I actually started it off planning on going to Lo Lo's but after waiting 20 minutes for an open bar seat, which I could visibly see, I decided to look for something else and that's when I checked the Yelp and up popped this food truck. It is located downtown by the courthouse and parking was a bit sketch but I was able to park in a 10 minute loading zone, jump out and order my food and boy am I glad I did. I ended up ordering the oxtail platter with two sides, which I got the mac & cheese and red beans and rice and then I also got a side of smoked turkey wings. Both meals were delectable! The portion size was enough that I'll probably drive home with half of it, which means all the way back to Arizona! Lol, I would definitely advise anyone living in Vegas to check the spot out but if you are visiting, definitely worth the venture off the strip to get something real.

Okay, Shay's Wave…read more Shay's Wave food truck came to my apartment complex today. They were running a really good special (that's what drew me in). And when I say they did not disappoint. Baby... they did not disappoint. The food was on point. I was trying them for the first time, so I figured I'd keep it simple. I got two different flavors of wings and fries. The wings were delicious and the fries were fresh, hand cut (with the skin still on them) and seasoned well. Even though I got this food on a special/discount, I would have gladly paid full price. If they ever come back to my development, I'm going to try everything on the menu. If I can offer a little unsolicited advice. Ladies, you really should hand out small paper menus or business cards with each order so we can remember you and have something to refer back to. There's a lot of competition out there. Doing errands and chanced upon this Cuban food truck on the parking lot of Walmart corner of Trop…read moreand Pecos. I am always fascinated by food trucks. Ordered their main offering the Cubano sandwich and fries as an after thought. Waited about 10 mins along with one other customer. Chatted a bit with Nico one of the guys working the truck. It's only their second venture on this spot and still working on their menu which apparently will be expanding pretty soon. The owner, Raudel was the one in charge of the kitchen prepping food. I was so excited getting some hot food tried the fries as soon as I got in the car. Was so disappointed! Cold cold fries! Waited till I got home for the Cubano sandwich. The sandwich did not disappoint. Huge and very tasty! And hot! The cheese pull was awesome! This would have gone down as an epic review if only the fries partnered well. I went home dreaming about that damn Gumbo, so much that it's why I returned for again to get some! This isn't like your traditional Gumbo. It's doesn't have seafood pieces, just stripped juicy chicken and flavorful sausage, rice, onions all in a savory broth that isn't too salty. Again, there wasn't anything wrong with it, but it wasn't something he'd order again. The Chicken & Sausage Gumbo was okay, but not as bold on flavor and seasoning as I expected from a gumbo. The gumbo did have a soupy consistency with plenty of large pieces of chicken and a celery flavor. I felt the same as my husband did about my dish. Good, but not something memorable. Overall, I love to support local business so if I see them around at another event I'd be willing to try some of their other menu options. The Boudin Ball Po Boy and Louisiana Purchase both sounded interesting.
