Came for trivia night and was a bit disappointed by the whole thing event/set up! We were in the back room and unfortunately our team's table was behind a wall so we couldn't see the host AND the wall blocked some of the sound so only half of the table could actually fully understand him. It seemed like they were super understaffed for the event and it took over an hour from when some of the table ordered and when food finally arrived. I could tell that the few staff working was very stressed and they were trying their best, so definitely more of a management problem! The food was serviceable but at least it was cheap! I had the Asian salad and thought the toppings were nice, but overall a bit bland. I would definitely like to try the cafe again when it's not during trivia night and eat off the regular menu! read more

A friend and I needed to grab lunch in this general area on a Sunday, so I checked the reviews and open-hours of various restaurants. The 3 finalists were a place we'd been before, a sandwich place which may or may not even have dine in, and this place. We opted for this one. It is part of the clubhouse for a golf course, but it is open for dining to the public. It is located between DeFoors and Peachtree Battle of a connecting road. You enter the golf course / community and the restaurant is the first left. They appeared to have ample parking there. We were seated promptly. They were about half full when we got there and filled up a bit more before we left. I don't think there was a wait at the end, though. The diners seemed to be about half club members (small groups of up to 3 generations having a Sunday meal here) and about half just other miscellaneous guests. The décor was subdued, with a lot of paintings on the wall that appeared to be for sale. They didn't opt for an over-hyped golf theme. Overall, it just seemed to be a relatively nice-but-casual non-chain restaurant. The menu seemed fairly standard. They at least had salads and a selection of sandwiches and burgers. My friend got a chicken tender plate with 2 sides. I opted for their BLT with one side. For whatever reason, they were not able to serve their non-fried sides when we were there. However, I didn't care as they *were* able to serve fried okra! I appreciated that they didn't do anything wacky to the BLT to jazz it up. It was just a straight-up bread-and-BLT ingredients version. The okra was good too. I'm giving this place a 5 because it did everything it set out to do well, and it didn't do anything wrong along the way. read more

Wow, We ate here for the first time. I can't believe we missed this gem all these years. It's less than 9 miles from our house on a 18 hole Par 3 golf course. I had the Chopped steak (10oz) which came with two sides and my wife had the Burger which is 8 oz and came with a side. We just drink water. Our total was 30.00 including tax. A throw back to 1985... it's menu keeps it 4 stars because the decor is dated bit it's fine - it doesn't try to keep up appearances. The nachos are massive. The potato skins are 4 to a serving and a bit " dry " on the skins which is fine but I like mine " juicy ". Spaghetti and meatballs are consistently good. I mean, it's a cafe - it's great for a quick drink and a bite to eat or a snack. And it's convenient to meet friends that live in cross creek. read more

Can't believe this place exists in Atlanta. Food is super affordable and delicious. Lobster night kicks ass and service is pretty solid. You get to eat on a golf course in Buckhead with sub $20 entrees and chicken fingers that are dangerously close to the old Houston's fingers. All in all a 10/10 for the area, value, and quality. read more

Love this place. It's so real and such a throwback to the past. I've only been once but plan to return. No frills or cool atmosphere- just good plain food and great staff. I had a BLT with sweet potato fries and my husband had a tuna salad (with hard boiled eggs mixed in!) and coleslaw. Everything was super fresh and delish. The menu, posted on line, offers a wide variety of foods, although the management has never heard of vegetarians. Go on Sunday for the brunch and enjoy the Eggs Benedict. At lunch, try the Reuben! Most of the staff have been working at the cafe for years and know most of the dining patrons by name. They may even provide a little bread from the kitchen for kids to take out to the golf course and feed the numerous geese and ducks who frequent the large pond. For a little late night action, step into the bar which is housed in the corner with its own entrance. Loud and often crowded, this place definitely fits the bill as a local "watering hole". You will never be short of happenings in this place. Hello Yelp. As a resident here at Cross Creek and an employee I am obviously biased, but still may be able to help some other fellow lover of food choose a location for dinner. Cross Creek is by no means a hip, new, or modern restaurant. Cross creek serves southern style casual meals in a causal dining area. The owner is in her 70's so the only music playing in the actual dining room in oldies hits. The owner is always at the cafe working so you will most likely see her if you are going in for lunch or dinner, she's very involved, her name is Sharon. We serve meals such as burgers, catfish, meatloaf, pot roast, salmon, trout, etc being the main courses and southern style sides such as collards, turnips, sweet potato, creamed corn, squash casserole, green beans, etc I'm sure you can get the theme here. Everything is homemade by chefs that have worked at the cafe for many years, unless you come on an off night and one of the new chefs is working, regardless all the food is fresh and homemade. They have a different special and soup of the day everyday. The daytime chef Evelyn makes a different homemade soup everything, and they are always delicious. The creek is not fancy or modern, it's tucked away in Buckhead at Cross Creek next to the condos, golf course, and pools. They have regulars that come eat sometimes more than 3 or 4 times a week. There is a huge crowd of regulars than frequent the bar and dining area. The bar is quite a different vibe than the dining area obviously. They have a band every Friday night. It's all very old school, which many people love, but judging from some other reviews others would like a more modern and fancy trendy spot to dine. Cross creek isn't it, but many people do rave about the burgers, catfish, onion rings, and homemade sides and soups, and many book party's, events, gatherings, meetings, etc in the back. The back rooms are booked several nights a week for different gatherings. Sharon is old school but it is her restaurant and that's the way she runs it, it seems that many people like her way of doing things, so much so that she's been open for 22 years. I grew up about a mile from Cross Creek and remember going to a teacher/coach's condo there for a cross-country gathering one year. Since we were 16 at the time, we didn't sample any of the "club house" festivities that I got to sample yesterday! D's best friend's dad got (re-) married at Cross Creek Cafe and we were invited to their very simple, casual and fun affair. The wedding was at three o'clock, so I thought I dressed accordingly (he told me "casual," without much other detail) and was a little surprised when he showed up in jeans and a nice dress shirt. This is a note for boys: be more specific with your dates about things like this - ie, if the best man tells you it's casual enough to wear jeans, tell HER that and she'll dress comparably. With a small flutter of "oh crap, now what to wear" angst, I threw on a simple black dress (it brought me luck meeting his parents, so...) and off we went. As others have noted, this place is casual, even a bit dated. It's been around forever. The wedding/reception was in the two far rooms past the dining room and all the staff was very nice and accommodating. Plenty of tables set up for the 50 or so guests, and a substantial open bar service. The food spread was your basic "country club" kind of food - little sandwiches, chicken fingers, veggies and dip, and the like. One highlight of the evening was the elderly "Regular" in a snappy red jacket who kept helping himself to the eats. He just wandered in nonchalantly every so often to grab a plate, and kinda just melded in with the group. Cross Creek is a hidden treasure: laid back, comfortable and dependable. We don't live there, but we've been going for 15 years, sitting on the deck, enjoying a great burger and a stiff cocktail, and watching the sun go down. The staff is friendly and a recent face-lift has brightened the space. Came here with a large party (12 souls) for lunch and although the rest of the place was close to empty, the food seemed a little slow getting out to us. That's the only negative. The food was superb! Meat and three kind of cooking, I had meatloaf with (real) mashed potatoes, fried okra, squash casserole, collards and cornbread. Not as good as the for-now-burned-out OK Cafe, but pretty darn good. Hearty portions. We were indoors on account of the heat, but with the right weather the deck would have been a treat. Being set back from the road also makes it special. Very southern, a slower pace, so bear that in mind and savor the flavor. read more

This place is amazing. The staff is friendly for the most part (don't eat at the bar) and very helpful. Food is homemade and always hot. It's a little expensive but totally worth it. They have an amazing brunch on the weekends and it gets packed. I usually get the chicken tenders and they are the best in town. We live at Cross Creek and every once in awhile we'll need a burger fix and head on down. The cafe is, as mentioned many times, out-dated. The decor is straight up 70s . I have only had burgers and drinks so my opinion is limited. The burgers are fantastic, cooked properly to order and with all the fixings. The onion rings are fantastic...I could just eat a plate of those and be happy. Now the drinks...good gracious they are enough to take down a water buffalo! The bartender (always have had the same one) pours a very stiff cocktail but not so much so that they are unenjoyable. This is convenient if you live there and can walk up the hill to get home, probably dangerous if you have to drive (especially with the police officer that sits at the end of Bohler waiting for people to blow the stop sign). read more

I love this place because it's about 15 steps from my townhouse. The food is actually good -great burgers and fried green tomatoes! I wish they could find something other than plastic chairs on patio Bc it is a really cool patio overlooking golf course and lake. Also, there are these weird black/wht pictures when you walk in and they would be well served to put a little sundries store (think airport kiosk) in that nook. They could make a small fortune. I feel like I have to explain that it's 70's clubhouse when I take people there and it doesn't have to be that way. The did some upgrades but they don't flow. The owner really needs to let the people do their job and she be the owner and stay out of the serving. It's not good at all. Overall, it's convenient and good but it could be a really, really cool neighborhood restaurant and bar (think Treehouse) Bc it's in prime location with captive audience/neighborhoods surrounding. read more

Cross Creek is an odd little spot, located in a complex including condos and small golf course dating back to around 1970. It has a homey, cozy feel with a really nice view of the golf course and pond from the patio. The considerable variety of food has never really impressed me or my family, but my mother always wants to eat there because of location, plus her second choice is Picadilly, which I avoid at all cost. Definitely a neighborhood joint with an older clientele, Cross Creek neither impresses nor disappoints. It's sustained by local regulars, and staffed by nice people. I am giving it three stars because of the, "Um...what?" factor. This bar is Kitsch all the way, complete with one-man band. I had a perfectly edible turkey burger and a very nice, stiff cocktail. I live in cross creek so maybe I am biased but the food really is good. The prices are great and the servers are also very nice. I've ordered the salads and every time the ingredients were fresh and prepared perfectly. My husband gets the BLT and the burger a lot. We have also had the chicken tenders which are always hot and crispy. Yesterday I ordered the salmon special. I honestly could eat there every day. They are closed Monday which is kind of a bummer. I visited this cafe for the first time last week, and I was impressed with the quality of the food, as well as the speed of service during lunch. The restaurant was about half full when I arrived but it was also in the middle of the week. When I ordered chicken tenders and French fries, I expected frozen chicken tenders from a bag. However, the tenders were all white meat and they appeared to be hand battered and fried so they tasted much better than I anticipated. The view is nice, and I gave this review 4 out of 5 stars only because the cafe seems a little dated and needs to be updated inside and out. Other than that, it's a nice place to go without having to fight traffic in Buckhead. read more

Are you ever looking for a casual place, where you can bring the whole family, relax, look out into the golf course on a hot summer night? This cafe is definitely that, a little bit of an older crowd, but that doesn't stop me from coming. Their Burger, Chicken Fingers are pretty standard, the Hot Dog is huge. You can also swing by the bar here and take a roadie, over to the pool next door, which you can join at a minimal price. I went today for my umpteenth brunch there, since Cross Creek is one of the few places around me who have Eggs Benedict on the menu. I have always thought that their Hollandaise was lacking in lemon, but today's was a total downer. It was tasteless, gooey and an ill looking beige color. Ugh. Cross Creek: SERVICE: Highly variable. From a number of visits I gather that they have significant turnover in their wait staff, which probably accounts for a good bit of the inconsistency. AMBIANCE: Dated, shabby-genteel decor. Lots of casual but affluent-looking senior citizens, some with older grandchildren. Not noisy. FOOD: Consistently first-class down-home cooking. Not a very big menu, compared to (say) the Colonnade (no southern fried chicken, oddly enough), but the vegetables are much better than Colonnade and the drinks are just as generous. WELL KEPT SECRET: On the third Wednesday of every month they have a Maine lobster dinner special. Make reservations, and tell them how many of the guests will be having lobster and how many will be ordering from the regular menu. read more
