S-L-O-W We assessed our timing prior to our scheduled boarding time and looks like we had more than enough time to grab a bite before boarding our plane. Located inside the Mobile Regional Airport this was the only place to get hot food. So this is a cafe and bar in one place... two round high tables, four bar stools and there you go... bar and grille! Oh, there were also a few more high tables placed outside. We proceeded to order. At first we wanted something from the breakfast menu but we were rudely told that they were serving lunch now. Oh okay, so we quickly switched to the other menu board and decided: grilled cheese sandwich, hamburger and a BLT. There were lines coming from both the food and bar area plus people hanging around waiting for their food. Not a very efficient setup. It didn't help that service was slow. This is a pretty interesting little setup. Far in the back of the Mobile airport is a Hudson News with a greasy spoon attached. Expectations were low, but the chef did a great job. A BLT and chips wasn't even $6, and featured wheat toast. 20 oz drinks were a complete ripoff at $3.49 so I suppose the sandwiches are the loss leaders. If you have time to stop somewhere before the airport, you'll probably want to do that. But if a time crunch has you eating at the airport, your expectations will be exceeded. read more

Beware! The bartender/server will cheat you. I ordered a Texax Margerita and a cheeseburger without fries while sitting at the bar. The bartender sarcastically asked whats in it, Itold her, then said it's not from Texas, but Mexico. After that she prepared my drink with the requested tequila, but not the Grand Marnier as I asked. Even though she had it, she used Triple Sec instead. At the end of service she told me my charge and asked for my card. I paid it then she gave me my receipt. I was hurrying to get to my get, so I didn't read my receipt until i sat down. Upon reading it, I saw she up charged my cocktail $8 for premium liquor and charged me for fries that I didn't order. Well this is one of the most interesting airport establishments I have been to. It's the only place to eat or drink once you are past security at the airport. Three seats at the bar. Order at the bar and you can sit at one of the tables. The food is mostly fried. I got to the airport way too early. Security was quick. I sat here for a couple hours. Beth was very nice. During the time I was there traffic would increase dramatically and then about one out of every three orders was messed up. Bills got confused. Some orders took forever there doesn't seem to be much method to the way orders are completed. They do have a full bar and I suppose it is normal airport prices. worst experience, super rude and bitchy service from two lady's who have overpriced shitty food. $40 for a small bacon egg and cheese sandwich which had to be substituted with bread cause they're out of biscuits?? their whole menu is 6 things 5 of them being biscuit sandwiches, i ordered a breakfast platter and they put a super dry over cooked old sat out sausage instead of the bacon i asked for and slapped my eggs and all my food on some nasty ass grits i didn't want but they were also out of potatoes so i couldn't get it off. can't get just a sandwich either has to be a combo. don't ever go it's not worth anybody's time and i'm surprised they're still in business read more

We decided to go through security to stop at this place but we regretted it and wish we would've stopped at Quizno's outside of security instead. The service was slow, the employees were rude, and the food options were not greater than what you would get at a ballpark. Just don't go here or keep your expectations low. read more

I figured it would be exceedingly easy to get a flight out of a tiny airport. Since we showed up to the airport six hours before our regularly scheduled flight, and it just happened to coincide with the only plane heading back to Houston that day about to leave, I felt like it was fortuitious. However it was not to be. The flight was fully booked because of course everyone wants to get the F out of Mobile at 2pm. So no, I was stuck here until around 7pm. I was quite disappointed. Chiefly because I wanted to be back in Houston to take care of things like playing my xbox and eating the pizza I keep in my freezer in the ordinary course of my limited domestic abilities until I move it from the freezer to the oven and then later into my mouth. Since I was stuck here at least there was wifi. So I started catching up on my stories. Since I actually had to do some serious work for the past two days to justify my plane ticket and per diem expenses I had not caught up on my stories and there were plenty to read through since I had not only today's but also the yesterday and over the weekend. There was a particular story that resonated with me since it involved Johnny Walker Black Label. Because vodka is evil, and black label is savior. And I have never seen a blind Irishman, so there is that. Here at the airport bar the Black Label is priced the same as any other alcohol, so it is not necessarily top shelf, but at my income level, black label is something you can live with. It also made me think of the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, but that is a different posting entirely. Chris was the bartender and he was awesome. He apologized for not providing immediate service - he was busy with other customers, that is definitely alright he didn't shove them out of the way to help me first - and he was nice as he discussed the pricing and stuff since it was not apparently posted. He also did a great job on the upsell convincing me to go for the double rather than the single since it was only a dollar-ish more. It turns out he had sage widsom since my flight was delayed two hours and I have been stuck in this airport for far too long. He was an awesome bartender altogether, very nice and customer-service oriented. He belongs in one of the fancy bars like Anvil in Houston rather than the Mobile Airport Bar serving disgruntled passengers that just want to get the F out of this city. But for those stuck in the airport, he provides great value as a friendly guy, great bartender, and he is good with people. Hopefully someone in the chain-of-command notices this and gives him well deserved praise and maybe a raise. Or if you're stuck here a lot longer than you had intended to be in this airport, stop by for a friendly conversation and a drink with Chris. He will make it worth your while. read more

I had a great experience, the grilled chicken wrap is amazing. It is spicy, the cornbread is perfect and sweet. They have a line sometimes due to few choices but man it was delicious. Nice to have other choices than airport kiosk sandwiches and yogurt cups. read more

Cruise City bar and Grill has a problem. Maybe they have a few problems. Firstly don't think TGIF or Ruby Tuesday when deciding to eat here. Think, well I don't know what to think. There is a grill service area and some tables and chairs, maybe six tables. Then there is a bar area with a seating are that probably suitable for three or four people as long as they face forward. The food was typical airport quality, with airport level of service. I had breakfast; some grits sausage and and a biscuit. Nothing outstanding and the sausage was plain old bland. I was assuming there would be some spice in the sausage, but not so much. My real problem was the staff. Cruse city Bar and Grill is where Southern Hospitality goes to die. There was no warm greeting and smile, just a perfunctory disinterested "how can I help you". When the person who took the order walked away I wasn't clear on my next step and no signals from the staff on what to do next. The food was put in the Styrofoam server and then a differnt voice quoted a price a a hand came out by the register. Still no smiling. When I said I wanted a bottle of water with my meal I was told "Go get it" and pointed to the cold case. Here is where the big problem happened. Apparently the cold case door was broken. Anyone who has pulled something out of a cold case knows that the doors are designed to close automatically like the screen door on your house. Well this one was broken so it stayed open. I did, what I am sure many other people do, after I grabbed my drink I turned my back and walked away back to the counter. When I got there another person behind the counter said "Sir" and pointed back to the cold case gesturing for me to close the broken door. Of course I went back and closed it. What really bothered me was I saw this pattern repeat several times. Patrons were told to get their drinks from the case and then as they walked back were told to return to the case to close the door. IMO this is poor customer service. CRUISE CITY. Either fix the door or when a customer heads to the case explain that the door is broken and ask them to close it manually behind them. Getting the staff to smile and be warm couldn't hurt either. read more

I ordered a hamburger and I tried to sit at the completely empty bar. I was asked if I was going to order a drink, and I said I hadn't decided yet. I was told I wasn't allowed to sit at the bar unless I was going to drink. That's a funny way to twist one's arm to order booze. The lady bartender looked she had filthy hands anyway. read more

Mobile airport terminal. This setup has a selection great f snacks and sun-dried you'd expect plus a grill and a full service bar. I got a cup of coffee at the bar and went back in a bit for a bag of chips. The staffing g was only at the Grill counter and at the bar. I got in line. One person ordering food from the Grill it looked ok, nothing exceptional, just your standard frozen french fries and some sort of anonymous sandwich. With a scowell, the young black guy at the grill counter told me and the woman in front of me --the only ones waiting: "I don't know why you're waiting here, she can help you (gesturing to the woman staffing the bar who had served me the earlier coffee). ...I don't know why she's not helping anybody.. you need to go over there.". Rude and with some chip-on-the -shoulder attitude. "Over there" was one turn step sideways in that same line. This older lady was waiting on a bar customer. I turned sideways and waited for the woman, who helped me when she finished ringing up the customer. The lady in front of me ordered food from Mr. Cranky Pants who needs a different job. All other people here are courteous but not this young man. Guess he thought he was working in his dad's own Chicago business or something, where rude obnoxious behavior is ok? Nope dude, you are at Mobile's airport serving incoming and outgoing cruise passengers at Carnival cruise this port. You give your city and business cards bad name. It was NOT busy. The grill cook was S L O W. I placed my order, a BLT. The lady called it out to the guy and he looked up but ignored her as he kept on talking to a friend. Another order was called out a few minutes later. Same thing. He looked up then talked for another minute before finally stepping up to the grill. I guess good help is hard to find. The BLT wasn't good. It had a wierd taste to the bacon. I dont know anyone can screw up bacon but he did. read more
