First, I would like to send my deepest condolences to his family, staff, and clients. They probably thought I was crazy because the moment I asked about him, tears started forming, and I had to sit down before I completely ugly cried. Dr. Tang was a gentle yet strong man. He low-key scared me a little, but he was always so gentle and loving with my fur babies. He listened to my concerns, provided a plan of action, and never rushed to medication unless it was truly necessary. He was reasonable, compassionate, and genuinely cared. I am going to truly miss him. Luna has always been scared of the vet and groomer, it's just not her thing. Today was no different. We were greeted by the front desk staff, who were as kind and welcoming as always. We then made our way to the exam room, where the veterinary technician asked several questions, checked Luna's weight, and took her temperature. Next, we met with Dr. Moore. She was patient, gentle, and recognized that Luna was having a difficult time relaxing. She took her time with her, and before long, Luna warmed up to her. I'm happy to report that Luna is healthy, received her rabies shot, and we were never pressured into purchasing services or treatments she didn't need. It's sad to see some people come on here and tarnish this establishment and its staff. Dr. Tang set a high standard of care, and I believe he would be proud to know those standards continue today. Thank you, Dr. Moore and staff, for taking such wonderful care of Luna and for continuing the compassionate legacy that Dr. Tang built.

I bought a puppy last year, a sweet 3 months old Biewer Yorkshire Terrier. When I took my puppy for the third DA2PP at three months old, a replacement vet. Insisted that I will need to have total four DA2PP for my dog. December 9th for the third vaccine and December 26 for the forth vaccine. When I took my puppy there on December 26, they gave my dog DAPP vaccine, Rabbits vaccine, and oral Bordetella. There was no advanced notice or approval on both Rabbits vaccine and oral Bordetella/ there is one treatment on December 9th already. My puppy was 11 weeks old and 3.6 lb on Decamber 26. I was very stressed on more than one vaccine in one visit on a such young puppy under 4 lb and there was no owner approval. When I checked out my dog, I raised my concern and disappointed. All I got was " our tech has right to decide what your dog needs." My puppy came home can't move nor eat/drink for hours. I hold her the whole night and had a very hard time worrying if she would had bad outcomes. She was trained properly after two weeks in my house, but started bad behavior issues after December 26 vaccine trauma for three months until now. I don't think that I will bring her back to Best Care Pet hospital any more. It is sad, I worked with Dr. Tang for over 30 years and in the same location with same staffs since Dr. Tang moved to this location. I can't trust this clinic for my dogs any more.

I've had my fair share of visits with the vet because anytime somethings wrong with my dog, I try and get it checked out right away. The people here are very kind, thorough, they make sure to ask all the questions and also answer all the ones I have. Again, prices are super reasonable too especially with some others in the area I've tried out. If you're in the La Crescenta/ La Canada area, I HIGHLY recommend this place. I brought my dog in for her annual check up and she had some crusting around her lip so I asked the vet tech to have the doctor take a look. When Dr. Youn came out, he casually mentioned that he had shaved her entire chin to clean the area. I did not consent to anything beyond a basic look. Instead, Dr. Youn decided on his own to shave off my dog's entire chin with ZERO communication and ZERO explanation beforehand. I was never asked for permission and I wasn't informed this would happen before it was done. I only found out after the fact, when he strolled in like it was no big deal. No heads up. No "can I do this." Just done. That is not how veterinary care is supposed to work. Vets are supposed to inform and get consent from owners before altering their pet in any way, this is basic professional practice, not an inconvenience to skip because it seemed minor to him.

We brought her in for routine vaccinations, and instead of administering the shots with us present, they dragged her into a separate room. Within moments, we could hear her screaming, crying, and yelping in absolute panic. The sounds coming from that room were horrifying. My partner and I were sitting there in shock, genuinely terrified about what was happening to our dog. My partner was able to see through a window that multiple staff members were physically restraining her. She is a small dog, and I still cannot understand why the measure they took was needing several people forcibly holding her down or why the procedure continued while she was in such extreme distress. This wasn't a brief reaction--it went on for several minutes while she screamed. We have had dogs our entire lives. This was not normal. We have taken her to other veterinarians for vaccinations before and never once experienced anything remotely close to this. She has always done fine with shots. We have never heard her make sounds like that before. It was genuinely traumatic to witness, and I can only imagine how traumatic it was for her to experience. What made it even worse was the complete lack of concern afterward. There was no meaningful acknowledgment of how distressed she had been, no explanation that made the experience feel justified, and no indication that anyone cared about the emotional well-being of our pet. To add insult to injury, this clinic is incredibly expensive. For the prices they charge, I expected compassionate care, attentive staff, and a veterinarian who genuinely cared about the animals being treated. Instead, we left feeling like our dog was treated as a problem to be restrained rather than a living creature deserving patience and care. This experience completely destroyed our trust in this clinic. We will never bring our dog back, and I would strongly encourage other pet owners to think carefully before entrusting their animals to this practice.

My dog has formed a small lump in between one of his paws & it was leaking puss. I went ahead & called Hillcrest & the receptionist was able to get me an appointment for the next day instead of having me come in as urgent. Once I was with the vet, they looked at his paw & concluded that this might have been caused by a fox tail. I tried to explain that I didn't believe that was the case since I had not walked my dog around the neighborhood yet nor were there any foxtails by my home. They were pretty convinced this was still the case despite me mentioning maybe an ingrown hair or some other cause. The vet didn't really listen to my opinion & instead recommended my dog either be given medication or go under the knife. Personally, recommending surgery was a ridiculous suggestion in my opinion. It felt scummy. I went with medication, bandaging & cleaning his wound. It totaled to about $403. In the end, the bandaging they did on my dog gave him a new wound that required me to take him to a different vet 2 weeks later. Turns out, the initial lump was just a symptom of my dog having allergies! Condensed Version: -Staff: Super friendly & accommodating. -Veterinarian: They could do better in listening to the owner, especially before jumping to surgery. -Location: Parking in the area was terrible. -Price: Expensive, $403, they kept insisting I buy certain things despite me saying I already had something similar. -Overall Impression: I appreciate the staff willing to accommodate us at the last minute. However, my dog developed a NEW wound due to their bandaging so I had to take him to a different vet. Recommending surgery was a big red flag to me, turns out, it was just allergies! I would have a hard time returning back in the future.

Then Nikki's care club autorenewed. Ok, fine, the two offices clearly don't share information, so I called VCA Arden and asked to speak to a manager to see what could be done. They weren't available and I was told I would receive a call back. No call. So I call again a couple of days later, same thing. Manager isn't available, but they'll call you back. We go back and forth for TWO WEEKS and they never call back. Eventually AMEX refunds me the money and I cancel care club online. What an abhorrent way to treat a client, especially a grieving client. I will never recommend VCA again, and I will not be bringing any animals back. What a joke.

Dr. Kevin is a calming, reassuring presence, even via text. His compassion for these animals and their grieving owners is evident and genuine. He explained every step of the procedure to us, even details we requested, and tactfully addressed the possible outcomes of both the sedation and euthanasia. Even typing the word is difficult. I appreciated his further reassurance that it was the correct decision and at the right time when he saw the gravity of Xena's condition; I had no doubts, but it was still a balm to my heart to hear it from a professional. I was able to pet her throughout the entire procedure and up until the very last moment we assisted her onto the stretcher. I am so grateful I could spend those crucial final moments comforting her. We preferred communal cremation, so the rates were within the ballpark of other at-home services I had consulted with. However the stellar attentiveness, gentleness, and empathy that Dr. Kevin provided, in addition to his same-day availability on such short notice and all of the glowing reviews here, had my heart set on him from the beginning. Another reason we opted for him over other providers is because he is the one performing the procedure, so we knew what--and who--to expect. It felt much more intimate and personal than a service sending "someone" out. I believe this high caliber of care is how Dr. Kevin so seamlessly blends into the moment: he is another source of the palpable love resonating during such an intense, difficult experience. His demeanor was serene and respectful, and he allowed us plenty of physical and emotional space. Even as he was working, his being there felt as natural as any of my family members. Xena had a peaceful passing in her favorite sunny spot in the flowers, surrounded by her loving family at home. It was the ideal resolution for a harrowing situation, and Dr. Kevin made it possible. When I got him back, his stomach and paws were covered in dried up urine and was clearly not acting like himself. Over the next two days, he had rectal bleeding that continued for two days, refused to eat for three days, and was severely dehydrated. I immediately contacted Ruff Resort to let them know what was happening with my dog, but I never received a response. I ended up taking him to the veterinarian, where he underwent multiple examinations. Between the exams and treatment, I spent over $700 trying to determine what was wrong. The vet did confirm he was severely dehydrated. A two day boarding ultimately cost me $1000. After not hearing back, I called the facility today to ask if they were open because I wanted to speak with someone in person. They told me they had tried to text me. They claimed the first message bounced back but that a second message went through. However, I never received any text on my phone. More importantly, if a customer contacts you to report that their dog became seriously ill after staying at your facility, the appropriate response is to pick up the phone and call them--not rely on text messages, especially if you already know one message failed to deliver. The lack of urgency, communication, and concern was incredibly disappointing. My dog's health and well-being should have been the priority, and instead I was left dealing with a very sick dog, expensive veterinary bills, and no meaningful response from the facility.

A year ago, we had to say goodbye to our boy Milo. He was my soul dog. The morning of, Milo's illness exacerbated & we woke up scrambling trying to call different services that could come to our home & help us with Milo. When my husband found Saving Grace, the one on the phone was incredibly accommodating. We were panicking trying to organize as much time with Milo before we had to say goodbye & they were so flexible & understanding. When Dr. Grace & Steven arrived, they gave us space to speak our last words to Milo. They told us to take the time we needed & were incredibly supportive as they walked us through the process. This day felt like a blur & we were flooded with emotions. I couldn't really think clearly. I am so grateful that Dr. Grace encouraged me to keep some of Milo's fur because I didn't realize how much I would treasure that. Dr. Grace & Steven even took the time to help us imprint Milo's paw onto a cloth so we could have more memories of him. They took an incredibly overwhelming day & made it go so smoothly. I adopted Milo from the shelter & he would get so anxious about going to the vet. Having them come to our home allowed Milo to breathe his last breath in his favorite place in the world--the safety of his home. Thank you Dr. Grace & Steven for being such lights for us in a really dark time. I am so sorry this review took so long. It was painful to type it before, but now on Milo's death anniversary, we want to honor Saving Grace for the support they gave us. They also work alongside a pet cremation service. In two weeks, they brought Milo's ashes back to us in a beautiful small box. I requested a tear drop necklace with his ashes in it. Since this is another service, we did pay extra for this. But we got Forget Me Not Seeds, a card, & a beautiful clay imprint of Milo's paw with no charge. We had friends say that the clay imprint was done so beautifully. Our friends told us that a different service provider from another state had them pay extra & messed up the imprint. After hearing their experience, we are so grateful we found Saving Grace & worked with the cremation services that work with them. We can't thank you enough for giving us the most treasured goodbye.

We adore everyone at the Pet Hospital! Whenever we come in with Amber, Scruffles, and Sandy Jones, we are made to feel as though they are the most important pets that are sitting in your waiting room. Upon entering the exam rooms, I have always had the feeling that all three of my pets are so well known, that the only reason to open their computer file, was to verify specific dates for their vaccines. This level of care and trust is exhibited by my three girls when they see Dr. Speas or any of his techs. I so appreciate that irregardless of how busy the hospital may be, your appointment time is given as a block of time devoted to you, your pets and your questions no matter how repetitive they may be through the years. Dr. Speas understands that I have never quite recovered from having a beloved shepherd die at age 7 from cancer while she was under another clinic's care. As a result, I was left to feel as though that perhaps I should have seen some signs that may have prevented her early death. In the examine room, I have become one of those pet parents who ask a multitude of questions. During this last appointment, I noticed, I became a bit repetitive. Dr. Speas was gracious, professional, and informative and put my mind at ease. I so appreciate the next day's follow up call to see how the girls were doing after receiving their Bordetella Vaccinne. Once again, it is those supportive actions demonstrated by your Hospital that give pet parents the piece of mind knowing that you are with us not only during our well pet visits, but that we can rely upon you during the journey of our beloved, senior pets. Now that both Amber and Scruffles have reached the milestone of those years, I feel blessed to have the Hospital as my partner to guide my decisions so that I can make sure that my girls maintain a healthy and happy quality of life. So far I've yet to have a particularly negative experience here. The staff are generally very nice. The doctors are okay I suppose, they seem to know what they're talking about. Parking isn't an issue, they have their own lot and street parking. At the same time, I think my lack of negative experience is just luck that my dog is able to make it through his ailments on his own with a little help from whatever they prescribe us. They are very quick to suggest the expensive option of treatment and will push hard to convince you to undertake it. Most people, because they lack veterinarian degrees, would take it because they love their pets, as do I. But when I'm talking to the vet, it's always feels like a gamble, what horribly expensive treatment is he going to suggest, only for me to ignore him and get lucky that my dog gets better on his own. He once suggested a $4000 operation on his broken arm to "ensure it heals correctly". I instead had him just manually put the two pieces of his arm together correctly (because the Eagle Rock Emergency Pet Hospital messed it up at that point). My dog's arm healed up just fine, without that expensive procedure, despite all the resistance and nay-say from the vet. I'm not saying I know more than him, far from it. But I feel like a pet clinic has the easy opportunity to charge people up the wazoo, taking advantage of their vulnerability in the form of their beloved pet, and in this financial system, they are incentivized to do so. They are very expensive, that is an indisputable fact. The day will come when I stop coming here and go to another place. I think that day will be soon. They charge $700 for teeth cleaning, whereas every other pet clinic I called in La Crescenta and Glendale charged from $300-400. Time to take a risk at another place I suppose. read more

We took our dog in for labored breathing after a previous misdiagnosis of a collapsed trachea, they gave her a "full physical inspection" charged for it of course, took X-rays that nobody there could read and told us they'd get back to us in a couple of days. Come to find she's in respiratory distress, take her to a pet ER where we have multiple separate ER vets tell us on their own X-rays that she's never had a collapsed trachea but a paralyzed larynx and that if caught quickly enough it's a surgery with a good prognosis. Crescenta Canada sold us cough suppressants for a collapsed trachea for 4 months without a second opinion on her diagnosis that didn't match her breed. (Australian Shepard 42lbs) She had aspirated in the days leading up to both of our hospital visits and developed pneumonia(another thing missed in their "full inspection" of her) The ER doctor gave her chances of a successful surgery at around 20% with a high chance of further complications later down the road due to the level of inflammation that she had presented to them with. We did what we felt was most ethical and let her suffering end. If your pet has a hang nail, feel free to take your chances, anything else please go elsewhere, for your pet, your wallet, and your families sake. read more

All the people at Crescenta Canada Pet Hospital are wonderful! When I first moved to the Los Angeles area I found this place after a couple of disappointing visits to other pet hospitals. When I walked into the Crescenta Canada Pet Hospital I immediately saw the difference from the places I had gone to. The people here are warm and caring and make you and your pet feel very welcome! All the staff are very well trained. They explain everything very well and answer all and any of your questions. They really love what they do and it shows! Your pets will love this place. The doctors will take excellent care of your pets. I love how they talk my pets too - they talk to them like they are very special (which really, all of our pets are!) Thank you, Dr. Speas and all your staff staff for always doing such a wonderful job and being always so friendly. I have taken my 2 cats to CC Pet for the past 13 years. Recently, they have had dental issues and have required more extensive treatment. The staff are super friendly, explain all necessary treatments and give an estimate prior to doing anything. After every visit, I have received a follow-up call to make sure they are both doing well. Our visits have always been very positive although my cats HATE getting in the carriers and riding in the car. I have only used their boarding services twice as we rescued a wandering yellow lab puppy last summer. Since the puppy was too small for my backyard, they "babysat" her for the 2 days we took care of her while trying to find her owner. The staff was super helpful and gave me chew toys as I had no idea how much a puppy can chew!! It was like having children all over again! I would gladly recommend this vet to anyone in the area and there are several to choose from. These guys are the best! read more

AMAZING!!! Dr. Widdop is AMAZING!!! Everyone is very nice and helpful at this hospital. It's been almost 3 months I come here often and I can't thank enough! But my review is specifically for Dr. Widdop. My 1 year old cat was almost gone. This started on April 5th and before I found Dr. Widdop I saw different veterinarians, they were helpless and wanted to put my little Angel down. Thank GOD I didn't gave up on her. One of my great friends recommended me Dr. Widdop and right away we called and next day the doctor was able to see her and right away he understood that she has this creasy FIP virus, which is a corona virus for cats. As soon as he found out what it is he prescribed a special medication and we saw the results immediately. It's been 3 moths already and Angel is doing great now. It was our first visit to your pet hospital yesterday and we were a bit apprehensive since we have not experienced excellent service in the past (at our former pet hospital). I appreciated the attentiveness of the staff and the fact that the vet actually got down on the floor with our sweet Luke! Dr. Leonard examined his legs, made a tentative diagnosis, and didn't immediately request x-rays or surgery. I liked the conservative approach to treating him and I felt Dr. Leonard explained our two week plan with clarity. Before we left, I scheduled my other two dogs to come for their check-ups. This was our pet hospital until this incident. One of the doctors not only charged me for useless tests but also misdiagnosed my pet. after contacting the owner, he strictly went by his doctor's side, even though I told him that I took my dog to another hospital, where they told me NOTHING is WRONG with my pet. At least they could have reimbursed me some of the money, but NO effort whatsoever. NEVER going there again. Would NOT recommend. I have a NEW pet hospital now.... and they are 1000 times BETTER than these. I have always been with CCPH and I find them very nice and professional. My last visit was yesterday with Dr. Baker and she was extremely helpful with Flash and Arrow and explained in detail what was going on with them and all the things that could be done to improve their lives. I am eternally grateful to all the doctors and other practitioners in the CCPH that help our voiceless friends to be happy, healthy, and thrive along with their precious owners. This office is very clean, all the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and they have great hours so they are available to take care of your pet 7 days a week. The day after my visit they called to check on how my dog was doing and sent me a full report of the appointment. The additional follow-up with a phone call and complete results of the exam is much appreciated!!! For this visit I saw Dr. Speas who is great!!! I have seen other Vets in the past when Dr Speas was not available. All the Vets I have seen are great as well. They show a deep concern for my dog. read more

I JUST left CCPH after my second visit with Dr. Widdop in less than a week, and I am beyond GRATEFUL that my senior dog, who has kidney issues and suffers from Congestive Heart Failure, is under his care. My worry, coupled with her fragile state, had me on a roller coaster, and both he and his team (which consisted of the amazing LACY today) put me at ease. I have cats. Many small animal vets seem to prefer dogs. Dr. Wehbe is wonderful with my cats and talks to me honestly about options available for health care on a variety of issues that my cats may be facing. She also listens to my concerns and answers me honestly. She never tries to push treatments that she knows are out of my price range. The front end staff are all pleasant and helpful. Since the vet I previously used retired, I have tried several and this clinic has fair prices and friendly service. They have several vets in the practice for you to chose from. read more

Doctor Speas has been my Vet of choice for many years, sadly a few of my pups have left me and he has always been there for me in those very difficult moments. The new generations are under his care and I am confident that they are receiving the very best of care. The staff and Veterinarians are all above board and conscientious. This vet practice gives our cats great care. Recently Dr. JD Speas saw my cat for a senior check up, checked an eye problem, evaluated it, treated it, and gave me good instructions. Anyone who has a new pet can understand how difficult it is to get an appointment to see a vet as a new patient, let alone an appointment for the next day. They were able to squeeze in an appointment for my sick puppy. It is wonderful that this clinic has weekend hours. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The problem is when he gets there he gets nervous and knows very well where he is so he comes out of his fog. Mind you, he goes in with a muzzle. He cannot in ANY WAY bite her. His mouth is shut. She will send us home and tell us to drug him more and bring him in next time. I'm just curious if she wants him to completely stop breathing before she can examine him. She wants the little dogs and clearly has no clue how to deal with a big dog. I found another vet who handled him beautifully without requesting that he be completely in a drug coma. The staff is nice enough. She is terrible. She has zero bedside manner too. There are other vets that truly care about the pets well being and not just making sure that she charges for office visit after office visit. She should have a sign that says she can't treat bigger dogs so we don't waste our time. She made me feel like an absolute failure to my dog and made me worry constantly about him dying in the middle of the night due to all them meds she wanted me to give him. She doesn't care. That's very very clear. Shop around. Do your research. Find a vet who is dedicated to treating animals as opposed to lining her pockets and making people feel like they have no other options than to drug their pet and feel like a bad pet owner.

When we arrived we were almost immediately brought to a room (where they wrote his name on the door window) and were told that were could take as long as we liked - even before they had me fill out our paperwork. The explained the procedure, took him to install a catheter and brought him back. Again we were told to take as long as we needed. The procedure took less than a minute and I held him the entire time. It was quiet and painless (for him). After they gave me a paw print imprint and hair clippings (which my friend is going to make jewelry out of) I left without paying! I didn't even realize it until a few hours later and when I called to apologize (and pay) they were so understanding and friendly. The only negative thing I can say is that the parking lot is kind of small and this vet seems to be very popular. It's not a vet visit I hope you never need to go through, but if you are in a situation in which you need to, this is the gentlest space with sweetest, kindest staff.

OHASHI & TEAM…read more I'm here to echo the MANY traumatic experiences from people who were seen by Dr. Ohashi - the primary oncologist at VCA and truly an evil human being. A negative experience that not only negligently left our dog PARALYZED in his final days but also spending unnecessary money on a treatment that would not benefit him. It's truly unbelievable that this horrid woman still maintains a job let alone a client facing role in this hospital. I brought my sweet boy Obi in urgently after an unexpected and gruesome cancer diagnosis that we received only 72 hours prior to our appointment with Ohashi. Naturally we were blindsided, devastated, and confused with a million questions about how this could have happened. I spent 20 solid minutes talking to her assistant Dr. Josie trying to thoroughly explain Obi's medical history over the last 2 years as well as what we had been told by our primary vet (which was that he was perfectly healthy as far as they could tell), and that we were given no signs or indications that he had been sick or in any kind of pain. Dr. Josie appeared understanding and empathetic until she left and return with Ohashi and then she never spoke or looked at us directly in the eye again. It was cruel and unusual. I then tried to reexplain everything to Ohashi but her English was so terrible it was like talking to an AI Chatbot and she never fully acknowledged or responded to a single thing I said to her in the 2 days we spent with her. Instead she spoke to us as if we had left our dog to suffer in pain for years on end and repeated statements such as "how long are you going to continue to make him suffer like this" as my husband and I sobbed begging her to listen to us and understand. In addition to this, we clearly stated to Ohashi that Obi was having trouble walking on his hind legs. He had been taken for X-rays and when Ohashi came to speak with us she told us he was having trouble walking on his front legs. Again, we tried to explain that this was incorrect and we had not experienced this with him and she flat out told us we were wrong. AGAIN she was incapable of listening and understanding. Shortly after, they brought Obi back to us and he could barely walk on his front legs. We had never seen this before and it was clear he had been severely injured during the X-rays. This was the last day Obi ever walked again. That night he became paralyzed. We 100% attribute this to how he was handled during the x-rays. After he became paralyzed, Ohashi told us to come back and give him an infusion of medication that would help him walk again. This treatment cost $1200 and it wasn't until after he was given the treatment that we were told by Ohashi that it wouldn't work on him if the issue was neurological (versus due to his cancer). The second she told us this we (even as non-veterinarians) could immediately see that he was knuckling over his paws when he tried to walk meaning that issue was always neurological and zero assessments or acknowledgements were done to help determine this before gouging us for unnecessary treatments. Ohashi was unfeeling, uncaring, and negligent. She was did not listen or understand anything we tried to explain to her nor did she offer us any kind of support or resources. Without support from better doctors we would have rushed our goodbye with our sweet boy sooner than we needed too. Ohashi is incapable of kindness and understanding and should not be allowed to practice medicine. In Obi's final days, he suffered unnecessarily. We all did.
