Best tacos in town. Food and service is excellent. I would like to see them open for dinner.

After checking out an estate sale in Windcrest, my wife and I decided to get some breakfast tacos. I have never been to Windcrest before so I wasn't sure where the best taco spots were at. After doing a quick search of the area, this place came up as the highest rated spot in Windcrest. Luckily, it wasn't too far away either. We were greeted promptly right when we entered, and were told we can sit anywhere we wanted. The place appeared clean, was a decent size and it was about half full with other patrons. Our waitress soon arrived to take our drink orders and provide menus. Ultimately I decided to have a bean and cheese, and a chorizo and potato. Our order was brought out a few minutes later. They have green salsa in bottles on the table, but the waitress offered us red salsa as well. She brought out the red salsa but it was more like salsa ranchera. I rolled with the green salsa on both my tacos. I started off with the potato and chorizo. Personally, I didn't think it had much flavor, even after adding salsa. I enjoyed the bean and cheese more. The beans had good flavor and there was a fair amount of cheese. The tortillas were fantastic. Not sure when I will make it back since I live on the opposite side of town. But would visit again if I happened to visit Windcrest. read more

A colleague recommended Cristan's so I decided today was the day. This business doesn't stay open all day and breakfast items dominate the menu. I tried three tacos and their refried beans. Ordered: Chorizo and Egg Potato and Egg Picadillo Refried Beans This style of Mexican food reminds me of deep South Texas. The flavors are muted and the dishes are denser. Thick flour tortillas, beans full of manteca, and wet chorizo. It's all great. Beware. This business adds 3% when paying with a card. read more

Very disappointed to be leaving this review I've been dining here for years in the morning I would come with my brother and get a chorizo egg plate with potatoes for years it would always be $24 after tax I went with my girlfriend of color this past week and they overcharged her by a significant amount I've heard things about this place being racist and now I've seen it first hand the waitress Megan has amazing service and I don't think she did it on her own I think the owner made her charge us that amount I've always heard things like this about this place but have never seen it first hand until now read more

I've been on a breakfast taco tirade lately because I'm not happy with some of my faves, such as Cristan's. My family has been loyal to Cristan's for years but the quality isn't the same anymore. I get everything is more expensive these days but with the higher prices, I expect the same quality, not poorer quality with smaller portions at a higher price while I pay a convenience fee just for using my card. Cristan's has let me down too many times now and I'm frustrated about it. I'll leave them with a 3 because they still have good service, the food is good, and I know their potential. read more

Health score is awesome at 100, homemade tortillas. Great unsweetened ice tea. Bean & cheese nachos looked like a child put together, salsa for the chips & salsa was also made for a child's palate but the green sauce had a big kick at the opposite end of the spectrum! No charro beans, cheese enchiladas also had no flavor. Was really looking forward to trying this place since it came so highly recommended, but the consensus was that we probably won't venture over here again, when there are places so much closer to us that rate high on everything that this place failed on as well! I've been coming to this location since I was a little girl and before that my parents also ate here in their youth. I can confidently say they have been serving the same delicious food for over 30 years! They're my go to for breakfast tacos and they have some of the best carne guisada in town. Also their flour tortillas!!!! So soft, fluffy, and flavorful! As far as I can remember, they've always had the cute and welcoming pink and purple decor and it just feels like home every time I step in there. The staff is amazing as well, incredibly friendly, great communicators, and incredibly speedy service. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a taste of San Antonio. I'm from Orange County, CA and every time I visit family in San Antonio, I make it a point to come here. This is the best breakfast taco spot in all of Texas! My favorite tacos are the chorizo and egg, chilaquiles, and potato and egg. On weekends I like the pork barbacoa tacos. Sometimes I'll get a breakfast plate. My husband and I ordered the Lunch special Combination Plate. The plate was filled with great food and lots of food. The crispy taco and the bean chalupa were delicious as well as the best enchilada. I'm not gonna try to make the argument that they're the best in San Antonio, because there are a ton of mom and pop shops here that make fantastic food that you can tell is made with love. My family has been coming here every Sunday for years! The place never disappoints. The service is great although they are typically busy and they are super friendly. They keep the water and coffee full. The tacos are great. The tortillas are soft, fluffy, and hot. Got to love homemade tortillas. Can't go wrong with breakfast tacos. Prices are reasonable. Food has always been good. However, expect to pay over $40 with tip for the carne guisada plate and two drinks. That's way too expensive.

I've been coming here for over 20 years. I used to skip middle and walk down and grab breakfast tacos. Now at 35 and my first baby on the way I have a serious craving for Cristan's. Best cheese enchiladas! The flour tortillas are so yummy! Lately I've been getting a plate of cheese enchiladas without the beans and rice and a fajita with potato and cheese taco. The green hot sauce on the table is legit! During my pregnancy I've found myself eating here at least once a week and we live 20 mins away now. Maybe it's my childhood or maybe the food is just that darn good but I skip every other place on the way to Cristan's. The food here just hits the right spot! Family oriented restaurant with a large selection of Mexican food. The Chilaquiles are excellent and the carne guisada is also very good. I would have preferred a crispier shell for my gorditas, but they were very good and I highly recommend going to Cristan's for your food fix, especially at lunch. Zero stars!!!!! Roach infested place! My boyfriend lucky for him only had a coffee. I ordered two tacos and a side of rice ate one of my tacos, fine, started on my rice and as I mixed it I realized what I thought might be toasted rice was actually baby roaches!! Im not joking or exaggerating. we called our waiter who spoke to the manager who was chowing down on food who waved and said "give them a discount" To which I replied we aren't paying for anything and walked out..Completely disgusted and did report to the health department. read more

I had the huevos rancheros with potato & chorizo and it was fantastic. The coffee is so good and I had about 4 cups. The service is absolutely fantastic as well. The tortillas are a little thick and the beans were a little on the bland side. I would've given 5 stars if it weren't for that. But, I'm going to be a regular customer and I'm happy that I found a new breakfast place by my house. I highly recommend it to everyone. read more

So after dropping quite a few persons at this establishment(UBER Driving), I decided to visit today and judge for myself. Let me tell you that I was not disappointed. I ordered 2 Beef Fajita Tacos and they were very very good. Unlike other places that I have checked out, the meat was tender and flavorful, not tough and salty. So now that my test run has been satisfied and completed, I will definitely go back and try some of their other dishes. BTW, they are a 4.5 but that's not an option. read more
