I really like the Crate and Barrel in Walnut Creek. I've been in the store about three times now and someone has always been around to help me and answer my questions. My latest visit was on Sunday, December 5, 2010 to look at a couch I was interested in purchasing. Before going to the store, I looked online for the colors available then headed to the store for a closer look at the couch. When I approached a sales clerk, he was more than happy to not only print out all the specs for the sofa but also the different variations that were available. He then walked me over to the fabric area and gave me swatches of the colors that I was interested in. I really appreciated the incredible customer services. I asked him a few questions about each color and how he thought the couch would turn out. Instead of saying "I don't know," or giving me generic answer, he walked me over to different couches with the same color fabric to help me visualize the final product. When I have such great customer service such as this, especially during the holiday season, it really solidifies by loyalty to the brand and store. read more

This Crate and Barrel is a very nice store. The employees there were very helpful and friendly while I was in store and helped me use my coupons and locate certain dishware in their catalog. The problems started when a few things had to be shipped to me. I got a notification my plates had been delivered. Nowhere to be seen. Ok, new building, maybe FedEx was lazy and they'll get it in the morning. 3 days. Nothing. I finally contact customer service. Some lady from the WC store calls me, says that my plates were delivered to the wrong address (how? I sat there and watched them type it in) and that the people who received them had called, confused. Ok...but why didn't Crate and Barrel reach out to me proactively when that happened? Why did I have to contact them? I am assured that new plates will be sent to me and that the address will also be changed on the backordered items. I assume that's that. About a week later, with no plates and no confirmation emails or anything, I get suspicious and email customer service again. Again someone from the store calls (although I specified in my note to customer service that I would prefer to work through email since I shouldn't be taking random calls at work and would like a 'paper' trail) and it turns out that the replacement order was never put in. She also reads off the incorrect address AGAIN and I have to correct her and make sure they send everything to the correct address. I ask for an email confirmation but I am waiting on that and it's been almost 30 minutes. I ordered these plates on July 21st. I ordered an ottoman from MOROCCO and it got here in less time and with less fuss than 2 salad plates from Crate and Barrel. Anyway, to sum up, if you would like to buy something from Crate and Barrel that you cannot physically pick up from the store and take with you, I think you would be better off ordering online or at least going to a different Crate and Barrel. read more

I love this store. I love having uniformed plateware/glassware/silverware. So that means Co I g here a lot to buy my back-ups and getting the full set of 12 of everything. The Aspen design is my preference as it's clean and simple. Just bought 16 of the stemless large wine/water glasses. My whole family approves and love them. I think I love them more. They wash well, and a lot more durable than Riedel's. I hv 12 stacked in my cupboard & 4 extra In storage just in case one breaks. So far none hv broken which us too impressive! This a review of the new location. I am a longtime shopper of the old store. The new store is fine, but it has kind of an outlet feel now. Items are now displayed on long metal-framed racks (just rows and rows of things), not the nicer shelving and displays of the old store. Everything is in one big room now...feels a bit cold. There are curtains to cover areas of the store they are not using, such as the old dressing rooms of Neiman Marcus (hopefully, this will change). All the stuff is there, but it definitely does not feel like the same shopping experience, which is kind of a bummer. Not as nice as the old location. I saw many new faces working there and they were all nice and helpful, so that's a plus. The curbside pickup seems easier now, as it's right out front. read more

So ordered whiskey glasses with personalized initials on them, both times Shows up broken, and heresies where it gets "fun" customer service was rude, and not helpful, the glasses that didn't break are crap! Go to Michael's and get your own kit and make your own! Cheap! But more than anything else their customer service is horrible, one would think with Covid they'd be More apt to keep customers happy instead of being rude and condescending! My c&b credit card was expired so I went to this store to purchase the furniture in person so they could look up my account through social security number. The lady who helped us was rude but we really like the design so we just rolled with it and made the purchase. Half of the payment went through but when there was time for delivery the payment didn't go through. I called the credit card company, spending one hour on the phone getting route to different departments, and was told that my new address wasn't updated at the backend so the new card was sent to different address and they will send the new card to me. If I wanted to make payment before the new card arrives, I need to go to the store. I went to the crate and barrel store at Santana row (closer to me) and was told that they can't help me because I purchased the furniture in Walnut Creek store and I can call them to fix this. So.. I called the Walnut Creek store... and the phone get routed to a representative who is working from somewhere else and she gave me the same number I called and saying that it was the Walnut Creek store direct number....I told her to transfer me directly because the number she gave me will direct me to her again. Thanks to the universe that I finally talked to the person who works at the Walnut Creek store. The lady who I first talked to was quite rude and she couldn't fix my problem so I eventually talked to the store manager and she told me that I need to call the credit card company.... which I already did. So now we are back to the square one.... My mind is exhausted and I'm ready to cancel the order. Seriously, maybe some training is needed for the staffs in this store and some policy/technology infrastructure should improved. The store manager is very helpful but the other two ladies (maybe the same lady) I talked to on the phone are kind of mean. I bought lots of crate and barrel furniture and a frequent crate and barrel shopper in different states. This store is beautiful but the worse in store service I had experienced. Horrible customer service. I love the merchandise Crate & Barrel offers but the personnel in this store are awful. I wanted to purchase a display item because they didn't have the items out for sale and it was such a hassle that I walked out. I ordered on line the following day and got 15% off, but when I went to pick up at the same store 45 minutes early I was told I couldn't and would have to wait another hour. The employee was untruthful and said my items were coming from the warehouse in Lodi which is why they couldn't accommodate the pickup. I will never shop at this store or purchase from CB again. Update: 3 1/2 hrs after I was at the store I got the phone call to pick up my order but one part of my order was not in stock. This is hard to believe as the display was still there and they could have sold me the item as it had tags on it. What's ridiculous is that when I was in the store for my pick-up I could have purchased the other 2 items and been done with it. Instead, now I have to make another trip back there. On top of it, I have been on hold with CB Customer Service for over 20 minutes and the agents are too busy to answer the phone! I have never been a big shopper. There is just something about this store that makes me want buy stuff. I have had a $100 gift card in my wallet from when I got married. I got married in 2007, so if that doesn't show you how much I don't like shopping I don't know what would. I'm also on a budget since my husband is unemployed. What better way to get gifts than with free money? Plus I finally have a reason to use that gift card. So I got a beautiful vase, some little blue marbles and a set of cool ball like candles. this is for one of my husbands relatives. All for around $35.00. I also bought myself a Barefoot Contessa Red Velvet Cupcake mix and Frosting mix. Even after my gift giving I still have $69.00 to spend on what ever I want. Ill probably will buy some stuff to decorate my office. I should write a book on my cost cutting techniques. You would be shocked at what I do. My other favorite part of this store is they box all your goodies up for you. All of the stuff I bought was oddly shaped. They asked me what of my purchases were a gift and immediately took it over and wrapped the vase for protection. They had the perfect sized box and boxed everything together in a sturdy Crate & Barrel box. I couldn't have been more thankful to them. They did that all without asking. I was not looking forward to trying to find a box for those things. I guess Ill have to come back to spend the rest of my gift card. read more

I adore kitchen supply stores. Whenever I enter one, I immediately begin to envision my dream kitchen and all of the fabulous kitchen-y gadgets stockpiled within. Crate and Barrel is full of gadgets that I want. Silpat, salt pigs and spatulas, oh my! My most recent drool-worthy wish is for the apothecary style jars. I can just picture them filled with candy on a dessert buffet. So cute! Unfortunately I don't have the storage space at the present time for such an indulgence. After an extensive online search, I found the C & B had them in stock online and also in this store....no shipping required. I really like the feature *find in a store* that many retailers have added to their web pages. Hubby and I went early, and were in and out in no time. This is a fantastic store. Parking can be a bit of a pain but I think it is worth it. (Why is it that when people enter parking garages they seem to forget how to drive?) I could spend hours here looking through all the wonderful kitchen appliances, serving pieces, tools, etc. Most things seem very reasonably priced and anything that is on the pricey side usually has a less expensive counterpart. Setting up a registry is very simple and we started ours online. We already knew some things that we wanted but went into the store so we could pick out some things in person. They were very helpful in getting measurements for various pieces of furniture, rugs, lamps etc. They were also very quick to help me place the order, schedule delivery and made the process less exhausting. Big! This is the biggest Crate & Barrel I've ever visited. They were also very good about running around to find the stuff I really wanted. Did I mention they were extremely busy at the time? No? They were and they were extremely friendly especially when I came back to pick up my purchases. They also helped me put together my registry. No, wedding bells have not yet begun to ring but I'm re-decorating. Once I'm through de-cluttering and moving and stuff I'll need new furniture. I won't be going in this store anytime soon. Firstly could get NO help, went into the store today 3 times could NOT find a clerk, the store was empty tooo. Also the worst of it the music was SOOOOO loud we couldn't hear or think. After fifteen minutes trying to get someone's attention we left empty handed and tool our business to David M who was glad to have our business of purchasing new dishes. Before we left we saw two patrons inside and both others couldn't stand the loud music and left with us. This is for furniture delivery only. Ordered a bed and nightstand online after a long diligent search to find what I wanted. After I placed the order on March 19, I see that the bed would not be available until mid April. Really wanted it by April 15 so I thought it could work. Nope. The bed became ready to deliver on Tuesday, April 24. Checked delivery schedule that day and the first available delivery time is May 2. I sign up. Two days later I get another email saying I need to schedule delivery. Argh. Somehow my first delivery arrangement doesn't exist and now the first available date is May 8 which is terribly inconvenient. I have complained but they say they really can't do anything about it except ask the delivery people if my stuff can be out on a truck before the 8th. This is what I paid $99 for??!! Bottom line: Don't count on your furniture arriving at any specific date. Love the store and the products. Hate the delivery process. Probably will never order furniture here again. read more

Vera came to our home with brochures, her laptop, and and fabric samples. She patiently helped us look at options and make selections which best suited our space. Her service was outstanding that we returned a month later to buy additional furniture. Vera monitored our order and kept us informed about deliveries. Any problems were quickly resolved. This review is only for the furniture delivery service. After waiting 3 months for a custom sofa and another week and a half for delivery. They only call you 2 days before delivery to give you a 2 hour window. If that's not convenient for you... too bad, you're charged a $35 rescheduling fee. After waiting 30 minutes past my window, I call only to find out that they've been to my address, said they called and left a message, although I received no calls and no messages. The dispatcher tells me the driver doesn't want to come back. Now I have to wait 9 MORE days for the sofa to be delivered again and I have no furniture to sit on for more than a week. The only thing I was told was, "there's nothing we can do...it's the holidays." My response, "Terrible customer service!!!" read more

One of my favorite stores to peruse whether I need something there or not. I'd decided I would like to move in and live there. I love the furniture store part upstairs. When we were looking for a couch( love their contemporary styles and color palates) a couple of years ago we looked at many places. But we kept coming back to one peticular sectional there, and would come "visit" regularly. After many repeated "sittings" we took the plunge and purchased the beast. And have not been disappointed. It has given our family room a whole new life and held up amazingly well to two teenagers eating on it, and pets torturing it. Also have purchase dining room chairs there too and except for the fact that one child (that will remain nameless)decided to remove toenail polish on while on the chair and took off some paint, they have been great. I love their Kitchen gadgets and glassware ( Im a freak for glass stuff) and when in need for a gift for a wedding or house warming gift its my first choice on the list. (I've been to the one in Chicago and its huge) and San Francisco's is quite large but can be very crowded, making Walnut Creek's much more pleasurable to shop. Note: The one in SoHo is big and nice to shop in too, a big plus when we were walking around SoHo all day and needed a bathroom really bad. I bought two identical items online and wanted to return one of them in this store. Somehow their system showed a different amount than what my receipt showed. They refused to honor my receipt. They asked me to check my statement to see whether they charged the lower amount. Huh? Burden is on the customer to show I wasn't charged the amount on the receipt?? That doesn't even make sense and what kind of customer service is that?? It would have been better if they had just told me to send it back to save 45 mins of my time. This location sucks! Before I went to the store i checked online if they have in stock the planter i was looking, it says in stock that's what I went. Upon arrival I asked the blonde lady if they have the planter in stock she said they dont have it, i showed her online that they have it in stock, she did not even double check if they have it or not, I said this online thing is not accurate she said right away yes it's not accurate...so dont believe what you see online, according to the staff it's not accurate. She said order online then have it deliver in their store so i dont have to pay for shipping but it will arrived in 2 weeks. So, I ordered the same day then pick up in this location, the next morning I got a message saying my order is ready for pick up! What???!!! This store is well laid out and easy to find. Super clean and organized with all the typical C and B stuff you would expect. Staff was friendly and greeted and assisted as needed. They do have bathrooms up stairs. Was amazed that nothing tickled my fancy this time, I don't think I've ever not wanted something while shopping there! read more

The worst customer and cashier service i have ever seen in my whole life. We bought some stuff and then we remembered that we have a 10% off from crate and barrel, we showed it to the cashier(Shannon) and she said we can refund us the money and do the 10% and we were ok with it. First of all she left us around 15 mins to help other customers, and then she came back to the system telling us that it should only take few seconds, 10 mins later she called her manager asking him/her to come and help her with the 10% off without saying any word to us or updating us with anything. After 30 mins i asked her how much its gonna take and her answer was "we are so busy and i cant tell the exact time it could be 2mins and it could be more we can void it if you want but we cant honor the 10% anymore!!!" Super super unprofessional and disrespectful . Anyways we left the store without taking the 10% because we don't want to waste more time with crate and barrel. Avoid this place as much as you can not only because of the bad customer service but also we ordered a bed from them that supposed to arrive in mid July and i didn't get until now. I wish i can give this place a 0 star. read more

C&B is a dangerous place for me to go. It is a lot like Costco where you walk in with the intent to buy bread and eggs and leave with a $750 bill. You then ask yourself, what did I buy? We walked in today looking for mugs but found ourselves shopping for other items. The cost is high, but he quality is good. The silverware that we purchased from here always gets great complements. The staff here is 6 stars!!! My 7 year old was complaining of being thirsty. A lady went to the break room and brought her back a coffee cup with water. So awesome! What did I learn today? It is so hard to find quality help in the retail section, but C&B are doubting something right! read more

I'm so disappointed in the customer service with this store. I'm a long time shopper at C&B. I was there shopping and went to take the escalator upstairs and as I grabbed the hand rail My fingers got caught between some furniture that was pushed up against the handrail, as I went up the escalator my fingers dragged up in between the handrail and the piece of furniture. I didn't know what had happened by the time I got to the top of the escalator I was in tears grabbing my hand thinking the tips of my fingers were gone. I walk straight to the ladies restroom where I ran my hand underneath some warm water there was a lot of blood. When I came out of the ladies room there was not a soul in sight, no customers no sales help I walk to the other side of the store and found a sales desk and asked if I could get a Band-Aid or if there a manager with a first aid kit. Stephanie the manager took her sweet time and was very unsympathetic of my situation even though she saw how upset I was in tears and needing to sit down. She gave me a couple pieces of gauze and I wrapped my fingers up and told her I had to go to the restroom. She thought there might be a form I should sign and went off to find it. When I came out of the bathroom I couldn't find her and I needed to get out of there and get home I was in a lot of pain. I came back the next day after work and she didn't have the form and had me sign my name and address on a post it. The last three fingers on my right hand were severely bruised and the cuticle was ripped away on the one finger. Stephanie the manager continue to show no interest in my situation or the pain I was in. And said that I would get a form in the mail in three days. I never received a form. I thought for sure a big store like that would have an incident report in case something happened. When I left the store I went back down the elevator to see what was the problem and that's when I saw the furniture pressed up against the escalator, I figured that was the culprit. I moved the furniture away from the hand rail. It's been two weeks and have not received anything. The one finger that had the cuticle ripped away is still tender to the touch. So disappointed in the sales people there that they show so little interest in the customers that are spending their money. Very disappointing. I've gone into this store time and time again and have only had one poor encounter. For the most part, I value the employees hat have taken the time to help me and also, knew a lot about the products they're selling (HUGE PLUS)!! I walked away with an amazing coffee burr and went to a coffee class where they taught the differences between coffee coarseness & temp. Of water making such a huge difference. Love this location! I ordered a custom couch via Crate and Barrel. During the 10-week production wait, I waited for my CB credit card to arrive as we signed up for the 10% cashback perks. My CC didn't arrive. I called and they issued me a new one. Never arrived. I called again. I found out every aspect of my address was entered incorrectly even though it was right on my receipt. Finally got access to the account and paid my couch off in full. At this point, I am about 2-3 hours in on customer service calls. Finally, we can't wait, 10 weeks come along and our custom blue velvet couch is out for delivery, but oh. my. god, it's an entirely different color! We refused the couch, called Crate and Barrel for a refund on a $5,055 purchase. It's escalated and high-level support is supposed to call, but never does. I call back (and also discover the CB customer service chat which I recommend over calling). I am told I will get a refund. Two weeks go by. No refund. Call back today. They issue a refund (we'll see what happens in 72 hours). Part of it will go to my personal CC, the other HAS to go to the CB CC even though I already paid it off with debit. A manager tells me I now have to call the CC service to issue a check. What a disaster. Everyone along the way was nice, but nice means nothing when you're dealing with such an overall disappointing experience. We will never shop at C&B again. Beware. read more
