My 3 lb female chihuahua, Sophie, needed an inguinal hernia repair. This little pup is 8 to 10 years of age, suffers a collapsing trachea and enlarged heart. I made an appointment at Crows Landing Veterinary Clinic in Modesto with Dr Carlos Ramirez. Dr Ramirez explained the condition to me and the plan of action in fixing it. His self-confidence in his abilities reassured me that I had come to the right place! The staff at this clinic were absolutely wonderful. They are knowledgeable, caring, accommodating and friendly. If I could it would be zero stars. Well...because I had to go to another vet because my regular vet was completely booked, and my pet was so constipated and looked so miserable. So I contacted Criws Landing Rd Vets, who were able to see me right away. ( Now, I know why!) What a mistake and waste of my time. They tried to make us do surgery on our pet! Our pet was just constipated. The doctor stated the mass is my pet was so large only a surgeon can remove it! Even had the nerve to schedule it for the next morning!! The cost of the emergency surgery was $1200. I told them, "Right I'll call you, and walked out!!" I went to my regular vet who gave my pet a enema and the cost was only $45.00!! I'm glad the new owner decided to buckle and dime us. It made me do some research and although it wasn't the information I was really looking for, it was an eye opener. My fur baby is on Solensia. It's supposed to be a miracle drug for arthritis in cats. Come to find out it's a nightmare drug. Cats are dying and there's a lawsuit against the manufacturer. I have been going to this office for over 21 years and they recently changed owners. I have spent 10s of thousands of dollars over the years and have referred many people to them as they always cared about my fur babies. Today, their new receptionist was very rude to me because of a $113 outstanding balance. I couldn't believe after all the years I have been a loyal patron and all the people I referred that she was so rude to me. I will be looking for a new vet after more than 21 years and I will not refer ANYONE there again. The people used to actually care more about the fur babies. Better to go somewhere that actually gives a care for you fur baby family members. read more

I have been going here for 48 years. I have been through different vets whom all have been awesome. Today 3/11/25 I went in with one of my cats on emergency. He was only 5 years old and I had raised him since he was 2 weeks old. I got to meet the new owner for the first since he took over. I was greeted with the utmost empathy. He was kind and understanding and did what he could for my cat knowing I didn't have much money to work with. Well I wound up having to put my baby down which ripped my heart out but he was not able to be saved. It was so hard on my heart but he managed to get me through the emotional stress. I will always suggest this vet office as they have even now treated my fur babies like their family. So if you want honesty and to know your baby is taken care then this is your vet. read more

Misdiagnosed, poor communication after a $700 visit for my cat. Could never reach the vet after he left room. I called 3 times the following day. He let the vet tech read the blood work said he had to go into surgery and was told it was a kidney infection which it wasn't. I have been going to the veterinarian clinic for probably the last 25 years Dr. Ross, Dr. Jo the staff were incredible, made an appointment to take in my Cane Corso to have his ears looked at I get in there first Tech asked me a bunch of questions not a problem. The veterinarian comes in wanting to do this crazy evaluation of some sort that's like $1300 and I'm like no I just want to get his ears packed. We do this every year, he says fine. He says he looks healthy. does not look at his ears. Dog doesn't get temperature taken. The only time they touched. My dog was to give the medication in his ears, which they did not even clean before they medicated. Or check to see if it was bacterial or just a yeast .The doctor said they would take him in the back and give him a full examination, clean and pack his ears that didn't happen when I mentioned it to the Tech she said no this is fine and I told her they should've been cleaned. She ignored me went out to the front desk. Talk to that person. She was very kind. She saw that I was not happy and said she would talk to them. I just had to get out of that place. I will never return. And insult to injury I was just in there 2 weeks before my poodle got super sick in 2 days, Dr Ramirez came wanted to keep my dog till 5 and if that didn't help I would have to take him to Taylor Vet. The poor guy could hardly breathe. He needed to be put down and not suffer anymore. I feel like anything else its all about a that cash!! read more

Our family sadly had to put our dog down a couple of weeks ago. The staff were the most compassionate people we've ever seen at a veterinary office. You can tell they truly care about animals and the people that bring them in. The vet answered all of our questions and addressed our concerns with compassion. Being new to Modesto, we did not have veterinary care established. We noticed one of our beloved dog's quality of life declining rapidly. Overwhelmed by the decision to compassionately let her go, we did not know where to turn. After calling around to several vets, we made the appointment with Crows Landing Road Veterinary Clinic because of the compassion they had when we called regarding our situation. They made an appointment for us quickly, knowing how painful it was for us. At the appointment, they explained the process, offered so much support and kindness (and an abundance of needed tissues). We were allowed to give her chocolate peanut butter cups (because even dogs need to experience chocolate once in their lives) as she drifted away from us. We received the kindest condolence card in the mail, signed by the entire staff and it just confirmed what we already knew, that the care people and animals get at this clinic is excellent! Ive gone twice with my dog because i was told at valley vet on mchenry that he needed ears flushed after 15 seconds of examining him. That it would be 500$. It didn't sit well so i wanted another opinion. The vets explained in detail. Took there time while using an ear mold of a dogs ear to explain in detail the anatomy of the ear. This place saved my butt, there is no way around that. Dorthy, you are an absolute gem of a person. You need to know, when social distancing is over you have the biggest of bear hugs coming your way. I don't want to go into exact details of what Dorthy did for me, but know the people at this clinic value you and your pet more than anything else. The facility itself was very nice and very clean. Plain and simple the women at the front desk are hard workers. When I was inside the facility their phones were just blowing up and they were slammed with customers and animal control. My experience with dr. Feliz was great. I have a pitbull mix who is best defined as a lover and not a fighter. My pit did not open up to the doctor until the very end of the appointment. With that said, Dr. Feliz was able to flawlessly do her tests on my baby without causing extra stress. At the very end of my appointment, my baby had her tail waggling and her tongue out with joy at the doctors feet. Thanks again to everyone we encountered at this facility! read more

I love this vet. I have been bringing all of my family dogs here for well over a decade. I've never had an issue. I moved out to San Francisco and there have been times when my new puppy has gotten sick and I've considered traveling to modesto just to get her in here. From what I've learned in my experiences at crows landing vet, I've been able to disagree with vets out here and either request second opinions or voice my concerns. My only complaint is that it seems that's they've reached capacity in terms of their clientele. It has become nearly impossible to get an appointment, sometimes even within the next month. Forget about a same day emergency appointment. I suppose that comes with the area having so many dogs to tend to. read more
