I have driven by this location about a million times and was always curious to check it out. I finally got a chance recently. This place is so centrally located on a busy cross street of Moorpark and Van Nuys where it is always a hustle to get through. But I finally find a down time to check it out. I wish I hadn't waited this long because the parking situation is a breeze as they give you free hour parking with validation. They didn't have a wait and the space was very expansive. One of the largest spaces I've seen especially because they have an upstairs and a grand downstairs that you're used to seeing from the street level as you driveby on your regular commute. All I can say is there service was impeccable and I loved the gel nails and the pedicure that I got. They had all my favorite color schemes and that's all that I can ask for. read more

One of the best nail salons in the area! Have been several times and each lady I've had has been very sweet and they do great work. They're the salon I usually call when I need to slot in a quick nail appointment, because they're pretty accommodating with last min drop-ins and on a few occasions--have stayed late to finish my nails, past closing. I always come here to do my favorite chrome nails, they're much more thorough (and shinier) than I've done at other places. Got appointment easily I asked how much for gel mani and pedi , they gave a price and I said ok, then asked where do you wanna sit I asked for a massage chair , Didn't mention spa pedicure Price is different than regular. I got to know at the end when I was paying. They never mentioned about different pricing. The place I go to has same price for all the chair, where ever you wanna sit. So that was new for me. DO NOT GO THERE... The WORST SALON I've ever been to. Guy at the front desk VERY HOSTILE AND RUDE. It was so bad the nail techs had to tell him to back off me. The nails pop off like press-ons. They only have elderly clients 65+ so they're not hip to modern techniques in example gel X they messed up. They lied and said they knew how to do it. I came to get it fixed and then the guy at the front desk started being so rude to me saying I need to hurry up and leave because they have to go.. so I recorded my experience and he started recording me back and being very aggressive. I thought it would be a good experience because the lawn looked nice and it was very spacious, but the service was terrible and the Asian guy who did my nails had no problem being extremely rough filing away my real nail. Back in the day this was a thriving, upscale salon right in the heart of Sherman Oaks with tons of great manicurists, and what felt like a plush, luxurious salon. Fast forward 15 years and it's now a rundown, sad shadow of what it started out as. Of course Covid has leaned into salons and affected some of the business, but all you need to do is visit several hundred salons around Los Angeles to see that they are thriving, bustling, and definitely enjoying the resurgence of activity and money coming in. Half of the good ones you can't even get a reservation same week, you're booked a week or two out because of the demand. It's evident that this salon was already on its way down way before Covid from the age of the furniture, the mismatched upholstery, and certainly the demeanor of the employees which is quiet, sad, and almost resigned. My first appointment, was with the owner Anna, and she was running 40 minutes late. I questioned the receptionist why no one bothered to call me to let me know so that I could've made better use my time. This pattern would continue over the next five or six manicures. The first few manicures were pleasant enough, but soon Anna the owner began to actually say things out loud that were completely inappropriate for the owner of the business to a customer. Disrespectful and often times bordering on almost verbally abusive, she took her frustrations out on customers, most likely due to (by her admission overworked and overtired)... AND the fact that she didn't have the skill set to do gel manicures without mistakes. I was even bringing in my own product, the top-of-the-line version of this polish, and know what makes for a successful manicure - and it was clear Anna was not skilled in the technique and refused to take guidance. The last appointment was the last straw. I had called out of courtesy to see if I could add a few services and was asked to move my time. I did so, and was called back within five minutes that the time would not work. So we shifted my time again, and then again within five minutes was told that was no longer available. So I came in at the time they gave me, and the owner was running 15 minutes late with someone who clearly was not a regular client. She eventually made her way over to me with no apology, and then rushed through the services without soaking my hands or bothering to acknowledge me. She didn't bother to check the length of my nails as she filed furiously to make up for lost time, and when I complained that the chair was too low and the gel lamps too close to me for comfort, I was ignored. When I accidentally touched a wet nail to the gel lamp because it was too close, I got chastised and the owner literally said out loud: "I don't know what to do with you!" - completely ignoring the fact she's been over 15 minutes late and was rushing through everything and putting her customers in an impossible position. I still tipped out of courtesy, but made a note that would be the last time I would walk through those doors. Businesses like this have sadly have lost touch with the fact that they are there to support and serve the customer, and if they cannot provide the service that they offer in a comfortable, respectful manner, they should perhaps find their way to another business. Plenty of parking as it's in a rather downtrodden building with a huge parking lot left over from when the building was new and thriving in the 90's. You will need to remember your ticket to get validated. I'm sure some of the technicians are skilled enough, especially for just basic mani / pedi, though the overall vibe is sad; frumpy, no effort made to be friendly or fun. Pricing is very low, which perhaps is why nail techs seem sad and mostly uninspired. Owner seems to place huge emphasis on more and more polish brands- Rather than replacing the worn down upholstery and broken chairs and old school massage pedicure chairs, new shelves were put up regularly of brand new gel sets - the salon is literally swimming in polish and from the moment you enter. Bathroom is kept clean enough, the only real item offered to drink is warm water, and wait times as mentioned vary greatly. Thank you. read more

Maggie was good. Had a bad experience with someone else but decided to give them another shot. The receptionist is an absolute sweetheart. I think her name is Meg. Love her. Anyway, Maggie listened to everything I wanted and tried to match what I was saying. I get that when you're used to doing the same set of nails day in and day out, it's hard to change. But I'm old school. Not into the new nail look- coffin, or bone straight or 85 ornaments. Just nails. And one bad person does not make the entire place suck. Got mani pedi originally- paint was ok; not much of a massage on hands or feet. Tip, or lack thereof, reflected service provided. Daughter's nail gel nail polish peeled within days but she didn't tell me until more than a week later. Bummer. MIL's nails were ok. I'm picky. Again, Maggie did an ok job. I had to file and shape them later but I will give her another shot. I have an appt in a couple of weeks. So here's to giving people a chance! I'll update once I get the fill. I had an appointment at a different nail salon but after they made me wait over 40 minutes past my appointment I gave this nail salon a shot. When I arrived I asked if they could accommodate giving me three different services which would've been a miracle on a Friday. Today I had some luck on my side because after speaking to the owner and different nail technicians they were able to get me in! I was so relieved because it's hard to find time to make a nail appointment in addition to me needing to get my nails done for a special occasion but they were able to do so and exceeded my expectations! Ann worked on my dip manicure and did different designs to personalize my experience and was very patient throughout the process. She was very easy to talk to and I can't remember a time where I laughed so much in a nail salon. Great environment friendly people excellent service would recommend! read more

This is my favorite nail salon. I've been coming here for about 4 years. It used to be named Hands to Hold. I live in mid Wilshire/midtown LA and I drive all the way to the valley to get my nails done. Since they are open on Saturdays and Sundays too, traffic is easy and they have free validated parking. I have never had a bad experience here. I don't have a regular person I see. I see a variety of wonderful people here: Jenny, Q, Gail, Jamie. The service is always excellent. The atmosphere is great. Very spacious and well ventilated. It never smells like a nail salon. I brought a friend here over the weekend and she says this will be her permanent nail salon too. I highly recommend coming here. read more

Like why would that even be an issue ? I was also getting a pedicure and she kept throwing prices in my face like i couldnt afford anything. I was honestly irritated and told her just to do what i ask price isnt an issue. LOVE my experiences here, every time. The team is so welcoming and always easy to make a reservation with, or willing to help out with a walk-in. The technicians have been lovely every time I visit and I always walk out feeling like a million bocks even though their prices are extremely reasonable. For example: a lot of places have charged me extra in the past for a certain shape, a gel removal first, or even to apply a matte finish. They don't do that here - in fact, they laughed at how shocked I looked when my bill was so light at the end of my service. I go a long time in between services and they're always so sweet about taking good gentle care of my bitten, gnarly nails and never making me feel judged. Like, stuff is stressful! They get it! Even the Valet Guy in their parking lot is super nice, too. He always compliments me on my nails on the way out, and since Creative Touch validates parking, I've never had to pay more than $0.70. Love love love my visits here and can't wait to come back! read more

I have been coming to Creative Touch (formerly Hands to Hold) for over 20 years. Up until the pandemic, Creative Touch was a fabulous nail salon. My manicures would last two weeks, and Ann, the manicurist was great. Sure, she would always run about 10 minutes late, but I didn't mind- she did such a fabulous job. I started going back (stopped because of the pandemic) within this last year. With no longer having a full time receptionist, appointments are not recorded, or are incorrect. I now bring my own nail polish because most of theirs look like they have been sitting on the shelves for years. I arranged for a friend to have a spa Manicure, pedicure, paraffin, gel, the works. I booked it a week in advance- as a birthday surprise. I called the day before to confirm, and they did not have her appointment scheduled. I scheduled it again, for the next day. Called the morning of the appointment- and again it wasn't scheduled. I stopped by to reconfirm it was scheduled and they had the wrong time. Ultimately my friend went for her appointment and they rushed her thru. I know this is a long post.. one last issue, I decided to try one last time for a mani & pedi. They called shortly before my appointment to say that the manicurist was running late and could I come an hr later. I show up at the revised time and the person I scheduled the pedicure with could only do my manicure. And I was informed of this in a very rude way. After being rudely treated at a nearby nail salon trying to find an appointment for a simple pedi, I was warmly greeted by everyone at Creative Touch and taken immediately. No spa chairs, but the team makes up for that with the quality of work. Lots of stations, friendly environment, reasonably priced. But most importantly: it's super clean! The nail technician is untrained unprofessional didn't know what the heck she was doing, and when i pointed it out she gave me attitude. As a customer i am paying for the service and the way she treated me was just horrible. The nail salon looks old their nail stations looks like from the last century, chairs are falling apart, just a complete disaster. I have been coming to this nail salon for probably 15 years - gasp! I can not believe it has been that long. I used to live in Sherman Oaks and now Studio City. I do not get to come as regularly as I used to because of proximity. Every time I try and go somewhere nearby, I am GROSSLY disappointed. Ann has been my nail technician for all that time. She is beyond incredible. I am super specific, I won't lie. Ann is impeccable and meticulous. She really is beyond words. The only problem is that once you start with her, you get very spoiled. Now if I try and get mani/pedi elsewhere in between because I don't have the time to travel, I am sorely disappointed and feel as though I wasted my time and hard earned $. Just be aware, Ann books up well in advance so you have to schedule accordingly. She is INCREDIBLE. I love the owner. I can't recall his name but he is very kind and goes out of his way to be accommodating. Like I said, I have been coming here for years and this place is like family to me.
