Looking for a truly unique way to celebrate a bride or birthday? Check out Creative Chakra! I am really excited to write a review because this place is a little known gem, and I would like to reassure anyone who, like me, likes to read a range of honest reviews of a place that you can get good treatment for a great value here. I found it by chance by following a link from the Venice Inn Hotel. I hosted a bachelorette party for my sister here, which owner and hands-on coordinator/therapist Sandie and her crew, uniquely call a "Spa-chelorette Party" and it was even better than I had imagined it could be!!! There were 7 of us and we had a mix of lounging on the outdoor patio in soft robes eating lunch(we brought in our own potluck) and toasting the bride, interspersed with all of us having fabulous treatments, either facial, body scrub and pedicure or massages plus using the sauna, hydrotherapy tub and showers. We were all still feeling the relaxing and glowing effects the next day as everyone expressed in emails to thank me for planning the party for us all! If you want to plan a party here, I highly recommend it. My suggestion is that the more people you add who want treatments, the more time you allot. We were planning on 12-4 and it ended up 12-5 (which was great for us as we didn't want to leave after being so relaxed, and although the staff didn't mention it, I wanted to get out of their way after they had worked so hard) As Sandie aims to make each party so unique by even offering limo services and dance lessons, etc.,(which we didn't use) that she doesn't post the costs or time frames (like corporate spas do). So I found that I needed a little more clarification and was able to get that by writing up a proposal of what I was expecting each person to pay (we were splitting 6 ways for our selves and bride) and explaining my vision of how the day would go. FYI, parking was the typical balance of finding it on the street, nearby beach lot or calling to get into the lot and use their limited spaces. Plan accordingly. Like I said at the beginning of this now long note, Sandie came through, charged us less than I had expected and the day was absolutely fabulous and memorable. As a full-time student now, I was still able to afford to give my sister the best gift of such a great party because I chose Creative Chakra! Thank you, Sandie and crew. read more

Long story short...from the moment I arrived till the moment I GOT to leave I was felt like I was forced to be spending time there. They had no consideration for what I had going on with my day. They were obviously quite proud of their outdoor sitting area considering how many times they were trying to force me to go out there and wait further. Unfortunately with all the time I spent waiting I had plenty of time to notice the cobwebs in the windowsills and how they obviously have not cleaned the floor don't quite some time. Perhaps with a little bit of organization my two hours worth of appointments wouldn't have taken 3 1/2. I can't wait to go back there for another relaxing and productive Sunday! Lol! (On a sidenote my masseuse was the only person who knew anything and had things together I would go back for her it just is too bad she works at that facility). read more

My husband and I enjoyed our experience at Creative Chakra Spa, from our arrival with tea on the beautifully tranquil porch, to leaving feeling very relaxed after a sauna, couples massage and bathing in the hot tub. It was not a typical spa, which is what made it more enjoyable, it was more of an intimate setting in an unexpected place in the Marina Del Rey. Had a wonderful afternoon here with my husband for his birthday. We had a couples massage, hot tub soak and some really delicious soup and salad outside by a fire. My husband and I both agree we had the best massages we'd ever had. I wandered around when I was outside by the fire waiting for my husband to shower and saw that they have a number of rooms for massage and all of them are really cute. It's simple, kind of a converted apartment setting with candles and spiritual books and nick nacks. It is not anything like Burke Williams....much more homey. Also nice because sometimes Burke Williams is crowded with people clad in white robes and it can feel like the waiting room for Saint Peter. ha ha. This was a little more low key and there were no other people today. Loved it!! read more

I just had a fabulous chakra massage with hot stones . I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to feel relaxed and rejuvenated. The location on the Marina peninsula is like a hidden oasis. The decor along with private outdoor patio sets the tone for rest and relaxation. The staff are great and I loved the chakra oils which are for sale. I had the owner make special blends for me which will be Christmas gifts I know my friends will love. I guess there is a reason why this secluded SOA has been in business for over 12 years. I'm sure this place has an excellent yoga experience - because it feels like a yoga studio. What it is not - is a spa. I was gifted a spa experience here and it was disastrous. I am a spa expert - I probably spa at least 1x per month if not more frequently. And my massage therapist was anything but - I had to constantly move to prevent her from injuring me and she did not key into any of my motions indicating that the massage was not going well. Ultimately, an inexperienced therapist can really damage your body unless you take control of the situation which fortunately I felt comfortable doing. Highly recommend against going here for a spa experience. read more

This place is "off the beaten path" kind of location. You are treated by a very nice lady who tells you your package is customizable about three times. The spa menu is large which is great because it seems like they offer a lot. This place is more of a yoga/meditation type spa, rather than your typical American/Swedish type luxury spa. But for me, given that I meditate, I found it wonderful. The best part is that my massage was really fantastic. If you are looking for a Balinese type spa and not American, you will like this! read more

This place is scary from the outside and not much better on the inside. Dark dingy room with pieces of material dividing the rooms. Shower to shower off the mud was extremely small, your elbows hit the walls My services was the mud wrap with massage. This was supposed to include an infrared Sauna - sauna was broken. A head massage with oil was offered but I didn't want that much oil in my hair. The wrap included a head and foot massage. When they were applying the mud it felt like they were painting a house quick. Mud splattered on my face. Not relaxing at all. I asked what was in the mud because it smelled nice and she didn't know. She massaged my head and feet while I was wrapped. Don't think she really knew how to massage. After a while she asked if I was sweating and then said when you are hot and feel claustrophobic let me know. You should not feel claustrophobic with these treatments. You are suppose to feel relaxed. On a positive note.. someone else did my massage and that was very good. read more

If I could give this place zero stars- I would..I rarely even leave Yelp reviews but my experience here truly compelled me to write a review in order to warn others about this place. It baffles me how this establishment even has an overall 4 star review.. My fiance and I booked a couples massage and being new to the neighborhood, we found Chakra Spa via Yelp. We arrived at 8pm to a business that looked NOTHING like the pictures on Yelp-this place is run down and messy and did not have a relaxing vibe whatsoever. I got undressed and settled into my massage bed only to find the sheets still feeling damp (as if it was taken out of the dryer too early) and the sheets smelling like wet dog! :( It was absolutely gross to say the least. I didn't mention anything because I didn't want to come off as rude and hoped the massage would make up for it... unfortunately, that was not the case. I had Julie as my masseuse and received the worst massage ever imaginable. (For context, My fiance and I receive massages almost once a month so we know the drill). Julie had absolutely NO technique and would just rub my shoulder area over and over again. She would use a ton of pressure on my shoulders and then almost no pressure on my lower back.. After 20 minutes of this, I wanted to leave so badly but again refrained so I wouldn't be rude. Unlike other massage places who use hotel towels first followed by a soft towel, she would wipe the oil off my body so hard with a rough towel that it felt like she was trying to scrub dead skin off of me. Not to mention, the music wasn't even relaxing/soothing and playing so loudly in the room. When it was time for me to face upwards, the horrible neck massage continued but this time, not only was there no technique, her timing was inconsistent. She would work on my left shoulder for 15 or so minutes and then my right shoulder for 5 minutes... I began to question just how mindlessly was she massaging me this whole time?! And EVERY time she got more oil on her hands and rubbed them together, she would splash the oil all over my face unintentionally. I made it clear by wiping my face several times afterwards but she made no effort to be careful/put a towel over my face/or anything!! I wanted to cry.. I went in needing the knots on my shoulder taken out and a relaxing time with my fiance. What I got instead was an uncomfortable and stressful night and paid close to $300 for it.. I should have listened to the other 1 star Yelper's reviews on here.. My biggest regret was hoping that my experience would be an exception and not listening to their words of advise on why we should avoid this place! All the 1 star reviews are SO SO accurate and very closely reflect my own experience. I would not come back here if someone PAID me. I received a gift certificate for this spa so I booked, online, an aromatherapy wrap package. The online part was apparently my mistake. The description, I was informed upon arrival, does not match what is included. I had also asked that the 1 hour massage portion of that package be substituted for a facial: I have massages frequently but was in need of a facial. I got an email say that this was all fine and that I was booked for April 2nd. This led me to believe that everything was fine. When I arrived--after having a difficult time finding the place--it was quite chaotic. Sandie appears very disorganized and we had some difficulty communicating. But this is where all the negatives stopped. We worked out the miscommunication, and they agreed to do the substitution and really worked hard to make me feel at ease. Sandie is very big into aromatherapy and customized the wrap, teas, etc. to suit my needs and taste buds. Dana, who did the aromatherapy wrap, head massage, reflexology, and short back massage has the hands of a goddess. It was unbelievable. As I said, I am no stranger to massage and she was hands down the most talented masseuse I've ever had. I felt positively spoiled by the time she was done with me. Sandie then came in for my facial. Again, I was blown away. Even the extractions, which normally hurt like hell, were done gently yet effectively. Today my skin and face are glowing. So after some initial hiccups, I have to say I was impressed with the services. If you are looking for a hotel spa, this is not it. There is a small shower room though and there is a great deal of care taken to make the yoga room redressed and cozy for the spa services. If you are looking for a personalized service with people who truly care about making you feel spectacular, I recommend it highly. read more

My honey and I kept saying we felt as though we had left LA and were on vacation! I spent my birthday here at CCS and it was the best choice I have ever made. It was so private, we literally didn't see anyone else there during our stay. Both of our therapist were professional and talented (I would know I'm an MT myself). And the owner and staff not only helped us, but guided us step by step from parking to leaving. This was the escape I needed for my bday! read more

I was at Venice beach for my bachelorette party. We planned fun in the sun but the weather had a different idea. We were able to get (four) same day massage appointments. This place is real and relaxing. We were greeted with a friendly hello and set up with tea on the front patio that had an ocean view. That is the only one I saw. Most importantly this was the best massage I have ever had. The staff was warm and inviting and very attentive. When I go back to visit Venice, I will be back. All of the facilities are clean and the patio area was a nice touch. The sauna and spa really enhance the massage and overall health benefits. This spa is like Venice beach to me. If you are cool and flexible you will love this. If not you may want to try another place that is more rigid. read more

I just love Creative Chakra Spa. I met Sandy the owner at a LRO event where Sandy and her staff donated free massages to all the athletes with disabilities. I absolutely love Sandy's generous heart and the love she shows to everybody around her . I am very hesitant to get massages due to serious abuse and a bad neck injury in my childhood. Sandy and Dana made me feel very comfortable. Dana was the one that provided me with such a great massage I forgot I don't like to be touched. Thank you for that Dana. The atmosphere was very relaxing, the room very clean and the music perfect.After the massage I was invited to stay on the outside patio and was offered tea. Loved it and felt so taken care of. The massage stayed with me for a solid 2 weeks where i felt more relaxed than ever before. The practitioners are true healers and the place is a very all-encompassing experience. From picking tarot at the start of a session with tea and quite reflection to the after-treatment far infrared sauna and vitamin C shower. It has a very Hawaiian feel to it and I have arrived completely frazzled only to be reconnected with a peaceful and grounded state of well-being, plus it's right on the beach and you are encouraged to go stroll and return, never hurried. read more

I booked last week for a facial and craniosacral treatment. Craniosacral treatment was not done, this review is strictly for the facial/facialist and the experience. Facial: 5 stars And really, it's the facialst's technique and massage that were 5 star. I don't recall her name but she was very sweet, quiet, did a great job. The products used and were not impressive especially if you're used to really high end products/spas. As I mentioned, the craniosacral treatment therapy was not done despite having been there 2 hours. I won't go into details as I feel uneasy with being negative however I will say this: the other posts about feeling deceived, not enough therapists, owner interactions, location --were all true. Overall experience: 0 stars Not the luxurious, relaxing spa-type environment. No sense of cohesiveness, very scattered and didn't feel valued as a customer. I came using a gift certificate my husband had purchased for me for my birthday (who feels terrible because the website make this place seem like a dream) and still have enough left to cover another treatment but I will not be returning. Sometimes just better to just leave the experience as a lesson learned. Sucks because I really was looking forward to this. read more

The massage was very pleasant and refreshing. The ambiance was clean, warm, and with nice music all around. The facility overall is one of the best around. It's wonderful that they are expanding without increasing prices! Makes us want to come back again and again! The zen of the facility is very calming and relaxing. One suggestion would be that I would really love a cup of hot tea in addition to cold water while in the Jacuzzi. I loved it when Ting massaged my arms and finished with finger tips. 5 stars for my massage therapist, Meomi (sp!?) I was suffering with low back pain and she gave me an excellent massage. I booked the 7:30pm appointment aft 5 this evening, so was really thrilled that it was a good experience. I can see what some other reviewers are saying on a few points, it's not a fancy spa, more of a Venice beach style place, but all the necessities for a great experience...nice heated massage table with very soft comfortable bedding, great smelling massage oil and great massage therapist. I only got to see the one room that I was in and the bathroom, so can't comment on anything else. read more

Such an amazing, relaxing experience! The infrared sauna was so invigorating, and I felt so relaxed sitting in the sun on the gorgeous patio afterwards. I highly recommend getting a cleansing facial followed by reiki. Ananda's lymphatic massage gave me life! Best massage I've ever had! I could not be more pleased with my experience at Creative Chakra. The amenities were clean, private and tranquil and the staff were so friendly and made me feel like I was the only person in the room. The owner even sat outside and drank tea with me after my treatment! The massage itself was fantastic, I could not have imagined it any better. An amazing experience. My girlfriend and I spent 3 hours of peace and relaxation at this spa. It started out with amazing tea, then off to a wonderful couples massage. It completely relaxed us. The massages were great. They attended to all of our trouble spots working out the knots. Then it was off to the infrared sauna. I have never sweated so much. Then the Vitamin C shower was great. We were always attended to, and felt really special. I would recommend this spa to all, especially couples. read more

Brought my husband here for what we thought would be a relaxing experience, very disappointed. This spa (if that is what you want to call it) is anything but relaxing. First, it reminds me a someone's home with a very eclectic mix of "stuff". I didn't find the place serene at all. Second, the owner "Sandie" was sweet, however; very chaotic as Sally W. describes in a previous review. Everything seemed rushed from the moment we walked into the door. Since they weren't ready for us when we arrived, the owner insisted that we take a walk on the beach. After several requests for us to hit the each, we finally decided to go. Upon our return, we were rushed into a room, I was given a robe that was too small, not belt to secure it on my body and I hate to say this....but, it actually smelled unwashed. My shoes weren't even a pair; I had two different size shoes, lol. It was a joke. We had little direction of what we were supposed to do. During my massage, there were several distractions. I can't imagine how anyone can find calm and relaxation here. I actually left with a headache. Sandie was very nice and listened to my concerns regarding my experience and offered me a discount and gave me a complimentary service to try them again.. On a positive note, the tea was good. But, I know I won't be going back. I'll stick to the big chains. read more

Crative Chakra Spa has added a 'tea room,' which is actually a part of the reception area that features various herbal teas freshly brewed. Or you can take your tea out to the back patio to enjoy a little peace and quiet, or my favorite is to take your cup with you and make the short walk up to the beach sand and watch the sunset -- lovely. I treated a small groups of friends to a mini spa day, and the owner included the tea as an extra for our group. It was the perfect ending to our various foot scrubs, soak, sauna and massages. read more
