "customer service," one couldn't ask for better. Would I recommend Sterling Collision Center? I was recently in an accident in my brand new (sad face) BMW 328i GT. Immediately after my accident I had my car towed to Sterling Collision Center by recommendation of my sales rep at Sterling BMW. Not only are they AAA Preferred, but the dealership specifically said this is the place to go. Once my car was checked-in, I received all my paper promptly but was quoted a little over a month for the competition. Apparently, the parts come from Germany and are not as easy to source as most BMW parts. Granted, the quote time was long, but I knew it was in good hands. Quite frankly, I'd rather wait 2 months to get my car and have it done right than to have a crappy job done fast. Once my vehicle was done (which was 1 week before my quoted date), they detailed it, washed and waxed it. It looked so perfect when I picked it up - like the accident never happened. Truly, exceptional work. I want to specially name two gals who were so gracious, understanding and professional; Tiffany and Kaitlyn. They made a crumby situation a little less terrible. You've got take your car to Sterling. Katelyn and Tiffany were amazing. They emailed every few days with updates on your, made you feel welcome and comfortable, and gave back a car that looked better than when it arrived (though I guess that's the point) Only thing I didn't like about the while situation is that they only do body work. If they were a mechanic shop for Toyotas then I would take my car back there regularly. Thank you for everything Katelyn and Tiffany, I'll spread the good word to everyone I can. read more

Update: The morning after I posted the original review, the following happened: - I got a call from my adjuster saying they heard back from the shop that the check is ready. I could have the check the following day. (Totally shocked and stoked!) - I received an email from Robert saying my check is ready. - I received a voicemail from Sean Russell (really nice guy) to take apologize for the lack of communication, that the adjuster had the check and he did everything he could that day. I called him back today. He offered a complimentary service for what I went through and having to resort to Yelp. It does suck that things got taken care of only after a review, but also super happy and thankful this place takes care of business once they are aware and cares about their reviewers! A+ for being responsive once aware of the situation. Hopefully there will be improvements in communication in the future! read more

I had a great experience with Sterling Collision Center and Tiffany to be exact!! She was very informative and thorough in each step while I was waiting to get my car back. Nobody enjoys this in general but, it was a pleasant as could be expected. She kept me updated throughout with emails and calls due to my busy schedule with patients. I recommend them if you are also in need of a body shop. I hope I don't anytime soon. However, I would go back to them. My AUDI is beautiful again it looks brand new !! read more

This was as good as it gets in terms of auto body work. My brand new Porsche Cayman was struck by someone and I had to get a door shell replaced. I was able to drop off my vehicle the same day I called, they got me connected with a local Enterprise branch for a rental, had an initial estimate prepared by my insurance company the next day, and they began the teardown immediately. After having to get a supplement due to additional damages, Robert Anaya was timely with communicating updates via email per my preference. As an insurance adjuster with auto claims experience, Sterling kept to the same schedule I would expect from any body shop. This will be crucial for me to recover my full rental costs, and was appreciated to ensure I got my car back as quickly as I could. They also offered to return my rental vehicle for me, which was also appreciated. Not to mention, they returned my vehicle to me in absolutely pristine condition. The front office staff was very friendly and helpful, Robert was incredibly professional throughout the process, and I will absolutely return if I ever need any future body work (I hope not.) read more
