Ok. Back to a positive review, today is shot clinic day, and my dog that had such a struggle last visit, thunder, got in and got out fairly easily. I called ahead and let them know that I had giving him the medication to calm him, and had him muzzled, I went in and paid the amount for the immunization, and then they took us in a side door when it was our turn. I didn't see any of the text from last time, but I was introduced to a lovely young vet tech named Gerald hopefully that's how it's spelled. He gave very clear instructions to my son for how to hold him and did the shot quickly and we were in and out. He said he's used to big dogs from being a trainer and he showed no fear, which is key with this dog. I appreciate him so much, I was very worried after last visit going so poorly. I came in to get my new cat his shots and vaccinations and get him neutered. The assistant helped me a lot and she was very friendly and approachable which I loved but when the old female doctor came every spec of positivity went away. She didn't even say hi or try to acknowledge me. She gave my cat a check up and ask nicely if she could give my cat his mandatory rabies shot and she rudely declined and proceeded to patronize me with my knowledge and my situation. She then proceeded to quote me a heavy price of $800 and refused to let me only pay for the essential and mandatory vaccinations. I let the assistant know how I felt but just wanted to write this to let others know what happened to me and hoping she'll be terminated along with that disgusting attitude so no one else gets their day ruined. The only good thing about this place was that they were able to accommodate me on short notice, but the compassion (or lack thereof) was nil. The veterinarian lady and the snobby vet tech that came in with her were horrible. I have never expected to be treated like a baby but neither had any compassion for the situation, which tells me that if you don't even have compassion for me, then you're not going to have compassion for my dog so why would I trust my dog in your hands. No bedside manners whatsoever. I was so flabbergasted by their lack of empathy that I didn't get their names. The vet was an older lady (60s) with short hair and the vet tech was a scrawny girl with dirty blonde hair (maybe something like Kelsey??). Once those two left the room and another tech came in (Kyle), he was the complete opposite. He was understanding and compassionate. I relayed to him my dissatisfaction with the other two workers. I would not trust my dog in their hands, and I ended up going to a different vet which has been absolutely wonderful. And the "Private" closet across from the reception area - SMELLS OF DEATH! I had to briefly open that door to block my dog from seeing another dog coming out since she is reactive and the stench in there smelled like rotting corpses. I did see some of those cardboard pet carriers and I hope to God they are not storing dead animals in there! I know what death smells like and that closet definitely smelled like it. read more

I am sorry to report that I took in two kittens to be fixed. They are strays and I had to just grab them and stuff them in the crate. I thought the two I grabbed were females so gave two female names. Apparently vet staff and doctor did not even check and make sure it was a female but cut into one that was male. When I picked them up, they said, "Surprise, Tigress is a male!" I did not expect to find he had been shaved for a spay and cut and stapled!!! We need the services of low cost spay and neuter and I used them years ago. But I just can't believe they didn't check gender before prep and surgery! Beware! read more

Sir, I appreciate you finally getting back. However, you have not received correct information from your staff. I did NOT come back months later. I came back to have stitches removed as instructed a few weeks after surgery. At that time I was told everything was fine and that she was having a reaction to the stitches and would go away! I noticed it was not going away but to the contrary getting bigger. I called immediately. They said to bring her back. I did not demand to have it removed, however, I did request that Dr. Wallace see her without charge to explain why it wasn't going away (as she performed surgery and that makes the most sense) and to explain why this growth she highly recommended be removed. She specifically said that in her years of experience they are "common" and continue to grow larger which could be uncomfortable for her. Which is why I chose not to have biopsied. Several rechecks? I had one "recheck" to remove the stitches. They refused to see her again without being paid FIRST. They said you get one free recheck period. Why are you saying several? Banging on the door? Sir, you have a glass door. why would you not respond to my e-Mail? Or my phone call? I even left a note on your car asking you to return my call. You certainly do not care. Perhaps you care now (over a month later) because this is a public forum and you want to make allegations about my behavior to make your business appear correct in not addressing my dogs health? You are interested in making money not relationships or the care of our beloved pets. (And I see why as you drive very expensive cars different days of week --made off of us pet owners hearts. :( I'm so very disappointed in your response. a quick check of her eye by dr. Valley Veterinary Hospital - This is the growth exactly where the old one was coming back after the stitches were removed. :( - Veterinarians Near Me - Modesto, California

On February 3rd, I noticed my cat was hiding out, had stopped eating/drinking, and had some discharge from her behind/vulva area. On Saturday, February 4th I called Kitty's primary Veterinary Office and told them all of her symptoms which included not eating/drinking for over 24 hrs, hiding, discharge, hiding out, and not using the litter box as she normally would. They told me they have no exam time for that day and to come Monday morning at 9am since it is first come first serve. On Monday morning we went straight to Valley Veterinary Hospital. When we got there, there was already 15+ people there and we waited over an hour to see the DR. When it was Kitty's turn to be examined they brought me in a room and asked me again all of Kitty's symptoms. She took Kitty's temperature and said DR. GILL would be in shortly. About 30 minutes later he comes in to do his examination which included asking me her symptoms and checking her eyes, ears, mouth/teeth, behind area, and squeezed her abdomen for any thing out of the ordinary. He then tells me he wants to order blood work and get an X-ray on her abdomen but doesn't really explain why he feels she needs these things done. I asked about the discharge and he said it could be a number of things. He leaves the room and about 10 minutes later I was asked to go back to the lobby. I was told it would be ($435) for the abdomen X-ray and ($200.35) for bloodwork, she also mentioned that the urinalysis ($85) is OPTIONAL (keyword: optional). I did not have enough money at that time, and when I told her that she said okay and told me she would print out the estimates to take home with me. No recommendations or tips on what I should do to get Kitty to eat or drink water nor did they inform me of any possible infections she could have or any appetite supplements I could give her to boost her immune system. Tuesday morning she started to feel cold on her paws and the tip of her tail, she quit using the litter box and stayed hiding unless I forced her out to force feed her. I got a 5ml and 10ml syringe from CVS pharmacy and mixed Purina Chicken Bone Broth with some grain free pate cat food to make it watery enough to put in the syringes. All day Tuesday I force fed Kitty throughout the day just to keep her hydrated and alive. While I was at work on Tuesday evening, I started preparing myself for the next step because I couldn't keep force feeding her and stressing her out more than she already was. I called her Primary Veterinary Office again and they actually discussed their end of life care that they have! ($157 to euthanize and $180 to cremate) I asked her if the DR. GILL could call me because I had some questions. She said he would but I never got a call back. On Wednesday morning Kitty was still hiding out under the bed and still had some blood tinged discharge. After reading through so many articles and forums online, I really started to believe that Kitty may just have a UTI because all of her symptoms are pretty much identical. Especially the discharge! So sure enough I call her Veterinarian again and asked them if they think she could have a UTI because her symptoms are similar. I also asked her if DR. GILL could prescribe her Amoxi-Drops for cats because when I tried to buy it online I needed a prescription. She told me No and that I would need to pay for the urinalysis in order to be sure that is what she has. How funny that the one test that they said is "optional" the day of her exam, is the one that would need to be done to figure out if her symptoms are in fact a UTI! After researching online, I found a product called HomeoPet - The Natural Choice - UTI+ drops for cats ($15) I ran to PetSmart and bought it! I mixed in 5 drops with Kitty's liquid food mix I've been making and filled up 3 syringes and force fed them to her. I gave her another dose about 8 hours after the first one. And another the following day. Kitty is slowly starting to act like her normal self again! She is purring when I pet her, cleaning herself, and even starting to eat/drink again on her own! I will definitely update if anything changes but so far she is in the road to recovery! No thanks to this Veterinary Hospital. Not once did they ever mention UTI or even consider it. But me with NO veterinary experience was able to figure it out. All I can say is trust your gut when something seems off with your situation at the Veterinary Hospital, get a second opinion or even just do your own research. When I called back and asked why they felt she needed an X-ray done. It was because I mentioned she hasn't been having bowels/using the litter box. But how is she going to poop if she is has not eaten or drank water in days. I was seriously going to consider putting my cat down after talking with them on Tuesday because I did not want to watch her suffer, I literally thought she was dying when all she had was a UTI! read more

It's a shame that I even have to write this. My dog passed away on November 30th due to lung cancer. We brought her here. The staff was amazing. They were patient and kind. However, when it came to picking up my dogs ashes they had informed my boyfriend (who picked her up) that they sent the paw prints in the mail. My boyfriend asked what address they sent it to and they gave him my old address. I had changed my address with them several times. Not once did the vet tech tell me that the paw prints would be mailed. Had she told me that, I would've ensured they had the correct address (which they should've in the first place since I had it changed several times). Even if they had mailed it to the correct address, why would anyone do that? It could get lost in the mail. Why wouldn't they give it to us with the ashes? We went to my old house and asked the new owners to call us if they received it. I am hoping they do. I no longer have any pets, but if I ever get another pet I will never take them here. read more

I've brought my dogs and cats here for several years, for neuter/ spay, initial immunization/ regular vax, wound care, and viral/ bacterial infection treatment. I can honestly say I have never had anything but a great experience, and some of these visits were for serious and stressful issues. The Drs and staff are always very communicative and explain everything. Sure it's not fun to pay for x-rays or blood work, but every time they've recommended that, the tests were obviously appropriate and helped with Dx and treatment. It can be tough especially with cats because they hide illness so well but this clinic has been a literal life saver. Remember, if your pet is acting differently than they usually do, bring them in right away! These guys will figure out what's going on and intervene before things get serious. read more

Well I guess Dr. Gill doesn't care to rectify the situations either, so I retract what I said about him in my prior review. I was informed by a dogwalker last week that my puppy was missing 2 shots that were necessary to sign him up for walks. I paid up front for the premium puppy plan back in March (nearly $300), so I decided that I would just suck it up and take my puppy just for those 2 shots as they should have been covered with the purchase of the plan. Upon arrival I was told that I should have made THEM aware that I wanted him to have those shots. HOW would I know that he needed them? I'm not a vet! I asked them if they would honor the shots since they didn't communicate to me that those were options and the manager told me that there's "nothing they can do about the past but they'll consider informing people in the future." Dr Gill has no interest in making this right because the manager checked with him and he's the one that told her to relay that info. Very disappointing. My sister just told me this morning that her family received letters that they are being dismissed from the office- they have nothing to do with me and the valid complaints I've made. I know my sister has told them about issues she's had as well, but I feel like they're punishing my family because they're not happy that I spoke up.My sister also paid for the premium plan and still has 2 visits she hasn't used- guarantee you they're not going to want to reimburse her for them even though she already paid. I told my sister that they're honestly doing her a favor, to not give their bad business any more of her energy or money. I think I have visits I didn't use either but I'm not even going to bother. Of course it's easier for them to dismiss anyone who advocates for their pets and points out the issues they need to resolve instead of making things right. Lack of accountability and terrible communication. ALSO-if you expect them to inform you when shots are due you're sadly mistaken. The dogwalker also told me that my senior dog was due for all but 2 vaccines since April! Nobody ever told me and he's been in several times since April for other reasons. I specifically told them in Nov 2021 in an email with my dogs previous records attached to please inform me when he was due. They knew I had a new puppy at home and didn't bother to make sure that my other dog was up to date.They never said a word, because they don't pay attention and quite frankly nobody there cares. I took my dog here a couple months ago for an ear infection. They gave me a bill for her ear and told me her teeth need to get pulled. I ended up doing both and they sent me home with medicine for her ear and the pain for the teeth. I paid nearly 800$ just for that. I gave the medicine just how they told me to do it and barely 2 months later her ear infection is back. I called and told them I just went there and treated her ear infection and they said I would have to pay all over again for an exam which is 60$ and then however much it would be to treat the ear. I simply don't have the money to treat her ear again especially since it's only been a couple months since I took her there to get it treated in the first place. read more

With a pandemic it's really hard to get into a veterinary clinic without waiting for a long time either to get an appointment or sitting in the car. I'm glad they have the system they have right now, you go there you call you wait. Timing is everything! On 7/31/24 took a kitten I rescued smokey to valley veterinary hospital for a big spot on smokey head to find out if it was ring worm, mange or mites since it wasn't healing. I was there for 4 hrs, took forever 744.00, was the bill dr said he didn't have Mange or mites that they would scrap his head and send it to a lab to see if it was ringworm We'll they told me he was neg with all. I rescued another kitten vet stated smokey wasn't contagious so I let the new kitten blue with smokey within 3 days Blue was covered all over his face with what smokey had. On 8/28 I was able to take them to Aminal medical center both cats now are covered in ringworm. Animal medical only charged me 228.00 for 2 office visits all the medicine skin scapping. None of this would of happened if valley vet knew what they were doing. I told the dr I thought it was ringworm, and he told me no. He told to give smokey a bath in dawn dish soap once a week for a month and it would go away. What I freaking joke DONT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE AT ALL THEY ARE NOT LOWCOST THEY ARE SCAMMERS DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. read more

Dr. Gill is very rude and doesn't listen to patient complains. never rechecked for Cancer and now she has to be put down , the rash is cancer. Not her fault but the other vets and staff there suddenly are just terrible. I refuse to see Dr. Martinez. Waste of money because I always have to to come back. She does not fix the problem. Dr. Wallace, Dr. Gill, and the entire staff do the most that they can to make the visit to the vet pleasant for Buddy! They answer all of my questions and concerns as a new dog mom! It is walk-in only so make sure you come with plenty of time, but I only really had to wait maybe an hour at the most on a busy day to come in, the rest of the process was pretty quick! If I could give it zero stars I would. My husband took our 1yo Border Collie because he got run over and couldn't walk. He was in really bad shape. which a huge hole in his groin area. My dog was examined for stomach problems. The veterinarian recommended a sonogram, at a vet in Sacramento. I called the vet in Sacramento and they wanted to know why I needed a sonogram of my pet stomach. I told them I didn't know exactly. They asked for a diagnosis of the ailment. When I called valley veterinarian they said, "they've never asked for a diagnosis before". That is a moot point, because I asked for a diagnosis. Since she said that was a problem, I asked for a diagnosis for myself, my records. She said she would ask the veterinarian if he could give me the diagnosis. This was an incredible waste of time: two calls to Sacramento three calls to Modesto office. Furthermore, I had to skirt the referral, and advocate for myself. I was in a hurry to get basic vaccines and microchip for my latest foster pup before his transport and decided to try Valley Vet. I want to say they're doing good things by offering affordable vaccines and services to people who might not otherwise afford them, but after my experience I'm not so sure that's the case. First off, while waiting for my turn, I listened to the vet advise a woman that she could sell & rehome puppies from her "accidental litter," at 5 weeks since they start eating solids at four weeks. This goes against everything every vet, trainer, reputable breeder, etc says, so I was alarmed before we even got called to the exam room. Then, the vet barely glanced over my foster pup, wrote some notes and walked out, explaining the techs would take care of us. When I got the estimate, I saw he had prescribed two antibiotics for almost $100 in addition to the reasonably priced vaccines and microchip. When I asked about the antibiotics, it was explained that the puppy "probably had an infection since he was from the shelter." I confirmed his temp had been normal and declined the add-ons. Then, I had to put the muzzle on the puppy because 3 vet techs felt ill-equipped to muzzle a 45 lb puppy. So, again, I'd like to believe Valley Vet offers visit-effective services, but I witnessed terrible advice, irresponsible antibiotic practices/up-selling, and deficient animal handling skills. So, buyer beware-ask lots of questions, get a second opinion, and be ready to advocate for your pet and help handle them, or do what I'm doing and avoid this place!! read more

I was a walk-in, they added me to the waiting list and then let me know my dog was not going to be able to be seen but I decided to stay and wait to see if some appt would not show. Again, they let me know my dog would likely not be seen, they saw my worry on my face and made an exception to see my dog, which I was truly grateful and relieved. I have taken 2 female cats here for a spay and 1 male who was my mother's cat. I have also had both my moms female dogs spayed here with no issues. I asked for same day pick up and just made sure to let them know I would go elsewhere if that was not an option and they have always let me pick up the same day. I would say this practice is fine for non serious issues like runny eyes or antibiotics or shots. Other than that I would look elsewhere. I had my 2.5 year old beautiful previously healthy american bulldog Great Dane tested here when he started drinking excessively and he had hypercalcemia. After thousands of dollars of testing we still had no answers and had to take him to sage in Dublin who could still not see why he would have this hypercalcemia. Dr gill was very sweet very comforting and went above in beyond assisting in keeping Bru hydrated at home and once we exhausted all options and the only test left was a stomach biopsy to confirm it was gastrointestinal lymphoma we opted to end our baby's suffering and put him down. The day we put him down was obviously tragic. The total bill was 454.99. $174.99 for euthanasia and $280 for the cremation. Never in a million years would I not think sedation before euthanasia was not standard. I had to watch my dog struggling as his heart was stopped cruelly with no sedation. If you do use this vet, make sure you ask for sedation prior to euthanasia. 3 stars due to the euthanasia experience. I also feel Dr. Gill should have referred me to another specialist to deal with my dogs unusual condition. Edit 6/26/20: changing my review to 1 star. I had a senior cat that was recently diagnosed with FIV on Monday 6/22 by Dr. Gill. He was around 15 years old and declining rapidly. I took him to Valley Vet today to be euthanized. I tried making appointments for other vets in town and was unable to find an appointment that was less than a week out (it's coronavirus season ) other than emergency clinics. I called to discuss the sedation issue that I had with my dog, and I was assured I could pay $40 for sedation no problem. Brittney the tech took him to the back to place the catheter, she brought him back and asked me if I wanted a minute before he was sedated because when he comes back he'll be sleeping.. I asked why he could not be sedated in the room with me, then euthanized? She said they don't normally do that, but that she would ask. I was ready to leave if they were not going to sedate him with me there. The whole point is so he can fall asleep with me there, and I could say goodbye. She took my cat to the back and BROUGHT HIM BACK SEDATED. I was shocked. The tech left him with me to give me a minute, so I'm in the room with him just waiting. Several minutes went by so I came out and asked how long I was going to need to wait with my cat that was sedated WITHOUT PERMISSION for the vet to come in and euthanize? The tech was very defensive and kept stating that they don't sedate in the room here.. and took no accountability for telling me that she would ask PRIOR to sedating my cat for the last time. After Dr. Gill came in and finally put my boy to rest, I told him what had happened and that it was not ok. He was very nonchalant and also told me they sedate in the back, not in the room. I repeated that the tech told me she was going to ask, and sedated without letting me know. All he had to say was "well you know sometimes the girls don't listen." Very unprofessional. They may have well have just euthanized my cat without me present ‍ Thanks Valley Vet for ending two of my suffering pets lives in an uncaring way. Don't go here. read more
