I thought the diner might have changed hands. $4.95 for a small chocolate pudding and .50 extra for a squirt of cream. Never was offered coffee. Went for lunch and bought a Hawaiian turkey burger which includes the cole slaw. Didn't get the cole slaw. My friend order an omelette without toast, got the toast. The waiter ask if I wanted fries; I didn't hear him properly and said "oh it comes with fries?" He goes "no but it's extra" with a hasty tone. Order is taken, orders put in, order comes. Same waiter who took the order, same guy who brought the food. Doesn't even say excuse me for us to move our hands, just dumps it on the edge of the table. I ask for plastic fork and plastic knife, I can't get it. Why? It's the rule, only for take out. So you're telling me I can't eat my food with a plastic fork and knife because it's ONLY allowed specifically for take outs? BS! What's a tip? No tip! Definitely not going there again! First time going there after so many years and this time was reminded why my family and I stopped going. Foods delicious but Ridiculous service. Don't go there. Save your time and go to IHOP or 111 diner. Oh another thing, they take forever to come and take your order. I have one to the Crossbay Diner 4 years and found it to be an outstanding place. It has recently gone down hill. They clean the tables put the same cloth for each table and dip it in the same bucket of dirty water. The staff does not wear gloves most of the time. For a diner, this place is slamming. It was my second time being here since their renovation post hurricane and it's beautiful for a diner. Very open with a ton of natural light + views of the water if you're sitting in the right spot. You're always greeted upon arrival, which is something that seems to be a lost art. The moment you pull into the parking lot, you can smell the grill -- it makes me crave a burger each and every time I go here. I typically do get that burger but I've also had plenty of other options -- my favorites being the Greek chicken souvlaki platter and the chicken finger wrap. Also, if you want mozzarella sticks, WOW. They are absolutely massive and they are quite delicious. The last time I was here I even had dessert because my sweet tooth kicked in. I got my order mismatched but honestly it was fine because the staff was always on their feet running around. Nice light contemporary main stream music under a big white tent. The service was horrible. We got to this diner at about 7:00pm. While we were patiently waiting to at least get greeted, a couple was seated after us. Their orders were taken and brought to their table before our orders were taken. Once Maria finally came over to our table, she took our order. A while later, a party of four was seated, and their orders were taken almost immediately. Guess what? You guessed it! They got their food before we did. It took over an hour to get our food. This was easily one of the worst diner experiences I've had in recent memory. There was a table wait so two of us sat at the counter. When the waitress finally came, she took our breakfast order but was looking everywhere but at us. I commented that "something's gonna be wrong." 10 minutes later a guy sat next to us and ordered with a different waiter. Some 15 mins later, HIS food arrives (a turkey burger which takes longer to cook than eggs!) and ours was nowhere to be seen. Nor was our waitress. Finally our food arrives more than five minutes later anddddddd mine was wrong. Not only did she screw up my egg order but the kitchen didn't cook my corned beef hash fully and the hash browns were undercooked. Again, waitress disappears and doesn't surface again until it's time for the check. THAT's when she asked how everything was. I told her mine was awful and what was awful about it (I left half on the plate). She asked if I wanted anything instead. At that point I said "No - not from here." I am traveling from MASPETH QUEENS, to crossbar diner because I find crossbay as my go to Diner for the past 9 years ever since I worked for Russos On The bay. I arrived at 10:40am with my partner, sat down for breakfast and the server assigned to us right away gave us cold shoulder. We didn't take to mind his attitude, we placed our orders in, coconut shrimp, egg white swiss omelette and a simple 2 eggs style breakfast which all but the strimp fell under the brunch mean which ends at 11am, our orders were placed in by 10:54am according to my CHECK. Going back to me ordering, as We placed our orders we mentioned that on the menu states orange juice and coffee and or tea because the server forgot to bring it out. Then the server kept coming to our table every 2 mins after we had just placed the food, to apologize that the food will be right out, we seemed confused because again we had just ordered. 11:15 our food is then out all at once, we begin to eat. We are very much satisfied with our meal and experience and just as I know it the server comes around with the check book MID CONVERSATION AS IM PLACING FRIES INSIDE MY MOUTH. Tell's us here have a great day, then I look at my partner confused, neither of us asked for the check, neither of us even finished chewy our food, plates are full not even stacked and it's only 11:25. We never asked for the check, we weren't done, never got our coffee, we were going to get a dessert like we always do after the meal, clearly this was a new server but extremely unprofessional. I even got more surprise when he then came back around at 11:30am and grab the plates off my table as i was still confused about the check. I then got up and comforted him about the scenario and how disrespectful that was and how he didn't even ask if everything was ok just right away check, never have i felt rush nor disrespectful. The server then laughs in my face and follows up telling me " Oh i'd sorry i didn't know you were still eating, would you like another plate" No i wouldn't i respond, then followed with paying the tab and leaving. Absolutely no flavor, I told the waitress not her fault she was good, then the people next to me had the same thing and I noticed they only took one bite and stopped eating after one bite. I asked them if they liked their food in front of the waitress and pretty much said the same thing. I'm not writing this review to hurt the business but so the owners can fix the problem. I eat here often. One complaint. They stopped putting onion rings on the burger deluxe platters. I miss those onion rings. The management felt that since some people didn't want the onion rings that they were going to waste and it cost the restaurant money. This place is way overpriced for diner food, spend your money somewhere else. In addition, they charge a 3.25% surcharge when you pay with a credit card which is illegal in the state of New York. Refuse to pay the surcharge or just don't patronize this establishment. Just another example of greedy owners trying to deceive their customers, to put more money in their own pockets. The first time I came here, it was for breakfast so I only had a cup of tea. The second time around, I had a house salad and a baked potato. It was nothing extraordinary but it definitely hits the spot. The staff was friendly. There are plenty of options as all diners should have but I feel this place has a tiny bit less options than the usual diners I've come across. people here are VERY rude. Food is okay, pricey diner typical stereotype food. My younger sister had cancer, Leukemia, when we came here once and she didn't have any hair. Our Russian waitress came over and asked what the little boy would want. My sister was wearing a pink shirt and has feminine features, just had extremely short almost gone hair because of the cancer. My mom was ticked and my sister was crying. Just very disgusting and like a scene from a movie, the worst part is the woman didn't even apologize. Disgusted me. Even all the other times, they're very rude and stereotype the customers and won't give you good service unless you're a regular. Went there this morning 5/20/23 was seated, waited for the waiter noticed silverware was spoty dirty in my opinion so we asked the. Server for plastic cutlery he said sorry we dont have that. Weird huh! Well we asked for hot water so we can clean ourselves some practice used for years by people who feel the need to make sure there silver ware is cleaned to their liking. Well no he said we cant bring you hot water again huh what?. I asked if they bring hot coffee or hot tea he said of course so then why cant you bring hot water he said, we dont! Wow hello what's going on here if i want to drink my own tea lets say why cant i get hot water can i ok can i speak to your manager?
