I've scan the aisles and shelves of Cris on many occasions and even though I've yet to buy one thing I do like what I see, I just haven't managed to find something I adore that suits me. Cris is unlike any other used clothing store in the City. The clothes are in excellent to pristine condition and organized by color, and clean! No funky odors here. Like with any other used clothing store, it can be hit or miss, but it's fun to browse even if you can't find anything. read more

I was there yesterday afternoon and recommend stopping in on a weekday at 3pm-ish to explore without the weekend crowd...it was a whole new Cris experience! I came here on the rainy evening of Black Friday to consign a few items (I myself thought it was weird that on a day when everyone was buying, I was selling). I was slightly delirious from the rain, carrying my high-end clothing in a purple Jansport I've had since the beginning of time, and using a pink umbrella that refused to close properly. Nevertheless, the lady in charge of receiving items was extremely sweet, telling me to stop apologizing ("You're doing fiiiine") and even complimenting my lipstick color. She accepted all of my items except for an All Saints dress ("You should bring it back in the summer; it's a beautiful dress") and left me alone for a bit to price my own items, saying that if they were too low or too high, she'd work out something better. Which was honestly very comforting, as I'd paid quite a lot for them but I've always strangely been uncomfortable with selling things too high. But I had faith that they were highly wearable, tasteful, and unique. Lo and behold, when she saw my prices, she said that for at least two of them, she was sure they could sell for higher, and she would do some research! I have yet to call back (in a month, as usual) for their progress, but I feel oddly certain that she will help me sell them at a mutually satisfactory price. I waved a frantic goodbye to everyone working in the store (either because they were all terribly sweet or because I like people too easily...or both) and charged back into the downpour. read more

I found a brand new, tags still attached, suggested retail price at over $2000 Dolce and Gabbana red lace stunner of a dress here, and I paid less than $100 for it. My friend bought a Versace mini-dress, brand new with tags, for $120. This was 2 summers ago and I haven't been since, but my friends that go frequently tell me that you can pick up some great (cheap) stuff there. All authentic and either in new or gently used condition. Some of the more pricey and/or hard-to-find haute couture houses like Chanel and Chloe are a bit over-priced (better prices on Ebay or on sale at Neimans), but like I said, sometimes you can find the most amazing deals ever here read more

I actually love how this store is set up. Very basic and simple. Although they do carry a lot of designer items, the men's section is basically non existent. Very tacky and not even good items. They seem to cater for a more older customer crowd. I didn't have a problem with the employees, they were actually very friendly to me. Someone even offered their card if I wanted to sell anything clothes I wanted to get rid of. Not really any complaints other then the weak men's selection. read more

they say the economic crises will end in a year - consequently, i'm screwed until mid-2010. that being said, the milly splurge at bergdorf's forces me to do high end at the consignment level. don't be a snob. used clothing is not above you...especially considering the quality and cleanliness of most of Cris' pieces. so a star for being walking distance from my new lower nob hill home. another star for smart layout (separating the uber high end from the still fabulous). third star for the sales associate who gave me a bigger markdown on a chloe blouse that had been in stock for awhile. and the last two stars for the louis vuitton coat, jimmy choo shoes, jil sander jackets, etc. (a bonus star for the oscar de la renta dress that gave me a bombass figure). read more

Very good selection of designer clothes for a reasonable price. I have found some cute pieces here that were in almost new state. I generally don't like consignment shops and used clothing but Cris has better stuff than anywhere else so the slightly higher prices are warranted. Or, take it to Cris, THE place to go if you're looking to drop $500 on a (gently) used purse, or hand-me-down Manolo's, or Yves Saint Laurent couture wear---or comparatively inexpensive designer denim. I am a seller here, having brought designer clothes here for several years on behalf of a friend. Cris, the owner, is a gem. She has great taste and knowledge of what sells to her customers, she prices things very fairly for the seller and buyer, and helps give input on the right price when you make your dropoff, and she has a successful store so things SELL. We have sold a lot through her store for years, and it has always been a completely smooth experience - well-documented sales records, prompt payment, etc. There are other consignment stores but they do not have the same high-end standards (and pricing to match) as Cris, so I always bring to Cris first. Very poor seller experience. On April 5th I brought in several Hermes scarves, a pair of Carlisle pants and two skirts from Celine ready to wear in Paris. When I walked in I was ignored and had to approach one of the women who had clearly seen me to tell her I wanted to sell clothes. Winnie combined a lack of graciousness with a total lack of knowledge about clothes. She looked at the scarves which anyone with even the vaguest acquaintance with Hermes would recognize and said "where are these from?". I told her and showed her the name and she said "Oh, yes. We take those". As for the skirts (which I had given to her neatly folded) I was surprised that after rejecting them (I sold them later on Ebay for $265 and $310 respectively) she dumped them into a pile on the window seat like you might see on a teenager's floor and handed them back to me that way. I called back on Saturday June 10th and spoke to Nicole who told me the first day I could come in and pick up my check was Thursday June 22 after 2 pm. When I came in Chris was chatting with one of her clients and desperately looking for her card to pay for her parking. She totally ignored me. So did the other woman behind the counter for about 10 minutes. Then she went under the window seat where a whole bunch of garbage bags with left-over clothes were stored and finally found mine. I got back a pair of pants and one Hermes scarf. They had sold two other Hermes scarves for $200 each so I got $100 for each of them. It took the salesgirl a while to write up the check and then another while to get Chris to sign it. I suggest you not waste your valuable time as a seller coming here. With the time you need to drive, park and wait for them to take care of you, it's not worth it. Much easier to sell on Ebay. As a final indignity the orange-reddish ink used to mark the client's name on the garbage bag came off all over my hands. read more

This consignment has a great selection of gently used (and even some new with tags) clothing. I don't find something every time I come in here, but I do enjoy looking around in here. They have a very large range of prices here. You'll find anything from JCrew and Banana Republic all the way to DVF, Brian Reyes, Louboutin and other top notch designers. They also have an incredible selection of jewelry which you'll have to check out. They wrap your purchases up in a cute brown blag with a (real) hydrangea attached to the front. This high-end designer consignment clothing shop is HIT OR MISS. There are definitely quality clothes, shoes, and handbags to be found here. The prices run the gamut and I still can't figure out their pricing system. Yes, you can easily find a shirt for $40, but you can also pay $800 for a used designer purse. Shoe sizes tend to run on the larger side--size 8++. The "lesser" quality bags are thrown in a bin which destroys the material and shape of the bags, which makes me feel sorry for the people trying to sell them! The times I have been here, there is never a crowd, which is a good thing since there are only 3 small dressing rooms. Also, parking is a BEAR in this area. Bring plenty of quarters. read more

I absolutely adore this wonderful gem. I found the most interesting goodies there. Yesterday, I bought a Karen Millen evening dress that I think is perfect for my event. Cris is so wonderful, classy and she made my shopping experience so fun. Ashley was very helpful and equally as fun. I love it when shopping is an experience and you come home with a beautiful piece. SELLERS BEWARE - Cris is a crook. A few weeks after dropping off a beautiful pair of black suede Christian Lacroix high heeled sandals I went back to the store to check if they had sold. I looked around the store and could not see them anywhere and got excited as I thought they had been sold! However, Cris told me they had not and was very flippant and rude when I asked her where my shoes were........her response was that they might be 'on hold' (which they weren't) - she immediately cut me off to talk to some guy who had just walked in. Subsequently I have not seen or been paid for my shoes. In fact I think Cris is running a great little business here and making lots of money in the process by scamming innocent sellers and pocketing their share of the sales - she can tell you anything she likes..... if I wanted to 'donate' my shoes I would have gone to a Goodwill store not to Cris so she can line her pockets. I'm very disappointed and upset and needless to say I will never return to this crook's business. read more

IDK why haven't checked out this store before, it's right across from the former Little Thai restaurant and i am a regular there. I would always pass by this consignment store and was also curious to what kind of goods they sell. I should have done my job a long time ago and yelped what CRIS was all about. Well this past weekend, i finally got to go. And let me tell you, i felt like i was in a Sanrio store just like when i was little! =) They offer a lot of designer bags,shoes, and clothes! Cris the owner was very helpful and kind. I scored a Prada Cinghale (wild bore skin) Kreme bag $195+tax= $213 NOT BAD! When i went on Prada's website to find a similar bag the retail was $1495, i was very pleased with the bag that i purchased. I also wanted this Fendi Baguette logo bag for $250, but with my medical bills to pay i had to say no for now =( maybe if it was $150-200 i would have considered it, so i thought the Fendi was a little too pricey considering that it was not leather. I will definitely go back this store! read more

Go sell your clothes here.....bags sell very well. If you kind of want to make some money off your clothes before donating, it's a good place to sell. I think they seem pretty honest about the sales and checks as well. I don't buy anything here b/c it's hard to sort through the racks sometimes. Also, as with all consignment stores, I'm not sure if they have a way to tell whether a bag is really authentic..... Cris herself has great taste though....alas, if I could stay as thin as she is and dress as well when I am her age..... read more

Cute little place for designer used clothing. There were many racks to look thru but if you have the patient and time. I think Cris is a hit and miss. You might find something cute but then you might not either. I did see a chanel purse by the cashier and many other luxury items. I didnt think the customer service was rude or anything but then again there was only 2 people working. read more

Best consignment boutique in San Francisco. Extraordinary deals and the best customer service in town. Last visit I scooped up a tags-still-on satin Gucci cocktail dress for $150 (originally $800). Sales associates also offer extra special attention when wrapping your purchases by attaching sprigs of leaves, jasmine and a seasonal flower to your shopping bag. There's no doubt that Cris carries high-quality consignment. Half the store is "department" store brands, while the other half is "designer." Even the department store offering is pretty high - end. I like the color coded organization, but generally, I find this store to be too rich for my blood and too limited in its selection. A nice upscale consignment store. Lots of luxury designer brand names. It's a good place to find a bargain if you are into this stuff. The place is bright and not stuffy. Salespeople are nice and helpful. If you go at a random time of day during the week, they may be stocking inventory and things may be a bit messy. read more

This is my favorite consignment store in San Francisco, even though I live within a block of two of Cris's competitors. The selection is well-edited and well laid out, so you're not digging through miles of racks (and outdated Ann Taylor suits) to find that a hidden gem. I've had great luck with cashmere sweaters here. And I'm hopeful that one of these days, they'll actually have a pair of Manolos in my size! read more
