The other company told me I needed a new compressor for $1699 and they took only cash. After a repairman ran off with $453 of my aunt's cash, I decided I did not feel comfortable giving the HVAC repairman $2000 (with labor) in cash. So, I told him I would seek a second opinion. I called STI Heating & Cooling who were booked for the week so I made an appointment for the following week. Ted arrived on time and was very professional. He took a look at my unit (which is 42 years old) and told me I needed a Hard Start Capacitor for $173. He also checked the amount of Freon (R22) told me I might need a little. He installed the capacitor and added a little Freon and my unit start blowing extremely cold air. Ted's work was great! He told me his father had an old unit like mines and he keeps him father's unit working. I told Ted the other repairman thought I needed a new compressor and Ted suggested maybe the other repairman was not familiar with older units like mine. I am SO glad I called STI Heating & Cooling! I told Ted they are now my go-to company for ALL my HVAC activities. I would highly recommend this company - they proved to be a huge money saver for me.

At best, they're incompetent, at worst, they're frauds. All Temp installed a new AC at my house 2…read moreyears ago. Then, earlier this August, the AC stopped working, and an All Temp tech came out to investigate. Below are the events that unfolded. Aug 5 - Tech comes to house and identifies part that needs to be replaced Aug 10 - Parts person at All Temp had not ordered part because he was unable to find the part number. My husband found the part number in about 5 minutes by looking at the manual for our machine online. After we provided the part number to All Temp, they finally ordered the part (which they said needed to be shipped from China) Aug 13 - I called the sales person who sold us our unit and asked him to help us because we had not received an update on when the part would be received despite calling numerous times. He looked into it and said they would order us a whole new compressor instead of just the individual part of the compressor, and that would be received in their office "soon." Aug 17 - I called the sales person again because we had not received an update. He said the compressor would be in soon. Aug 19 - Received a call from All Temp saying they received our compressor, and they would come and install it the next day. I told them we were out of town, but our neighbor would be there. Aug 20 - A tech came to install the compressor. We received a call when they were done and the AC was working, and we were asked to pay $1,690. This was the estimate quoted to us on Aug 19 when they said they had the part. Aug 22 - Our neighbor informed us when we got home that All Temp DID NOT INSTALL A COMPRESSOR! We called and asked them what they actually did and why we were charged $1,690. As of Aug 26th, they still have not provided an answer. All Temp 1) misdiagnosed the issue with the AC, needlessly causing us to be without AC for over 2 weeks while we waited for a part we didn't need and 2) charged us for services they didn't perform.

Would certainly recommend, but make sure you ask for no techs in training, and double check the solution is to your standards. * The loss of star (1) is because I was charged for (2) techs, because someone in training was along. The trainee did little more than incorrectly place, and then over-tighten my fan blade, which the senior tech wound up coming back to remove. *Loss of star (2) is due to the initial "repair" strategy, being to bypass the high & low safety systems of the unit. It would have operated, but it would have done so until catastrophic failure due to the bypass.

Everyone else suggested to buy a new furnace. Lenard fixed our problem that none of the other guys were able to at a fraction of the cost!! Most importantly, he is very trustworthy walking you through every step of what he is doing. He shows you that the equipment he is installing is brand new, calls the warranty company first before giving you a quote just to make sure that parts are covered . His goal is to save you money. He does not see why a perfectly working furnace should be replaced when he can still salvage it and bring it back to a good working conditon I don't know why of all the places on Yelp I randomly picked him and i thank the HVAC gods I did:). If a two-stage furnace was wired or set up incorrectly and only ever ran in single-stage mode, the homeowner probably missed out on: Comfort benefits - two-stage furnaces are designed to run on low most of the time, giving more even heating and fewer temperature swings. Efficiency - the furnace likely used more gas and electricity than necessary. Longevity - constant high-stage operation puts more wear on components than normal two-stage cycling. It would worth having a qualified HVAC tech inspect the wiring, thermostat settings, and control board configuration.
