Here's my expert review We came here for our 4 year anniversary, made the reservation a day or so in advance... maybe even the night before? We were sat at a private booth overlooking the wine selection, open kitchen, and dry-aged beef display. Host greeted us, acknowledged the reservation and anniversary. The server did the same as soon as he arrived. ‍ Matt was our server; his global wine expertise helped provide guidance through pairing drinks with our meal. I also love when a server is opinionated on what to order, how to order it, and what to pair together... following his suggestions was a highlight of our experience. He immediately suggested when to order based on how long things take to cook - huge plus in my book so you are aware of pace and can order accordingly. We started with the Shrimp Cocktail and Hamachi Crudo... while the Hamachi isn't something we typically order, the quality was fantastic and such a treat. The Shrimp Cocktail... is simple, its itself, but the size and cocktail sauce, fresh flavor made it a perfect choice. Next we had 3oz of the A5 Wagyu with the recommended Shoyu sauce... perfection. Glad we listened to Matt on this one. We also shared the Prime NY Strip with another Matt recommended sauce... fantastic. We always order our meat Medium Rare, came out exactly that. Meat cut as easy as butter. Crust on the outsides were delicious and not too hard or salty, but just right. Honorable Mentions We were too full to order dessert or anything else, but a few things that caught our eye when passing our table were the Caesar salad, bread pudding, and homemade ice cream. Misleading Advertising & Terrible Customer Service Extremely disappointing experience, especially since I booked this restaurant for our wedding anniversary based on the beautiful ambience they heavily advertise on social media. What they DON'T show is the other dining room we were seated in -- plain tables and chairs, almost diner-like, with none of the ambience shown online. It felt incredibly misleading. I explained to the front desk that it was our anniversary and politely asked to be moved to the nicer area. They were rude, dismissive and completely unapologetic. Instead, we were told we could come back in 1.5 hours. Their explanation was also contradictory: first, both areas are supposedly the same "main dining room" and cannot be distinguished when making a reservation, but then we were told the nicer area was fully reserved. So apparently guests can't choose the advertised dining area, but somehow it can be "fully reserved"? If you're booking this restaurant for the beautiful ambience you see online, beware -- that may not be where you're seated. Poor hospitality, misleading presentation and a terrible way to treat guests celebrating a special occasion. We won't be back. read more

An outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The Wagyu steak was exceptional--perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor. The New York strip was equally impressive, with a beautiful sear and excellent quality. The puréed potatoes were silky smooth and the perfect complement to the meal. The cornbread pudding was absolutely divine and a must-order dessert. The cocktails were stellar, thoughtfully crafted, and balanced. Duck balls were unexpectedly soft. What truly elevated the evening was the knowledgeable staff and their excellent wine recommendations, which paired beautifully with our meal. I was very excited when I heard Scott Crawford was opening a new restaurant, and even more excited when I found out it was going to be in Fenton. The location is superb, especially because there is plenty of space in this standalone building. The location had cool vibes, with an extremely large copper door, a sleek bar in the middle with dim lighting steakhouse vibes, but plenty of windows for seating on the exterior. We started out with the tomato salad, which was surprisingly a major standout for us. The tomatoes were so well-seasoned and the dish was so incredibly balanced - acidic, creamy, sweet, savory. For entrees, my husband got the burger. As a self-proclaimed fry connoisseur, he says these are some of the best fries he's ever had, especially dipped in the truffle aioli. The burger was incredibly juicy and packed with flavor from the dry aged meat and bacon jam. I had the filet mignon with crab oscar sauce. The filet was perfectly cooked and salted - the sauce was rich and delicious, but balanced with its lemon notes. The steakhouse rolls were amazingly light and airy, buttery, and perfectly salted. The grilled broccolini was our least favorite dish of the night - the broccolini itself was grilled nicely and the pesto was flavorful, but the burrata was oddly grainy and lacking salt. I was in Cary for a business trip with a key account customer, and I wanted to coordinate steak/seafood dinner at a locally owned business ... and since I've known Scott Crawford from my previous downtown Raleigh days, I was stoked to be able to check out this spot! GM Bryan was so helpful in setting up a pre fixe menu for my large party & ensuring I could stay within a certain amount per person. Strict compliance meal limits of ~$170/pp and we came well under that! It was such a treat. The shareable apps were the duck meatballs & yeast rolls, and they were tasty! Maybe could have been more airy rolls but none were remaining on the table so all good. Some of us got salads in lieu of desserts, and the Caesar was great but different, a little too citrusy but nice/light/crunchy so I still really liked it. The stars of the show were the entrees & sides!! I chose the 6oz filet mignon & it was the highlight, cooked perfectly rare & needed zero sauce. Others chose either the scallops &/or seared halibut, and they loved them too. The shareable sides were honey glazed carrots, potato puree & mushroom bread pudding. My wife booked this for our anniversary and we're very disappointed. The table they gave us was in a back room with ZERO ambiance. Felt like a hospital cafeteria. We asked the staff if we could sit more in the main dining area, which was what is pictured on Google and Yelp. The staff was fairly rude about having us wait another hour and a half for a table in the main dining room. As we had a child with us, that was not an option. While they told us that they can update a profile for future reservations, we didn't see us coming back based on this experience. The ambiance is dark and the furniture is sleek. They provide light to read the menus because it is very dimly lit. Our server Celeste took great care of us and provided impeccable service. We had the fluffy bread rolls (a must), the duck meatballs, beef croquettes, crab cake, and Caesar salad as appetizers. The crab cake was fresh and highly recommend. I was really excited to try out Crawford Brothers since Crawford & Sons has always been a hit. I was disappointed by first experience here. I ordered a Prime New York strip steak. The steak came out perfectly cooked a medium rare temperature as I had requested. However, the steak was overly salted and was a little on the tougher side. For a high end steakhouse to be asking the customer to pay 3% credit transaction fee seems a bit ridiculous. It ruins the experience of a fine dining place. For a place where the average check is going to be $100, to be asking the customer to pay credit card fees seems pety. I understand if a small local business did that but not a high end steakhouse. It you want to charge the 3% fees then it's better to include it in the price of the dish instead of asking for it separately. read more

Overall Experience: I recently visited Crawford Brothers Steakhouse and had an amazing experience for my birthday! The hospitality was immaculate! Upon being greeted, the hostess asked if we're celebrating anything and wished me a very happy birthday and complimented my outfit. Service: The service was amazing! Our waiter's name was George. He gave us his recommendations and even gave us extra time to figure what we wanted from the menu. He was extremely nice and knowledgeable about the menu. We loved having him as our server. The booths were very nice and could easily be argued as the best seats in the house. Next time I make a reservation I would request a booth regardless of the size of party. We've been here 3 times in a month because it's so amazing and our new favorite restaurant! First of all, you need to be prepared for the prices. It's not cheap but if you go in knowing that, you won't be surprised. This restaurant is for diners that care about true quality and don't mind paying for it. My all time favorite app is the tune tartare. I am OBSESSED - prime sushi grade tuna that melts in your mouth, spicy, crunchy from the peanuts, and the mint puts it over the top. A really unique take that I just thought was superb. And they serve it with shrimp chips! Other favorite apps were the duck meatballs and the oysters. I saw someone's order of shrimp cocktail and they were HUGE. We ordered the dry aged ribeye for a special occasion and I thought it was phenomenal. Their more expensive cuts can definitely be shared. The horseradish sauce was on point. I mean, everything was! Creamed spinach was typical but great. The burger is SO GOOD and a perfect thing to order at the bar. The prep is about the meat. It's a simply constructed but delicious burger. Fries and aioli pass the check of this fry addict. Short ribs are excellent as well, you will love them. Lastly if I haven't convinced you yet, the pastry chef used to be at Layered Croissanterie and it shows! Impeccable desserts with fantastic presentation. As fans of Crawford Hospitality, we were eagerly anticipating the opening of Crawford Brothers in Fenton, and visited during the opening week. The restaurant perfectly complements the modern vibe of Fenton, with a stunning 20+ seat bar, a classic dark atmosphere, gorgeous wine & butcher fridges, and an open kitchen that adds to the fine-dining ambiance. Even though we were seated at a cozy booth tucked away from the main crowd, the servers were attentive without being intrusive, clearing our table promptly between courses and ensuring we had everything we needed. For appetizers, the bone marrow was a standout. The parsley and pickled onion accompaniments elevated the dish, enhancing the texture and flavor. Both our steaks--the filet and the Australian Westholme--were cooked to perfection (medium and medium-rare). I was impressed that there were over 10 sauce options to complement the steaks, which adds a fun level of customization! Among the sides, we especially loved the beef tallow fries, which had a rich tallow flavor (if you enjoy such tastes), and the mushroom ragout bread pudding (hearty and filling). The execution of the meal was excellent overall, but I noticed that the menu seems to cater to a more high-end audience compared to some other steakhouses in the Triangle. For example, only three steak options are under $100, and while the price per ounce is reasonable, larger portions like the 40 oz steaks make it challenging for smaller parties. Besides the "exclusiveness", Crawford Brothers reimagines classic steakhouse sides with a creative twist, which results in portions can be notably smaller than traditional establishments (e.g., Nana's Steakhouse in Durham, Stoney River in Chapel Hill). Personally, I appreciated the creativity, but I can see how it might be a departure from the more familiar steakhouse experience some may expect/hope. For the prices that are charged, the kitchen should be able to figure out if our meals would come out too soon. Most of the steaks were prepared correctly except for mine. I ordered the large filet rare, which should be a cool red center. It was warm to hot throughout. They offered to get me another cut but at that point I didn't want to wait and was with customers. Just wasn't impressed- even the Caesar salad was just ok. If you blanket anything in that much parm it tastes good but a classic Caesar with larger chunks of parm would have more flavor. We had a little snafu with service where our main sides were served before appetizers, but they quickly apologized. For an appetizer, I highly recommend the hamachi crudo. It is served cold with peanuts and jalapenos, giving it a unique flavor. The steaks are definitely served sharing style, as the smallest ribeye you could order was 14oz. This was a great size for sharing between 3 people. For sides, we got the potatoes au gratin and the grilled asparagus, both were very good. The steak was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. We were really disappointed with our experience. My wife made a reservation two weeks in advance for my birthday, yet we were seated in the bar instead of the main dining room. When we arrived, the hostess asked if we were celebrating anything special, and so did our waitress. We told both of them that it was my birthday and that my wife's birthday is next week. Neither ever acknowledged it again. If you're going to ask about a special occasion, there should be some follow-through -- otherwise, what's the point in asking? Although our waitress started off friendly, her attitude shifted noticeably once she saw we ordered the burger. From that point on, she never came back to offer additional drinks, our water glasses remained empty, and we even noticed her spending a lot of time at other tables while completely ignoring ours. The most uncomfortable part was when my wife asked for a box so she could pack her leftovers herself due to a previous bad experience. The waitress said that wasn't allowed, took the food to the back, and never returned. We sat for quite a while until another staff member passed by and asked if everything was okay. Only then did we explain that we were still waiting for our boxed food. For a high-end restaurant, this was one of the poorest dining experiences we've had in a long time. Food is amazingly upscale without the outrageous prices. Preparations are tested techniques. The menu ranges from a 6-ounce filet mignon to a giant 40-ounce prime Porterhouse.. There are dry-aged steaks, Wagyu-style beef from the US, Australia and Japan, plus veal and pork chops. If you notice a nutty unctuousness, then Crawford Brothers finishes their steaks with brown butter mixed with beef fat. The meat locker at Crawford Brothers Steakhouse prominently displays some of the restaurant's beef offerings, including giant tomahawk ribeyes and impressive dry aged steaks The sizzle, the crust all make the difference. The truth is there are a million ways to make a great steak. Crawford Brothers goes with an intensely hot broiler, as in 1,200 degrees hot. Crawford thought about going with a higher temperature sear. "I wanted the crust of a cast iron pan," Crawford said. "So we tried several different broilers: 1,600°F to,1,800°F. It was great if you like char, which I do, but we felt 1,200 gave a nice crust, but still kept the integrity of the steak." Service is top notch fine dining style. The ambiance and service didn't quite match the premium pricing, and while the meal was good, it didn't feel memorable enough for what it cost. Upscale steakhouse with excellent service. All of the waiters were outstanding and helpful. The food was expensive but very good. We had the tuna tartare and it melted in your mouth and had a nice spicy kick. Our filets were perfectly cooked and tasty. The sides were nice and the desserts were amazing, especially the peach ice cream with snicker doodles. Great place for a special occasion or business meal. Just be prepared to pay $150 to $250 per person. Unfortunately, going out for good steaks has become expensive everywhere. read more

We went here for my husband's birthday but took the kids (12 and 15) as well. The restaurant was great about accommodating food allergies in our party, and overall, it was a decent dining experience. We knew it was a splurge and love Jolie, but I will say that even with that knowledge, it was still priced high considering the portions, atmosphere, and food. Both kids had the lambchops, my husband had the filet, and I had the duck. I had to send my duck back because though it is meant to be served rare, even our server questioned the cook on it and it actually tasted raw not rare. We got the broccolini, candied bacon, and creamed spinach as sides, and I'd say the spinach was the best. The bacon was tough to chew but one of the few sides that were allergy-friendly. The lambchops were definitely the winner, but for the price, my teens were still hungry. My husband and I both got a cocktail. Decent. We were sat next to the kitchen, as well as a big table of finance bros at some sort of sales rep dinner, which definitely left the ambiance lacking. We love a fancy night out, but the expectation of a Crawford restaurant, especially with these prices, left us feeling underwhelmed. We've dined at really nice places in Manhattan for similar or lower prices, and as much as I love Cary, NYC it is not. read more
