I've been going to this gym for some time now and i've never experienced discrimination before. I…read morescan in and head to a machine and before I even start, an employee comes up to me and asks me to leave due to my choice of footwear. Admittedly, I was wearing crocs and as a working professional myself, I understand policies are enforced due to liability. I walked to my friend to let him know that I was asked to leave. On my way out, I noticed other gym members were also wearing open toed shoes. My friend also scanned the room and spotted at least FOUR different people with open toed shoes (crocs, birks, and even beach flip flops!!!) When I brought this to her attention, she got frustrated and dismissed me, saying "I already asked you to leave." I left after that. When my friend was leaving, he also brought to her attention there were other members violating clothing policy. She then immediately escalated by threatening to call security instead of trying to listen to our concerns. My questions are: why didn't she care about the other members violating policy that were already working out? Why was she so adamant to kick specifically, me out, but when made aware of other violators, she stayed seated at the front, talking with other employees? Why is there no follow up patrol for other violators, who already had the time to work out? Why was she selective on who to kick out? I can only come to the conclusion this was a form of targeting. I am a smaller woman, and I felt discriminated and bullied. Regarding enforcing the policy to other violators, at best she seemed indifferent and at worst intimidated by the larger individuals. Attached is the PF non-discrimination policy. If non-discrimination is one of PF core values, I am severely disappointed and hurt :( PF can view the cameras and verify my statements. I have had this yelp account 5+ years and i've never had such a horrible experience with an employee/business.
