I have to admit, I was a little leery of going in, as it's in a strip mall, with a beer store and some other business and the exterior tells you literally nothing about the inside. But dayummmmm. You walk inside and whoa! Blues and grays and neutral colors and a very tasteful pull together with wood and iron and ush seating on the walls! Definitely treating people to the old "don't judge a book by its cover" adage and surprising the hell out of them! Can we talk though, about this slamming menu?!?!? My eyes got huge when I started poking through this locally sourced farm to table concept with an open and visible kitchen! Goat cheese wontons, wild salmon fritters, local burrata, and so much more for apps! Soups, salads, warm duck confit salad?!? Holy crap! Blts, wraps, steak frites (Black Angus tenders!!) And the dinners?! Dry aged 17 0z Angus, herbed chicken...and the special I had - Beef short Rib in gravy over diced veggies on whipped mashed seasoned potatoes. Blown. Away!!! I have been coming to this place since it opened over 10 years ago. Food has always been excellent. A little pricey but worth it. Unfortunately, when I went in January 2022 in the middle of the omicron variant outbreak, NONE of the staff were wearing a mask. Not the Hostess, not the cooks, not the bartender, not the wait staff. New York State has is under a mask mandate that requires indoor workers to wear a mask unless there is a vaccine mandate at the workplace. Even if everyone there is fully vaccinated and boosted, considering the amount of breakthrough infections there have been, I would prefer to patronize a business that took additional reasonable precautions. read more

This is in an unassuming little strip mall and we got seated in a strange little cubicle in the back. We even debated leaving but decided to trust the strong Yelp reviews. And we're so glad we did. This place is a HIDDEN GEM!!!! I am a tough critic and I can't say enough good things about this establishment. The bartender we had was phenomenal and the food and cocktails were delicious. We were a little skeptical at first, but so happy we gave this place a try. First of all the food was good, not great in our opinion, but good. Portions were generous and prices seemed reasonable (at least until the surcharge). There were a couple of main reasons we would not go back. First of all, the 3.5% surcharge on all card purchases (credit and debit) which I find ridiculous. Obviously not many people carry $200+ in cash so it is essentially a meal surcharge - increase your prices if this is necessary especially at a high price restaurant. Secondly, the time to service was very long - we ended up spending 2 hours here and did not order appetizers or dessert. It was busy but extremely slow. read more

Fantastic. We came in on vacation and ordered the Steak Frites, Orecchiette Pasta, and the burger. The orecchiette pasta was amazing!! The steak frites was a great cut of meat, and their fries are perfect. The burger is BIG, come with a friend, but it did not disappoint. Do NOT let its location (strip mall) drive you away, it is a fantastic find!! Dessert is where they really shined through . Their desserts are house made, yum. We ordered the french toast bread pudding, which was ok BUT THE BEST dessert EVER, deep fried cheesecake, was phenomenal!! Went for my sisters birthday. we were about 11 people. Ordered and waited for about a whole hour and a half for the food. They promised the kids food were going to come out first, but ended up being the last plates coming out. After we finished, the check took another half an hour to come out... we walked past a table whom got their food 20 minutes after ordering? Very disappointing. Many of my colleagues come here and tell me that I should try it. I did and would never go back. Waitress couldn't get things right. When ordered salad with prosciutto it arrived with prosciutto. When this was mentioned, she had a bad attitude. Also when asked to cook the $78 steak a little longer as it was raw and not rare, she rolled her eyes and shaking her head. So far in the Hudson valley, i have had great experiences with restaurants. Had lunch here earlier this week after an appointment in the area. Based on the great reviews, we chose this place for lunch, but were underwhelmed. The goat cheese wonton appetizer was fine, albeit maybe the wontons were a bit too browned, but overpriced at $7 for 6 wontons. Beer selection is ok, with a handful of beers on tap and a selection of standard bottled beers. I only drink sours and they had one on tap, which is a plus. For lunch, hubs had a burger, which was pretty good, and I had the smoked turkey sandwich. The sandwich was fine, not the best sandwich I've ever had, and it could have used more turkey or something else on top as it was literally just turkey and cheese with mayo. The sandwich and burger both came with fries. I guess I was a bit disappointed based on the reviews. The restaurant itself seems a bit confused as far as concept. It seems like it wants to be a nicer-dining gastro pub. It's not really a gastro pub, but isn't super-casual, either. Our waitress was very sweet but oddly dressed for both the time of day and frankly, location of this restaurant. Beers were $8-9/apiece, which is pretty standard, but there seemed to be more space than there should be in the top of the glasses for the pours, and the waitress also took one of my husband's glasses before it was totally empty. It wasn't a bad meal by any means, just nothing we couldn't have better for the same cost elsewhere. read more

I've been to this restaurant 3 times this week while visiting the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) in Hyde Park. I can't imagine a better place in the area that mixes outstanding food, a great atmosphere and smiling employees. The owner Tom, who is a CIA alum, has put together the winning formula for a wonderful dining experience! Kudos to his team. Jenna is a rock star behind the bar and the team of chefs all highly trained and in synch producing fantastic food!!My one regret: I'm leaving for home tomorrow (Indiana) and it's too long of a commute. Based on other, positive reviews, my wife and I decided to try lunch at Crew. Tucked away in small strip mall, we were surprised at the place's vibe, which is a upscale and trendy. I ordered a burger, and my wife the veggie burger, both were good and our lunch was served to us by a pleasant and attentive waitress. So why, you might ask, am I giving Crew a paltry three stars? It comes down to the overrepresented MAGA Republican signage and paraphernalia, plasterered throughout the restaurant. While I respect one's right to political choice and free expression, I just don't need it up in my face when I dine. Perhaps if you want to attend a Trump rally but don't have the time, this is the dining spot for you, but in the future I will eat my burgers elsewhere. read more

Went to this restaurant on the recommendation of my hotel. What a unexpected pleasure to eat here. My understanding is that it's run by graduates of the culinary school. I was served the evenings special salad first. At first look it just looked a a large square pile of greens, and the dressing was just "ok" when I tasted it. After I put it on the salad and started to eat it, I found that the salad actually had layers to it, with a myriad of many ingredients- and with the dressing and the items inside- wow, all blended together perfectly! One of the best I've ever eaten. I also had the mixed grill special- ribs, pulled pork, local sausage, coleslaw, and corn bread. Everything was perfectly cooked, ribs were very very meaty, the sausage was "ok" (a little dry)- but the pulled pork- amazing! Aside from that- reasonable prices for what you got, and very attentive excellent service! read more

I needed a quick but delicious snack while doing errands so of course I resorted to yelp and picked this place. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive. I ordered a white bean bacon soup which had great flavors and was perfect for the chilly weather. I also ordered the goat cheese wontons. Anything fried and cheesey is typically something I love and this is no exception. Great snack to fuel me up so I could continue my holiday errands. Crew really blew me away, I didn't really have any expectations for this place. We just happened to be staying at a Airbnb (little upstate get away from manhattan) and chose here as our restaurant night out. Upon arrival we were seated way in the back and were kinda forgotten about for a while but finally once we were able flag a waitress down and get things going we were blown away by each dish. We opted to start with oysters from massachusets, they were amazing. We then got the Burrata salad, goat cheese wontons and these little crispy salmon bites and split the duck dish with risotto instead of sautéed veggies as our main. Not a single dish disappointed, we aren't picky eaters but we are specific about what we consider perfect. For us to get through a meal without some kind of "this would have been better with" is very surprising. Even the bread and butter they give you was different and so good. 5 stars for the food all the way, we will be back. Drinks on the other hand were surprisingly mediocre compared to the culinary experience we had. I had their sangria which tasted mostly of soda water and my significant other ordered their smoked tequila mule, was a lot sweeter than normal for a tequila mule. read more

Five stars for food, one star for politics. We broke a long road trip with an overnight in Poughkeepsie, checked into our hotel late, took a look at Yelp to see what was close, and ran to Crew for a late dinner. What a lucky find in regards to food! We shared the local burrata salad (deliciously accented with triangles of perfectly toasted bread crisped with olive oil, a slick of red pepper purée, and a tangle of arugula and kalamata olives), the "sunflower" salad, topped with an incredible and unusual sunflower seed granola, the ahi tuna appetizer (perfectly rare, with a lovely accent of peewee potato salad) and finally, ended with the local meat and cheese platter, which was simply epic. The cheeses and charcuterie were perfection, and beautifully accented with a drizzle of local honey. We sat at the kitchen counter, and what we saw going out to other tables looked amazing as well, particularly the chicken pasta with a cream sauce, along with both steak entrees- if we'd been hungrier, the dry aged steak would absolutely been on our list. We also each had a creative and well balanced cocktail, and a couple of glasses of wine from their beautifully curated list- extremely long and very nicely thought out. We didn't have room for dessert, but they looked amazing, too. Sad to see their politics on prominent display, however. Unfortunately, we won't be back- anyone who advertises "Let's go Brandon" isn't someone we want to support. I don't share my political views with my clients, nor do they share theirs with me. Yelp family, you never let me down! Last night hubby and I were headed to a different restaurant but once we got there they were closed bc it was a Monday. A big oops on my part for not checking their hours. I did a quick search and up popped Crew (which I've had booked marked for a long time). We were seated right away at the table closest to the window. Started with a bottle of Diseno, Malbec (one of our favorite wines). This restaurant has a pretty large wine list so it took us a good minute to pick a bottle we wanted. After we places our order our waitress brought us a roll sliced into 4 pieces with this delicious sweet butter. For our appetizer we started with the Chicken Satay. It came with 3 pieces and Peanut Dipping Sauce (delicious). For our Entrees Hubby had the Salmon which he liked very much and I had the Black Angus Steak Frites. It was very good (a little over salted for my taste but overall the food was just so good I'm not deducting a point for that). For dessert we had the Winter Crisp which was a mixture of berries and figs topped with a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream - also very good. (Also 2 cups of coffee - the coffee was strong which I normally like but since I drank this at 9pm it kept me awake all night, I should have ordered decaf.) The restaurant itself is trendy and cozy with great service. Our waitress was always checking on us. In total our bill came to $106 - not bad considering we had a 3 course meal and a bottle of wine. read more

I'm willing to overlook that I feel some (but not all) of the food and drink here is a bit more than I would expect to pay, because this place is just so good overall. There's quality in the food, the service, the atmosphere - it's a total package and in that way you get your money's worth. The drinks are one area where I feel they're 10-20% more than I would expect, and it amazes me these days what can be labeled as a "martini." The cocktails are so good, but when the cost of 2 would be about as much as the cost of my meal, I think not. The menu has what I would call good upscale comfort food (well.... I'm not sure if duck is technically a comfort food, but yay duck!). And everything really hit the spot. I wanted to try some of the appetizers too, but unfortunately I knew I would not have enough room (besides, I wanted the "martini"). The tables are close together, but at least for us, I did not feel like the noise carried too much between tables. If that's a concern, I suppose you can try the smaller back room. read more

On average, I will exclaim "WHY IS THIS FOOD SO GOOD?!" about 5 times per meal whenever I eat at Crew. Everything is absurdly delicious... from the freshly baked bread and apple jelly-laced butter to the perfectly cooked NY strip steak and the yummy mascarpone ravioli. Oh my. I love that they have a rotating beer list and that it always includes local and seasonal microbrews . (It helps to have the best beer shop in the area right next door to your restaurant, I suppose). If only they'd invest in some heavy-duty drapes to obscure the craptastic view of the Dodge dealership across the street, Crew could easily steal the title as my favorite restaurant in Dutchess County. And that says a lot for a girl who avoids strip malls at all costs. Sometimes you can still find a diamond in the rough. read more
