Decided to stop here while I was out in north shore. I was craving something cool so figured an acai bowl would do the trick. The parking is right next to the truck. It's located on kam highway. Sorry I can't remember where specifically. I ended up getting a pitaya bowl instead of an acai bowl. I had never tried and always saw pictures (hint: very much Instagram worthy) so figured why not? The bowls come with honey, bananas and granola and you can add on extras for an additional cost. I added strawberries but for about a dollar more it was a little pricey. The bowls in general are priced a little above average but I guess it's the price you pay for convenience since there's not too many other options in the area. The bowl itself was good and there was a good amount of toppings to pitaya. There aren't too many tables available and they were a little dirty being outdoors so you might want to take it to go. They also offer other foods but I didn't try and didn't pay too much attention. Someone else ordered and it looked good though! All in all I would consider coming back. THE MOST AUTHENTIC ACAI OUTSIDE OF BRASIL! I cannot stress how grateful I am to have found this spot. Being brazilian, is is quite disappointing to be surrounded by acai that is diluted with bananas, ice, and juice. Authentic Brazilian acai is ONLY acai, and trust me, its delicious. Not only that, this is the only place I've found outside of Brazil that offers the leite ninho topping, which is like powdered milk. What a find! They have food I'm not familiar with like coxinha and pastel, and boy, does it taste good! I thought the sizes would be small but, man! The pastel was as big as a tablet! I'm so sorry to say that I was very disappointed with Crispy Grindz Açaí Bowl. My husband and I ordered a Large to share. I believe the base price of the Large was $10.50. That only includes banana and granola. Any other toppings ie honey, strawberries, chia seeds cost extra! Prices range from 50 cents to one dollar per topping. I was not a fan of that. But maybe I'm spoiled. Maybe I'm too used to every other açaí bowl place including those basic toppings and not nickel and diming customers. ‍ sorry Then, after a short wait, we receive our bowl and sit down to eat. It almost looked promising. I saw a LOT of granola. The bowl seemed filled almost to the top of the rim of the bowl. But then I looked at the bananas. I took the first bite and it tasted good. But as we continued to scoop from the bowl we realized that there was another layer of granola under the açaí, a THICK layer. We loved the service and food here. It's a cute little truck food store with Brazil type food and culture. The staff was really nice and you could tell they loved what they do. Very down to earth atmosphere. I recommend the Acai bowl and also the coxinha chicken buns. The bowl was super fresh and tasty and you could add a variety of fruits to it. The coxinha was personally a favorite of ours. They are a yummy snack that's very tasty. It's lightly fried and doesn't feel greasy to taste. I like the breaded crunchy texture of the bun but also like that when you bite into it you can taste all the flavors from the seasoned shredded chicken to the cheese and bread. You can't go wrong for $5 You get a giant wonton filled with either ham & cheese, chicken, ground beef, cheese or vegetables. The hardest thing is finding this place. I craved this perfect acai bowl for a year, rolled right up today and it was everything I loved in 2015 all over again. Shady tables, easy vibe, local traffic and WHAT FLAVOR. Rafael uses acai he orders from Brazil, perfectly sweetened without being "sweet" and I love mine with blueberries and chia seeds added to the granola, honey and banana. My 1st time trying an Acaí bowl so it was the best one I have had for sure. Lol. Customer service.... We locked the keys in our rental car 8 minutes before a scheduled first time shark dive and the woman at the counter gave us her car and said have fun and waited for the locksmith to open up for us. I had to practically arm wrestle her to accept a tip when we got back. She mentioned Aloha spirit. What a great experience and a tasty healthy treat. We will definitely be back again. Came here after watching it on a travel vlog and was told it was the best acai bowl on the island. I made my last trip to Oahu an acai bowl tour! This was definitely delicious. My bf and I shared a small and added coconut shavings to it. It was refreshing and I liked how you can customize the toppings as you please. Although, I must say, this was not the best acai bowl on the island. That's just me though. We also ordered a beef and cheese pastel. I've never had one before, but think of a savory, crispy wonton with cheesy beef in the middle. It was so good. I actually enjoyed this more than the acai and would return solely for the pastel. Being a local, I hit up almost every acai bowl spot I drive by on the island. This was my first visit to this one because North Shore is usually too crowded for my taste and its hard to find parking so when you want to make a quick stop and get out of there quickly, its nearly impossible. Luckily there was one open spot as I drove by. Ambience: its meh, nothing special. Its a food truck with a few picnic tables so nothing extraordinary however, they are next to a seafood truck so the combined smells are certainly not desirable. As we waited for our food, we kept smelling a 'dirty diaper', or so we thought. I thought it was thrown in the trash can so we were going to take our acai bowls a little further away to eat but it didn't help. A local guy said it sewage waste being pumped out I understand it has to be done but I don't want to be sniffing it while eating. I ordered a large acai bowl and asked if I could substitute "extra granola for less acai". I was charged for the extra granola, which is okay but normally "substitute" means exchange without additional charge. Not a huge deal. I really don't like that their acai bowl ONLY comes with banana?? Maybe ive just gotten lucky and every spot I've been to thus far, includes several fruits and honey. Here, you have to add all of those additional toppings at $1 each. The strawberry upcharge alone consisted of just TWO strawberries, which is a little expensive, in my opinion. After I added a few toppings like strawberries, blueberries, honey and chia etc, it ended up being pretty darn expensive ($16!) =/ Not to mention, to make room for those extra toppings, they gave me less acai/granola so the bowl didnt overflow. The acai WAS delicious though, probably in the top 5 of my favorites. I was just disappointed at the way I was charged. I also ordered a banana pastel. I love banana. I'm not sure if it just wasnt my taste but it was super greasy. It soaked through the napkins and bag it was in. It also wasnt filled even half as full as it showed on the menu pictures. It was literally flat. It did have a nice crunch, I just think more filling and letting it sit on a rack to let the oil drip off might make it a little better. I wouldn't order it again either way but only because I didn't enjoy the flavor of cheese and banana together. Overall, the acai alone was VERY good. I did enjoy my bowl and my nieces that I shared with like it a lot too. It was their first time trying one. I wouldn't go out of my way just to go back but I would try it again if I'm in the mood and driving by. I would rate the acai a 5 star but my rating today is based on my overall visit. read more
