I remember when this place first opened but never got a chance to really try it as my family frequented other burger places in Federal Way. My little brother wanted to buy my boyfriend a birthday meal since he was busy working and not able to do a full birthday celebration. I got the Hawaiian burger meal and catfish burger, my boyfriend got their grilled onions burger meal and grilled chicken burger, and my brother got their spicy chicken burger meal and a side order of their curly fries and onion rings. When we arrived, we were told for our fountain drinks for our meal that we could chose whatever we wanted from their fridge as their machine was broken. The food took a few more minutes than the estimated time but it was fine as they got everything correct and it gave me time to ask my brother what he wanted for his drink. The service here seemed friendly and professional as they were very good about informing us when we told them that we were picking up an order and to all those who came after us. The store seems small outside but they had quite a bit of seating and tables for those who wanted to dine in. The decor is retro and gives very much a classic diner vibe which I enjoy. The food here was very tasty! The fries, curly fries and onion rings were delicious and went well with the fry sauce they provide here. The burgers were cooked to perfection! My little brother really enjoyed their spicy chicken burger as being the perfect level of spiciness. I really loved the catfish burger too, it wasn't too thin or thick. The one star is for the fries only. We ordered salmon and chip and cod and chips and they we very small and skimpy. I didn't know their mushroom and Swiss burger came with Lettuce, tomato and ketchup! What in the world! Bun was soggy from the tomato and ketchup and I even tried to salvage the meat patty but it was too salty! A big NO for me. I will not return and I won't miss it. Used to be good before covid hit. The restaurant needs a deep cleaning and the oil they were using was very dark. No thank you. read more

I like lD the girl on which burgers were grilled but the patty was too well done for my taste. Had it not been for the patty that was same size as bun it would have been a noteworthy burger what with the condiments, lettuce, tomatoes and dill pickles. The crinkle fries were nice but not extra crusty as requested. My chocolate-banana malt was good and real bananas versus syrup were employed. The lone front-of house person was cheerful and attentive despite running from one end to the other. The inside still showed remnants of the Subway that was and not well kept. I've been meaning to visit Flame Burger for about 3 years. The problem is it's off the beaten path (Hwy 99) and is most of the way to Brown's Point. That always seemed like too much effort for a burger basket. I was wrong about it being too much effort. The burgers are freshly grilled, toppings are fresh and applied thoughfully. They have about a dozen burger variants, my wife had the grilled onion cheeseburger and I had the Cali-burger (avacado & bacon). Both were excellent, significantly better than the local chain-burgers and we both felt the had the edge over the fast casuals as well. As to the sides, we shared a large Fried Zucchini (served with ranch). They were plentiful and the fry was flawless. Service was great and the prices were surprisingly inexpensive. The only down side is there isn't a lot of seating and a burger basket this good should be eaten while hot. They're 25 minutes out of my way and I'm looking forward to going back. read more

We were staying in the area and looking for somewhere close for dinner, so we decided to give Flame Burger a try since they were close by. The parking lot is very small and has maybe only 10 spots. I would imagine it's hard to find parking here but luckily someone was leaving right as we got there. There were a handful of people waiting for their orders when we walked in but we were helped quickly and we were able to find a table since there was limited seating being a smaller restaurant. We decided to order 2 burgers, a drink, and a curly fry. They cook your food to order and everything was hot and fresh. It didnt take very long for our food to come out and they delivered it to our table. The curly fries were crispy and so good. The burgers had a charbroiled flavor which was so good. The sourdough flavor was delicious and I love how they toasted the bread. The prices are reasonable here for what you get! We will definitely be coming back here next time we are in the area. They have an excellent selection of burgers and various fried sides here. The food is always good and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly too. The kids and I all enjoyed our meals. The restaurant itself is odd because it's still partially adorned with artifacts from its previous tenant (Quiznos), mixed with a menu board that is straight out of the eighties. First off you can't beat the price. McDonald's or Burger King will charge you more. Second the food is great, as long as you don't mind crinkle cut fries. Which I'm a fan of. Flame Burger Plus Revisit (Aug 14, 2023 Lunch time. Last visit June 2022) This revisit occurred during one of the hottest days in 2023 in WA state. My daughter and I were looking for a burger place for lunch, and chose this place from previous experience of about 15 months. We also wanted to find a place with air conditioning to get out of the heat. Well, the air conditioning was not quite there as far as I can tell. The facility was loud due to the high speed venting fan sounds over the cooking space. I can't quite tell if the indoor air circulation was due to weak air conditioning, or simply due to the air being "pulled" through the high speed loud venting fans. We did not noticed the problem till we stepped out of the store after the meal, when we felt the cooler outside temperature while in the shaded area. This, however, did not distract much from the taste of the food, which was excellent. I have since raised the star rating of this place from my previous 4 star rating, to now a 5 star rating. This time around, the ice tea dispenser was not working. Right beside the cash register has the Specials listing with about 5 or more items. I may have missed the cheesesteak the previous time, or maybe this is a "new" item? I am a cheesesteak fan, and will always try out a cheesesteak if it is on the menu. Daughter had the same Bacon Cheeseburger as she did the previous time. She claimed the burger was just as good as before, the fries were fried well, and the Fried Zucchini sticks (new item ordered this time around.) were divine. The cheesesteak sandwich is different from others. It seems this place uses "Steak-umm" type thin sliced beef as the meat base, with added sauteed onions and green peppers, plus a slice of cheese added to it. The "torpedo" bread was grilled nicely (Bread tastes better processed this way when compared to simply toasting it. Perhaps it is because of some grease from the grilled meat sticking to it?). The only downside is that it did not have enough of the sauteed vegetables; other than that, I find that it is the best tasting cheesesteak I've ever had in WA state so far. The fries, fried zucchini, and the Pepsi products also complimented the meal excellently. The staff were pleasant (Not sure where the boss is.) and the "piped" background music provided a cool environment to the dine-in experience (partially drown out the loud air vent noise too.). Both of us enjoyed that meal thoroughly. Again, if you are in the area, make sure you make the effort to visit the place and try out the food. Enjoy and tell us your personal experience. They were crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. Jalapeño cheeseburger w/crinkle fries: They use fresh jalapeños so it's actually spicy. All of the burgers are huge and taste fresh! Western bbq burger w/curly fries: Tangy and slightly sweet. It was packed with flavor and the curly fries complemented it well w/its slight saltiness. Onion rings: this was a small order but it actually came with a lot and the onion rings weren't small either! Had a nice crunch and wasn't overly breaded. Jalapeño poppers: omg these were so good. Oooooohhhhhweeeeee! I was super happy with this meal. I was out in the area and wanted a burger super bad so i looked up some local eats and came across this joint. I got the cod and chips basket (super reasonably priced) and my husband got the mushroom Swiss and the western bbq burger. Everything was so so good. Especially the fish and the mushroom Swiss! The lady was very friendly despite being super busy. The fries were crispy yet still had tons of potato in them. The sauces were SO good. Make sure you try their fry sauce and the ranch. read more

This place has become unreliable. Most times when we order during the week it's ok but Friday and Saturday are hit and miss. Today we ordered our usual 2 bacon cheese burgers, fries and onion rings. Fries seemed double fried and bottom of the bunch with all kinds of small leftover pieces. The onion rings were more like onion sticks and curls. Edible, crispy but low on quality. I think they make the burgers first and let them sit getting cold while they make the sides because the burgers are often cold. Today my burger buns were also old. Still highly recommended! August 2019 Back again. Did not disappoint and it never has. There have been different cooks a couple of times and each one gets it the same and exactly right. When flame cooking burgers using 1/4 lbs patties you really have to be on your game and stay on the grill. My burger had fresh vegetable toppings but the foundation was over cooked and dried out. I totally thought that I had reviewed this place! Better lay off the mid afternoon scotch! Totally kidding, I dont drink scotch! Had my other review been posted it would have said that I absolutely loved this little hole in the wall in South Federal Way. I got a 2 piece cod and chips. It came out in about 5 minutes. As you can see from the photos, the 2 pieces that I got were pretty big in size. The fries were fresh and hot. They are those delicious crinkle fries and I loved that my meal included a lemon wedge. After all, what is cod without a squirt of lemon? The tarter sauce was pretty good. Not sure if it was a house tarter or store bought but I can tell you that it was delicioso! Overall, it wasnt Dukes Chowder house quality but for 4.99 for the meal was so worth it! I also like that the fry sauce was kept out in huge quantities so that we the consumers can glutton without judgement or extra cost. I would like to come back and check the burgers out.
