My better half and one of her best walking buddies tried this place a couple of weeks ago and they kept talking about the Chinese burgers.... time to try it again and have me try..... wow. Those burgers are AMAZING! The lamb one is tender, the pork one is juicy and the beef one has the most flavor. Also added the noodles, eggplant, hot pot and cucumbers.... the latter is a nice replacement for anything fries as it's a LOT healthier and still offers a nice crunch. Service was very fast and efficient, not too personal but hey it's Irvine and we're doing fast, efficient and see ya later. LOL. The place itself is clean, plenty of space and yes, that bug catcher next to the entrance is efficient and LOUD. No bugs inside the place. For the dishes, highly recommended. read more

I always say, you know a Chinese place is going to be good when you walk in and they have a little serving area with appetizers like sliced beef, pig ears and bean curd. I love Chinese cold appetizers so this was a huge plus for me. We've gotten a few things here but the standouts are definitely their rougamo's. We've gotten the lamb, beef and pork one. Texture wise, the rougamo's are definitely best eaten fresh but if you pop them in an air fryer for a few minutes they get crispy again. My personal favorite is the beef, mostly because I like that it has bell pepper in it. The cumin lamb is good, especially if you like that flavor profile, I'm not a fan of lamb because I don't like the gaminess. The braised pork is also good, highly recommend as well. They used to have a chicken and lettuce bowl where you could choose your sauce that was very good with the cumin sauce, but I think they took it off the menu. The Liang pi was good, especially with all the sauces they provide. I liked the texture of the noodles but I can see it being a turn off for some people. I wish they included more fried gluten though. We also got the fried noodles with beef, they were good but fairly standard, nothing that really stood out. I saw Crispy Rougamo show up on the hot and news so I decided to check it out for myself. I thought that this was more of a snack shop, but I was pleasantly surprised to see they also have entrees here too. When dining at the restaurant, you go to a table and scan the QR code. The QR code links you to that table, and you would be ordering for yourself. They'll know which table to bring the order out to. Interestinggggg. Minimal service type of place. I ordered a Crispy Rougamo with their signature pork ($5.99) and a Chicken Steak with Rice ($13.99). The rougamo came out pretty quickly but the rice took some time to prepare. The crispy pork rougamo had a nice light crispy pastry-like exterior with a fatty pork interior. Super fatty. The chicken rice came with pickled veggies and a tea egg, which is much welcomed. The chicken was crispy and really good while enjoyed fresh. It gets a bit oily the next day as a leftover. When you finish eating you go and pay at the counter. Despite minimal service I still gave them a good tip cause I was coming a bit close to their closing time. I think I might come back for the rougamos as a snack but getting their entree too is too much food for me, and it doesn't last well as a leftover. read more

I was just having a heck of a week and didn't want to go home after work, so I went here with the bf after he went to the card shop in the same shopping center. We ordered the lamb soup and the pork rougamo. Decent. Probably best dish was their popcorn chicken. Pretty damn authentic Taiwanese. Pitcher of water comes with no ice. Authentic. Not something I crave because im not Taiwanese but it was decent. With other options in the area I'd try something else next time I'm in the area. Great place for casual Chinese food and you can't miss out on their crispy rougamo, what other restaurants call Chinese hamburgers! I got the cumin lamb and braised pork rougamos, both of which were so tasty. The outside pastry was crispy and flaky and the meat inside was tender. I especially liked how juicy the lamb one was. At Crispy Rougamo, you can get rougamo (roujiamo) - also known as the Chinese burger - which is a flaky flatbread stuffed with either pork ($5.99), beef ($6.99) or lamb ($7.99). I was worried that I would be a little hungry with just one, so I added on a plain bun ($2.99) and then split the pork filing between the two. The pork is a little salty so it was good to have two of the flaky breads to offset the saltiness. It's a simple dish but tasty! I had ordered takeout online and got the liang pi, which came in a container sealed with plastic and chili oil, sauce and vinegar on the side. I've had better versions but at $6.99, I can't really complain. Also got a side of cold cucumbers ($4.99) for some veg. Their menu includes noodles, lamb soup, cold appetizers and a few entrees like Shandong spicy chicken, chitterlings (pork intestines) and stir-fried fatty sausage. Restaurant is very clean. Very disappointed with this visit. The lamb soup was like plain water--completely lacking flavor, which is very different from when I came a year ago. Food was pretty good, the crispy rougamo wasn't greasy. The pork was a bit salty to my taste, lamb was good. The liangpi (cold noodles) was good, had fresh cucumbers and bean sprouts. However, my low rating is really for the service. First, we asked for 3 bowls and the waitress basically ignored us until we asked another waitress. Secondly, after we finished our food and while waiting for our takeout order, the waitresses didn't even ask us, they took all our water away. Their attitude basically told us to leave. Seriously!?!??! How rude was that!?!?! We were going to have another sip of the water!!! Then one waitress told us to wait outside for our takeout order because there was a line waiting for dine in. Hello!??! We weren't ready to leave yet. We are the customers! Even you have folks waiting to be seated, that's your issue. You can't be rude like that!! Not to mention, only 2 people were waiting!! Located in the same shopping center as Dunkin Donuts where parking might be a challenge to find. Clean and bright interior and their specialty is the crispy rougamo with your choice of cumin lamb, beef, or pork. Highly recommend the lamb if you eat it because it's super flavorful. The outside is like a crispy green onion pancake. The congee was a pass for me since it had the texture of chunky oatmeal and not the porridge that I'm used to. I've gotten food from here a couple times. I've had all three rougamo (braised pork, black pepper beef, and cumin lamb) and enjoyed them all. I've had them delivered and they were still juicy and crispy, buns weren't soggy at all. I liked the mapo tofu I've also had, not much to comment on, standard but tasty! I also tried the shandang spicy chicken. It was incredibly tasty and fragrant, the whole room smelled like it the moment I opened the bowl (which was probably 3 times bigger than the mapo tofu container, very big!). My one issue, I'm used to more "whole" bone-in chicken like legs and thighs etc, but the chicken was butchered into bite-sized pieces with pretty much each piece having bone in it. I'm not used to searching through bite-sized chicken pieces for bone so it was a bit of a chore. I did it anyways because it tasted amazing! But I also would probably just order a much easier-to-eat rougamo next time I'm there. read more

The lamb soup included a side of fresh cilantro and spicy paste so you can add to taste - they did enhance the broth. The broth itself was soothing and made my soul happy. I have tried this place a few times and found their congee was well priced. The first few times it was a good size 16 oz of congee, this is a normal size. Now they have downsized and they give you an 8oz coffee cup of congee. Don't go to this place, they scam you and the server was extremely rude!!! read more

The flavors are delicious. We've been to this location twice. The food is on point. The soup has a good amount of meat and not too gamy. The soymilk is good worth ordering. The menu actually looks appetising with some lamb soup dishes, their famous Rougamo burger and some decent veggie options including cucumber salad, shredded potatoes and some tofu with noodles. I Ive been twice and tried all of the above. Food is incredibly salty so if you want to visit your cardiologist sooner, this is the place to go. Some service Faux Pas: I asked for a side plate and they gave me a to go tub I asked for a side plate again and a go to tub but they took away my food while I was actively eating it They refused to take my cash unless I was standing in the exact square foot they wanted me to stand in. We ate here on Saturday Nov 1. First, I have to say that the chinese hamburgers were excellent (had the lamb version). But it ended there. Everything about the beef noodle soup was chewy, from the meat to the noodles. Both the popcorn chicken and the noodle soup were incredibly salty. We also think it was msg-heavy, as we experienced msg sickness after getting home. Lastly, the service is poor. We wanted to pay our bill. First we tried using the web page they make you use on phone to order food. It said ask for a server to pay. No server would come around, so we went to register. Girl at register said go back to our seats and someone would come by to take payment. Waited another 10min for that and no one came over and the server circulating the room, mostly cleaning tables, would not acknowledge us. So we went back to register and insisted on paying there. I thought it would be extremely oily, salty, and spicy, but everything is great. Vegetables have crazy wok hei, $3.50 for a BOWL of warm soy milk, and delicious rougamo.
