The husband ordered a home style with cheese and made it a meal by adding fries & a drink for $5.49. He was a little taken back by how little fries they gave for the meal. My chicken wings came out super hot and fresh. They were crispy and juicy. But the medium for me was barely spice. However, I do have a pretty high level for spicy food. I did give my husband a wing and he didn't complain at all of the heat. I definitely would have went up a heat level but I did enjoy the flavor. The pickles were thick and crunchy and had the perfect tang. My husband let me have a bite of his sandwich and it was quite delicious. The bread was toasted and buttery. The battered chicken breast was crispy and juicy. So moist and tender to the bite but the crisp to the battered crust on it was perfectly done. Founded in 2018 in SoCal, Crimson Coward has 18 locations around the country, including this location (the only one in Washington state) in Redmond. It specializes in Halal chicken sandwiches and wings, prepared and served in the Nashville Hot Chicken style. Eating a combination of sandwiches and wings, our group of five found the chicken to be flavorful and juicy The attraction of really good Nashville hot chicken is the ability to increase the pure hotness level to an almost unbearable amount while still maintaining juiciness and craveability. Crimson does a nice job of that. It's a small shop, with some seating and an open kitchen. There are two lines to order: one via a kiosk and another in-person. Because it was so busy on a Friday night, the workers didn't bother manning the in-person line and pretty much forced everyone to use the one kiosk. Ordering and paying was straight forward. There are drink cups and glasses that you can take to fill up your own drink at the nearby soda fountain: definite a level of customer trust here. The food took over 20 minutes to be prepared; we took it to a nearby park with picnic tables to eat outside during the twilight hour, which definitely made it more enjoyable for all of us. The food was pretty good too. The Crimson ($12.79) - a really juicy sandwich, really well breaded and fried boneless piece of breast. Per advice, we got the mild version. Some of us could definitely have gone up one level to medium. It does come with pickles, a very generic cole slaw, all on a very good brioche bun. The newbies in our group were really impressed with it. Full coward ($25.00) - dozen, very large wings. Super crunchy. These were excellent wings, at a decent price. Clean and bright casual spot for good Nashville hot chicken. I got the crimson sandwich with median level hotness and it was a good level where it was more flavor than spice. I might try one level up for more kick next time, but the sandwich was still tasty. It's pretty salty, so I recommend drizzling some honey to round out the flavors. I had seen this place while driving by and knew I had to try it. I got there for a late lunch and the place wasn't very busy. I asked if I could get a smaller portion than their Half Coward, and I was told I could get a Quarter, which would be 3 wings with bread and pickles. I got my wings 'Hot'. Based on my initial visit, I don't think I'll be returning. Atmosphere: They were playing a podcast (instead of music) over the speakers wherein the hosts were talking about struggling with their mental health issues, followed by many ads for mental health drugs. This is not the type of atmosphere I want to relax and enjoy dinner in. Price/Value: $20 for a sandwich and fries (no drink). The fries were quite average perhaps comparable to the flavor of Red Robin. The mild chicken was OK, nothing special. The absolute best part were the buns which were toasted perfectly and had a nice butter flavor to them with great texture. Staff (Service): The staff were friendly, and my order took an average amount of time to complete. A screen takes your order and asks for tips although there is no service, including not delivering your meal to your table -- even McDonald's will do this, plus they don't ask for tips. Environment: It was clean, things looked new and fresh. Why a 2-star? I cannot find a compelling reason to return. The food is average at best, the price is over 2x what a different fast-food chain would charge (and more expensive than some sit-down restaurants). The atmosphere is kind of disturbing. First off, we have a new Chicken Sandwich King in town. Crisp, delicious. Fresh. My first outing, I was a bit afraid of the heat ratings even though I like spicy food. So here was my experiment. I first tried the medium. Nice flavor, but I didn't think it was all that hot. Second time, I tried hot. A little more spicy, but nothing I thought was extreme. The third time, I tried Burn, Baby Burn. I suspect I would have been OK, but on this day, my kids told me the medium was already super hot. So I guess expect some variance when choosing the spicy level. The burn baby burn, brought tears to my eyes. I also saw two senior citizens, one South Asian and the other likely Middle Eastern, dining solo and savoring their meals--definitely a heartwarming sight. What I Tried: Double Snash Burger: Two 4-ounce beef patties, sautéed onions, pickles, and American cheese on a brioche bun. Tenders: Served with bread, pickles, house sauce, and ranch (medium spice). Nice new place and the best spice on the Eastside! The place is clean, not much seating, but a super nice staff. Everyone was pleasant and attentive, with one person (manager?) even coming out to check if I was the one who ordered the BUUUURN and make sure I knew what I was getting into. They even remade the onion because it didn't come out crisp enough the first time (and I'm glad they did, so tired of soggy bloomin onions from outback, this one was perfect!) I was a little surprised at the chicken shape. The menu shows a thick juicy sandwich, but the ones we got seemed to be almost tenderized flat (pork tenderloin sandwich or 'chicken chop' style). It was still nicely juicy and flavorful but I hope this was just an off batch as I prefer a thicker sandwich. Flavor was on point though, from the toasted bread to the crisp pickles and flavorful slaw, to the chicken itself. The spicy BUUUURN was worth it, I crave that dry rub spice with real flavor that lights up your mouth and lips. The other employees didn't seem to have his hospitality. He was happy and of service which was nice to see. The other employees didn't seem to be as hard working. Being of service is what I like to witness and I would have given a 5 if I saw the other employees give the same type of service. When I needed a to go box, they walked away. One of the first things I noticed was restaurant and bathroom were both very clean. They have a kiosk you can order at but that was being used so one of the employees took my order at the register instead of making us wait for it to open up. We ordered 4 Tenders (hot), The Crimson (medium), a Double Snash Burger, and Fried Pickles to go. We only waited maybe 10 minutes until it was ready. We found a place nearby to eat outside and dug in. When I saw everything was delicious, I mean DELICIOUS. The burger was juicy, bun soft, and it had great flavor. The chicken was SO juicy and tender. The hot was pretty hot, the medium was perfect for my husband. The fried pickles don't look the best but they were great, as well as the regular pickles that came with the tenders and on the sandwiches. This was exactly what I needed after being so indecisive. I was craving some chicken wings so I got some but I didn't get like three wings for like five or six dollars something like that, but I did it on the kiosk that they had on the register very easy fast. The only one issue that was the chicken was still oily when it was served. They did not let it drain long enough before serving it. So because of that and that alone I give them the 4 stars. I am writing this from a food allergy standpoint, their in-store menu does not match their website menu so all my prep to pick a meal was a moot point once I got there. Their allergen menu has at least one mistake in it, they listed the mayonnaise as a dairy item in one dish and not another so one of those is wrong. The manager also thought Mayo was dairy. You order at a kiosk computer and then wait for your order- I think we stood there for at least half an hour. My husband liked his chicken just fine, my spicy slaw leaked all over my lap from inside the paper box it was served in. The chicken is inordinately juicy and does everything Nashville chicken is supposed to when made to order. It's not that spicy. If your home state borders LA on any side, you're ready for this. If you think Ezell's has any semblance of flavor instead of throwing it in the trash, this place will and should cook you.
