I went for the Sunday Brunch Buffet. Felt pretty under whelmed. Nothing was great, nothing was awful, except for the weird, super greasy tartar sauce. Catfish was okay, chicken fried steak looked like fried chicken, chicken strips were kind of burned. The baked squash was good, but they ran out and never replenished it. Service was as bad as everyone talks about. How hard is it to remove old plates from the table? I guess too hard. Server asked me twice about refilling my tea. "Sweet or unsweet, Brother?". Never brought me any until it was tip time. I hope you noticed your tip reflected your effort of seating me and bringing me one glass of tea, Brother, because that's all you did for me. read more

This place is excellent. Seating is never a problem. The food is completely amazing! They have great drink specials all the time. If you're in Anna, you simply have to eat here. Sunday brunch is terrific after church. They have a pot roast only on Sundays that you must check out. read more

We tried Crow's when it first opened & we were not impressed at all. We decided to try it again to see if they had improved now that they have been open for a while....I must say our initial impression was way off! We love this place, the food is fantastic, good old down home cooking food. The helpings are huge, enough to make 2 meals. Tonight was our first time to try Crow's and after reading some of the reviews, I was a little apprehensive. I ordered the chicken fried steak with fried green tomatoes (thanks to the person who mentioned them here), squash casserole, and a cup of chicken & dumplings. Everything was so good! Good home style cooking is so hard to find, and I've found my new favorite place!!! Our waiter, Joe, was wonderful and my glass was always full. Went here for a DAR meeting. The staff was super friendly! The food was good! I suggest the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. I also noticed how crowded the place got. We arrived at exactly 11 am when they opened, and within ten minutes it was packed with the lunch rush. I didn't get to try the buffet (because it's Sunday only) or karaoke night (Wednesday), but the food was good! The restaurant is an old remodeled store in ANNA's historical downtown. The place is a little expensive. Everything is over $6.00, except the side salad, and the drinks. But, it's worth it. The place is fantastic! read more

Went on a Friday night and their special was ribs with 2 sides. The ribs were probably the worst ribs I have ever had. They weren't grilled but seemed to be boiled. Color was greyish. They covered them up with bottled barbecue sauce. 90% of my ribs were fat. Husband said his were grissly. In the future we will go to an actual barbecue restaurant for barbecue. But if you can't make something right, then don't feature it as a special. read more

Went to the buffet last Sunday, somewhat reluctantly. On my prior visit I ordered fish from the menu and got a single large piece on my plate that was mysteriously golden brown on the outside, but still frozen in the middle, uncooked!!!!! Gross. I didn't eat anything on my plate that day and they comped the meal. So here I was, giving them another chance. The buffet had the usual stuff; fried chicken, catfish, potatoes, beans, macaroni and cheese and more. I took small servings of many different things including the macaroni and cheese. I ate everything on the plate leaving the mac and cheese for last. Then I saw it! A long black hair in the mac and cheese! GROSS. (My hair is platinum blond with white) I looked for the waitress, who hadn't returned to my table during the entire meal. Meanwhile, I am observing the buffet area and realizing that the set up is ripe for things like this to happen! Unusually high serving pans with no cover or "sneeze guard"! The buffet pans are literally hot water pans topped with serving pans on top of regular, long standard height tables. Open to the room, no protection at all. I waited...... 45 minutes went by....... and still no waitress to report the problem to. I had to flag her down to get the check and leave, which is what I did. No tip for her. I was here on Saturday with my Honeybear. It was just the two of us for dinner. We came in around 6:30, it was not horribly busy. We sat at our table and waited about 10 minutes for our guy server to take our drink order. He was nice and friendly. As an appetizer we got fried maters....Yummy! The service was good up until it was time to go. our server left our tab on the table and we never saw him back again!! He was busy talking to the hostess upfront or joking around with the other staff. We kept trying to get his attention but he dodged to the back. We finally got up (after a long 20minutes) to pay at the hostess stand. **Look, we are awesome tippers...I've been there/done that and worked as a server in a ton of places over the years...so I know how it is, hence the reason why I tip the way I do.... But this guy got the minimum 10% because it pissed me off there at the end playing the attention game and waiting! Not cool dude, I've been double/triple/quadriple sat and I still have never left my customers wondering "Where is she?" Food was great as usual but the service this time around kind of sucked...it could have been better if the guy was not in such a hurry to clean up and finish his shift. It had been awhile since we came here, and I have to give it a full 5 stars now! Service was great, and somehow the food is even better! I love the burger and hand cut fries! Hubby's fried catfish was awesome. Then I got a chocolate meringue pie to go. Oh wow!!!! I ate that pie all week. Reminded me of my grandma. read more

We stopped by for a family meal Tuesday night. I had chicken fried chicken, potatoe soup, macaroni and cheese, and "sweet" corn. The chicken was pretty good, but the rest was just okay. The soup was cool not warm at all and was just watery mashed potatoes. Sweet corn was not sweet but just canned corn, and the mac and cheese was not very warm and tasted not that good. Cheap sides ruined the experience and a step up here would go a long ways. read more

So we live in Melissa and five minutes up Hwy 5 is this cool diner. We've been a dozen times or more always for lunch during the week or brunch on Sunday. We've tried several things on the menu and nothing has stood out as spectacular just pretty good food. Except their desk baked dinner rolls are out of this world. Most of the time the chicken fried steak is exceptional- the quality of the meat is really really good. I prefer a thicker chicken fried breading on mine but theirs is thin but it's crispy and tasty. But here's what is out of this world. The stuffed jalapeños!!! OMG. They call them something different. But I don't care what you call them. Just flat out remarkable. The desserts are mediocre. But brunch on Sunday is really really good. Pinto beans are always really amazing and mashed potatoes are fresh made from real potatoes sometimes a little lumpy. All in all decent place to go. I have noticed that the wait staff is efficient but most seem to be treating is as just a job... they don't engage much and seem apathetic at best. But they get the job done. read more

I'll start off by saying that the decor at this place is awesome. wait staff is extremely friendly went in for lunch. Pretty fast service. Now for the bad part I ordered the French dip sandwich with a side of onion rings. The rings where amazing but the French dip was horrible this is mostly because of the bread choice they put it on a white soft sweet hoagie roll. Not French bread it's called a French dip for a reason! It threw off the taste of the whole sandwich when you dip it in the sauce it went really soggy and there were spots that were soggy with out dipping them at all just from the melted cheese. Maybe this place has better food it probably does but my advice would be to anybody coming here not to order the French dip. read more

Good food. Most waiters are friendly. Mostly HS help so service can be unpredictable. Southern fried menu mostly. Great burgers, bbq sandwich and veggies. A local favorite especially on Sunday for the buffet. read more

The chicken fried steak was extremely tough and the fried green tomatoes the waiter recommend were burnt and served in a clump ball of fried mess. My wife's chicken was raw. Super clean. Lots of character. Loved the exposed brick and old pictures on the walls. Huge portion of fried pickles for an appetizer. Our chicken fried steaks tasted really fresh- no grey mystery meat here, but the gravy was pretty bland. The fried green tomatoes were weirdly cut in wedges but very tasty; I loved the breading, firmness and sweetness. And they weren't greasy at all. Our server (Michelle) was super. The menu had lots of options. There were plenty of specials too. She gave us great recommendations and we left happy and stuffed. Stumbled upon this place when we were in Anna. Live 25 minutes away, but we'll come back again. I'm ready to try the Sunday buffet. Only thing I didn't like was how cold the restaurant was. I really wanted to love this cafe, but haven't had a good meal there in multiple visits. The tartar sauce for my greasy fried catfish was only mayonnaise, not tartar sauce. The squash casserole had problems, big pieces of something Among the squash pieces that looked like flour and water mixture. Flavor wasn't great either. The tortilla chicken soup was more chicken veggie soup with stale tortillas added. I was hoping to find a place I could visit frequently. This won't do. Sad. read more

There is nothing Country about the food or service at Crow's in Anna. Barely edible queso (which is ok, as it's not a Mexican Rest.) but the Baked Potato Soup was almost cold and tasted of very old pork. I believe some grease was used to try to give it flavor. The chicken fried steak was almost as bad. Chewy, and a very off flavor. After speaking to the (presume) owner, it was definintely a bad dining experience. He stood at our table arguing with us, the customer and consumer, about his chicken fried steak. The service was sketchy at best and people from the kitchen peeked around the corner to see who was complaining. Probably their big thrill for the day. We dine out often and rarely complain, only if it's really, really bad food or horrible service. This place got a thumbs up for both, bad food and bad service. read more

After several years of not going to Crow's we decided to give them another shot. The service was even worse than I remember. We arrived on Father's Day around 7pm. We were seated promptly and drink order taken. We got our food fairly quickly but, that is when our experience took a turn for the worst. Most of the sides had zero seasoning....the green beans, cabbage and squash casserole was mostly flavor free. I ordered a steak and shrimp. The steak was much bigger than I expected but, once I tried to cut it I realized it was mostly gristle and not edible. Over half of the steak could not be cut or eaten. I was afraid to even take it home to our dog because the dog could choke. After our food was delivered we didnt see our waitress for drink refills or anything else for that matter. We had to ask for our check twice. This wouldnt be a big deal except there were only 4 or 5 other tables at the time so they werent busy at all. It has been a loooong time since I paid for such a horrible meal in a restaurant. Needless to say Crow's wont get my business again. They need to fire the manager and re-staff or they will continue their downward spiral. read more
