Crown Pizza in Waterford is truly a jewel- a family-owned restaurant that has been around for years, Crown recently got nationwide recognition in the form of a hat placed in the Cleveland Indians dugout during a World Series game in Chicago thanks to family friend and Crown Pizza regular and Indians hero Rajai Davis (who happened to be leaving the restaurant as me and my girlfriend were walking in!!!) I had heard about Crown through local news who had reported on the pizza hat and Davis' friendship with the owner's son, and Davis' favorite dish: the taco pizza. The pizza was UNREAL. Crunchy, well cooked crust topped with the usual taco fare, hold the jalapeños and olives (that is how Rajai orders it, as well). Combine that with a really good grilled chicken salad, with Crown's signature garlic dressing/sauce, and my girlfriend and I left stuffed and satisfied. The small dining area in front was a bit cramped, but understandably so for a friday night. The place was jumping; some of the other dishes I was told by a regular to try included the seafood platter (mountainous portions of fries or onion rings with supposedly very tasty clam strips, fried fish, etc.), burgers, and the grinder menu. It seems like there is very little that you could order here that wouldn't satisfy your hunger. 5/5 would reccomend! I hope to be back soon. read more

We order from crown all the time. Always give +20% tips. Recently we ordered a pizza and a salad for takeout and were told 25 minutes. We showed up at 35 minutes and paid. Then they told us they gave our food away and that it was our fault. Incredibly rude behavior by the staff the entire time. Only to find out that they had the food and just needed to reheat they pizza (which we didn't ask for). We'll think more about another restaurant next time we order out. There's really no reason to complain about Crown Pizza. I've been going there since I was little and every food selection is wonderful. I'm so impressed by the staff and manager of Crown Pizza as they make fast food that taste amazing. Even if it's home leftovers! Crown pizza is a simple, no-fuss, family run grinder and pizza place. I love to go with my family when we want a casual and inexpensive night out. The onion rings are the best I've ever had. They're thin, so the bread coating doesnt slip off when you bite them. Yum. My favorite dish is the moussaka (greek lasagna). It comes with wonderful warm bread and a side salad. I wish the salads weren't iceberg, but ya know, it is what it is. The grinders are good, too. read more

Friendly family run pizzeria/restaurant. Dining room is smaller but clean and tables turn over quickly. I usually get carry out pizza. Pizza is very tasty, good price and great value. The cheese portion is very generous. There's no reason to order extra cheese. The sauce is tangy and flavorful without over powering the other ingredients. A great find ... If your looking for Fish & Chips this is the place to go. Four big pieces of fish French fries and onion rings. Yum! Will be our place to go for fish. The owner suggested the fisherman platter next time which we will do. Better bring an appetite as you get a huge plate of food. read more

My husband and I have been consistently eating here since the late 1990's and have never seen "kids" running the kitchen. The food, atmosphere and service have always been wonderful; even before the renovation the place was comfortable, clean and welcoming. This extremely hard-working family does not skimp on quality. I hope you will give Crown another chance, but give them a break and don't go there when you're grumpy. read more

Over the decades, I have watched Crown Pizza's restaurant grow and grow until they consumed the whole building. No surprise, as their food is absolutely fresh and delicious. Their pizzas are cooked to perfection and their sandwiches are ample. I often have a hard time ordering anything other than the pizza or club sandwiches because I crave them. They serve a house salad dressing that is so good that I find myself ordering a salad JUST for the Garlic dressing. The food is as good as the service and the owners are always so friendly and welcoming. You can tell they have a lot of family pride in their food and service. Although the restaurant is always full, we have never had to wait for a table. The most recent remodel and redecorating of the restaurant is clean and crisp and a pleasurable place to dine. No wonder this is a long standing establishment that has stood the test of time. read more

My family and I have been goin to crown for many years. Their house creamy garlic dressing is the best and I use it on just about anything. Fish n chips are my fav though. This is becoming a family favorite- the seafood is actually what we drive 25 miles for... Have the whole clams, or the fish... Terrific flavor. The house made Garlic dressing is very good . I have had pizza or a grinder from Crown on several occasions and have never been disappointed. But when a friend suggested the fish and chips there I was a bit taken aback. Fish? At a pizza place? Surely he must be kidding I thought. But I tried it and he was not kidding. I had the seafood platter. Platter indeed. And better than I have had at many seafood restaurants. Fish, clam strips, (it comes with whole but I can't stand whole) shrimp, scallops, fries and onion rings. It was served on a large dish and was piled high. The onion rings were thin and cooked to perfection holding all of that delicious batter in place as it was eaten. The fries....yummy is the only word that can describe them. Hot crispy and not laden with grease. In fact none of the items had an abundance of grease hanging on them. All of the seafood offerings were top notch as well. Flakey fish, crisp clam strips and shrimp. Seafood perfection on a plate. And a bargain at about 16 bucks. It even came with a nice salad. I have a healthy appetite but I had trouble finishing this feast. I will definitely have seafood here again. The place is on the small side and the wait for a table can sometimes be long, especially on Friday and Saturday night. But the wait is worth it. read more

award winning fish and chips which i never order, but for you people who love that..please do try,, I only hear the best of that.. I personally love the clam strip dinner and the portions are so much, that you most likely will never finish..haha...the pizza is great as well..i get the steak pizza which isn't on the menu but they make it for me..is absolutely perfect...the new renovations there to have helped make it a nicer atmosphere as well.. the family that owns the place is very warm and make you wanna come back...I dont live down on the shore any more but I do make my way over there once in awhile because its worth the trip and gives you a good excuse to go for a road trip!! read more

This is what I can tell you about Crown Pizza, I've lived in the area my whole life, eaten here plenty of times, the place is always hopping, nice hard working people and all that. I work hard, on my way home one night I was starving and called in a fish grinder order, picked it up and ate it on my way home. While i am eating it I notice there was no fish in big spots, so I opened it up and sure enough there are whole areas of the grinder where there is no fish!? Flash forward a month or so, my wife a kid and I go for a quick dinner to Crown. We all split a small pizza and a small chicken cutlet grinder. My wife cuts half of the cutlet grinder in half for her and the baby then a moment later tells me her half doesn't have any chicken on it. So I open up the other half and sure enough there is no chicken on a big part of the grinder. Anyway, I called the waitress over and asked her to tell the owner to put some meat on this grinder and he did, piled high it in fact but that was twice that happened. Could it have been a fluke? Perhaps but i don't think so. I think margins are tight and they got caught cutting corners. So that's that. Now I drive the extra ten minutes and get my grinders at Ocean Pizza in NL where that meat is hanging off the sides. read more
