I am so impressed with the sandwiches I ordered from Crave Subs today. I ordered the meat platter of all their meat sandwiches, and it was a huge hit with my staff. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious, and the presentation was great! It came in a box that had each sandwich labeled using a fun food pick. This place is trying to be like Ike's Love & Sandwiches and I'd say copying is the sincerest form of flattery. However, the prices are outrageous for a sandwich in my opinion. The Boondocks is $22.99 & the Ed Edd Eddy is $24.99! For a sandwich! I could order a pizza or purchase all the ingredients myself and make my own. Hard pass for me. I wouldn't recommend it. There are so many better delis/sandwich places around in Castro Valley, San Leandro & Hayward. For example, Lucca's or Bara's comes to mind. I wish this new business the best but the location is not in the best or most easily accessible place. Also, be warned, if you order from a kiosk there is not a "No Tip" button. This expected tipping is really getting annoying & turns a lot of customers off. read more

We needed a halal sub place in the bay badly and I'm so glad I found this place! Quantities are absolutely huge and I had my second half of my sub for dinner. They had fresh baked Chocolate chip cookies when I was there and that was amazing too read more

Wow! I'm a huge Marvel/DC fan and happened to stumble upon this place thanks to thesnacksensei on instagram. All the character themed sandwiches instantly drew me in to want to try out the spot - especially the nostalgic ones -Ed, Ed and Eddy, Shaggy, Pikachu etc. I ordered the Pikachu in a large size and dang it was definitely huge! - but super glad to have leftovers for the next day :) the sandwich was soooo good! Oh my goodness! Stuffed with avocados and the crave sauce? super bomb! A little pricey but understandable for how much was packed in. I think I just found my go to sandwich spot nearby and we were able to order ahead from our phone and then pick them up. Love it! read more

Got the chicken little sandwich regular size. Filled me up to where last 2 bites were extra but I ate it anyway because it was good. A lot of options for sandwiches. Will have to try other sandwiches later. Small seating area. Very busy lunch time. People lined up for food that's why didn't take pictures. Got 2 ed Edd and eddy in large. Paying $30 for 2 sandwiches is the norm nowadays. Just expected it to be a bit bigger like other places when I pay $15+ per sandwich. Good portion of meat and good flavor sauce. read more

Crave subs Pretty delicious sandwiches at this place. Bread is toasted and there's a pretty good ratio of meat, lettuce, other ingredients and bread. Came through on a Saturday around 3:30 and the place was empty. I was a little concerned with the sandwich options as most of them seemed to have only an option of BBQ, Buffalo, Ranch and Honey Mustard sauces. There were no options for just regular steak or roast beef. We decided to try 3 different sandwiches though, 1. Grogu - Grilled chicken, pesto, arugula & provolone. 2. Deadpool - Fried chicken, buffalo, ranch & provolone 3. Boba Fet - Pastrami, bistro sauce, arugula & Jack. All 3 were very tasty but the Grogu was noticeably milder than the others.. good if you're looking for a "chill sandwich". We ate the Deadpool first since it was fried chicken and super crispy., we didn't want it to get soggy. The rest got packed up and went home with us. We also ordered a side of the Wolverine Fries which just seems to be the same thing as the sandwiches but no bun and no produce. I was disappointed that all they had were curly fries options.. I know many of you will be ecstatic to hear about that.. but personal preference is regular or crinkle cut potatoes. I will admit though, the Wolverine Fries were fire. The fried chicken was super crispy and I really wasn't hating on those curly fries. Not an item I recommend ordering to-go though since it will almost definitely be soggy by the time it gets home. Overall, great food and I don't really mind the limited sauce options for the sandwiches at this point. Pretty sure everything was on Dutch Crunch. The prices are a bit on the high side, $12 for a regular and $19 for a large... but their regular is a good size for an average sized American... and I usually have a larger appetite than most. There are a few things that I wasn't super impressed with though. There are no single portion sized sides.. actually, you can't even just get plain curly fries, at least off the menu.. just a whole "loaded fries" which is easily a full meal on its own and costs about $12. The only options for sides you have are a bag of chips or a giant cookie. The whole place smells like a dirty kitchen. I used to work servicing restaurant equipment and that was the smell of greasy floors and refrigerators. I'm not concerned about the food, I just don't think these guys do enough deep cleaning. There's no fountain drinks, just a limited option of canned sodas. The tables are made of unsealed black iron steel and if they get wet, they explode with the smell of wet metal.. I know, that's an ironic statement, but there's no other way to explain that... it's just this nasty wet metallic smell. This is more of a personal issue, but they have old school Arabic music playing on the speakers.. I'm not a big fan of ethnic music playing at restaurants, especially when it's not themed as such. It also took a bit of time to get our food, at least longer than I believe it should have taken. Everything came out hot, so I don't exactly blame them considering it was slow when we arrived and they weren't in production mode or maybe had to turn on some of the equipment.. but it was one of my little complaints. Lastly, I don't get the whole theme of this place. There's marvel and DC character posters on the walls, the names of all the food items are from all over including "Fat Albert", "Fire Dpt", "Tom & Jerry".. but the name of the place is Crave Subs.. just doesn't make any sense. The names also seem to be just arbitrarily applied... like what does Fried Chicken, Buffalo sauce, Ranch and Provolone have to do with Deadpool?? And why does the sandwich that comes with Fried Chicken, BBQ and Ranch get named Chicken Little, while the Curly Fry version of it gets called Wolverine..? All things considered, I think they still deserve 5 stars. I scored 1 of my 5 stars on the environment (items mentioned on my "displeasure" list), they were ding'd 1 point on this part. The rest of my score is all about the food. I decided to push them up a star because this place is clearly a family owned business and they are located in a tough area that is rather low traffic after regular business hours. The food wasn't exactly "woohoo, as good as it gets" as Yelp likes to put it.. but they make a delicious sandwich here and I could easily see myself CRAVing it again in the future... but dude.. deep clean your kitchen floors and coolers! read more

This is indeed a hidden gem for sandwich lovers. The food is fresh and every sandwich has its own taste and flavor. I went here since they serve Halal meat and have good options of loaded fries as well. We tried Deadpool, Patrick Star and Pikachu sandwiches and a loaded fries. The options are large and service great. The place itself is also very interesting, heavily inspired by Marvels. Overall, very clean place. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is in that area. It's mostly a lunch place during working days. I wished they could have a place in more commercial area. read more

This spot is legit! Probably the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. Very helpful workers at the front and making the food. It's very chill when you walk in. There are comic books against the wall and they have even free comic books to you to read. The sandwiches are HUGE and well worth the money. I will definitely be coming back. read more

You order from a tablet and pick your food up from the counter, so there's no human service whatsoever, but the tablet does not have a "no tip" option. I'm all for supporting food service workers, but that made me raise an eyebrow. My sandwich was absolutely drowning in mayonnaise--a shame, because once I scraped it off, I discovered the meat and bread were actually pretty tasty. Unfortunately, I then discovered onion peels in my sandwich. There are far better sandwich places nearby. Skip this one. Edit in response to the owner's comment: There were two employees in the store and neither were paying attention to the customers ordering. I'm not trying to bash a new business, but my experience was genuinely poor. I hope you can take this as an opportunity to do better for your future customers :) read more

This is a hidden gem in the Bay Area. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but the sandwiches are truly amazing. This was my first time here and it didn't disappoint. I first discovered this on Instagram. After seeing photos. I had to fly in to come try them when I came to visit family. The subs are fire !! I got the Patrick Star and Wolverine Fries. Both killer! I also took home a pastrami, turkey . Forget the name but it was smackinnnnn!! I recommend it. The staff is great. They know how to customer service! I'm so glad they opened this location here in Hayward, Berkeley and San Francisco are a little far for me to be able to go as often as I'd like to. Their food is halal too so definitely a plus and I've been to their other locations several times before, and this one tasted just as great. I got 3 sandwiches for my friends and I and it costed around $70. It may sound high but I think for the portions they give you it's worth it. Staff were nice as well. I will definitely be back more in the future since it's so much closer to me! read more

Was in the area today running errands and decided to pop into this new-to-me place. Staff was friendly and helpful, and gave me the option to either order through them at the counter or their tablet kiosk thing (I chose the former). Rolled the dice on the Boba Fet despite not being a huge fan of arugula and was delighted. Plenty of toppings, sandwich came out piping hot and the arugula really added something to the mix. The sandwich was perfectly dressed with the sauces...if it had been regular bread. It was a smidge - just a smidge!! - too dry due to my ordering the GF bread which if you're GF you know the drill with our sad options. Sidenote, I think places in general go dryer bc GF bread tends to fall apart upon direct eye contact. That said this GF bread was decent! Didn't fall apart and wasn't tiny as expected as from other joints offering the same. Will definitely go back again. If you're celiac, please call ahead to confirm whether they can handle your allergy but I would think like other joints there is likelihood of cross contamination. To the owner/management, I hope those employees get some extra love for working through some high temps today.
