    Fresh Shucked Oysters
    Don B.

Went here for the first time for happy hour and was immediately impressed with all the friendly and helpful staff. Very inviting and offered great suggestions on menu items. Started off with the Call Me Ol' Fashioned cocktail which is their take on the classic. Well made with one large ice cube. Also had 12 fresh shucked oysters that were amazing. After that, ate several others items off the menu, all was great. I was very impressed with the consistency in quality across all the food and service. I will be back to try more options.

Had a lovely dinner at Seastar. I think we spent around 3 hours there and the waiter was incredibly patient and helpful. It has a very nice elevated modern look with dramatic lighting. I ordered the Grilled Thai Shrimp dish which was amazing. We also ordered a variety of rolls (Spicy Salmon, Super Dave, Pete's Magic Dragon) which were all great. The pineapple cheesecake was delicious. I got a Sparkling Raspberri Cosmopolitan which was delightful as well. Every thing I ate here was amazing and I would certainly come again.

Came here on Saturday night. Place was packed. Ambiance--cozy, romantic. Service--amazing, from coat check to our server. Food was ok. My partner liked his fish/sole. I thought it was on the salty side. Three fish crudo app was good and filling! Grilled Octopus was good. Spicy ahi roll was just ok. Prob wouldn't order sushi again. Their truffle fries are really good

    Passion fruit Panna cotta

Came here for an Anniversary dinner - nice restaurant in Bellevue Ordered some beverages and for our entrees we had the scallops and the cedar salmon. Food was warm and tasty. We enjoyed it. For dessert we had the passion fruit Panna cotta - this was light and refreshing. The house made fruit cocktail on top was a nice touch. In regards to service - there wasn't much communication outside of the team taking our order and delivery the food to us. Overall - the food was good. Service in my mind could be a bit better.

Visited last weekend and had a really nice experience. The food was great, with both appetizers and main courses standing out in flavor and quality. Service was excellent, attentive and friendly throughout. The only downside was the desserts, which were disappointing compared to the rest of the meal.

Decided to treat myself to a nice dinner, and made same day reservations for seastar. There's validated parking in the below garage (amazing ty). We were greeted and sat immediately. The restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks, I was taken through a whole maze to my seat lol For food, I ordered the diver sea scallops with this cream corn base and a passion fruit panna cotta for dessert. The scallops themselves were okay. They were nicely cooked, plump, and juicy, but the flavor was so off. They had this soapy, baking soda-y taste that could only be masked by eating them with the bacon in the dish. The cream corn base was, on the other hand, rich and flavorful. But it was so heavy, I started getting tired of the flavor by the time I was done. Passion fruit panna cotta was overall pretty good. I liked the tart and sweet flavors. The texture was a bit off though. Was a bit more grainy than I'd like. Other qualms about the food: presentation felt like they were trying to be cute and fancy, but it felt sloppy. Portion sizes were also on the smaller size, especially given the price. The panna cotta itself was like a quarter cup of actual dessert, and $12 Service was okay. They were attentive and quick. But at times, it felt a little curt and unwelcoming. Overall, not an awful experience, but wouldn't come back. There's definitely better restaurants to treat yourself to.

Steelhead with apple wood smoked white shrimp

Continuing to offer great service, good food! Nice place to have a celebratory meal. Just want to add more pics. So glad we tired the: - Torched Salmon Belly - Black sesame sushi rice, shiso leaf, unagi sauce, $22 - yummy! - Dungeness crab bisque, $17 (cup) - always a favorite! - Miso Glazed Sablefish (Black Cod) - with braised baby bok choy, grilled shiitakes, snow peas, jasmine rice cake, $49 - love the outside crispiness of the rice cakes! Black Cod was nicely cooked with the miso glaze. Baby bok choy, shiitakes, and snow peas were cut up and mixed together -- I tatsed the shittakes and baby bok choy, but not the snow peas but still great tasting! - Steelhead with apple wood smoked white shrimp (3 shrimp pcs) - Ancho-chili, SW mash cake, chili hollandaise, lime crème, $57 - pleasantly suprised to taste the smokiness in the steelhead! Wonderfully done!

Deviled Eggs with smoked salmon and wasabi tobiko

I enjoyed a delicious happy hour at Sea star. I ordered the deviled eggs and Seared Ahi (the Ahi appetizer not on the happy hour menu). Both were so yummy and freshly made. It's getting so hard to find truly good Ahi anymore. Or even real Ahi, which is becoming so challenging to find. The Ahi Sea Star served was perfection And their deviled eggs were just as good as always, served with wasabi tobiko. It's been a minute since I've been here and I am so happy that Sea Star's food quality and staff are just as amazing as they always have been. Also kudos to the couple who started to sit down at a table that had just opened up, until they saw us get up from the sushi bar to walk over to the same table that became available. When they saw us start to walk back to the sushi bar, they offered us the table . This was SO nice of them, since they realized we had been there longer and didn't really want to sit at the sushi bar. So rare these days and so very kind. Yep, going back again soon!

I was here 4 months ago and ate at John Howie Steak House on a colleague's recommendation. This is the seafood sister restaurant and I came here with my manager who is from Finland. We took an early reservation in Finland it's 10 hours ahead and being from ATL I'm 3 hours ahead. So Anna the hostess greeted us and put us in one of the best tables in a quiet area which worked out super nicely for us. Our server was Gretchen, she was very friendly and professional, gave great advice on the menu and knew it backwards and forward. We didn't eat all day so we started with a small seafood tower that was made for two. Perfect in every way, tempura shrimp with a beurre blanc, crab cakes and arugula salad, and diver scallops. We also got the three fish crudo, which had one piece of each fish for both of us. The pepper (black and chili) kinda can get you so be forewarned! For entrees my colleague got the steelhead with 3 extra shrimp, I went with the Dungeness crab roll and the Dungeness crab bisque. (When in Rome). Both were exceptionally done, I was really happy with my choices! The fish looked crazy delicious and was really well done too. I cannot say enough about this restaurant. It's busy but not early, and they offer a price fixe menu for early birds, perfect for those who want to try high end food without breaking the bank. Parking is validated up to 3 hours, also a giant bonus! Support small owned businesses! This one is just as good as its sister steak house.

We finally tried Seastar after all of these years because they had a non seafood option for my honey to join us. We had a wonderful meal and a wonderful time in this unassuming HUGE restaurant. We missed the JH bread basket, so we were glad to get a few in the offering. The apps; hot and sour Thai shrimp soup was nice, the salad was delicious, and the tuna roll must have been dependent on sriracha for flavor because I'm a salmon girl and even the rice didn't seem to have any flavor. The mains; my steelhead was cooked med rare to perfection and complimented perfectly by mashed potatoes and asparagus, the Opakapaka over rice with mango Mac sauce was a sweeter experience, and my honey is still talking about his pesto Chicken and risotto cake (as was the server who brought it to say it's one of his fave "which is a weird thing to say at a seafood restaurant"). The sweet ending; the flourless chocolate was too rich for one with the caramel, so I went harder on the crème brûlée and took most of it home. Gretchen was our waitress and she was a delight throughout the meal. JH remains the only consistent restaurant group I've been to where the waitstaff def earns the auto service charge. We will be back for sure, maybe this week even for a repeat.

If you follow me here, you know this is going to be a short story. Not every story has a happy ending, but it's still a good one. I was lucky--on a first date, I was invited to a meet-and-greet at this amazing restaurant. We're both European, well-traveled, and share an appreciation for escargot (yes, some of us actually think it's a delicacy). Things were going great--the conversation flowed, laughter echoed, and the wine... well, the wine was supposed to be one thing, but the bottle we requested was "missing from the cellar." No worries--the sommelier recommended a replacement, which was dry, white, and (I assume) wildly expensive. I was too engrossed in the conversation to catch the name, so if it was a $500 bottle, let's pretend I didn't know. Now, here's the thing: as a customer, I'd like to have the wine next to me rather than relying on the staff to pour it from some mysterious corner where even they can't reach it when I actually want another glass. Let us have a real date--pouring wine for each other, making eye contact, and enjoying the moment. It's not a magic show; I don't need the wine to disappear and reappear only when someone else decides I'm ready. The food? Solid. The Kalbi? Cold and chewy. I didn't say a word, just subtly made sure my date ate most of it. (Kidding! ...Kind of.) The sashimi was excellent. The main courses, unfortunately, arrived lukewarm, but again, we were too deep in discussion to complain. Now, here's where things got... interesting. The service was eager--too eager. Every three minutes, a server swooped in. The moment I unfolded my napkin, a hand reached across the table to snatch the holder like it was a high-stakes heist. Then came the moment I cracked. While I was mid-sentence, fully engaged in conversation, a waitress interrupted me to ask if she could take my plate--while my date was still eating. I wasn't even done with my thought, let alone my meal. Without thinking, I just blurted out, "No." Short. Direct. Maybe a little too direct. My date was amused; the waitress? Not so much. But guess what? After that, we were left in peace for a blissful 30 minutes. A win, if you ask me. Eventually, she returned, and I asked, "Are you afraid of me now?" She hesitated. "Yes." "Good," I replied. Look, I used to be a waitress. Rule number one: You never clear plates while someone is still eating. Let us enjoy our meal, our conversation, our moment. The food and wine may be great, but they're just the background to what really matters--the experience. To the restaurant owners: I beg you, please reconsider the hyper-attentive approach. If a table is in the middle of laughter or deep conversation, maybe, just maybe, let them be. Trust me, the napkin holder can wait.

I wish the waiter explained what came on our plate, but he quickly scooted away. The scallops were my favorite. Nice and mild and sweet flavor. The grand also came with 6 sauces to pair. Wasn't sure which sauce went best with which, but doesn't hurt to try? shell on shrimp and lobster claw were the second and third bests in my opinion. - Grilled Black-eyed Perch (4/5): got a smaller 1.2 lb fish. Can get it grilled and fried. Fried is ~$4 more. This fish was around 38-39/lb at the time of writing. Flavors were so great! Not a bony fish at all and didn't have to really pick at it. A tad dry in certain parts, but again, nice salty, zesty from the lemon and herbaceous. This place is definitely on the $$$ side, so can see ppl coming here for special occasions.

I was surprised at how many people were there considering it was just past lunchtime, but we were able to get seated immediately. The menu has the usual Viet-Cajun flare, where you want to eat seafood boil or items cooked from the kitchen. I noticed that there was the option to order headless shrimp for those of you who are squeamish about shrimp heada. I ordered a pound of head-on shrimp with added corn tossed in House Sauce at Medium Spicy. The shrimp had nice texture, the corn was sweet and the sauce was pretty decent. We were provided gloves which was very nice. The server was very attentive and refilled my drink when she saw it was getting low. Overall, we had a nice experience and thought this place was pretty solid. If I had one suggestion it would be to have a stock of wet naps considering that this is the type of establishment where you eat with your hands and there is no sink outside of the bathroom.

We did a belated Christmas gift exchange with friends recently and our friends made reservations here. So glad they did! It's literally right down in the main Bellevue Square hub, so we were able to easily park at the mall and make a short walk to Castilla. Vibes were perfect with low lighting but still a bustling atmosphere. Our server (unfortunately forgot his name) kept solid recommendations coming all night and was so funny and personable! As this is a tapas spot, we tried quite a few dishes and split them amongst the table. Mixta Paella: our server promised us that the smaller size paella was good for 2-4 people and man he was RIGHT. The portion was absolutely insane and I don't think we even finished all of it. Everything tasted so fresh and there was so much flavor to the dish. They warn you ahead of time, but plan for the paella to take 30 minutes for them to prepare. Grilled Octopus Leg: Every time I have octopus (which is two times now LOL) I'm a little worried about the texture, but it was prepared beautifully here and the sauce that it was in was delicious. Salmon & Artichoke Dip: I'm a sucker for any type of artichoke dip and this was no exception. Creamy, rich, and great flavor! Beef Medallions: Tender and cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend. Chorizo & Onion Empanada: Another banger. So crispy and the filling was so good! I actually was on the fence about this one but my husband insisted, and it was a good choice. Patatas Aioli: Crispy layered potato with a garlic aioli? I mean, come on. You can't go wrong. Delicious. This was our first visit to Castilla and I'm sure it won't be the last - would definitely return if I'm dining up again in Bellevue!

I had made a reservation in advance by phone. When we arrived, however, the restaurant told us they could not find our reservation. While mistakes can happen, the interaction felt dismissive from the very beginning. After we were eventually seated, we were not given menus, even though other guests around us received theirs immediately. We waited and asked multiple times but were still left without menus. Eventually, I tried to get the attention of the front desk and asked for a menu. Instead of helping us, the owner came over and told us that we were being "not polite" and that because we were "not polite," we would not be given a menu. Wanting to document our experience, I posted a Google review while we were waiting. Shortly afterward, the owner came directly to our table with the review on her phone and confronted us about it while we were eating. I politely asked if we could discuss it after the meal, but was told that we needed to change the review immediately or leave the restaurant. I was honestly shocked. I've never experienced a restaurant owner approaching diners during their meal and pressuring them to modify a review. This was my father's birthday dinner, and the confrontation made the entire evening uncomfortable and upsetting for my family. To make matters worse, after we got home, we realized that one of the dishes we ordered was never served at all, and no one noticed throughout the entire meal. I understand that service mistakes can happen. Losing a reservation, forgetting menus, or missing an item can all be corrected. What disappointed me most was how these issues were handled. Instead of acknowledging the problems, we were blamed, confronted, and pressured to change our feedback. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe future customers deserve to know about our experience.
