Nice local spot with kind staff and community of customers. Small handful of beers on tap only, but plenty of canned/bottled drinks to choose from. I like how low-key this place feels. There are only a few small-screened TVs so maybe not the best place to watch the game, but there is a pool table. Seats are comfortable and include booths for small groups. This is an update to the very positive review I left 3 years ago. Crawford's has lost its way. It used to consistently be the best fried chicken in the area. And now it's on par with KFC (soggy, heavy, bready). And when food is this poorly executed, all of the little things that I used to consider acceptable tradeoffs suddenly get magnified: -deadbeat/snarky counter service -included sides that have never been any good (such a waste) -filthy tables that don't get bussed or wiped down -ridiculously long wait times (after ordering tonight, it was close to an hour before we got our food...during a very un-busy shift) This place has fallen so far from its original glory, if I were the owner, I'd shut down for a month or two and think long and hard about whether I have any passion left for this sort of business, and whether I have enough motivation to perform a badly needed reset. Otherwise, what's the point? To offend people and take a their money? I've seen similar recent reviews so I'm never coming back to Crawford's. Dear Crawford Owners, When so many customers are leaving negative reviews--and even updating previous reviews because the food still hasn't improved--I hope you'll take those complaints seriously. A bad review isn't about trashing your reputation; it's a direct reflection of what your team is producing and what you're asking people to pay for. If you won't heed your customers' collective voices, then maybe you'll notice the absence of our wallets. I had high hopes for this place. It's right on my drive home, and every time I pass by, it's busy. After finally eating here, I've come to the conclusion that the crowd is probably there for the pool tables and drinks--not the food. Unfortunately, the experience got off to a bad start before we even received our food. The gentleman who took our order came across as very unfriendly. The interaction felt like, "What do you want?" with no warmth or welcome--just a general impression that he didn't want to be there. I tried not to let that color my expectations because great food can easily make up for mediocre service. Sadly, that never happened. What followed was, without question, one of the worst meals I've ever paid for. The fried chicken had absolutely no flavor--not even salt. It was spectacularly bland. The texture was gummy, almost as if it had been boiled instead of properly fried, then dredged in plain flour and cooked with complete indifference. The "mac and cheese" was barely mac and cheese. There was no creamy cheese sauce and very little actual cheese. A more accurate description would be warm pasta salad with spices. It was simply boiled noodles with a faint cheese flavor, some chili or cayenne seasoning, and a few cooked peppers. It was a hot, gelatinous disappointment. Then there was the banana cream pie. At $7, it was surprisingly tiny, which I could have overlooked if it had actually tasted good. Instead, it was gritty and tasted like instant pudding mix that hadn't been fully dissolved. And to top it all off, even the slice of white bread served with the meal was disappointing. My boyfriend thought maybe the spicy fried chicken might redeem the experience, but after this meal, I have very little confidence that changing the seasoning would fix what appears to be a much bigger problem in the kitchen. I genuinely wanted this place to become one of my regular stops because of how convenient the location is. Instead, I left feeling like I'd wasted my money. Reading through other Yelp reviews afterward, I realized my experience wasn't unique--and that's the most disappointing part. When multiple customers are saying the same things over and over, it's no longer an isolated bad meal; it's a pattern. Stopped in to try their fried chicken. Their online ordering wasn't accepting orders, so I went in and ordered at the counter. It's a small bar, about 10 tables or so h some high tops and others are booths and tables. About 10 more seats at the bar. Ordering was quick and easy at the bar, albeit the loud music which required a louder voice. Took our fried chicken to go, one spicy and the other not. I'd give the nod to the spicy chicken. Both were tender inside, crispy skin and just overall some great fried chicken. The spicy wasn't a burn your face off spicy, but it surely has a lot more flavor than the original. I was in the area heading to the Lakers game yesterday with the lady and we went to trusty old Yelp to find food in the area. When I saw Crawfords described as a dive bar with fried chicken I knew I had to check this spot out. It's definitely a dive but the vibe was chill and I get the feeling that most of the people there were regulars. Now I didn't know that it's not a full bar so they only serve beer and wine. They have Budweiser and some kind of IPA on tap, the rest is an assortment of bottle and can beer. I just had a draft bud even though I haven't drank Budweiser in probably 15 years at least lol. The bartender was very welcoming and had great energy which I appreciate. Now for the chicken. It probably took about 10 mins to come out and it arrived fresh and hot. I was told it came with 2 wings and a thigh but when it arrived it was a breast and a drumstick. I'm not the type to sen stuff back unless it's really bad so I didn't complain. The chicken wasn't dry at all and had good, subtle flavor. For a side they were out of potato salad which everyone raves about so I opted for the Mac and cheese. It wasn't the best but definitely not the worst, what I will say is the portion was generous. I forgot to mention they do have a pool table which is always dope. Overall I thought it was a dope experience and although they don't have a full bar, I would probably double back for the chicken. Okay I've visited the place 3x , I love their chicken but earlier today I open the restroom door to wash my hands before I use my hands to eat some chicken and sweet potatoes, ... and Iam sorry to say! but, I feel like I need to speak up and write a review ‍ I saw about 3 water roaches crawled toward the r.r door i fraked out and i yelled ! Then 3 more where around the restroom .A customer APPROCHED ME ! AND TRIED TO HELP ME OUT by killing the roaches . Fkn roaches were invading lol U might wonder ! Did I stayed and eat my food well I didnt want to ask for my money back ... avoid the drama * but when I left I came out thinking that wasn't right! Good vibes, great chicken! Fried chicken and beer. A small menu but they nailed it. If you can catch them on the right day (Mondays for now) they also do a delicious and huge chicken sandwich. They're prices went up, which is a bummer, so we don't go as frequently now but it's still delicious. You shouldn't eat fried chicken that frequently anyway pretty good classic music too! They have outdoor seating too which is nice when we'd bring the dog. No parking though. Hunt for street parking. read more

The epitome of a really cool neighborhood hangout. We went for the chicken but were graced with a great atmosphere. Some may call it a dive bar, but it's got a better vibe than a dive bar. You go up to the bar to order and then they bring your food to your table. Coors on draft for $4, served in a 12 oz beer mug. They had a couple of IPAs on tap for $8 and also had a nice assortment of canned beers. As I said, we went for the chicken. My friend and I each had the "basket of chicken" deal. It's $13 for two pieces of chicken and a choice of one side. You can order your chicken regular or spicy. My friend had the regular chicken with hot sauce on the side. Smart move. I had spicy chicken. Oh my. I really messed up. One bite into it, my eyes started watering, my nose started running, and I was sneezing. Lucas, the super cool bartender warned me how hot it was but I thought I could handle it. I took the skin off. It was good chicken. My bad for thinking I could handle the fire. It was also very greasy compared to my friend's regular chicken. For sides, I had mac 'n cheese, and my friend had potato salad. The mac 'n cheese didn't have a cheesy flavor, it was more like eating plain elbow macaroni. My friend's potato salad was really good, though. You can eat inside or outside. Outside is basically on the sidewalk and really close to the street. It works, though. Get there early if you want a seat. The later it gets, the more crowded it becomes. We went to an afternoon Dodgers game and we somehow ended up taking scooters to Crawfords. I've been meaning to check out this place for the longest time so we figured why not. Initially, it looks like an old liquor store from the outside. Once you enter, it feels like an old dive bar. There's a pool table, a bar where you order your food, and there's cheap beer. We got a basket of chicken, some sides, and some beers. The chicken: The chicken is pretty damn good! The batter is nice and crispy with a bit of kick to it. The chicken is moist. Temperature felt a little warm and less hot so I'm assuming they precook the chicken and leave it under a lamp. It was good nonetheless...but definitely something I noticed. I usually like my food piping hot. The sides: We got some fries, some Mac and cheese, and the baked beans. I don't think there was anything we didn't like. The Mac and cheese was nice and thick, the baked beans were nicely sweet and savory, and the fries exceeded my expectations. Beer: They have a good assortment of beers. You can get cheap beers, you can get some of the fancier stuff...it's all here and it's all pretty reasonable Overall, I'd definitely come back. What I ordered: - basket of chicken ($15): one thigh and one drum, one side (I chose Mac n cheese) and a pickle slice. I ordered the spicy chicken but it was not spicy at all, not even a hint. Seems like the only thing spicy about it was the red color. The breading was heavy in spices but still lacked in flavor. The meat itself was bland. The Mac n cheese was just okay but nothing special. It was a watery consistency and some bites were varying between hot and cold. -spicy chicken sandwich: again, flavor was lacking. The slaw was your standard creamy sweet slaw. The chicken meat was not well-seasoned. The batter was crunchy though. Bread was also cold. It came with a side of sweet potatoes waffle fries but they were overly fried like a kettle chip. They have a small lot for around 4 cars. You can also park in residential areas but I'd be careful at night since it's not the safest area. I was recommended to come here for a chicken sandwich, and it was not disappointing! I don't usually go to pubs, but a chicken sandwich in a pub is a new concept to me. We ordered both a hot chicken sandwich, a regular chicken sandwich, and mac n cheese. This is what I think about it! Hot Chicken Sandwich - I was a little too afraid to try it. I could eat spicy food, but I'm a little too afraid of the spices of a hot chicken sandwich. First taste, it had a nice kick, but I think it's friendly enough for most people to eat this level of spiciness. The chicken was perfectly fried, with a crispy texture breading and very tender inside. This hot chicken sandwich was a little different from all the other one I had before. It was more smokey and fragrant. It was also tangy and rich but not over-powering because the slaw helped balance the overall flavor. I really liked that it was rich but not overly oily. Do we need to talk about the buns? Brioche buns are always the go to for burgers/sandwiches. Regular Chicken Sandwich - This was pretty much the same as hot chicken just without the spice. Though it was a regular chicken, it was still flavorful. The sauce was sweet and creamy. It was perfect for the sandwich. The slaw and tomatoes added a nice texture and refreshment to the dish. The regular chicken sandwich is perfect for people who don't like spicy food. Mac N Cheese - I really really like the Mac N cheese here. All the pasta was covered with cheese but just enough for it to not be watery and overpoured on the cheese. The pasta was cooked andante. The flavor was rich and sharp. It was nice to have it paired with the hot chicken, it gave a nice flavor contrast and to rest your palate. All in all, I liked this place a lot. Good food with a good drink. I really like the outdoor seating area. There is a little concern about the parking though. It was a bit hard to navigate when you parked by the Taco Bell parking lots. The parking there was very limited. There is a parking lot across the street from Crawford's, but I don't know if that is restricted to Tommy's customers only. read more

The boneless chicken just doesn't do it for me quite like the real thing, but it's really good as well. The Mac and cheese was delicious, but I thought the chunks of hatch chilis were just a little too big. The sweet potato fries could have been a little crispier as well but maybe I caught them on an off day. Not a ton of drink choices, as I'm not a big beer girl, but I really liked the mango ipa. Crawford's is easily my favorite spot in LA. I just moved here not too long ago, but I've made my way around the East side! The draft beer selection rotates every time I'm there, but you can always trust that they'll have Budweiser haha. Honestly, I'm usually not the hugest fan of it, but it tastes great on tap with some fried chicken. They also have a variety of craft beers and ciders if nothing on tap sparks your interest. Can't write a review for this place without talking about the amazing fried chicken they have. It's not Nashville style so beware if that's what you're looking for. What can I say that hasn't already been said.... the chicken is so crispy, juicy, and flavorful. Get a side of the hot sauce and if you're sacrilegious like me, mix in some ketchup for dipping. Don't hate it til you try it! This is hands down my favorite chicken place in LA, maybe my favorite place ever? The sides have been great as well. I have tried their mac and cheese (my fav), potato salad, and coleslaw. I have also ordered the tater tots which are extremelyyyyy crispy. Only thing I need to try is their pie! WOW!! Visited a friend in LA and he took us to his local neighborhood bar and my first impression was that it was so inviting and hip! LET ME TELL YOU IT WAS SO GOOD. The sides (potato salad and mac and cheese) were scrumptious, fresh and soooo flavorful. I have to warn you the hot is VERY spicy but nonetheless delicious(my husband and i split a hot and a regular)!! Their drink selection was also top tier and refreshing. The man attending us all night was so funny but sincere in service and thanked us for spending our evening there minding the array of night life LA has to offer.
