Had not been to this restaurant in a good while, and was a last minute decision. Good choice. The whipped feta is always a treat -- light and creamy with a solid feta taste, but not overpowering, served with a few orange slices and thinly sliced almonds, and pita. Special dish! Beet salad excellent, but the Fresno peppers had way too much heat, so pushed them to side. My wife had the Moroccan curry, which had a very spot on Moroccan flavor (been there 3x), and was a large, filling portion so brought home leftovers. I had the grilled pork chop which was large, perfectly grill with a tasty bourbon-based glaze, served with a large roasted garlic clove. Wonderful dish. My wife had a white wine that she enjoyed and my martini, slightly dirty with olives (to start) was a large pour and very smooth. Enjoyable meal in a nice setting once again ...

This place is so intoxicating from the aqua blue color palate and funky green art work to the alluring lighting and huge metal plate (looks like something from a ship...also their logo). My brother said the green artwork looked like broccoli. My brother ordered the Idaho trout with coconut rice and Brussel sprouts. I sampled his food and it was all good. The standout was the Brussel sprouts...crispy with this absolutely delicious drizzle. I ordered the Mezze plate with a flavor explosion and many desirable texture. It had lamb kabobs, fresh salad (emphasis on fresh) with thinly sliced cucumbers, finely sliced onions and creamy feta (never had creamy feta), red round sweet peppers, hummus with the most delightful pesto like sauce, and olives. Oh my...what a delicious lunch! Morgan, our server, was attentive and accomodating. She moved us to another table when we notice our table was rocking a little. Great catching up with my brother and excellent meal!

What went well? EVERYTHING. TL;DR, come here…read more The pleasant young lady who took my last-minute reservation over the phone was quite helpful. Our server, Sarah, was the absolute best. Warm, engaging, knowledgeable. She thoughtfully considered my preferences and offered a few irresistible options, She got the chef to weigh-in on a drink pairing I was debating. I chose from the daily specials menu: Veracruz snapper and a sauvignon blanc. Finished with the most luxurious chocolate torte and an espresso for dessert. It was a flawless meal. What a perfectly delightful hour and a half spent with my daughter in a gorgeous space, with beautiful food, and sunset-over-the-water views. At the end of a busy day, where do you wanna go for dinner? Roaring Fork is the right answer.

From the moment you walk in, the place pulls you in...the open kitchen off to the left, the smell of food drifting through the entryway. It immediately feels warm and inviting. The dim lighting paired with big glass windows gives it that cozy, romantic vibe. If the weather cooperates, the patio overlooking Quarry Lake can be ideal, but it was way too hot for that, so we happily stayed inside with AC. I also love that this is one of those places where you can show up however you feel. We kept it casual, but you wouldn't feel out of place dressed up for a special occasion either. It strikes a nice balance...comfortable but still special enough for a date night. Our server, John, came by right away with water and menus and offered a few recommendations, which we appreciated. He was clearly covering a large section, so service wasn't super attentive, but he was doing his best and stayed friendly throughout. As for the food, my husband went with the burger and fries while I ordered the chicken with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Everything came out hot, well-seasoned, and easy to enjoy...solid, satisfying choices all around. That said, the food almost felt secondary. What really mattered was just having that uninterrupted time together, catching up and reconnecting. Great food was an added bonus...

From the moment we sat down, the service set a phenomenal tone for the meal. Our server, Avery, genuinely took the time to ask what we were interested in, thoughtfully guiding us through the menu with recommendations that were, frankly, unbelievable. Every single suggestion was spot-on. As for the food, every dish that arrived at the table was a masterpiece: The Brunch Plate: A beautifully classic, elevated breakfast. The sunny-side-up eggs were cooked to absolute perfection, seasoned with a light touch of pepper and spice. Paired with perfectly golden, crispy hash browns, savory sausage, thick-cut toast, and a rich fruit compote, it was a flawless, hearty start to the day. The Beet & Citrus Salad: A vibrant, refreshing standout. The earthy depth of roasted red and golden beets paired wonderfully with bright, juicy citrus segments, creamy crumbled cheese, and fresh greens. It was beautifully balanced, incredibly fresh, and a perfect contrast of textures. The Pesto Pasta: Absolutely spectacular. The pasta shape held onto the rich, flavorful pesto sauce perfectly, which was tossed with fresh spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, and tender chicken, all finished with a generous dusting of parmesan. It was savory, comforting, and packed with bright, fresh flavor. Between the flawless, attentive service and the phenomenal quality of the kitchen, they made this Father's Day incredibly memorable. We will absolutely be back!

Vida Verde Kitchen -- A Hidden Gem That's Worth Finding…read more Austin is overflowing with trendy restaurants where the food is decent, the lighting is aggressive, and the wait time requires a light snack and a personality shift. I tend to avoid those places. Vida Verde Kitchen, thankfully, is not that. Tucked into a great area but slightly hidden (the kind of spot you feel proud to "discover"), Vida Verde feels like a restaurant that exists for people who actually want to eat, not just post. The menu is a thoughtful fusion of Tex-Mex, fresh flavors, and Americana--familiar enough to be comforting, but creative enough to keep things interesting. Yes, it's a bit overpriced, but the food earns its confidence. The guacamole is an absolute must, and anything leaning Tex-Mex is consistently solid. I can vouch. The wait staff deserves real credit here--knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in the food and experience, which goes a long way these days. The atmosphere hits that Austin sweet spot: industrial touches softened by lush green foliage. It's stylish without trying too hard, which is rare and appreciated. If I had one note? This place needs a happy hour and a few more solid specials. Do that, and Vida Verde becomes dangerous--in the best way. Overall: a unique, thoughtful restaurant that avoids the hype trap and delivers where it matters. Definitely worth your time (and thankfully, not hours of it).

We were seated in the back and were given a chance to order drinks immediately. Sadly, the service after that point was unusually slow for our table. The rest of the people around us were getting served appetizers and their meals before our waitress even came back to take our order. The prices are a little higher than the best Mexican spots in Austin, so I'm glad that I wasn't paying for this meal. Once we were given a chance to order, I grabbed their Quesabirria tacos with rice and beans. The tacos were great. Super crispy and the meat was flavorful. The consomé was excellent to dip the tacos in. The beans were pretty good and the rice was decent Mexican rice, though not exceptional. I would maybe give it another chance if I was nearby, but after having to wait so long to order, I'm a little deterred from coming back, even if I thought the food was pretty good.
