I have been living in the hood for more than 3 years now, so how is it possible that I just discovered Cris? Actually, it's probably better that I didn't, because I could easily go broking buying all the fabulous designer duds here. I went with one of my best gal pals on a Sunday afternoon - it wasn't too crowded, which is good, because they only have 3 dressing rooms in the back. I walked out with a to-die-for Betsy Johnson halter dress, along with a like-new pair of Sevens. Total bill was less than $200. Not bad at all. My friend scored an amazing Marc Jacobs blouse for about $40, plus the cutest little dress that was on display in the window. If you want to walk out with the window display, it's not gonna happen. You will have to wait about a week to pick it up, FYI. All in all, Cris is a great spot to find some lovely and cheap (or cheaper) designer clothes. read more

I have never sold any thing here but I have purchased a few dresses. I have to admit its my go to place before heading down to the Westfield. I love that they have everything organized by color and the sales girls are always willing to give an opinion. Cris is also really sweet, too. She helped me decide which jacket to get when I was stuck. She has a great sense of style and a love for quality designs/fabrics. Stop in and you won't be disappointed. read more

Also, a pair of Marc Jacobs jeans wore thin in the back seat...I know, I know, it's supposed to be used, but given the price, you'd expect a longer wear. I don't poo-poo on gently-used accessories, shoes and clothing, especially when they are made by high-end designers and are a fraction of the cost. Cris is just the kind of store where you go home feeling happy that you "saved" so much money for buying a $80 Tse cashmere sweater or $150 Manolos. I recently left Cris with a vintage, Badgley Mishka evening bag and a beautiful Italian-designed gold mesh bracelet. I also came home with a silk Marc Jacobs top for only $65. I was proud of myself for having saved so much money. The only drawback really is that the clothes are mostly, or in my experience, in the size 6 range. So if you fall below or above that range, the selection is a bit sparse. read more

Cris is a Polk Street gem, and one of my favorite vintage stores in San Francisco. This is partially due to the fact that it is located in my neighborhood, but I have found some amazing pieces here! I love browsing through the clothing and shoes, yet usually go to see what jewerly they have in. Added bonus: they package your purchase up in a brown paper bag garnished with flowers. Fabulous store with fabulous brands! I stumbled into the Cris Consignment this weekend and fell in love with a leather jacket, but needed to think about it before just impulse buying. I was suppose to come in on Sunday to check it out again but my plans had changed so I called to tell them and they were very helpful. I'm revising my prior review due to the effort made by Cris, the store owner. She made the effort to correct a prior bad experience that I had with one of her associates and I appreciate it very much. This store definitely carries a lot of quality, high-end items and I have been a customer and consigner with them for a long time. Based on the selection and value, I am leaving 4-stars. It's definitely a good place to check out if you are into designer fashion. Cris is by far THE BEST CONSIGNMENT store in San Francisco!!!! I've been shopping here for 20+ years. It's my favorite place to shop in the city. Amazing selection of designer clothes. Cris the owner is the most lovely beautiful woman with brilliant style and an eye for luxury! I cannot get enough of this shop. I rarely write yelp reviews, and I know this happened a while ago. But I had to give the comment, hopefully will help others. I was a seller to the store, the experience wasn't too pleasant. I was pretty upset. Two of my items were a designer handbag and a designer coat, which both were retailed at $1300 to $1500, and both barely worn. For the handbag, after the manager (not sure if it's still the same women) looked at it, she said it's fake. But I know it's not. She kept asking if I had the receipt, and I didn't keep the receipt. She said, then it's fake! That's just so stupid! First of all, if you can't even identify a real product or a knockoff without a receipt, I think you should't even work in a designer consignment shop! Well at least should't be the person checking in the items from sellers! Secondly, I know it's real, because I bought it from a department store! Unless the department store sold fake bags!! That's so rude! Then about the coat, they found a coat on google from the same designer, but it's retailed at a cheaper price. So they contacted me to lower the price. Because my coat had the same fabrication of the one they found online. Is that for real?? Is that even a reason!!?? So I went back to the store and took my stuff back. It was suppose to make my life easier when I decide to have a consignment shop to sell my stuff, not harder!!! Then I tried other shops, non of them was like Cris!!! This shop is horrible when they take stuff from sellers! I had very bad experience, which makes me even hate to shop there! And I always suggest my friends don't shop there. FANTASTIC for buying :), buuuuut eh, for selling :( First, the good stuff concerning the buying. Huge selection of good quality used clothing. Cris is selective in what they take - the clothes have to be in excellent condition, trendy or classic, and for a wide range of women. The clothes are pressed before put on the hangers so that nothing reeks of cigarette smoke or other household smells (like the clothes at Crossroads or other used clothing stores) and so there are no wrinkles (allowing you to see the clothing as though it were new again). The prices are reasonable and are more or less expensive depending on the quality of the brand. You will find brands like Chanel, Jimmy Choo, Ella Moss, Marc Jacobs, Theory, etc. Also, there is a huge selection of stuff from jeans, sweaters, jackets, dresses, scarves, purses, and shoes. The store is organized by color also, so it's easy to find what you need. Next, the bad. This place is a consignment shop, so you can sell your used clothing. The deal is eh. So, say you have a jacket that you bought for $350. No matter the original price, the owner will come up with her own price for how much she wants to sell it for. So, she could sell that jacket for $150. Then, you keep 50% of the profit if it sells, and she keeps the other 50%. So, you would be left with $75 from your $350 jacket. Very so-so. My advice? Sell it on ebay. Plus, what the other reviews say is true about her donating clothing that sit there for a while. If your clothing sells, you will get no phone call telling you. You just have to keep checking in. If your clothing doesn't sell, you better get your butt in there fast before she gives it away. Point being, this is a great place to sell if you don't have the time/energy/motivation to sell on your own. However, if you have the time and energy, try selling elsewhere for better profit. read more

They have a lovely selection of designer clothes that are somewhat overpriced. I have enjoyed browsing there though. They also take in new or almost new clothes & shoes for consignment. word of caution though, Cris does have a 3?month policy of having your clothing on consignment and it is up to you to check with her to see if the clothing has sold to get your payment. If you don't, even if the item was sold, then you're out of luck and you won't even be able to get the item back even if it had not been sold. (i think it goes to goodwill). read more

I would like to respond to Cris's message in response to my review of Cris. I wanted to be constructive for other sellers and state important things but after reading cris's message in which 2 things weren't true I was disappointed. 1) It is so clear to us that the business model of this place isn't clear. More information needs to be communicated to customers. Ie) who knew a customer could get items back sooner than scheduled appointment. 2) I did get back to your store after you left a voicemail and I left voicemail and came in. 3) Yes we were grateful you gave the difference of the sale of the purse. It was very inconvenient being told purse was sold after one was told it hadn't been sold. 4) I think it's so important to have clear, consistent, convenient guidelines for your sellers. I HATE paying retail. I love this place. Don't get me wrong... I'm not replacing Barney's with Cris... but I am supplementing... browsing... looking always at this store. Got a great pair of Jimmy Choos and a wonderful cashmere sweater for a fraction of retail. Wonderful stuff. Also - very French customer service. They wrap your item in paper with a fresh flower. So elegant. Ask Cris if there is something in particular that you are seeking and she will keep an eye out for you. Also - if you need something to get altered... she has the best resources for that as well. When you go in there... take your time. Enjoy... don't bring someone with you unless they love fashion too. First off, DO NOT BELIEVE any of the reviews hinting/stating that Cris is less than an ABSOLUTELY HONEST business person. Both she and her husband, Jacob, are the epitome of graciousness and reliability. I have done business, both as a shopper and consignor, with Cris for eight years and swear by their business ethic. Also, Cris is one of the most stylish and creative dressers imaginable and always takes the time to help you with any fashion quandries. The store has some nice pieces but the pricing seemed completely off - a Marc Jacobs retailing for $300 was selling for $775. Banana republic items cost more than what you would pay at Banana republic. It's a consignment store that raises their prices above their value. read more

I've been to this shop several times, and let me tell you it should truly be avoided at all costs. Each time I've been greeted with the same offensively rude, mildly homophobic, self important manner by various staff members, most notably a shrewish older woman who clearly lacks any social graces or refinement. I moved from Los Angeles where I had two wonderful go-to shops. Cris is a lot pricier than my previous places. For example, a J Crew cashmere cardigan is $65 at Cris where it would be $25 or $35 in LA. Having said that, Cris does a wonderful job of curation. Many similar shops carry too much inventory and do not edit. Cris has a wonderful variety without being overwhelming. I am still searching for my go-to in the Bay Area! The coolest thing about his place has got to be the stunningly beautiful woman with fab grey hair who seems to run it (Cris?). She looks to be in her 50s, and every time I see her, she's rocking a wife beater, low slung belt, gorgeous jacket and lots of bling. So many hidden jems in this place, although they can take some time to find. Everything is sorted by color and in pretty good condition, so cuts down on the usual frustration with consignment shops. Minus one star because it can be a tad pricey. I'm a label whore as much as the next girl, but last season is last season. read more

My first impression of Cris was that they have very nice merchandise. But the prices are outrageous. You might as well buy new. Disregarding the high prices the customer service is horrible. I deliberately looked at a woman with short grey hair and we made eye contact but no interaction. I watched as she also made eye contact with my mother but no "welcome in" or anything, not even a smile. I may have spent money here but did not think it is deserved by this establishment. my frustration with shopping at consignment stores originates from seemingly endless scouring, mothball stink assaulting olfactory glands, dust coating your hands hanger-after-hanger, and coming up with a big ZERO. at cris, the air smells a touch of lavender, the clothes are professionally cleaned & pressed, and the pucci selection is larger than any i've seen outside eluxury.com. (a whopping five pieces, but have you ever seen more than one under $200 at a vintage store?!) oh and they had this gorgeous greyish black yves saint laurent blazer with these amazing gold fasteners. ahhh. but $600. used. honestly, for the lower-end brands (banana republic etc) you wont save that much, go for the big-uns. consignment structure is 50/50 upon sale. walk in during the week, appts on sat, sunday no buying. bring your sunday best or they wont take it! read more

i called on friday to make an appointment to sell my clothes for saturday but could only get a week later. i called again saturday morning and got an appointment that afternoon. maybe someone cancelled? i got there a few minutes late and they told me to wait by the window. i waited until she rung everyone in line up. i think i waited a good 30 minutes. the lady cris i think her name is has a french accent which makes you feel like youre not on polk st in sf down the street from walgreens. she didnt look very thoroughly through the clothes and took things with the nice labels. that were in season. all my marc jacobs. true religions. theorys. so when shes done telling you what she wants and doesnt want, you then write it all down and asking price which she recommends to be 25% of your buying price. after one month they discount the item 25%. after 2 months you pick it up. you get 50% ive actually sold here many times and have never had a problem. i browse but its hard for me to find something i like. im picky. i did but a pair of ray bans in excellent condition. read more

If there were more stars, I would give them. I live in NYC but was here for a few months and found Cris to be THE BEST consignment store I have ever shopped in and trust me I have seen more than my share. Mainly because Cris herself is very knowledgeable about so many things. The store is bright and airy. Sure, she could add more racks but then it would feel like a cramped bargain basement thrift store. The prices are great and she only carries top quality merchandise. I never have to worry about the authenticity of items as I have seen first hand how diligent she is about authenticating items. I've read all the negative comments and feel like they came from people who have not shopped or sold in consignment stores before. If you trust the people in the store you know they are lowering the prices because your item is not moving. Would you rather it just sit in your closet? And sure the racks could be less jammed but who does it help to keep things that might be perfect for you in the back? Yes, it takes patience to shop here. But if you take time and go through the racks you will find some great great deals. The staff is also so knowledgeable they can help find your size immediately. If you do not have patience, go to Saks and pay full price and leave Cris to those of us who love finding a treasure at a great price. read more

I am very disappointed with my experience as a seller. Unsold designer items came back to me damaged: brooch on a silk bag was scratched, (moth?) hole inside the sleeve hem of a winter coat and an unraveled belt of a wrap skirt. What a lovely experience as both a customer and a first-time consignor. I met Cris, Jasper, and two delightful saleswomen. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The selection in the store is amazing - some of the nicest previously owned designer fashions I've seen anywhere, and definitely the best in San Francisco. I used to go here 20 years ago when I lived in SF, and haven't been back since moving to the East Bay. Now that I've returned to the store again and experienced the great selection and customer service, I'll be making the trek over more regularly. Loved it!!! read more

Best Consignment Store by far, and this is speaking from a college student who goes to a lot of consignment stores to find herself affordable designer pieces. I love Cris! Cris, the owner, and all the stylists are amazingly helpful and kind. You can call them ahead of time, let them know what items are you are looking for (often times it's for dresses for special occasions-weddings) so that they can arrange or set aside some pieces for you try on when you visit for your appointment (you need to make an appt on weekends on for this). It's extremely efficient, especially if you don't have time to rummage through the gazillion hangers of clothes. The stylists knows what looks good on their customers and are very honest. When I came, I wasn't looking to purchase anything specific, just to kind of browse and maybe find a pair of size 7 manolo blahnik to fall in love with. Did I mention that they also have a wide selection of designer shoes that normally cut to at least 80% retail price. They are mostly vintage but regardless, remain true to their designer style. Problem is that they are spread all around the store so you have to look around on the floor for a nice pair. Cris has a large stock of designer pieces that can cater to a lot of people's style. There's a large choice of designers to chose from, ranging from international couture houses (i.e. Zac Posen, Nina Ricci, D&G, Giambattista Vali, Guiseppe Zanotte, Versace, Marc Jacobs, Dior, Prada, Fendi, CHANEL!! and some european designers I have not seen before etc...), more commercial high end designs (J Crew, Michael Kors MK, Cole Haan, Charles David, Emporio Armani, BCBGMaxazria). There also carry a wide selection of jeans. To name a few, I have seen seven for mankind, citizens of humanity, true religion, antik, rock&republic, joe's, paige, paper and denim. They also have some bags and wallets but I feel sad to see that most of them have been slewed in a bucket or hanging from something...causing bad creases/folds on the bags. :( From my experience, if you're looking for some specific piece--call in for appointment but if not, spend time looking through the racks of clothing. Prices usually range on the expensive side, depending on the designer, from $$$ to $$$$ (or more for haute couture!) I think depending on your personal style, you may or not see the appeal to Cris. I really like its classy, occasionally spontaneous/hot/rocker chick selection. Clothing look and wear like new, comfortable. I must have wanted to buy at least a quarter of the merchandise here if I could afford it. Came here without intention to purchase but left with a huge custom-decorated shopping bag of couture treasures (without burning a HUGE hole in my wallet)!! A shopaholic's paradise. this place has no idea about pricing, and in a bad way (unlike crossroads, where sometimes i'm convinced the pieces are fakes b/c they're so cheap). a zara blazer was marked $45 -- what's the retail, like $60? and a marc by marc jacobs swing top was $190 and it was definitely last season's ( i think i saw it in the store for $300). that's not much of a discount for something that's been worn before. but even more confounding are the shoes. manolo blanik suede spectators for $150! and a gorgeous pair of miu miu pumps for $128! both brand spankin' new. now *that's* a deal. is it b/c its consignment that the prices are all over the place? i will agree that the woman that runs the store is a sweetheart and it's more pleasant to shop in than some other second-hand stores. but for designer discount, i'm sticking with loehmann's, where the clothing is new *and* this season (mostly). read more

I just moved here from LA where I had 2 favorite consignment shops. I found Cris and it is my SF "happy place." My wardrobe had to change (from high heels to flats!) and coats and layers. I am happy to say that I have found a reversible Hermese jacket that is fun and functional and a MONCLER vest that also has become a staple. I also got a really great Vuitton bag. Although the prices are not cheap, the gently used clothes at the Polk Street (Russian Hill) boutique are gorgeous. I have purchased two evening gowns and many sweaters here, and have even bought my husband a few designer button-downs. The store is very clean, well organized (which is a rarity when it comes to conisgnment and vintage), and the staff is friendly. I couldn't believe my eyes....you'll find PRADAS, LVs, CHANEL, CHLOE, MARC JACOBS, and GUCCI at a consignment store!!!!!!!!! MY God....and they are REAL....just gently used. But I have to say, $990 for a used Chloe bag....I think I can get a comparable chloe bag for that price on sale at Nieman or Saks....same goes with the Marc Jacobs handbag for $450....Ummmm....Cris, don't you think you should LOWER the price alittle bit....I mean, much more.
