This place is convient, nothing easier for the local night owls then a 24/7 diner, especially after a night of drinking. My major concern though is the price. Ive eaten here with my girlfriend and been handed a 35 dollar bill for -grilled cheese & fries, -BLT & Fries -2 blk cups coffee. Ive been to other similar diners, while footing the bill for 3 people, received bills for 23$. Another problem i have with this diner is that they put sliced tomato and lettuce on every plate of fries as fluff, but why would i want my BLT with more Lettuce and more tomato on the side! For a hamburger, i get it, but jeez man, just give me extra space in fries. In my opinion, It is better quality then Esquire Diner further down Cross Bay blvd, so if its 3AM and you only have to pay for your own food, or your still to drunk to worry about the bill, go for it. read more

My family and I go here every other week for dinner and I stop by for breakfast every so often. The food is great and the manager and staff are awesome. If you had a bad experience in the recent months it may be due to short staffing. The waiters are doing the best they can to handle the full capacity at less than half of the staff. Well Michael you need to train your staff as we were charged 14.00 for 4 sodas. Plus that's no 16 ounce glass, maybe 12 if you want to push it. Waiter never offered refills or said anything. so they say they have greek food. don't believe that as they do not serve pork souvlaki. any way. we ordered our food. service a bit slow and the food ok. nothing amazing. When we got bill we were in shock to see that they charge $3.50 for a glass of soda, That is highway robbery. Never seen the cost of a glass of soda over $2.50 It costs diners anywhere from 5 cents to 20 cents for a glass. And they have the audacity to charge so much? I will never go there again. and to add more insult the glasses (they were plastic by the way) were tiny, maybe 8 ounces and lets not forget the ton of ice they put in the glass. I occasionally go here for the great food and horrible prices. When you think of a diner you think affordable food, not the case here. A grilled chicken salad with avocado will set you back $18.50..... that's right $18.50 for a salad. If this place was more reasonable priced (considering the demographic of the area) I'd go much more often. Crossbay Blvd. has a lot of good choices for a salad and all have more reasonable prices than the Crossbay Diner. read more

The food here is pretty great. You can expect to not get lead down here, the staff is friendly and the place doesn't make you feel cramp at all. spending 35 for two was not bad at all, counting that I did get a beer. I got the mozzarella sticks which were freaking huge, its super delicious but I can't really talk the same about the sause that came with it, it was bland. But the burger that I got next picked up the experience , the Turkey burger with pepper jack cheese was also huge and full of love. The chefs here sure know how to make it right! read more

I took my wife the other night for a late night date and thought it would be a great little place to enjoy a late night dinner after we both had such a long day at work. She couldn't even finish her meal. It was terrible. Our fries were cold like they had been sitting there for an hour, bacon wasn't cooked properly. My sandwich was not well done, her meal was so greasy she didn't have any napkins left after she tries to unwrap it. I ordered an avocado panini and she ordered a bacon cheeseburger wrap, which wasn't on the menu but the waitress was willing to do. So disappointed. Unlike many other visits, this did not make for a good evening. Erratic and inattentive service, wrong orders, overcooked food, and a rancid dessert. It was even more unfortunate because we were with friends who had not been there before. We suggested Cross Bay because we had always had good experiences. Wish I could give zero stars. Paid $40 for two omelettes that were made with only one egg and fake cheese. Quality is definitely not what it used to be. Don't over charge loyal customers because you're hurting from the pandemic. Used to go here very weekend or order in at least once a week. Tried this place late night and it was decent. Clean and newly renovated. Hostess was attentive & we were quickly seated. Waiter took forever to come over in the beginning & when he finally did, his attitude kinda sucked and his service was very slow. I had pancakes, eggs & bacon - they pancakes were tasty! Sucked that didn't have real syrup, just the little packages that you usually get with takeout. My friend ordered "big French toast" which was on a large crunchy bread with sesame seeds (WHO DOES THAT?!) Pricing is a hit or miss. Some things are cheap, others, not so much. $6 for a TINY cup of juice is a bit much Very unpleasant group of people walked and were very loud and obnoxious, and loud drinks typically don't bother me, but they were visually annoying Everyone. The Reuben which I tried was also pretty damn good. The reason it's only four stars was because the service was absolutely atrocious- really bad. Have recently been back to this diner a few times the last 2-3 years since leaving the area when I was younger. Nice clean atmosphere with good food. Not a lot of food for the price. Paid $26.50 for a vegetable omelette/hash browns/toast & short stack of blueberry pancakes plus coffee. Blueberries were on top of the pancakes instead of being cooked inside of pancakes. Waitress told me to "just mash them up, it's the same thing". I don't like to send food back to the kitchen so I left it alone. The 2 busboys were great with constant coffee refills. I like coming here but the hostess definitely needs to be more aware. Walked in at 11:20 AM & placed at a very small table but acceptable. She immediately seated a party of 6 ladies right next to me while half the place was still empty. Was a bit LOUD & too CLOSE for comfort. Not a big deal but you sometimes ask, why? Waited 15-20 minutes to get the check. I'm sure there are plenty of very good reviews and perhaps next time it will be better but this visit was not that great. There were a booth available and the blonde hair lady that was seating people didn't want to seat us in the booth eventhough I requested a booth and I have a infant in a car seat. She said that booth is for 6 seater. When I see 4 people in a booth behind the empty booth. I spoke to the gentlemen in the front as well he said the same thing the blonde lady told us. After 20 minutes after we sat down. I looked at the supposedly empty booth for 6 people they seat 2 people in that booth. They are full of lies. What kind of service is this. We had a five course meal that was an early bird special. It was amazingly delicious. The food was fresh and the portions were substantial. The waiter was easy on the eyes, extremely pleasant, and easy to talk to. He was also attentive and provided excellent service. I would definitely come back. read more

Yesterday it was awful burnt fries , bland flavorless soup ordered a deluxe for 4.50 extra only got fries didn't get pickles cole slaw everyone at the table said no more crossbay diner and now unfortunately I can't give them any more chances I am done ! As for the service it's terrible with the one exception of a waitress we loved she was always great the rest of the staff suck ! Unfriendly slow inattentive and seem to have an attitude . I came here for lunch and got take out. I ordered an eggplant parmesan, I requested no bread and no soup. My total came out to $21.72 which is a ridiculous amount considering that it's just typical generic diner quality food. At home when I opened my plate, to my heart discontent there were three pieces of overcooked eggplant, and 2 of the pieces where charcoaled black in many places. The linguini was exquisitely dried with no tomato sauce. So they burned my eggplant, provided no sauce to my pasta, and covered that crime up with a glob of mozzarella cheese on top, and to add insult to injury charge me over 20 dollars for it, during lunchtime. We order from here at least once or twice a week, but it's getting to the point that we're going to stop altogether because the service here has gotten so terrible. Every time we call for delivery, the guys tells us it's going to be AT LEAST an hour. If you have so many orders going out that you're backed up for over an hour, you need to hire a few more delivery guys. James is the only delivery guy who gets it to us quickly, all the other guys show up looking like they're stoned and never have change on them. The last time we ordered, it took almost an hour and a half to get to us (we live about half a mile away), and when we opened up the bags, they sent the wrong soup, forgot to send onion rings with our burgers, and forgot the lemon wedges with the veal. This place has gotten really expensive, and when you pay that kind of money for food, you expect it to at least be hot and what you ordered, and more often than not lately, it's neither. read more

The Ruben Sandwich was about 60% sauerkraut. Piled high in the middle, but tapering off to a few millimeters on the sides. Not New York worthy. The hot dog was ok, but hey... The fries were old and cold. And the dessert (included in a kids menu) was a cookie or ugly pudding. When I asked to buy up to some pie, I was denied, rather rudely at that. Highly overpriced! I'm not sure how they stay in business! For a tiny glass of milk, and tomato juice, the size of a crayon; $2.00 EACH. My grandson had crayons, which I stood next to the two glasses, and the crayon was taller than the amount of liquid. There is roughly 16 cups in a gallon of milk. If this glass totals 8 oz, which I'm not even sure it was that much, the cost of a gallon would be $32! Crossbay diner has changed. It used to be very good. Now, it's not the best. The people's I was with burgers were very rare and pink when we asked for medium well. They took a long time to give us our meals. We weren't given an apology by any manger when he knew about the problem. The only thing good is the breakfast. Alright Crossbay I'll give you an updated review. The place is so different the homemade mozzarella sticks are pretty tasty. Wish the Greek salad dressing was more of a Greek salad dressing the raspberry in it doesn't taste so great and the size would be perfect if there was enough feta cheese to salad ratio. The French onion soup was a little off and usually they're my go to for it. The quesadilla was actually pretty good. All and all I would give it another shot, maybe 5 stars next time? read more
