I've always heard that this Crawfish Cafe location specifically is one of the best seafood spots in Houston. I haven't tried enough seafood places to know if it's the best but it's soooo good! This was my second time trying it, I stopped by on a Sunday with my mom. The parking is a little limited and the restaurant itself was pretty busy. I had a 1/2 lb of headless shrimp with mild Kickin' Cajun seasoning, corn, potatoes, and white rice. The flavor was so good! I really enjoyed it. My mom really liked hers as well which had a coconut seasoning. The food is good, the only downside is how long you have to wait for it. We waited half an hour for our food which feels like an eternity when you're hungry. Besides the long wait times and crappy parking, it's definitely worth trying! read more

Even though I was inside for a short amount of time, I could tell that the interior was clean. The layout seemed like it had a good atmosphere. The staff member who handed me the order was polite and thanked me on the way out. The food was exactly what I wanted. I even added an order of fried okra which was a great value for the price. Crawfish Cafe in the Heights is always mentioned as one of the top Viet Cajun places in Houston and is a go to for many locals during crawfish season. My friend and I came here on a Monday at 5:30 PM for reference and enjoyed our crawfish experience. Parking: this place is notorious for having limited parking. There is a parking in the back of the restaurant that holds about 15 cars but other than that, you have to find street parking. DO NOT PARK AT BURGER KING. They regularly tow from the Burger King parking lot next to Crawfish Cafe so do not park there. Pro tip: the Kroger across the street does not tow to my knowledge and from what I've heard from friends who have dined here. You just have to cross a very busy street to get to the restaurant if you want to park at Kroger. Service: service was good when we got there but as the restaurant got busy, we had to ask for water to be refilled. We also ordered some things that didn't come with our main order so we had to ask our waiter to check up on those items. They give you plastic bibs and plastic gloves which keeps the smell off of your fingers and splatter off of your clothes. Ambiance: this place gets filled up pretty fast for dinner so get here early if you don't want to wait. The tables are covered in plastic table clothes which is standard in crawfish places. They also have tables outside if that is your preference. The restaurant gets loud when all of the tables are full but that is to be expected. This is a fun spot for crawfish and the vibes were high during dinner. Food: we ordered a starter and stuck with crawfish and the fixings. We ordered the crawfish cheese bread which came out first. The bread was very rich and cheesy but didn't have that much crawfish on it. I think it had two crawfish tails for each piece of bread. It came with 4 pieces of cheese bread. We also ordered 6 total lbs of crawfish, 2 orders of potatoes and 2 corn. The potatoes come in orders of 3 pieces and the corn is 1 piece per order. We got them medium in the Thai Basil sauce. We didn't ask for the crawfish to be separated into two bags but they came in two bags (3 lbs each) which was a nice touch. The crawfish were drenched in the sauce which was nice and the flavor on the crawfish was amazing. Come here for the crawfish because they are doing it right. The crawfish also came with a side of limes and butter so if you are a sauce person, this is your paradise. The corn and potatoes soak up the sauce so nice so would highly recommend adding those to your crawfish order. I would also recommend getting some type of carb to soak up the sauce like a rice or hush puppies. We ordered hush puppies for this reason. Overall I would definitely recommend Crawfish Cafe for crawfish season. Their mix of delicious sauces makes for a flavor blast in your mouth and anything you dip in their sauces becomes heavenly. Watch out for parking signs and get here early if you can as the place fills up fast! Come here for the crawfish and try the other sides and dishes if you want to mix up your dinner. read more

The size of the crawfish was great. Barely had any dead ones too. Fried rice was a HUGE disappoint however. The rice was undercooked and the flavor was off. Tried Crawfish Cafe for the first time on a Friday around 2pm. Parking was extremely annoying, as there is a parking lot in the front shared with other businesses, with only a few for this business specifically, and a lot in the back with maybe ~10 spaces. There is some street parking adjacent to the back parking lot in the residential area, but this, too, was packed. Upon entering the business, the atmosphere was lively but not too busy, as my party of 3 had no wait time! We sat at a spacious booth adjacent to the open kitchen. I got the crawfish eggrolls (4 eggrolls, made with crawfish tails, corn, vegetables and cream cheese. Served with a spicy aioli dipping sauce) and Cajun Calamari (Served with spicy aioli sauce). The eggrolls were delicious and filling! Couldn't really taste the crawfish of the eggrolls, but all of the ingredients together meshed well. It paired very well with the dipping sauce, which to me tasted like sriracha-kewpie mayo. The calamari was SO CRISPY AND AMAZING and also paired well with its sauce. While these were starters, I was full with only these 2 baskets. I also had a Hurricane frozen margarita, served in what I'm guesstimating was a 16 oz plastic cup (this thing was def not a wimpy little 8 oz cup like I was expecting), and I was LIT! My friends also ordered a seafood boil combo #1 each, and while I didn't try their food myself, they were very satisfied with the taste, and after ordering an additional pound of crawfish and shrimp, they were stuffed. All in all, I really enjoyed my experience at Crawfish Cafe and would return and hopefully encounter less stress with parking. Pro tip: Our waiter let us in on a secret: Kroger across the street DOESN'T tow, but Burger King next door DOES. Just saying... try this at your own risk! We got here on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm and even though we didn't have a reservation, they were kind enough to sit us on the patio. I used to have to drive 30 minutes to the Bellaire location, but with this inner loop location more people get the enjoy the yummy goodness without making the big trek. If you're a crawfish lover and haven't tried it with a viet twist, I urge you to come try it out for yourself and you can thank me later! If crawfish is not your thing, they provide a lot of dishes also (Cajun fried platters, po boys fried rice, wings, other boiled seafood, garlic noodles, etc)! I have my go-to order here is just 2 items and I never really steer away from it, every once in a while I switch up the flavors but that's about. 1. 3lbs Crawfish extra spicy with boiled corn, sausage, mushrooms (Flavor: the grail or the mix, or sometime both! they let you mix any flavors you want so you can make your own custom one, just for you!) I did go fairly recently and have noticed that they are giving you less sauce compared to last year, so if you're a saucy girl like me just ask them for extra sauce. I have friends that like to get a side of rice and mix the extra sauce in it. 2. Salt and Pepper wings Xtra Crispy - this was a rec from one of their workers when they first opened this location and I fell in love it with it and never looked back. Tried other flavors but this is still my favorite. I would say the only downside for this location is the parking. The front parking is quite a mess as there's a lot of business reserved spots so gets filled up quick. they also have parking in the back by their kitchen, but it's pretty small too. I've gotten lucky finding street parking in the back when both parking lots are full. But the crawfish is here is worth the parking hassle. The pics you see are a $40 dollar order of snow crab legs - one whole cluster and broken cluster with 2.5 clusters. I was fully aware that I was paying almost 100% markup because I frequently eat snow crabs from other restaurants and they give two FULL clusters. I could not get pics of my friend's order before he had eaten his, but neither of his clusters were full. So, if you're counting, that's $80 bucks for broken clusters. I purchased items and bill totaled $112. Spend $112 and restaurants will root around to find broken crab legs for your order. Their price is 39.99 a pound - well they weren't a pound either. I've never weighed crab legs from other restaurants because I figured some days two FULL clusters would be less than a pound and others, more than. I just always went with it. But, I weighed these because surely they are one pound because why would they give me half of a cluster? Anyway, these restaurants and grocery stores have figured a new way to scam - send less than or the worst products to to-go/pickup orders and delivery orders. read more
