This was our first but won't be our last visit to Crawmama's. We drove up from Sylacauga, AL and it was worth the trip. We both enjoyed crab legs that were fresh tasting and so full of meat, ummmm. What ever you do you have to try Gran's Rum Cake even if like us you have to take it home for later. It was to die for! We were seated almost right away and 3 different girls waited on our every need. The steaks looked wonderful and we will be giving those a try at a later date but tonight was all about crab legs. We enjoyed the snow crab but the Alaskan King Crab looked wonderful too. And it isn't every night that the owner walks up to you and takes the time to thank you for coming. Wow is all I can say. The atmosphere is amazing. They have live music and the food and service is fantastic. We had the fried catfish and shrimp. Very kid friendly. Next time we are in the area we will definitely be back. They even have a sand box area for the kids. read more

We liked the atmosphere. I had peel-n-eat shrimp, which tasted fine. Their draft beer was really good, had great flavor. The service, however, wasn't very good, but I'm pretty sure they were short on help, so we didn't get upset about it. People can only do so much. We really liked the music, too. The atmosphere of this place is nice, nothing too crazy or fancy which is good. We didn't make reservations but they seat in kind of a family style so we were able to fit in with a group of random people! Nobody in my group seemed to walk away feeling like anything was more than marginal at best. But you can order a margarita pitcher which was pretty freaking awesome. Unfortunately for me I was looking for a Louisiana/Cajun type of crawfish boil and it became obvious to me this was not the real place for that. The crawfish was overcooked, not very well cleaned, and there were far too many dead ones for that to be okay. The service was okay although the waitress seemed very overwhelmed which can happen sometimes so that wasn't a big deal. She was still very nice and helpful. Overall wouldn't necessarily recommend if you're looking for Cajun Crawfish but if you're just looking to eat crawfish and don't mind it then go for it. read more

Great crab legs and Reds (huge shrimp). Server friendly and knowledgeable. All staff make restaurant feel 'homey'. Good ambience and feeling of restaurant! It is what it is a bayou style restaurant with good eats, nothing fancy! Would recommend and will return. Only negative was rotten potato with wife's meal! I was surfing the web whe I came across Crawmama's. I was hankering for some seafood so I thought, "why not." Well the ride down to Guntersville was very pleasant. We arrived at the restaurant and found it had a quaint almost sea village ambience! My friend opined it was like something you would go to while on vacation! We ordered fried green tomatoes and hush puppies for an appetizer. They were delicious! We had snow crab and mud bugs for the main course! The server was the only reason I give this a 2. The place was not crowded and we asked to be seated away from "smokers". She sat us next to smokers in front of us and beside us. Can not believe we have to endure this type of toxic air this day and time. My Mahi came dry and had no flavor. The baked potato was good. Did hear the crab legs were good at my table. They came with two potatoes. The potatoes were the size of gum balls. The shrimp that came with it was cold and frozen feeling. I'm assuming you have bad cooks or the quality of food is bad. This was a great place to meet and have fun. So sad it has deteriated. Let us know when you become smoke free or have a smokers section and improve the food. The music provided was fun. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. We waited nearly 2 hours AFTER we ordered and still never got food. They had 1 waiter for the entire restaurant and several other staff aimlessly wandering while this guy was literally on the verge of passing out. It is certainly not his fault at all but I am sure his tips were severely lacking due to the poor service. The food may be good but I couldn't tell you. The water tastes ok. That's all I can attest to. Extremely disorganized and poorly managed shameful service. If you cant serve the people who are seated stop seating more people. My friend I have eaten here all of 3 times, and have always managed to get incredibly sick afterwards. We gave it another chance, but as soon as we started the drive home, were already holding our as*cheeks together and swallowing back vomit. This was our first visit. The steak was pretty good and the grilled shrimp was good after I had to send it back once. The food is not worth the price and neither is the atmosphere. The building looks like it was just thrown together. I understand they are going for that cajun type of place but they really scrimped on the building and utensils. They had platters from a Bonanza. We drove for a hour to get here. Heard from many friends about wasn't a great atmosphere but great seafood, so we thought we would give it a try. Well the tea was good... the seafood was so dry and overcooked, hush puppies were like a rock. Clam Strips was like rubber. We complained to the waitress and didn't get any more till we were fixing to leave.was like it had been sitting under lamps for a long time. I heard this was a good place to eat so I decided to treat myself when I heard my favorite blues band was playing there. I told the host I was there to see the band but had to ask twice to be seated where I could see the band. I don't care for fried food or shrimp. Unfortunately there was not much else on the menu. The service was nonexistent. The food tasted like a frozen microwaved meal and I had to deal with cigarette smoke from the occupied tables around me. When I paid my check I was asked how everything was. I responded with a sigh that it was "OK". The man behind the counter said nothing, like he was used to hearing that. The band was great but the mediocre food, lousy service and cigarette smoke mean I will not return anytime soon. read more

I had heard a lot of good things about this place but it turned out to be a disappointment. The food was average and I would give the service a D-. There is no air conditioning and in July in Alabama it was unbearable. The price was ridiculous for the quality of the food. Not impressed. Food was mediocre at best, and the service was horrible. Other than taking my order the waitress came by ONCE after our food was brought by someone else . 30 minutes after we had been done eating I had to stop another employee to get my check, in which I was told I could have just gone to the register.... Because it's my job to get them to take my money ,right ? And the waitress over charged us for our meal , and the people behind us couldn't even get their order placed for the first 20 minutes they were there. AND friends of mine got drinks spilled all over them and were told oh well you are fine . I will NEVER be back!! read more

Crawmama's staff was friendly, but overall the service was only adequate. Dining room is more like a sheltered outdoor picnic area in the former parking lot. The food was fair to average, but overpriced for the quality. Portions are large, but my food was barely warm as it was being held back while the rest of the table's food was being re-cooked. At least that is what they said when they finally brought it to the table. Service and food preparation was quite slow. There was live music and a large casual crowd. The worst thing for me was the thick cigarette smoke. I definitely will not go back. Love this place! Greeted by the owner who recognized me from previous visits. Great entertainment on the patio. I had the crab legs and they were wonderful! Dont read the negative reviews. Crawmamas is an excellent place to go. I'm not sure where these people are coming up with the reviews. They must be snotty city folk. The prices are decent for FRESH seafood. I haven't ever been to a cheap seafood place!!! This isn't captain D's people. Where do I even start with this place. How about the fact that they do not abide by the social distancing guidelines recommended by the CDC to limit the amount of people. This is honestly sickening since Marshall County is a current hotspot for Covid - 19. Also I even heard from "crawmama" herself that she didn't care and would pay the fine or that she knew people and could get away with it. This shows me she has no regard to public health or the seriousness of this virus. Second of all the place does not allow full bands or anything more then one musician because they are "too loud" but yet all over the place they have these old fans that mine and your great great grandparents used second hand running at full blast making enough noise to equal about 3 bands. Then let's cover what is probably the worst part. They ALLOW smoking in the dinning area. I mean it's 2020 didn't they ban that many years ago? I have no desire to get a side of cigarette smoke with my food. Also the service is SLOOOOOOOOW and half the time the waitress didn't even notice me and my girlfriend but catered to the others in our group I sat for 45 minutes without a drink after ordering one multiple times. First and last visit. We all endured for the sake of a family members birthday. Food is way overpriced first and foremost to the point that it's like being charged 20 bucks for 1 corn dog. Some of us in our party left hungry and it's like they can't decide if they wanna be a honky tonk or a restaurant. Loud band, and not even a good band, and the pool hall smoking needs to go, and the wait staff was an all around hot mess. Others are comparing this place to coastal seafood? We came down from KY on spring break with our kids. I had been wanting good seafood and earlier this week we went to Wentzels and Top O the River. Still determined to find a place to suit me we tried Crawmamas. We had to wait until Thursday to go because of her hours. I am super glad we went. The Alligator was delicious.. the coconut shrimp and pina colada sauce was amazing! Kids meals were a great price and a very decent serving size. It tasted like vinegar. I'm assuming it was old (not old in a good way, such as a vintage bottle of wine). Everyone in my party agreed that the food was less than par.
