This place is a huge hit in the Stony Brook area for its brunch and it was worth a try to go and see what its all about! We walked in and there was just so much going on. The environment consisted of all tables packed and a lot of decorations of different stuff from a moose head mounted on a wall, to a picture of Michael Jackson. My boyfriend and I waited about 15 minutes for us to be sat down. We were greeted nicely by a waitress who was running back and forth, but she always checked up on us. We ordered something called Crazy Lattes, which were latte coffee drinks with different types of syrups and foam. They were decent, but when we had it, the latte was very watered down and you tasted more of the syrups rather than coffee. The first dish was the Morning Meltdown Omelette, and it was astounding! the presentation with perfectly cut avocado's with an omelette filled with cheese and cooked spinach. Their crazy sauce was tasty as well having the French fries being dipped in them to get more taste. The second dish was the Multigrain Waffle. Just like any waffle, they tasted good. I couldn't tell they were multigrain. They added a lot of whip cream too the dish, which doubled as decoration for the dish and I really enjoyed that! When we wanted to pay for the meal it took quite a while because it seemed pretty unorganized and everyone was running everywhere. Didn't seem to be management present. Crazy Beans is a must hit when you're in the Stony Brook area! The food is excellent BUT THE COFFEE IS EXCEPTIONAL. I don't even drink coffee and I get it here. But what makes the experience even better is their amazing staff, especially a young man named Graham! He went above and beyond for us even recreating a coffee special we had over two years ago. Okay so this little spot is located in Stony Brook. About an hour drive from me. I figured breakfast why not!? Since I was already in town. Service: I was a bit disappointed w this place. It is a small restaurant which is understandable but the host didn't make that any better. We went in and gave in our name to reserve a table. She said "45 minutes" and handed us a buzzer. The buzzer went off at about 30 minutes. I walked in and explained that the buzzer went off and she then said "another 45 minutes" and proceeded to hand me the buzzer again. At this point I was frustrated so I asked if she can join two single table for our party of 6. She said she couldn't cause it was a fire hazard. So in total we waited more than an hour and a half for a table. Food: this place reminded me a lot of Queens Comfort. Creative menu, creative restaurant style. But the food was ehh, alright. Their flavored iced lattes are absolutely delicious! Also very well presented! I ordered their chicken and waffles and it wasn't great. Waffle was dry, chicken tenders tasted old. My cousin ordered their lobster grilled cheese and that was very delicious! Sweet potatoe tater tots were good too. And their French fries were great as well. The service was good and our food arrived quickly. We ordered a coffee and cappuccino to drink, and the cappuccino was perfection, so foamy and rich. The prices were relatively good too. About a week ago my wife and I planned on going to Crazy Beans .It was a nice day.So we headed out,and all of a sudden my car started to over heat.,and the trip had to be canceled. So the next day we tried again, and this time we made it. And let me tell you!!! It was worth it. The layout of the place is so nice . Retro I believe it called. Every inch of the place is well planned, even the ceiling has something on it,(gifts). It holds maybe 50-70 people,a little close buy , the food is worth it. I visited crazy beans with my best friend this morning around 8:45AM and there was absolutely no wait. We were immediately seated and I ordered the hot rainbow cookie latte and he ordered the iced praline latte. I then ordered an avocado, mushroom, American cheese, and brocolli omlet as well as home fries. My meal was alright, they forgot to put in avocados but my waitress immediately got me half an avocado sliced to put on top of my omlet. The omlet was pretty average. The home fries were salty but delicious! My favorite part of this meal however was the rainbow cookie hot latte, it was amazing and in an adorable Kittie mug. Just went here for the first time and the food was amazing. There are a few reasons why is this place isn't able to get the five full stars but it is pretty close. During the winter this location is cold if you sit right by the door because people are constantly coming in so that's very inconvenient because I am always cold. This location for the business they receive is pretty small. Their checkout is right next to a customers table so we had multiple people hitting our chairs while walking in and out of the building. Crazy Beans is a kitschy, eclectic restaurant that specializes in modern, freshly made dishes to satisfy everyone's tastes. They are only open for breakfast and lunch and are a cash trade business. They don't accept credit cards at this location, but, there is an ATM on premises for your convenience. On to the food. I chose the Neato Burrito, which is 2 Eggs over easy, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, home fries, american cheese, in a whole wheat tortilla wrap. It was very filling and delicious. I brought half of it home with me. Hubby had The White 7 Grain Baguette which consisted of egg whites, tomato, baby spinach and avocado on , what else, a 7 grain baguette. He loved it! While he opted for the local coffee brew, I opted for a Hawaiian Coconut coffee. I was pleasantly surprised because It tasted wonderful! Oh man this is going to be caraaazaaayyy! Kidding. Hungover and tired my Justin M. and I decided to come here to lick our wounds from the night before. The place was packed so we had to wait a little for a table which is okay when it's a nice day. They give you a lobster pager to let you know when your table is ready which gives you the chance to take a stroll around the lovely stony brook village. We were told 25-30 minutes for a table but we were sat in 10-15 minutes. Be warned - that lobster pager goes off like a bomb it is LOUD. We were sat at a small table and bonus points - my cousin was at the table next to us haha. It was like they knew... The interior is unique with little knick-knacks from the 50-60's hanging from the walls. The menu is extensive and it's hard to pick only one thing that you want! They also have a large and interesting amount of lattes (hot or cold) so I went with the peanut butter. YUM!! I wish I could have about 10 more of those. Other than the latte I wasn't feeling very adventurous so I just ordered some eggs with bacon. The bacon was nice and crisp just the way I like it and the home fries were to die for. I kept dipping it in my boyfriends crazy bean sauce that came with his omelette which looked dynamite too. My eggs were eggs - it's kinda hard to mess those up ya know? I think I found a new favorite breakfast place to frequent. Despite how crowded and crazy it got, the service was always on top of things and very friendly. First off the portions are HUGE I knew before I went I had to get the corned beef hash, I never see this on any menus anymore and that was what I wanted. What a perfect hangover breakfast after a long night out in Brooklyn drinking. Through my searching on Yelp looking for a new brunch spot, I found Crazy Beans in Stony Brook Village. A bit of a drive, hungover and craving coffee and anything to soak up the alcohol we made the drive and upon arriving we realized we picked a solid place considering how packed it was. We were told 20-30 minute wait and handed a lobster that will buzz anywhere in the village so we took a nice walk for about 15 minutes. Buzzer went off early and we couldn't have been happier. There menu serves breakfast all day as well as great lunch options. But the real important part of the menu is on the back: the coffee, latte and tea section. My girlfriend ordered the peanut butter ice latte and I went with the columbian coffee. The coffee was good and hot but that latte was heavenly. An iced latte, smothered in whip cream and peanut butter sauce over the top..just wow. Now for the food; another wow for me. I had the morning omlette which was egg whites, turkey, spinach, slices of avocado on top, and crazy bean sauce (their homemade version of a thousand island type sauce) on the side. Served with your choice of toast smothered in butter I couldn't be happier. My girlfriend had eggs your way, so two eggs anyway, choice of bacon or sausage and toast. The menu is incredibly extensive from their breakfast options, lunch options, coffee options, Soups & Salads, and a great kids menu. They have fresh squeezed OJ (which I'm currently sipping on as I write this) along with a Caesar salad that I've ordered (dressing on the side, thanks). Their prices are incredibly fair, the kitchen is open from 630am - 4pm, accept call-ahead orders, their "Menu will be changing, rotating and evolving in hopes of diversifying and staisfying your stomach and soul's needs. Tell us how we can me you happy and we will do so!" How do you beat that motto? And their menu cover features one of my favorite quotes of all time, from the legend and visionary, Steve Jobs. I came here lunch during the weekday, and we were promptly served. I split with a friend the avocado blt and the pork panini (hello pork/bacon!) and they were both delicious. The morning meltdown is a beautiful and mouth-watering composition of egg whites, turkey, spinach and avocado. The sweet potato tots are flaky and delicious, they are a mandatory addition to your meal! I enjoy the atmosphere and the service is great. Cool and cute decor, kind of 50's malt shop. Had the Farmers omelet and my buddy had a build your won. Fresh squeezed OJ and a Breve Latte perfectly made. So good, we came back on Sunday before we left town. My friend had the gluten free pancakes and I the Cinnamon swirl French toast with Chicken Sausage. I was surprised and disappointed at the limited space :/ We walked around town with a buzzer (it worked throughout the village). They have the cutest shops, clothing, coffee shops, baby shops, chocolate shops..there was plenty to see & the beautiful view of the water was right across the street. When we "buzzed" we were seated right away & the server took our orders. I had regular coffee & my friend had a coffee caramel salty sweet drink. He said it was gooood. I ordered the apple cinnamon pancakes & bacon because of the awesome reviews and OMG rollllll meeeee home!!! It was delish!!! My friend had the French Toast stuffed with cannoli cream. Yeah I tasted it. That's right. It was good. But I still like mine better. Thumbs up for the food. The server came by every 15 min to check if we were done, which was a little annoying. This is my first time trying this place, been meaning to for some time. Overall, I really enjoyed it. I started with an iced Nutella Latte. Took my time and then ordered an egg quesadilla with home fries and an OJ. The Nutella Latte was OK. It was my least favorite thing. I regret not trying some of the flavors others raved about instead, as the Nutella Latte didn't taste much like Nutella. It was a little bit bitter as well. The food though, with a nice cold OJ, was delicious. The home fries were perfect, and the egg quesadilla very tasty, came out real hot and well made. Loved it! The service was friendly and helpful. The food menu is typical diner fare including an assortment of sandwiches, soups, salads, wraps and with decent breakfast options served throughout the day. During my visit I tried the Granny Smith Apple/Smoked Gouda Grilled Cheese with Applewood Smoked Bacon. That's a mouthful huh? It was creamy, ooey-gooey and very rich. All in all, a solid choice. We also ordered a basket of Sweet Potato Tots which were alright. Nothing too special. IMO, the popularity of Crazy Beans lies with the drink choices. They're known for their lattes and coffee selections which I must say, were pretty impressive. If you're a caffeine nut like myself and can't function throughout the day without a cup of coffee, you'll love this place. What can I say, quirky, fun and tasty! This little cafe open til 4 is such a fun young vibe in classic stony brook village with lots of locals and SBU students frequenting. The coffee/drink menu is filled with multiple flavor options but presented with an original "insta-worthy" fashion. They make everything to your liking and the options are endless. I got a toasted marshmallow latte but wanted it more like a hot chocolate and they created this beauty. For lunch I decided to try the smoked burrito but got it as a bowl which was large and super filling. Smoked Spanish rice and beans with smoked chicken, avocado, cheese, salsa and a chipotle dressing. You usually start off with a drink and if you order a latte served in a mason jar they're usually pretty big and filling. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes from the kids menu and there were three pancakes with whipped cream in an order. That was two too many for me and I ended up taking the them to go. My friend ordered the old fashioned corned beef and banana chocolate chip peanut butter pancakes (again from the kids menu) and took her entire pancake order home.
