I would describe this place as poorly manages unprofessional and also has the worst customer service I have every seen. My wife and I decided to go get a late night snack we're new to the area so, last Sunday may,1st around 11:45 we call a couple of place to see who was still serving food. I called Croxley's Bartender told me that kitchens is open to 1:00 a.m everyday. So we go, we get there take a seat at the bar Bartender gave us eye contact and continued to ignore us for about 5minutes (note: the bar is pretty empty). She finally walks over we ask her for menus and she said the kitchen was close for the even. My wife and I thought that was very weird taking they just brought food out as we walked in. We left got into the car and said maybe we went to the wrong location so...we call another location the response was the same all locations kitchen stays open until 1:00am. Because this is the opposite information we just got from the Franklin Square location - we call back and ask what time the kitchen closes. Of course SAME GIRL said kitchen stays open to 1:00 a.m every night. My wife responds by saying "Interesting, since we just left and you told us it was closed." She responds "oh yeah we closed early." We will never be going back again unless they hire professional staff that is not trying to leave early with bad customer service! read more

Once upon a time, prior to the craft beer renaissance Croxley Ales was a haven for those who craved high quality diverse adult beverages. Over time, as the average high quality beer selection of many bars increased, Croxleys has deteriorated. If your definition of craft beer is Harp, Dos Equis, Shock Top, Stella, Harp,Bass, Labatt Blue, then by all means this is your mecca. I remember a time when I could find Dogfish head 120 min on tap, now they have no Dogfish on tap at all. Unless it was something like 5 cent wings, then yes, that would beat this offer but I have never seen that before and I can't imagine those would result in positive margins. The first time I visited this location, I went with a few friends. One of which had lost his ID, went to the DMV and got a temporary ID (the LEGAL piece of paper). He showed that as well as credit cards which showed the same name, it all checked out. He is also 24, not like he just turned 21 recently. They turned him away. A few of us stayed after our comrade had left disappointed that he would not be able to enjoy his baybreezes. The rest of us went up to the bar to order a drink. It was our first time there, and someone in our group ordered a Bud Light. He was promptly laughed at and told that they do not carry Bud Light. In order to avoid embarrassment I frantically turned my head 5 degrees to the left and located the tap, ordering the first beer I saw. Overall the experience was just okay. I've been to Croxley's in Alphabet City more times than i can count and have come to this location a few times too. The location in the city is always great (albeit crowded most of the time) and this place has been hit or miss. I've had a wing craving for about 2 months now and finally was able to go this past Saturday. They had a wing special from 12-5pm. I was worried since it's a bar and i have my two kids with me but they were super accommodating (we went around 12:30pm) and even had a kids menu. My group ordered fish and chips, sweet potato fries, curly fries, tons of wings in different flavors and some pasta from the kids menu. I didn't try the fish but judging from my friends' expressions it was only eh and overpriced. The fries were a definite win...mmm! 1 star for that. The pasta was very bland and nothing special about it...plus i had to keep asking my server for the other stuff it came with (side dish - we got french fries) and the dessert. Otherwise, doubt i would've gotten any of that. Oh and let's get to the main attraction - the wings! I dont know if we were too early or what, but the wings tasted like they've been re-fried over 10x and were super dry. Out of the 60 wings we ordered, maybe we had about 10 that tasted fresh. What a disappointment. I'm sad to say that my wing craving still isn't satisfied :( Their new flavors were interesting though - we had the korean bbq which tasted like teriyaki...not bad! One more star there. Another star for our server that checked on us often and was very nice. Came here on Saturday after a rough day at work. Honestly, it's more of a 4 star establishment than a 5 star, but it's currently at 3.5 stars right now, so I'm hoping my rating will balance the poorer reviews. The steak sandwich with curly fries was delicious! The potato skins were good as well, but the amount of sour cream on them was almost overwhelming. Still, I love sour cream so no complaints there. Really good beer choice. Used to go there once a week for wings, Irish nachos (french fries with cheese and green onions), and Blue Moon. They even carry some of the Abita beers (out of Louisiana) that I miss so much. However, my husband and I had a pretty bad experience the last time we went...two customers were incredibly drunk and harassing my husband. We were sitting in a booth, and a man kept coming over and talking to us. He was obviously drunk, but the staff did nothing about it. When it gets crowded especially during the 10 cents a wing special the bouncer asked me and a friend to move out of the way multiple times in an extremely rude manner. Me and a few girlfriends came here straight after work last Friday. Great selection of craft beers, especially in the IPA department! Our bartender was great, and let us sample a few brews we weren't familiar with before committing to a whole glass. Their "free happy hour buffet" consisted of two trays filled with onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and kale dumplings. All of which were pretty good, but ran out pretty quickly and weren't replenished. So we ordered some additional food - bbq pork sliders, spicy popcorn shrimp, and nachos. The jukebox was playing some of my favorite classic rock tunes by default, and reflected the type of crowd Croxley's brings in: mostly groups of friendly older men in their mid-forties. It's the type bar you'll want to be a regular at, the kind where you feel right at home and can just chat with a friend for hours over a few drinks. The service was virtually non existing, our food was served cold, tasteless and with no utensils. We had to wait a good 5-6 minutes for an employee to be seen to even ask for something that should have been placed at our table when we were seated. Lastly, their so called "famous wings?" Were actually one of the worst ive had here in NY. Been going to Croxley's forever. Literally. Been going since it opened. They really were the first bar around to feature GOOD BEER. Something like 100 taps. And their food is very good for "pub-grub". Lots of TVs for your sporting events, and there's a juke box. Parking can be difficult on weekends, as can be getting a table for dinner. It does get crowded but you can put your name on the list and have a beer at the bar while you wait to be seated. Yay Croxley's! read more

Why do I keep going back to this place? The food? The beer selection I suppose? I've been going to Croxlies since this was their only location and they had eighteen beers. Yes-I have a "beer club member" shirt. While the food is still good, the beer selection isn't what it used to be-but there's still good beers to be had. The service has been pretty poor for a long time now. Even when it's not busy, it flat out sucks. Often times, you'll wait at the reception desk forever before getting noticed and seated. Not this visit though-but I expected it. I went this evening with a friend for a few burgers and beers. The food took exceedingly too long to come out. Ten minutes after I asked our waitress for another drink, she came to us and asked if we wanted another round. I reminded her I already asked for another. What she eventually did bring was wrong. Sadly, this low level of service has been the norm for a good number of years now. My friend had a burger with mushrooms-and got violently ill a few hours later. Yep, it was the mushrooms. Rockville Center is a bit better but I think after all these years I'm finally gonna erase Croxlie Ales off my go-too list for good. This has been overdue. read more

I'm a big fan of Croxleys in Franklin Square, the food is well served, the selection of beer is great, and its a nice bar environment. Nice selection of TV's, and it's never too packed in the place where its unbearable. They have 10 cent wings on weekdays, but i cant understand why they dont have 10 cent wings on Friday nights and Saturday nights. I think they would get more business that way. Buy-backs on beers is sometimes inconsistent, but the bartenders are great and always friendly. read more

I've tried jerk wings from many places and the ones I had that day would be in the conversation of worst I've had. Went there last night. Party of 2. I asked to sit at the empty booth in the front near the bar. The hostess asked if I wanted to sit in the back. I politely declined and pointed to the empty booth and asked if we could sit there. We wanted to watch the game. The hostess kept positioning why we should sit in the back. After about a minute of going back-and-forth, she relented and brought us to the booth. My girlfriend and I ordered the burger and beer special. The two different beers that came out were cool, but not cold. We usually go to a lot of places and enjoy a nice cold beer. It wasn't as if the glass was hot, the beer was just not cold. OK, not the worst thing in the world. Stuff happens. We let our waitress know that the beers were not cold. We finished the beers. We were not going to order them again, so we each ordered a Yuengling. When the Yuenglings came out...The glasses were ice cold, and when we tasted the beer, it was ice cold. However, it was not a Yuengling. It was a raspberry tasting beer. Which, they had a few on the menu that day.we let our waitress know that this was not the beer we ordered. So, it went back and I watched the bartender go to the correct tap and pour it again.The beer came over and the waitress assured me 100% that this was the correct beer. She left and then we tasted the beers. It was this raspberry beer again. We told the waitress that they probably had their tap lines mixed up and that they should look into it. We were not sending back the beers, we were going to finish them. The waitress came back and told us that the bartender said the beers were in fact Yeungling and that we were wrong, because all of the regulars at the bar said it was Yuengling. Unbelievable. I don't think they even tasted it. And, I am sure each and every regular sitting there, was drinking this brand of beer. LOL. Ridiculous. The fact that they would not even consider that they were wrong, blows my mind. Listen, I am not some 22-year-old, who doesn't know what Yuengling tastes like. In fact, I have been drinking it on and off for over 20 years. Anyway, the burgers and potato skins were awesome. I went with my wife to Croxleys Ale house for dinner.We were told not to make reservations yet when we got there they said there was a 20 minute wait.After being seated 45 minutes later wee waited 15 minutes more to get served. I ordered a chicken quesadilla appetizer which was ok but not even close to being very good.We then ordered two burgers which were OK but were overdone. I ordered a beer which was very good.My wifes diet coke was not drinkable. We then packed away our leftovers but the packer did not close the top to the quesidillas which later fell on the ground. Service was good but slightly non responsive due to the large crowd. The meal before my discount was over 55 dollars a very high price. The price to value ratio is much below average for this type of restaurant. All in all this was a poor experience and I will not be returning in the future. read more

Once we got our food it was okay. The wings were great however our Mac n cheese was dry and tasted reheated. Towards the end of our meal we were told for every wing we did not eat we would be charged 50 cents... for wings we already paid for and were taking home- talk about a rip off! I came here for dinner with my son. After waiting a long time to be greeted at the front door we were directed to a severely wobbly table in the back. We decided to move to the next table over since no one was around. We were promptly reprimanded by a rude waitress. She stood next to me with a dish in her hand and told me to get up so she could get through with a scowl on her face. Even though she could have went around, I compiled and got up. After making a fool of me (I am a senior citizen) we moved to another table and were served. After the meal, she conveniently forgot to bring me back my change from the bill. I needed to ask the manager for my change. He had nothing to offer but to say he was sorry and defended her. I have been to hundreds of restaurants and this is the last time I would ever go here.
