The house sauce was a highlight- mild had just the right level of spice- at least for me, and was full of flavor, and the extra spicy on the side was also really good. Everything tasted fresh, especially the Dungeness crab, which was clean and well-prepared. For kids, the menu options were a bit limited for our taste, so we went with shrimp fried rice instead--and it turned out to be really good as well. The service was great, and the ambiance was okay. Vietnamese-Style Cajun Seafood Boil is one of my favorite Fun Foods. Ever since I moved up here, I haven't tried very many places. It's nice that Crawfish Chef is fairly close to where I live. My party of 5 came here at 1:45pm on a Sunday. Parking was plentiful at this time in the strip mall. I was surprised at how many people were there considering it was just past lunchtime, but we were able to get seated immediately. The menu has the usual Viet-Cajun flare, where you want to eat seafood boil or items cooked from the kitchen. I noticed that there was the option to order headless shrimp for those of you who are squeamish about shrimp heada. I ordered a pound of head-on shrimp with added corn tossed in House Sauce at Medium Spicy. The shrimp had nice texture, the corn was sweet and the sauce was pretty decent. We were provided gloves which was very nice. The server was very attentive and refilled my drink when she saw it was getting low. Overall, we had a nice experience and thought this place was pretty solid. If I had one suggestion it would be to have a stock of wet naps considering that this is the type of establishment where you eat with your hands and there is no sink outside of the bathroom. read more

As a group of four we ordered the combo #7 (dungeness crab, snow crab, shrimp, corn, potato, additional sausage), calamari, Cajun fries, and fish sauce chicken wings. We all really loved the house sauce! It wasn't too salty, had great flavor, and coated the seafood well. The seafood itself was definitely fresher than some places I've had in Washington. Their calamari wasn't the best, the rings are smaller and the batter is much thinner than I usually prefer. The same went for their fish sauce wings. The other three people in my group loved them but I felt like the sauce was lacking the actual fish sauce flavor. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly crispy outside and juicy inside. The fries on the other hand were AMAZING lol. They were cooked just right and the Cajun seasoning gave them an addicting kick. All in all, pretty good and our order was just the perfect amount to feed four people. Service: (5/5) We were tended to by one lady the entire evening and she was the absolute sweetest! We spent around $450 on seafood boils, but the flavor just wasn't the same. The butter sauce had little to no seasoning, and it honestly tasted like it had been rushed. We've never had this issue before, which made it especially disappointing. Definitely a fun experience! I would rate this a 3.5/5 I've done seafood boils before (the crab pot) but it had been a while and we wanted to try again! I split the combo #9 with four people and it was a pretty good amount of food, but we were still able to go out and get a dessert after so it wasn't overly filling. I'll start by saying that a lot of waste is produced here. Almost every item is single use (cups, table cloth, bibs, paper plates, plastic ramekins, paper side holder). I totally get that items covered in butter are hard to clean but it is unfortunate that mostly everything touched by a customer gets thrown away. For the food, we did the combo 9 with mild Cajun seasoning. The spice level was true to mild with almost no spice at all. The food itself was just okay to me. It didn't have too much flavor and I wasn't a huge fan of the way the clams tasted and I usually enjoy clams. My favorites in the combo were probably the crab, shrimp, potatoes, and mussels. The rest was again, just alright. In the combo 9, be aware that most of the portion is crawfish, so if you don't like them I wouldn't recommend that specific combo. The food also got cold extremely fast, like within 5 minutes of it hitting the table. I don't think that's the restaurant's fault but just something to be aware of. For the service, it was also just okay. Our waitress took our order and came back twice to ask how we were doing and if we wanted water. They don't serve utensils other than scissors with the meal so make sure to ask if you need them. They gave us paper boats with limes and plastic ramekins with a pinch of seasoning in each of them but they didn't explain to us what was going on with the ramekins so I felt like we missed out on whatever that was supposed to be. None of us had been since we were kids so we felt very new to the experience, so I would recommend either asking lots of questions or going to a place that will explain everything to you if you have never been before. Overall it was a fine experience. Fun to do it at least once but I wish there had been a little more excitement to the meal. This was such a great night for me, ate out with one of my good friend who is also a seafood boil lover! Lol so I practically came with an expert, she got the combo 2 medium spice and the service was super quick and I was very much surprised by that I mean we walked in got sat and got a couple min to look at the menu then boom they get your order and I would say it took less than 10 min for our food to come out! Everything about the experience was a 10/10! The food is a bit pricey compared to some other places but the size of the shrimp and crab leg makes up for it. You're definitely getting what you paid for. The seasoning was a good combination of flavors and the crab legs and shrimp we got were sweet and cooked well. The servers were kind and attentive. Got combo 1 with house sauce and no spice, it was super good! However, the oyster poboy was on very hard, very crispy bread and didn't complement the oysters as well. We had ordered a seafood boil that contained shrimp, crawfish, and shrimp. The seasoning of the house special was absolutely delicious. Many times crawfish/seafood boils can make their seasoning a tad salty, but Crawfish Chef nailed it. The seafood was not only delicious, but tasted fresh as well! As for the crab fried rice 5/5.
