First time, on a holiday, and the food was amazing! First off, the wait really wasn't awful for being Mother's day. The hostess, who may have been an owner (not sure), was very friendly. Our waitress was awesome and another waiter tended to us to calm down our toddler who was having a fit. He chilled her out a bit. I appreciate that as a mom. Now for the food: I got the Pontchartrain Benedict and my husband got the Cochon Benedict. Both were really good. I normally like my poached eggs to be a little more runny but they still tasted good. The crab cakes were perfect! I judge a place by their crab cakes and this place has great ones! The pulled pork was really good. The sauce was a little spicy but we love spice so it was great! Second visit to Southern Kitchen. It is a nice all-around menu for breakfast/brunch - there's something for everyone. Omelettes are prepared nicely. My guy enjoyed the schnitzel. Service is the key here at Crazy Pig. The owner is watchful over both the back and front of the house, which helps all areas run smoothly. The servers seem genuine and happy to serve. Horrible experience! Called to see if they were taking reservations and was told no. We showed up to the restaurant with 4 of our 6 people and was told our whole party had to be present before seating, even though our other 2 showed up 5 minutes later. Finally our party of 6 was seated at a table for a party of 4 so things were uncomfortably tight. There was an open table next to us that would have fit our party very comfortably, and when I asked the hostess she said it was being saved for a party of 8. (No reservations...remember?). When I asked the manager she said that our current table was suitable for our party, and also said the open table was being saved for a bigger party. Well, the party showed up and it was only 6 people as well! Very dissatisfied and disappointed on the way our party was treated! We will not be visiting or recommending them to anyone ever again! read more

Raved about this place to neighbors last night. They did not like it based on their experiences with poor customer service. We assured them they were wrong. Next day, decided to treat neighbors to Crazy Pig. I called in order for pickup at 940 am - Mother's Day. Told it would take 40 minutes. Got there in 30 minutes. Was Told my order wasn't ready, understandably. Paid and tipped more than usual for a take out order based on previous experiences here, plus we really want to support local businesses. Gal told me to wait in car and when order was ready she'd bring it out. Sat in car for 40 minutes. At 1050, went inside to check on things, was told order still wasn't ready she had 6 orders for Mark, Mary etc. then she got to the first order sitting by the register and said my name. I said that's me. Shocked she said "it's been a difficult day. Your orders ready". Really? Got home with cold food that had been sitting on the counter for quite some time. Expensive Mother's Day breakfast mostly to be tossed out. Called back (angrily) to make them aware, was told have a good day and they hung up. They proved the neighbors were correct. This a a nice place that was a good choice for light lunch. The Chicken and Strawberry salad was full of fresh Spring Greens and sweet sliced strawberries with sliced roasted chicken breast. My husband had the plate of Grilled Shrimp and sides of potato salad and smothered greens which he said were very good. Wait staff was attentive but food was very slow coming out of the kitchen. Positive: the place had a nice atmosphere and delicious Coast Roast coffee. Negative:Can grits be too "creamy"?......yes. If you enjoy hot gritty slightly savory ice cream, you would enjoy these grits. I still have the "oil slick" feel in my mouth from a couple bites. Who puts HEAVY CREAM in the grits??!! - this place does and it is kinda gross. Also, if you enjoy your cinnamon roll hard on the edges because they microwaved it too long without asking if you wanted it hot - enjoy! (and it didn't have enough cinnamon to be considered a proper CINNAMON roll.) The biscuits are NOT biscuits - they are some weird kind of bread with an odd texture - not a flaky, nicely dense and satisfying biscuit, not even close. I showed up to make a pick up order. The lady was standing right in front of me and never took my order. She was having issues with the register, but once it was fixed, she still did not service me.
