Good big size tasty burgers bigger than most places and comes with a lot of fresh cut french fries

I have to say this is one of the best places in Federal Way to eat hamburgers, and homemade fries. It brings you back to that 50 style dinner mixed with sports bar or just a friendly hangout place. I absolutely loved this place years ago and I love it today. It is absolutely wonderful. so when I bring any new friends to Federal Way the first place that I wanna take them is to places that are great like this one. employees always have a smile on their face. This restaurant is always clean and tidy, and the hamburgers are charbroiled. The french fries are homemade the vegetables on your burger are fresh. I couldn't say enough about this place. My office moved to Federal Way outside the Seattle area. Burger express has been around for 40 years, has won many local awards for burger of the year, and has a drive through. I normally have lunch here and the front desk person always remembers my order with a smile and the staff is eager to please the customers. The space still has the old style character from when it was first opened. During lunch, the place is always packed. Now, I don't eat beef and I always get the prime breast chicken with onion, pickles, cheddar cheese, grilled jalapeños , tomatoes , and mustard. Most burgers come with French fries that are wonderful and the bun is great. I had to stop eating the fries and the bun because I was falling asleep at work. Now the catch here is that most burger places that serve chicken tend to taste like chicken cooked with beef flavor - not at burger express. The chicken tastes like charbroiled chicken without the beef aftertaste. So now I have the chicken burger that looks like more of a salad. They always are accommodating and every time, produces a nice burger that I completely enjoy. That and a bag of potato chips is enough to be filling and keep me awake at work. I finally tried Burger Express after all these years. I got the mushroom burger and some fries with the special sauce. I was confused when I ordered the sauce because the one I ordered was for the burgers he explained so he helped me get it right. The burger was tasty and huge and just enough cheese and mushrooms on it. The fries I could live without, but that's just not my style of fries so I can't hold it against them. The sauce did make them more flavorful for me though. I would definitely try them again. read more

Came in for dinner and ordered two burgers and a milk shake. The burgers, the cheeseburger and BBQ burger were around $12 to $13 bucks and tasted pretty good. It came with a big pile of delicious fries. They do charge extra for sauce i.e. ranch. The milk shake was very thick and delicious. The interior was clean, has nostalgic decor and was comfortable. I recently visited this little gem based upon its popularity amongst foodies. I'm so glad I did. The service was great, the food was very tasty, and the atmosphere chill. The fries and onion rings were good. Don't think the onion rings were handmade but were still good. The burger was super tasty. One of those simple but well makes and put together bites. Burgers are fresh and made to order. Burgers are so big I never eat the fries which are excellent, just to much for me.

Burger Express has been a go-to place in Federal Way since before the big chains came in and offered a lot of cheap alternatives. Window stickers show that locals have voted it a favored place, mostly because a local newspaper gave them an award. Until a few years ago, a favorable review from the Federal Way News from the late 1980s hung on the wall. A couple of years ago, the place changed hands. The quality of food has remained high. The prices for those burgers and fries has skyrocketed. For me, it has become a once-in-a whle treat now. It is just too expensive. Two other things: The fries that come with the deluxe burgers are always hot when you get 'em. But they are also limp as a heap of dead slugs and undercooked. You gotta ask if you want them crispy. A clerk there told us it "depends on the type of potato" they use. BS. Use Russets. Cook them longer. Also, the place needs serious sanitizing. The restroom (the men's , anyway, ) is disgustingly filthy. The front door to the restaurant appears to have NEVER been cleaned around the doorknob, as it is coated with years of hand filth. The current operators need to scrub the place clean. WE might go back, but if the front door looks filthy, we won't go in. read more

BEST BURGERS IN THE SOUND - Now that we've moved from the Sound I'm reflecting on my best of lists, and while the place seems run down and is next to a pawn shop, the staff is friendly, the burgers are second to none, and the chili cheese fries will keep you full for days! Not a place you take impress a date UNLESS you want to impress them with a seriously good burger. They serve the burgers with a buttload of fries so a pro tip is to have one person get a burger and the other to get a basket which ironically is just a smaller burger with no fries. Burgers Express has exemplary burgers. They're big and filled with fresh ingredients. I do wish the buns were a little thicker, but other than that it was a fantastic burger. I recommend getting a shake to go with it - they're thick and taste homemade. I also appreciate that they have a drive thru, so you can just grab and go. The only part of the meal I didn't fully enjoy were the fries. They were pretty oily and lacking in flavor, but the burger itself more than makes up for the fries. Got drive thru burgers and fries and mozzarella sticks plus shakes. Burgers are amazing to have but spendy. Fries tasted a bit greasy but they were fine non the less, good taste. Mozzarella sticks weren't bland. They were seasoned. Kinda a ramen taste to them. Shakes were amazing with real fruit. Service was great. FOOD POISONING!!!!! I just had the worst experience of my life. I came to the drive through yesterday to get some food for me and my family. I got chicken wings and fries and my wife and kid got chicken strips. My decision proved to be a bad one. While I was waiting for the food,(they have you park and wait) which is okay, I walked inside to buy an apple juice for my daughter, I bought one and asked the lady at the counter if I could please have a cup with a straw for her and she told me that I would have to purchase a soda to get the cup.. this is while I have a $3 apple juice I just bought from them and $50 in food coming out. I left a little annoyed but not a huge deal right? I got home and after a couple hours I felt extremely bloated and full, for over 5 hours this went on. Then out of no where I got a massive urge to puke, I ran to the bathroom and got down on my knees and puked out everything I had violently, many times. I was hoping that would be the end of it. Then it started coming out the other end as liquid too. I was up violently throwing up, shaking, and pooping my brains out, I could not even get water to stay down. Dozens of times I ran to the toilet while I tried to rest on the couch to not disturb my family. It is now 4:38 the following day I finally got some water with hydration mix to stay down for 30 minutes. I don't know what happened as far as there cooking process but I feel like that could have killed me. I am extremely lucky my wife and daughter did not eat any chicken wings. read more
