Also, they give you all the accoutrements such as limes, lemons, mayo, ketchup, and additional Cajun seasoning. 2-2.5 lbs per person is plenty and we always throw in a sausage link. The corn can be a bit soggy from time to time depending on what sauce/mix you get. The crawfish are good sized and cooked appropriately. The vibe is always loud, packed and busy. Quite possibly the worst lunch I have ever had. To be fair, I don't eat crawfish, but there are several other items in the menu. Came here with friends for a teacher appreciation offer, which was generous. I ordered a catfish poboy with a side of coke slaw and an unsweet tea. I was expecting an ordinary southern lunch. However, when the menu items that one would reasonably expect to be not spicy are indeed unexpectedly spicy- such as potato salad- that might be a helpful detail to include in the menu. And the filets were quite thin so were a bit dried out. Oysters were gross - batter was wet and sloppy. It seemed overcooked and did not have much substance to it. The fried platter generously comes with two side dishes. This makes for a large meal. Side dish: shrimp fried rice - 3/5. Quite plain, but had a nice oily fried flavor you expect from fried rice. The boudin balls had a good flavor but I didn't too much care for the dipping sauce. (Reminded me of horseradish) The crawfish cheese bread was delicious! It was super cheesy and had a good flavor! As for the crawfish this is where I would have to give 4 stars. I had "The Mix" flavor which is supposed to be lemon pepper and garlic butter flavor. The taste had a sweet flavor which I wasn't expecting. The crawfish was a good size but the flavors didn't execute! As for the wings, they were delicious! I would definitely recommend the Thai chili wings. They were flavorful and fried to perfection. We sat outside where they had fans and tv's available!! Overall it was a good experience. This place has just entered my top 5 restaurants of Houston. The other day I got here at 12:04 PM (opens at 12) and there were already plenty of people waiting to eat. I ordered only crawfish with a few lb of the mix (garlic butter and lemon pepper), the grail (garlic butter and thai basil), and the signature (garlic butter and kickin cajun) along with some french bread, corn, and potatoes. Everything was fantastic. Crawfish (5/5): Look how big these things are in my picture below. HUGE. Many claws were the size of other places' tails. Some were literally like slightly smaller lobsters. Like other great crawfish places, very few small or dead ones, but these were some of the biggest I've seen. Sauces: I rank them as 1) Thai Basil 2) lemon pepper 3) kickin cajun. Their garlic butter base has plenty of garlic and butter and a bit of sweetness that we all love about Vietnamese crawfish. The mixes further amplify the taste with little variations. Every sauce was extremely addicting. I love basil so I have to rank it first. Plenty of basil flavor and it works really well with the garlic butter base. Lemon pepper is like a slightly acidic garlic butter and is a refreshing changeup. Kickin cajun is like cajun meets viet crawfish and is also good but my least favorite among the 3. I recommend getting a bit spicier for the flavors in general as I feel it adds to the experience. Pro tip: If you order corn (which is like 90 cents), you can ask them to bring it in a bag with a sauce of your choice. I recommend this over the French bread any day. You have to try this place if you love crawfish. At 8.99 lb, I felt the prices were very fair, and it's currently my favorite crawfish place in Houston. Again, look at the size of the crawfish in the picture below. This is a place I will take anyone visiting Houston during crawfish season, and I will definitely be back before the end of this crawfish season. read more

This place was so busy so we thought it had to be good. The wait was not worth it. We waited probably an hour and a half before being seated in the outside section. We ordered a fried shrimp po-boy and crawfish. That was probably the worst po-boy I've ever had. The bread was hard and there was no flavor. It was also a pretty small sandwich for the price. We got the signature sauce for the crawfish which is the garlic butter and kickin spicy I believe. We liked the flavor but it was mostly chunky garlic rather than actual sauce. They had to remake our crawfish however because there was some hair boiled into the first batch which is not appetizing. Thankfully, the service was good and we enjoyed the crawfish with corn and Cajun fries. Overall, I would not recommend this place and will not be back. This restaurant has indoor seating as well as it is covered outdoor seating. This place gets extremely packed. I went during the week and they told me it was a slow day and it was so many people in there. I was confused but apparently on the weekends they get extremely crowded so I would see if you can try to go there on the weekday or try them out. I ended up getting some crawfish empanadas, crawfish with the signature sauce and some shrimps with the signature sauce. I also had a New Orleans lemonade. I think that's what it's called. Everything was really good, especially the crawfish and the shrimp. I also had two styles of oysters, which is the regular grilled oysters and the green onions scallion oysters. The green onion scallion did not have a lot of flavor but the original ones so would prefer the original oysters the only thing was the empanadas, didn't taste like he had any crawfish in it so I personally wouldn't get those again, but the flavor was decent. There's an ambience. They have a ramp and staircase to enter. The parking lot is not that big for how crowded it gets but there's also a Kroger's across the street where you could possibly park. Good size crawfish- a bit of a wait though, so go early . My favorite flavor is the Thai Basil.. so delicious. The signature is my second favorite sauce, I've probably tried about 6 combos. Ask for a crab cracker when your crab arrives because you may have to wait. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to get our cracker finally and by then it can lose some of them heat. I also like using the cracker to eat some of the legs of the crawfish because the ones that are really big actually have a lot of meat in them. My wife is from Louisiana, so she knows her Cajun crawdads. BUT as a relatively new Houstonian, she (or I for that matter) had never sampled the Viet-Cajun variety that is popular around these parts. The difference lies in the cooking technique: whereas traditional crawfish are boiled in a huge pot of seasoned water, Viet-Cajun crawfish is tossed with garlic, butter, and a host of aromatics AFTER the critters are boiled. Many of my friends claim Crawfish Cafe is the best vendor in town, and I was excited to see that this newer outpost of the original Bellaire location was nearby-ish in the Heights. The ordering and pick-up process was fairly painless, especially considering the size of the request. After placing the order online the day before, 30 lbs of crawfish were waiting for us at the counter (though we did show up about half an hour late on accident). We dumped the lot on a backyard table and went to town. This was in March, but the crawfish were mostly on the larger side of medium, with a bunch of small ones intermixed. We got all three of their house blends -- garlic butter plus lemon pepper, thai basil, and kickin cajun, respectively -- but to be quite honest, the prominent flavors were garlic and butter across the board, with maybe a mild hint of anything else. Not that I'm complaining, because the sauce was delicious, punchy, and rich. The spice level was distinguishable, however, and the "spicy" ones made my nose run without being intolerable. My one knock against Crawfish Cafe is that the price-to-quantity ratio isn't ideal. At $8.99/lb, we were expecting to feel satisfied at 3 lbs/person (group of 10), but many of us were hankering for more even after leaving a mountain of shells and an ocean of oil on the table. They even have a curbside pickup option where you put in the make, model and color of your vehicle and you just notify them via the link in the text message when you arrive. Sounds too good to be true right?! Welp, it was! I had my order confirmed for 3pm on a Sunday.. I got there at 3:10ish and my order wasn't ready AND there was so many people inside! So if you're wanting some place abiding by Covid rules, this place isn't it! It was packed and a little crazy; servers running everywhere and it was pretty dang slow! I ended up going inside cause the 2 spots reserved for curbside was taken - actually no spots were available in the whole parking lot! When I got in, the hostess directed me to the counter behind her for online/call-in/order pick-up. There was like 3 other people in front of me and then another 4 guests behind me! They must've spent 10-15 mins on the 3 customers before me before they actually got to me. Almost 3:25pm now and my order isn't ready - for a 3pm pickup. Wtf?! Why even allow scheduled times when you can't make those times?! The girl told me they were waiting on the fried catfish and that she'll bring the order right out when it's ready. A little over 10 minutes passes and I finally receive a text that my order is almost ready; nobody comes out. I go back in and the order isn't even packed up yet. Such a mess! Granted it's now like 40-45 mins past the pickup time. We finally get our order and head out... took way too long and curbside did not work. Food was fantastic! The 1lb of boiled shrimp with garlic butter and Thai basil had amazing flavors and were super easy to peel. The 3lb of crawfish with garlic butter and lemon pepper was flavorful as well, and so was the 3lb of crawfish with garlic butter and kickin Cajun spice. This one def left a kick in your throat and was a bit spicy, even though I ordered the medium spice level for everything! I enjoyed all the kitchen special mixes - though the 6lb of crawfish seemed a bit sparse. I can't say it looked like 6lbs. They were pretty warm even after taking them home and a good size for March; though still not huge. Good quality crawfish! We also ordered the salt and pepper shrimp; wasn't as crispy as I'd like after we got them home but pretty good and flavorful! The boudin balls were crispy and delicious and so were the hush puppies! The bf, who doesn't like crawfish, ordered the fried catfish and liked it as well! Batter was flavorful but not overly salty and it was fried to a crisp, though the inside was still juicy and flakey! Overall, we enjoyed and devoured every bite. They just need to fix their online ordering, curbside pick-up, and maybe parking situation; I would be more prone to come back if it wasn't such a mess and so dang crowded like Covid doesn't exist!
