One could pass by this nondescript "dive bar" in the Westlake area every day and not even look twice. All you'll see outside painted on the building, all you see is "ice cold beer" and "fried chicken" painted on the outside the building. After spending the afternoon, re-checking out the California Science Center to finally see Endeavor and catching "A Beautiful Planet" on IMAX 3D, I decided to stop by Crawford's on my way back home. I walked in and had one thing on mind. Hot chicken. It was early so I easily claimed my seat at the bar and promptly greeted by co-owner Dave. I ordered the fried chicken and was given two choices, hot or regular fried chicken. I went with hot fried chicken having tried Howlin' Rays version, and wanted to try their take on it. Their chef, Brian Garrigues (formerly of now defunct Short Order), is a native of Mississippi and is cooking some of the most delicious fried chicken in the city. Crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. There are bottled hot sauces at the counter should you wish to add more heat. The chicken is served with a pickle and topped on a slice of white bread which by the end of your meal is soaked in oil and juices. You can choose either beans or cole slaw. The bar has a selection of beer in bottles and on draft from your mass produced beers to craft beer. There's also a small wine selection available. Not quite as interesting as the craft beer selection at Southland Beer, but I was still pleased with the selection they had available. Already a fan of Dustin Lancaster establishments (Bar Covell, Augustine Wine Bar and L&E Oyster) around the city, I was really looking forward to this visit and seeing his bar concept inspired by dive bars. The staff at the bar were all very attentive and friendly. If I lived in the neighborhood, I can imagine myself stopping by whenever in the mood for fried chicken and an ice cold beer. The fried chicken and sides are amazing. The bar has about three beers on tap that they serve in frozen mugs. A large selections of canned beer and some wine is available as well. There's always a fun and cool crowd here. A single pool table is available to play on. Outdoor seating is available on the sidewalk. There's two tv's at the bar you can watch a game on but sometimes they have music playing instead of the audio from the tv. A great place to come eat, drink, and enjoy time with friends. I tried the fried chicken since that's their only item on the menu. You would think since there's only one item they would make it really good. If you think their fried chicken is good then you haven't had good fried chicken. What I got was a greasy oily piece of chicken coated with old oil fried coating o the outside. And to make things worse the outer crispy layer had bits and pieces of burnt crisp that you can't really avoid because the burnt crisp was fried into the chicken. I really wanted to like this place but you can't cheap out on not changing the oil especially when the only thing on the menu is fried chicken. I love the variety of cidars I had the pineapple one and they've never had this flavor at any other bar. The fried chicken? The nice people at Dante's Cafe allowed Crawford's to use their food truck to continue food service until their kitchen reopens. So you will see the truck parked in front of Crawford's and the fried chicken continues. Order at the bar and they will bring it in when ready. The menu has been simplified for the time being. Much thanks to Dante's Cafe a neighbor of Crawford's Interesting facts - Crawford's is named in memory of one of the partner's mother. Much of the interesting decor belonged to a partner's grandfather and came all the way from North Carolina. In a very short period of time, Crawford's has become a welcome gathering place. For $10 you get 3 pieces of chicken and a side of either cole slaw or beans. I'm not usual a slaw fan, but I actually enjoyed the slaw here because it's not too mayonnaise-y. I personally didn't find the fried chicken to be that hot (except for the temperature, which it definitely was) and it was a smidge greasy for my liking, but it definitely reminds you of the type of fried chicken you'd get at home, which some people might really like. The place is a little dive bar filled with full on white hipsters with beards and leather black jackets. Everyone in that place literally had the same color palates on. Black and white. Some sprinkled with hats, beards and greasy hair. But I'm here to talk about the food. It's a weird setting bc it's a bar but they serve fried chicken (plain or spicy) and 3 sides only - beans, coleslaw and potatoes salad. Everything tasted alright. I mean it was good. The chicken was extra crispy and moist inside but even with the spicy chicken it was too bland for me. The sides were good but again nothing wow'ed me. This is the spot. The best local hang if you live anywhere in a 10 mile radius. Ambiance, pretty dive but natural. Doesn't feel like its trying really hard to force an Identity like Walts in Eagle Rock or Bar Flores in echo park. Where as those spots for example feel like they spent a lot of time on trying to make it seem cool. This one just is. Zero effort. If you've been to dive bars in the mid-west you'll feel right at home. The food is really really F'ing good. Love those sides and the chicken is honestly some of the best in LA. Just your regular hip local watering hole, with amazing spicy fried chicken. I used to drive past this place and was always intrigued by the simple, yet effective, advertising "ICE COLD BEER", "FRIED CHICKEN". And that's exactly what it is! They have a nice variety of beer, 3 rotations on tap, and some yummy ciders. What stands out is the food! I love a place with a simple menu, because you can be sure they're doing it right. Crawford's gives you one of two options - Regular Fried Chicken or Spicy Fried Chicken. I found the regular one a little underseasoned, so had to use some hot saurce. But the spicy chicken is soooo goooood. The spicy oil they use to fry the chicken dunks it in flavor. The sides - I fully endorse the Mac n Cheese - it is not overwhelmingly cheesy, has little chillies in it, and it goes well with the fried chicken. I also liked the coleslaw, it is fresh and juicy and also a great side. Ambiance is chill and lowkey. Pool table, neon signs, pinball machine, but I wish there was more seating like bar stools. Glad I finally made it here! Really like the atmosphere. They have a pool table and 2 televisions, I believe. Also, one old-school standing arcade game. Came on Friday afternoon at 4:00 and there were 6-8 patrons. I got the spicy chicken basket with mac and cheese. It comes with 2 wings and a breast. The chicken is a bit more oily than I would like. It could be spicier too. Enjoyed the mac. I read in other reviews maybe they have changed the recipe. It is not your classic, cheddar mac, they use lighter cheeses. I enjoyed it. So the husband and I wanted to go out and we decided to go to ktown. The place he found...was closed...so I looked at yelp and found Crawford's. This place is in a small stand alone building caddy-corner from Tommy's and next to taco bell. One thing to mention is THERE IS NO ESTABLISHED PARKING for Crawford's...you either have to look for street parking...or if you go during the day, you can probably get away with parking in the overflow parking across the street. This place is a small divey bar with a super cool vibe, a pool table in the corner and serves beer and maybe wine? Anyway the food that they don't have a huge menu of food just friend chicken and sides and also you have to order everything at the bar. Coming in in the early afternoon on a Saturday, we still found the place pretty packed the few tables were already full of people. So the husband and I decided to sit at the bar...which was pretty convenient...right in front of the bartender. Anyway our bartender was super nice...if you're there to eat chicken there are 2 types the spicy or regular chicken and your choice of sides...we ordered the macaroni & cheese. We then proceeded to order beer, they have a wide assortment of canned beers as well as a few on tap I believe. I ordered this really good sour...can't remember the name and the husband ordered some IPA. Our food came out relatively quickly and it was really really good. Super fresh and delicious....the mac & cheese was good too. They don't have any "dipping sauces" but they have Louisiana hot sauces to use if you want to add some over flavors to your meal. After we finished off our original order, I ordered the potato salad. That i wasn't a huge fan of but i think other people would love it. Yelp says They're open till 1am and that this place is good for late night dining (this should be fixed)... but not even a drink as the waitress/server picked up trash and took it out. .... Ended up ordering pizza and champagne at home for us. . ‍first impressions are the last but I will say that the owner responded quickly to this and said he would makes sure his staff is on it with more training, promised it wouldn't happen again and offered to have us back. Pretty nice place. The beer was on point and the chicken, even better! We got some $3 bucks budwiesers and listen to some kickin tunes and after two rounds, we ordered. The chicken was nice, crispy, juicy and tasty. Nice and hit too! At first, I was clowning the others patrons for eating the chicken with a fork, lol. It was definitely hoy and juicy and you had to use the fork to pull apart the nice crispy skin to dig in. It was worth eating light for lunch and worth the drive. The meal is served with 2 pcs of chicken, 1 side, a pickle, and one slice of white bread. Dip that bread into your beans son! This is a hidden Gem at a very awkward location. No sign saying Crawford's. just Ice cold beer and Fried chicken on the front. Fried chicken is good but the spicy one is much better and add a little bit of that hot sauce and damn.. you are in flavor heaven. The Mac and Cheese can use a bit less water but all the sides were great too! I do love KFC (not kentucky fried chicken... Korean fried Chicken) but this place is a good change up with a different approach. Hit or miss on the chicken as the quality suffers when they're busy. Methinks the oil temperature drops when they're continuously frying left and right as the chicken is oily/soggy and the skin isn't crispy. On the flip side if you go when it's not crowded, the chicken is damn near perfect. The sides are solid with the bbq beans being my favorite. Sweet, tangy... So good. 5 stars for the brews. They have a good selection of fairly priced, old time regional shit beers you'd most likely never knew existed unless you grew up in the area. Ideally, I'd slide right up to the little bar top when it's slow and talk shop with beertender, trying several different canned beers from around the country. I usually only enjoy half of them as again, regional shit beers, but I can bite the bullet and chug the remains as they're mostly 12 oz cans. Salud read more

Yesterday I was sitting on the bench literally on the corner side and a group of guys approached me if they could sit and i said yes I was being friendly and so they wouldn't sit after I said they could and so they went in to the bar and then came back out with ur employee who rudely told me to move to a different table of 2 in a rude way !!!!
