I had the best luck here out of other locations such as buffalo exchange at the lab & uptown cheapskate. Just took a look at my receipt to find that customers are now getting charged twice, once for the sales tax and another 2% tax for something called a "living wage surcharge" this is so crazy to me. Today we went to crossroads trading co, we went in and told them that we had stuff to sell and they said it would be an hour wait!, so we waited the hour and expected that our clothes, that were in good condition would be wanted so an hour and a half or so and still not called later, we went in and were still 2nd in line, 5 more minutes and we were being helped by a worker (I think channel) who obviously hated being there, she took a quick look at the clothes and said everything in perfect condition had a stain on it, we had many questions as why she took nothing (everything in the store is in worst condition). I've always had great service at this crossroads. I am always greeted the second I walk into the store which is always something I appreciate when bringing in my business. This location has a great inventory of brands/designers like Madewell, reformation, free people...etc. Not only am I able to sell my lightly used clothes, I can walk away with some great pieces using the store credit I got from selling. Over the years, I've found an LV shoulder bag, an LV coin purse, an Alexander Wang bag, and countless other pieces. Definitely stop in!! read more

Crossroads Trading Co: Because why pay full price for a piece of clothing or an accessory when you can pay a fraction for something that someone else used and possibly did inappropriate stuff to? I'm half kidding. I have sold some of my old handbags to them, and purchased one or two clothing items from this store. Here is my experience: Not everything I've tried to sell to them was accepted, and I wasn't paid much for these items when they were. A nearly new sixty dollar leather handbag I was probably given about twenty bucks for, maybe less. I tried to sell them a Balenciaga bag that I had only owned about two months and had all the original documentation, and I was told that they'd give me less than $700 when I paid about $2000 for the original bag. I ended up selling the bag on eBay for $1100. Tip to those trying to get rid of relatively new high end designer items - this is NOT the place to bring them, unless you kind of like getting gypped. Shop around and ask other consignment stores, or consider listing the item on eBay. I have a feeling you'll get a better deal. From a buyer's and not a seller's perspective, this store has some good deals. I purchased a canvas Coach bag that pretty much looked new for about $30. Considering that most Coach bags run around $100, and this looked great, I thought this bag was an excellent steal, even though it was an older style. They also have some decent replica bags. I have seen a fake Louis Vuitton here and there that looked pretty tempting and it was usually snapped up by the time I returned. Summary: A great place to find second hand items in relatively good condition. A great place to dump items that you don't care about for a few dollars or store credit. Not a great place to sell high-end luxury items unless you are willing to accept a small fraction of what you paid. read more

Every visit to this location has always been met with incredible customer service and a staff that's full of enthusiasm to help. There is always an abundance of quality clothing for men and women of all sizes - there are always note worthy clothes hanging around the store ranging from high end name brands - to local gems of up and coming designers. On the staff staff specifically: Jenn, Madison, and Allie always have an eagerness to help. They are very passionate employees that are my go-to when I have a question or want to sell clothing. My career requires clothes to stand out and leave an impression and this location never fails to meet that criteria. Also I feel it's very note worthy that the staff is extremely gender neutral and will make you feel comfortable to find clothes that genuinely match whatever style you're aiming for. Although there are more than a handful of Crossroads Trading Co. within the OC/LA area I would highly recommend this one to check out. Forgive me. I really enjoy designer jeans; I don't enjoy paying retail for them. I like Crossroads Trading Company, as a corporation, a brand and a store. What I don't like is the exceptionally poor experience I just had at their new Irvine location. You see, as I stated above, I really like designer jeans and at Crossroads I have always been able to pick up several pairs of great jeans for about 20% of what they had originally cost. My secret, which I am now going to share with the world, is that if you really like a pair of jeans, say the wash, density of the denim and/or stitching, size and fit are of no concern....that is if you have a great tailor. I boast a size 34 waist and right now I am writing this review, sitting in a pair of size 29 True Religions. My secret? I have my tailor (who by the way is amazing and you might want to read my other reviews to see who it is) do whatever I need to a pair of jeans, that I really like, to have them fit me and it has never cost me more than $15. This is a winning recipe; well, until now. Yesterday, I was back int he store after having shopped there just days ago, to buy some more jeans. I took 5 pairs of jeans up to the counter and was, from the moment I stepped up, utterly harassed and questioned by someone named Kerstin. Kerstin was ever so curious as to why I was buying jeans ranging from size 32x34 to 38x32; I was not in much of a sharing mood; however she persisted. I retorted back to her endless onslaught of interrogation by responding "I'm going to sell them".(Facetiously I might add). Boy oh boy what a mistake that turned out to be.... Kerstin proceeded to lecture me on how they try to protect their customers (aren't I a customer), by limiting what a person is able to buy and that my selection of jeans was "suspicious." Pardon me for a moment. IS THIS REAL EFFING LIFE? Suspicious purchase? Jeans? A used clothing store? What in the... oy. I didn't take too kindly to the interrogation nor the leveling of accusations. I asked Kerstin for her manager, she replied that the manager was not available but that she would go in the back and call her. Uh, alright. After coming back and informing me that she had "partnered with her manager" (uh, you mean had a conversation with???) they were not going to sell me any jeans. I let Kerstin have a piece of my mind and I left letting her know that I would be following up here, via Yelp and other social media outlets. I would simply stay away from this location, as I said, my experience with Cross Roads has always been an absolute pleasure, in fact my experience at this location last week was a genuine pleasure. Beware of totalitarian gestapo tactics of Kerstin, and potentially even her manager. Very disappointing. read more

Crossroads doesn't look like the other used clothing stores. It definitely looks like a high end boutique until you start flipping through the racks. Plenty of elbow room and very neatly organized by color and size (prices vary). Upon entering, there is a glass case on the right side which contains expensive high end items: Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, L.A.M.B. (Gwen Stefani) purse for $100, etc. To make sure your nice pickings fit you just right, the employee at the back counter will place your items in a fitting room. If you don't purchase their blue Crossroads recyclable bags, do not fret: they will put your things in a plastic bag for you. read more

I regularly frequent Crossroads, but had only been to the Costa Mesa location until recently. I was hesitant to come here because I was told it's a smaller store with less of a selection. Oddly enough, I actually prefer this location better. Perhaps I came on an extra good day before they were cleared out, but I noticed they are much more particular (in a good way) with what they carry, and because of that, I felt I actually found more things I like. Alongside having a more quality selection, their prices for items were higher too, so it's a catch-22. I definitely think there's pro's and con's to both locations, but combined they offer great clothing. I cannot justify buying anything full priced, and you can score on really nice items here. What even is this store? If you want to buy something, it's an alright store I guess (I didn't feel compelled to buy anything though when I browsed while waiting for my turn for selling). Yes, I have to admit that I'm a bit sour because I brought two large bags and they didn't want to buy anything. But it makes me wonder, what do they even want? The girl before me had very hip and on trend clothing (think Urban Outfitters), she probably had like 25 articles of clothing, they literally bought like 2 items. The stuff I brought was some vintage and some brand name. Maybe they have to be very strict with their inventory because it's a really small store, but I dunno. Maybe if you have a 200 dollar "in season" designer item that you just bought a month ago, but you want to sell for like 10 bucks then this is the store for you. Regarding the staff, you can just feel the forced friendliness. However, one of the girls (I won't describe who) is just flat out rude - I didn't even have to deal with her, but I saw her interact with others. I'll just go to Buffalo Exchange, hopefully I'll have a better experience selling there. Someone here called Buffalo Exchange "hipster shit" but I'll take hipster shit over unwarranted pretentiousness and rudeness any day. I have a bad habit of buying a ton of clothes, and never wearing them. It was much worse when I was in High School, and luckily I discovered Crossroads to salvage a little bit of money from my excessive spending. I was super excited when Crossroads opened up in Irvine. I would literally save up my clothes for when I went back home to the Bay Area to try to sell off my clothes. I once went to the Costa Mesa store, but they didn't take anything because I didn't have any designer clothes. I was so offended. Of course, this was in college when my wardrobe was 90% from Forever 21. My taste in clothes has matured since then, as I've become older and make so much more money now. I came in here with four large shopping bags full. I mixed in some spring/summer stuff in there because I was too lazy to sort them out. They're only buying for winter now though, and they took almost all my winter clothes and boots. I was a little saddened watching them price my brand new BCBG clothes with tags (retail value of $100+ each) for $25 or less. But I guess I deserve that loss for being dumb. I walked out with $42 (you get about 30% of whatever they price everything for), and ended up getting rid of half of my clothes that I would have otherwise donated/thrown out. read more

I think all thrift shop stores, wherever you go, will be the same. If you really want to find like a hidden treasure, you have to go to a thrift store in a pretty nice city, like Santa Monica. I've been to Santa Monica one, and this one, and the Santa Monica is like Banana Republic, and Irvine is like Old Navy. But you can still get cheap clothes here. If you just happened to want nicer brands, at a discount, you gotta make your way over to Santa Monica. read more

This place doesn't appeal to me the way it first did last year. I used to think it was better than Buffalo Exchange but it seems like the same store with slightly nicer people...the girls at least. The hipster guy I dealt with today was sorta snooty. He only took two shirts that I was trading. Of course they were slim fit and slightly "trendier". He said he wasn't interested in wider fitting shirts. Um, okay. It kinda pissed me off that he didn't take a single pair of shorts of pants especially considering that their selection of pants is small. Also, I think their seasonal rule is nonsense. It's fall but we live in southern California. It was 93 fucking degrees out today. We don't need to dress in layers, which is what the guy said he was looking for...blah, blah, blah. The store is located in an extremely sleepy, nondescript shopping center in Irvine with a tiny sign that you can't see from Alton Pkwy. You're not that special. Also, most of the men's shirts look like woman's shirts. I guess that's the trend and I'm just too old. On the plus side they have a lot of shirts for 1/2 off. Clothes are great and cheap but the ladies working there are so rude. Probably the rudest salespeople I've encountered. You would think they would be more polite to someone buying 75$ worth of used clothes. Also NEVER put your clothes on hold. I hadn't brought enough cash bc I was buying more than I anticipated. I told them I would come back later to buy the clothes. About 4 hours later, I call to make sure my clothes are still on hold... AND THEY WEREN'T. Literally 2 hours of shopping and trying on clothes gone to waste. They told me to call back in the morning to speak with the manager ( the lady who originally put my clothes on hold) I called the next morning. She was so rude. Saying it was my fault for being on a phone call as I told them to put it on hold. Also that I said id come right back so they put the clothes back once I didn't come back within the hour... Are u KIDDING me???? I was LIVID. But I came back the next day to look for some of the clothes I originally wanted. The manager was there and apologized but it definitely was not sincere. Stressed me out, today I am trying the Costa Mesa location bc I won't go back to this one. read more

I'm a huge fan of the Costa Mesa, San Francisco, and Portland Crossroads locations so I was uber excited when the Irvine store opened up. On my 4-5 visits here I have experienced apathetic, borderline rude service from the employees without exception. I was super unimpressed by the small selection of the store (dresses are all together, contrasted to the Costa Mesa location where there are sleeveless, sleeved, and long/maxi dresses in distinct sections). Looking through the racks I was disappointed that the majority of the clothes were Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, or overflow from the new, private label Crossroads clothes. Additionally, there is no rack dedicated to designer clothes. The magnetic closure on a crossbody purse I purchased there broke after about 5 uses, which I frustratingly couldn't take back due to their strict return policies. The Staff Picks section is nicely curated. I did find one treasure -- a white lace Millau dress. But irritatingly, this dress and a different dress were placed back on the rack while I was in the fitting room trying on a second batch of clothes. I had explicitly asked the attendant to hold these dresses, and I had to wait as she tried to track them down. She was only able to find one of the two items I wanted to purchase. I've also had WAY more success selling my old clothes at the Costa Mesa location compared to here. read more

Total fan! Haven't been to this shopping center for a long time and needed to go to the bank. Saw a sign about trading so I popped my head and was intrigued.... What is is place... It's a thrift/consignment store! In irvine! Sooooo cooooool. Scored a bunch of good stuff on 4 different trips within two weeks. Addicted much? I love buying gently used stuff. I never pay full price for anything. I have to use a coupon, or it better be on sale. Even if it were on sale. I go back for price adjustments. Anyways, love this store. First of all, they have super friendly employees. We were talking about some of the goodies thats come and gone. Most thrift store workers are emotionless and work like zombies. So, that's a major plus to this store. Scored Chanel flats on my first trip. In my size. Felt like Cinderella. Woot woot. They had a beautiful Chanel wallet for $600 but it wasn't functional for me, not that I would've forked over $600. The decision was easy because it wasn't functional. Saw a fendi baguette a la sex and the city Carrie Bradshaw for $40, but again it wasn't functional ... What are you supposed to fit in there? Two major plastic cards and a cell phone? Soo small. It would've sat in my closet for ages until it becomes vintage, but couldn't fork over $40. I don't know. Scored a cute wrap dress by a Macy's brand like impulse (?) can't remember, but it was for $13. It still had the tag attached. They had good looking Tom shoes for $20 but not in my size, that's okay. They had nice leather bomber section, Oscar de la renta blazer, united color of Benetton skirt, Levi's bomber jacket for $25, which my friend bought. Sooooo cute. Had a bunch of designer goods up on the wall for super cheap price like Marc Jacob, chanel tweed jacket, Tory burch, Salvatore farragamo, and DVF, and etc... Hobo wallet for $15 and Macy's/Nordstrom sells them for $98+ .... They had my sister s rain boots for $20 and it looked unworn/excellent condition, and my sister paid $100+ for it. Ha-ha. In conclusion, this is a good store. If you don't use their plastic bag they make a donation to something .... I forget ... Anyways, It's a good deed! read more

I recently come to this location in hopes of getting rid of some old clothes and make room in my closet. Liz was the one who helped me and she was very friendly and helpful. This was my first time at a crossroads and she explained the entire process and made it very easy. They took a few items and I ended up getting a lot more money than I had expected to get. Before coming to sell clothes I would suggest coming through the stuff you need to get rid of and take out anything in good condition, then go through and take our items for the following season as that is what they are looking for (understandably so). Also don't go in with expectations or a too high of an opinion of your personal items as these are the things you are hoping to get rid of so if you are going to get upset about it then keep it if it means that much to you. Always remember THEY Are doing YOU a favor by taking these things off your hands and even giving you money for it so don't be moody with them. There isn't a huge selection for men, I ended up browsing the women's stuff for friends more so than mens stuff. They do have a lot of nice items for women. They even have new items purchased from vendors. Overall great experience, I will probably return to this location. read more

I sold 15 pristine purses here, 9 Dooney & Burke and 6 other higher end bags. My mother was clearing her closet for more :) I had been to 5 other places that were not interested at all. The fabulous woman who evaluated my collection ( if she messages me with her name I will mention her here) was really respectful, professional and pleasant. She took her time and when finished called me over and complimented my handbags. She let me know they would be a great addition to their inventory. She then gave me their excellent valuation of the bags. She gave me the choice of a great consignment price or a fair cash offer. Crossroads is simply the best and this woman should quickly be promoted to District Manager. Great experience all around. read more

This is the second time I've attempted to sell clothing here. I had 3 bags of clothing and high end designer purses that the girl went through in less than 5 minutes and did not take one thing! My clothing is current, clean, and are known labels. Compared to a lot of the basic clothing they had on the floor, I couldn't believe what they didn't take. A total waste of time. Won't come again - would rather donate it all to Laura's House and at least have it go to a good cause. read more

It is a good place to check before you dump all your old clothes to local Goodwill for donation. I had bunch of stuff and they took 3 of my stuff. They offer 35% of cash back based on what they quote you. I believe 50% for store credit to be used if you are into vintage/used clothing. Things to watch for: clothes has to be in perfect condition. Not even tiny stain will get rejected. My still tagged clothes got rejected, so there you have it. If you bring something in that is for the upcoming season(winter clothes for upcoming winter season), you are more likely to sell stuff. It is matter of what you bring in(almost new condition & fashionable at the same time), not how much you bring in. I have seen many people with large bags of clothes, not able to sell even one from their bags. Especially when you are coming from far away, beware because you may just head back empty handed and wasted your money on gas. read more

This review includes both selling and buying at this location. As far as selling goes, they obviously like the nicer, newer items. They bought most of my denim because of the brand names. I made some quick cash, not as much as I paid for even one pair of jeans but I wasn't expecting it. I rather get some cash than have all my clothes just sit in a pile in the back of my closet. As for buying stuff from there, it is a hit or miss. I still think the Costa Mesa has a better selection but it is a bit unfair to compare since that location is way bigger. read more

Love coming here on a day off to spend some time perusing. They have a lot of brand names to choose from and luxury items behind the counter. I got some cute outerwears for a decent price (long sturdy over coat $40 and cute velvet outerwear for $30). Prices do tend to be on the higher side but you don't have to rummage through so much damaged clothing. They keep items in good condition! read more

First time going into this store. I was eating nearby and have lived in Irvine for years. My brother was with me and said wow! that's the same place I go to in costa mesa. So we went over to check it out. Right when we walked in, we were greeted with a snobby "Ya, we're closing in 5 minutes, so...." WE said, "ok, well we've never been here, we were just curious to see what you guys had in here." No response from the frustrated employee who obviously wanted to leave immediately at closing. After straightening up clothes in front of us (loudly and acting annoyed) making us feel pretty uncomfortable. I was able to look through some jeans, which is all they pretty much have for guys... Target denizen jeans mixed with old rock n repubs or guess jeans. selection was super weak. After 3 minutes, the same snotty girl came up to every single shopper in the store and said, "WE are closed! Thank You!" Literally told my wife she could hold something for her if she wanted to come back. Of course there was a person checking out still, and surely they weren't leaving that second, but she sure acted like it. She literally kicked out 3 groups of people without them buying anything. as the owner of a business, I'm sure they wouldn't be happy with that type of customer service. Especially when great places like Jalepeno's next door are getting kicked out and closed down. Enjoy your 6 months in that complex. I can assure you, this business will not last in Irvine. They should realize they are basically a high end thrift store, selling used mediocre clothes. This is not Rodeo or Melrose. The snobby chick needs to lose the "i dont care about my job or it's sales" attitude. Or 6 months may be stretching it! My first visit to the Irvine location, I had been parting with personal items that no longer suit me, and decided to give Crossroads Trading a try to see what I could get rid of and make some cash. They are buying for Spring right now, but Uggs are a great commodity. Along with Coach purses, stylish sneakers. They relieved me of all my large handbags that I brought. Although they passed on my almost new Coach Jolie flip flops (gasp!) They have a awesome selection of designer accessories, sunglasses, shoes, purses. I will most definitely will be back! I was so excited when a crossroads finally opened near my house. I have found a lot of nice clothes from there. My favorite thing to get here is pants. A downside of the place is the organization. They organize their women's top and jackets by color and not size which makes it very hard to find what you are looking for. Also their racks are so packed it is hard to sift through items. i've been to this location of Crossroads Trading Co. on several occasions, and hadn't had any issues. The last two visits I've made to this location, the buyer/staff have not been so friendly or nice, in fact, I'd have to say they were downright snotty and very uppity, making the selling/buying/trading process extremely frustrating and not a pleasant experience. I have never had an problem with the store manager, Kelly. She is really nice and friendly!! I highly recommend and advise going to the Crossroads Trading Co. in Costa Mesa first before Irvine. So to begin with everything at this place is WAY overpriced, second I don't know who is doing the buying for them but the clothes are not cute at all, and lastly I found out that they charge a 3% fee (on top of local tax) for living wage surcharge!!!! From a Consignor's Point of View: Here's the thing: I'm sure they are great to shop with...however: Do not consign with them unless you are going to do it face-to-face. I dislike giving bad reviews, but others need to know what they may face: -They took one item from the first bag I sent. I've yet to be paid for it. And they took the full $15.00 from me to send the rest back. (So no, it was NOT taken from the shipping total.) -The second bag included brand new, unused items that they *specified.* They took NOTHING. (I specified the rest should be donated, so that is what they did.) What I take from this experience, and reading others' experiences, is that it heavily depends on which employee is doing the work. It seems to me, some simply don't wish to bother. So...as a consignor, I say: try Plato's Closet, Thredup or TheRealReal, all of which I have done well with. read more
