Mini chocolate chip cookie and Dubai Chocolate Cookie
    Alex W.

We placed a pickup order for one of the Weekly Special cookies. We went with Dubai Chocolate, it is a cold cookie. It was so rich we had half when we got home and we're saving the other half for after dinner. There's a brownie portion on the bottom and a phyllo pistachio layer on top. I also got a mini chocolate chip cookie, I liked the sea salt on top.

Snickerdoodle and chocolate chunk large single cookies

The chocolate chunk cookie was my favorite. The snickerdoodle was good too, but the icing on top made it too sweet for me. It's a small store so it's good for a grab and go sweet treat in the middle of your touristy activities. There are 2 kiosks and a cashier counter you can order from. I ordered 2 large cookies and they were ready fast.

    Skillet Toffee cookie

This is one dirty crumbl; a mop and dish rag would be sufficient. The screens are in disrepair and the service is indifferent. I was excited to try the Toffee skillet cookie on the secret menu. However, it fell short and was missing toppings. It was a waste of money and I'm not sure I will return to this location.

    What I ordered

Placed Crumbl order for late evening craving. Order box of big 4. Milk Chocolate Chip, Cranberry White Chip and 2x Frozen Hot Chocolate. My order was delivered an hour and 20 minutes later and it was incorrect. I'm terribly disappointed. A refund was requested immediately and approved by Michagan Ave Lead - Marrianne. Sooo.. A couple of coworkers will be surprised with the mistakes of 2x Raspberry Cheesecake chocolate cookies tomorrow morn I suppose --or tossed out.

We decided to finally try crumbl. The place was a bit of a letdown. After seeing all the reels, I was very hyped up but the place was underwhelming in terms of both ambience, service and taste. Most of the cookies were sold out when we went it. We had to order everything ourselves at the kiosk. The cookies were ready in minutes. We took a to go box and decided to try once we came home. We got the mini three pack with chocolate chip, butter cake and caramel. The butter cake one was my favorite. The chocolate chip cookie had literally 3 chocolate chips in it. Skimping much? Each cookie had over 250 calories even though they were mini sizes. Overall, I don't get the hype about crumbl and I will not be back. Yeh cookies are definitely not worth the calories.

    Kentucky Butter Cake Cookie

Had the Kentucky Butter Cake Cookie and they were QUICK. I placed my order on the tablet and it was ready in 5 seconds. Was warm, soft in the middle and lightly crunchy on the edges. Flavor was amazing. It wasn't too sweet either, probably would be even better dipped in milk.

Mini 3-Pack: milk chocolate chip, chocolate covered strawberry, lava cake

The chocolate strawberry cookie for Valentine's day was so good! Everyone knows that, bakery-wise, Crumbl will never beat a local bakery. But that cookie was good. The chocolate chip and lava ones were okay... I just think a chocolate chip cookie should have a lot more butter and brown sugar flavor.

This location is on a very busy street, but the store is very small, no seats so it's designed to order and go. Cookies are large, so prices are as high. Now let's talk cookies... my favorite was the rainbow sugar cookie! As the name of the location mentions, the cookies WILL crumble. The peanut butter cookie is very sweet, so have a cup of water ready on the side. The chocolate chip, you can't go wrong with that one. Each chocolate chip was massive, and bold in flavor. I think it's worth trying them while in Chicago, but I recommend sharing.

These little cookie shops are popping up all over, so I decided to try this new-ish location on Michigan Ave. First thing to know: this is a take-to-go kinda place (read: no seating). Also one of the smaller Crumbl shops I've seen, especially for such a high traffic area (read: prepare for it to be busy). I visited during off-peak hours and was able to belly up to a kiosk, get my order, and receive my cookie all under 5 minutes. They definitely have their process down. I'm also not 100% sure on this, but it seems like they're cashless since the kiosks only have a card reader. Just something to note. I decided on the snickerdoodle cupcake cookie, which was the size of my face, for a little over $5 (without tip). Texture-wise, I wasn't expecting the outside to be crispy, and would have preferred the whole cookie to be as soft as the middle. The taste was ok but I wouldn't go out of my way to get this flavor again. Overall, I feel like Crumbl flavors can be hit or miss but I am a fan of the weekly rotations so there's always something new to try.

I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

Usually when I wait that long for something I get extra harsh on critique like my god you better be worth the wait.... And unfortunately this place WAS actually that good where I couldn't even be mad. Filipino breakfast combo ($20)-- has both longanisa sausage and tocino, suuuuper savory and goes great with their garlic rice and sunny side up egg. It's one of those things that's just so simple but so soooo good when done right. Pork belly adobo ($20)-- weekends only! braised pork belly with garlic rice and sunny side up egg. This is similar to a Taiwanese Lu rou fan. It was slightly sweet with the savory. It gets kind of fatty/greasy after a while but once you add some chili and vinegar from the basket it's all good !!! Longanisa breakfast sandwich ($12)-- didn't add the hash brown but that was an option! Soft bread, fluffy egg, cheese and longanisa... again so simple but sooooo good! The Longanisa in this was like a meat patty vs the sausage in the breakfast plate. Same name but different enough I promise! Didn't feel like I got a duplicate or anything like the textures are different! For pastries... forgot the price-- Salmon danish: Weekend only! Wish we got more!! It was perfectly light and savory. Doesn't have that strong fishy smell and the flavor was so good. Smoked salmon, cream cheese, fish roe... how could it not be good!! Cheesecake: SOOOOOOO GOOD!!! Again, should've ordered more!! Not all cheesecakes are created equal but THIS ONEEEEE was so so good. The crust:filling ratio was perfect. It was rich and creamy. Doesn't mix in cake/filler like some other places. Just good, pure, classic cheesecake with some good fruit on top. Cardamom bun: Texture kind of like breakfast bun/kougn amann but tastes like a light pumpkin spice, thanksgiving. Goes great with coffee I'm sure!! This flavor profile in general isn't really my thing but my friend loved it !! Banana bread: Really not the most aesthetic thing. It's almost kinda ugly in pictures ... but what it lacks it makes up for in TASTEEE. I should've gotten a cross section but there's dark chocolate and nuts and the banana flavor is there and sweetens everything so nicely. Also, you order at the counter and they'll bring it to you at the table in order of drinks then pastries then food. Not sure how it works if you want to order more tbh like if you finish eating and want more dessert. Would I wait 2 hours again? Unfortunately probably yeah. Since I'm a visitor it's not like I can go during off hours/random weekdays etc. And everything was soooo good I'd definitely come again next time I'm back!!

Which makes sense given the sheer volume of people they serve, so you'll have to try and snag one of the few seats along the edges. Once we finally ordered, the service was incredibly fast. The sandwich came out in less than 5 minutes! It was definitely a good, tasty sandwich, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. I bought 3 and my friend got 2. Calamansi cream + pistachio paste danish was my favorite. The Calamansi cream was the perfect texture and density with a fragrant citrus note. Flaky dough, soft pistachio center and creamy top with a sharp citrus cut. Peach + raspberry Melba danish. The peaches were soft. I'm not familiar with a Melba dessert but the center of this was almond paste which is not my favorite but if you like almond and tart danish it would hit the spot. Raspberry espresso cream cheese cinnamon roll was a fun fruity twist to a cinnamon roll. Couldn't really tell there was espresso though. Blueberry lime cheesecake danish. I also liked this one because of the lime. It really cuts through the heaviness. The fruits on top were also fresh. They also have one day old blind boxes. I grabbed a 6 piece day old box to go and it was actually 6 different pasteries, half sweet and half savory! It only repeated 1 of the pasteries I had originally tried so I'm excited to try more, especially the savory ones. It's an amazing deal if you just want to try a variety of flavors. Tried the Hot dog danish - really good! Upscale pigs in a blanket vibes. The tiny fried are seasoned perfectly and add a fun crunch. I went on a weekday and there was still a good selection of pastries left around 11am. The staff was super nice and helpful as I struggled to make a decision. They shared that the strawberry milk croissant was their bestseller, so I opted for that. It was filled with fresh strawberry mascarpone and fresh strawberry puree. Despite the croissant's decadent appearance, it was not at all too sweet. I'm not typically the biggest croissant fan (I know, I know, no one is perfect) but this pastry blew me away. The filling was super generous without overpowering the delicate dough, which was baked to crispy perfection. The cake tasting was a wonderful experience, giving us plenty of delicious options to choose from while helping us create the perfect cake for our special day. Throughout the entire process, their communication was outstanding. They kept us informed every step of the way and worked directly with our wedding venue, "Firehouse Chicago", to coordinate the delivery and logistics. Everything was handled seamlessly, and our cake arrived exactly as planned without a single issue. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but Bittersweet's professionalism, organization, and proactive approach gave us one less thing to worry about. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellent customer service truly stood out. One feature we especially love is that they keep the recipe and design of your wedding cake on file. Every anniversary, they can recreate your wedding cake or a cake in any size you choose. We've continued this tradition, and each anniversary cake has been just as delicious as the original while bringing back wonderful memories of our wedding day. If you're looking for a bakery that is responsive, dependable, and delivers an outstanding product, I highly recommend Bittersweet Bakery for your wedding cake or any bakery needs. They responded promptly to our questions and requests, unlike some businesses that never replied to estimate inquiries. Their customer service and quality were truly exceptional. A heartfelt thank you to Samuel who conducted the Cake Tasting and the entire staff at Bittersweet Bakery for helping make our dream wedding a reality. We will always be grateful and look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries with your incredible cakes.
