The donuts here are really well made and the staff is nice. PRO-TIP: If you want to get their popular items like cronuts or the croissants filled with whipped cream and strawberries then you have to plan ahead. For the cronuts, you should call in the morning to see if any are available and set them aside and they will prepare them fresh when you arrive. For the croissants, I believe they need a day's notice or if you're lucky and someone else has requested them, they'll make extra. Those two go quick so you can't really expect any left if you're calling after 11am. The other donuts they have are really great quality, I prefer them over many of the donuts at Peterson's in Escondido. Peterson's will carry some bizarre but tasty creations but Crispy's has most of your classics like maple or chocolate bars, French crullers, sprinkle, sugar bar, etc. the only downside to this place would be that they close at 4pm so if you're not a morning person, then don't expect any delicious cronuts or croissants! read more

After researching places I can try the cronut, I finally found Crispy Donuts. The cronuts were amazing and not greasy like other places I've heard of. The customer service is also great. Even though the store is extremely small, the staff made sure to keep the line moving to minimize wait times while still being friendly and courteous. The glaze donuts were also delicious. I read that their cronuts go fast so I called ahead (9:30 am.) they had four left; the rest were chocolate. I got the cream filled with fresh strawberries and powder sugar. My parents got regular glazed donuts and loved them (my dad is the donut expert...I got my training from him!) The cronuts were amazing! Definitely a 'hole in the wall place/gem you find' sort of place. If you're not from around the area, the donut shop might be a little bit hard to find, especially navigating with trusty Google maps. So I recommend keeping an eye out for the shop, it's near 99 cent store and across from autozone. (I took 4 u turns to find this place). And let me tell you, worth the u-turns. I got two cronuts, one glazed filled with whip, the other non glazed with custard. The lady who rang me up, I'm guessing the owner, gave me a bag of fresh donut holes as well, so that was a big bonus. The taste is mudda-effin' amazing. I feel so bad posting such a bad review. I usually try to keep my posts positive and only share the really good places we visit. We had been looking the night before on Yelp for a delicious donuts. We found Crispy, with tons of good reviews and mouthwatering photos. We were all so excited to go there in the morning. As we drive there we actually passed 2 other donut stores, that had been recommended by sone locals. Stupid us. We did not listen, instead we drove the distance because we trusted Yelp. Biggest mistake ever. The place was dirty and dingy. The place looked like it had not been cleaned for quiet some time. The tables were filthy and yet we still stuck around to buy some. I'm kicking my self right now for wasting the money on these hard Crusty donuts. Even their milk was warm. I have definitely learned my lesson. Got a few donuts today while visiting my folks. They have cronuts. Went early and they only had the plain or glazed cronut, which was fine. I ate the glazed and it was off the hook! I guess 9 am on a workday is beyond late if you want to see these yummy looking cronuts that everyone posted. Took a trip to this place since I had the day off. Small place in a little strip mall. Just donuts in the display case since they ran out of cronuts. Donuts were alright. Dough is fluffy but didn't care for the glaze. 10 min after I ate a chocolate bar and a couple of donut holes, I felt like I just ate a 4 pcs of church's chicken. Maybe they use the same grease or donuts are just greasy. Dunno but I've eaten many many donuts and tried different donut places in the county and I've never had that feeling afterwards. Average donuts at best. Cake donuts were soft and perhaps pretty old (fresh cake donuts are a little crispy on the outside and soft in the inside). More cronuts, please! I'm a big fan of the donut shop with fancy donuts downtown, but that's such a haul since I live in San elijo so I decided to try crispy's! And I'm so glad I did. So what you do is pick your cronut- plain, glazed, and I believe chocolate was the other, then you can add FILLING! They have whip cream, chocolate whip cream, custard, and Nutella and you can of course add strawberries to any of these. I ordered plain cronuts and added custard and strawberries to one (so far my favorite), chocolate whip cream and strawberries in another, and finally Nutella. I was new to this process so I think I confused the poor lady since I didn't know what I was doing, so she ended up giving me plain whip cream instead of Nutella, but I'm pretty sure that was my fault. Don't be like me, don't confuse your cronut artist and lose your Nutella cronut. Regardless, I will be back and this time I won't confuse her and I WILL get my Nutella cronut read more
