I've been enjoying Crush's journey in the Anchorage area for the past couple years now. From their first location across from Nordstrom to their new location at the Sacks cafe location on G street. It dawned on me that I posted plenty of photos, but never reviewed. I can confidently say the food has always been on point and service rarely suffered; and when it did it was at the old location. This review is for the new location. Cheryl truly cares about the customer experience. Haven't been here in 6 months and she remembered me by name, knew my seating preference, and remembered what I like to drink. I was stunned at her skills of recollection and commitment to the customer experience. Wide variety of wines. Don't worry. Let them offer you sips of those that interest you before committing. Numerous flights are also available. I was introduced to a nice Rosso Toscano that was fantastic. Started with Roasted goat cheese salad shaved fennel pecans slices apple house vinaigrette. Wow. So fresh and not overdressed. Opt for the small portion as appetizer. Entree. Filet. Rubbed with salt pepper and grilled med rare. Herbed yukon gold roasted Brussels. Cambazola and shallot butter. Fingerlings amazing: Fried baked and roasted all at once. Wonderful accompaniment. This steak rivals the other "steak houses " in town. I love their eclectic selection of digestifs from Italy for after dinner libations. They stock rare and hard to find amaro. I recommend Amaro Montenegro or Amaro Nardini. Try drinking dessert for a change. Very satisfied and can't wait for another visit. Will rate 5 stars after I can experience true consistency. read more

Food, service and ambiance were all top notch. Quaint little restaurant with friendly & professional service. We were only in Anchorage for two days. We went to Crush on our 1st night and loved it SOOO much that we went back for our 2nd evening. We had the baked salmon special, fish & chips and baked Alaska one evening. Received a gift card from a friend to come here and I must say, we really enjoyed it. It's loud and there isn't anything special about the ambiance or service, but the food is delicious. We were highly satisfied with with what we ordered. They had a great bar menu as well. Craft beer, unique wines, and unique craft cocktails. They don't have a big menu for their large plates, but it has good variety (everything from seafood to steak). I had the lamb large plate and the portion size was great, I had enough for leftovers. The presentation of the food was very professional and boutique looking. The meat was so juicy & tender, it was slightly on the overly salty side, but the tahini and steamed zucchini helped mellow it out. This place isn't very big so I would encourage making reservations, especially if you have a large party. Only reason I'm not giving it a 5 is because I didn't like how loud it was and the atmosphere, but the food itself is definitely worth 5 stars. read more

Finally got to try this place. Love it that we can quickly make reservation online and the menu is quite unique. I loved the brussel sprouts with pouched egg and the grilled octopus. The octopus was cooked just right: tender, sweet, lightly charred. Most places overcook their octopus, but not here. I also had their swordfish on special. That delicious with salsa on the side. This portion was actually quite large, which I was pleasantly surprised. It's probably a bit on the pricey side (wil likely break a college students budget) but relatively normal price for downtown Anchorage. read more

How do I even begin? The host, the bartender, the busser, all fantastic professionals. But our server, Lynn? A goddess. A true example of someone who loves their job and whose skills shine through the busiest moments. Our new best friend. An automatic 30% gratuity. But the food? Equally divine. Lynn wouldn't work somewhere below par. We had a salmon special with zucchini noodles and fingerlings- divine. We had a duck breast with a cherry something and squid ink pasta- a poem of flavor. Maybe I'm hyperbolizong, bit when you try this food you'll understand. The beverages- I am reasonably schooled in wine. I at least know what I like, and Crush has it all. Reds, whites, rosés, a smorgasbord of delightful options for every palate and that doesn't cover their cocktails (original takes on classics, classic takes on originals,) or their digestifs. They truly have libations for everyone. Overall 9/10 experience at Crush. The only point against them is that they're so popular that you MUST make a reservation for the full experience (not really a problem lol). As an Anchorage local born and raised, I can't recommend them enough for a perfect dining experience and Lynn particular made our experience perfect. read more

This place was an amazing find during our brief trip to Anchorage. The wines were great and the service was beyond excellent. We definitely have it on our agenda to visit again prior to leaving. My one caveat is some of the food options looked to be a bit pricey. However, as we didn't order any food, I won't drop a star as it may turn out to be fully justified. If you are in the area and growing tired of the excellent craft beer scene, you definitely need to stop in and change gears for an amazing wine experience. read more

Service was 5-star. Ambiance was 4-star. Food was 2-star at best. In particular, the Halibut "special" was a very, very small serving of what seemed like ratatouille with exactly 3 little chunks of fish in it. And the pieces of fish looked like they could have been the scraps trimmed off of a prime fillet of Halibut. Lesson learned. When the Halibut "special" is $10 less than the regular Halibut entree, I should have known that you get what you pay for. Needless to say, we will not be returning. read more

Oh my God, the Thanksgiving meal we got from Crush this year was absolutely delightful! The chefs there are pros at making it right, setting tantalizing flavors and making it so easy for us at home! Ordering (I believe we spoke with Sophia) was so easy thanks to her expertise; she knew her menu quite well and set us up with a dinner that couldn't be paired any better. I came here with my husband for a date night and I cannot complain. During quarantine I got really into wine and their wine flight was a great option for tasting. Their food was spot on and delicious. A little pricey, but worth it. Would definitely recommend for a date night. I had the pork belly and husband had the rack of lamb. read more

Wanted to come for years. Finally did. Not worth the wait. Ice cold red wine. Yuk So much material from the wine in the bottom of my glass - the wait staff steered clear. It was at least a tablespoon of gunk in my glass. I get it - it happens. But when 3 different wait staff obviously see it - and do NOTHING- it speaks volumes for the place. I ordered the Nashville hot fried chicken. The chicken piece was the backbone, with a small wing and drumlet attached. Probably 4 bites of chicken total. It was also a greasy mess. The fries were translucent they were so grease soaked. The coleslaw was bland and flavorless. I've never made coleslaw in my life but I could make better than this. The biscuit was an insult to simple biscuits. The best, absolute best part of my dinner were the pickle slices. The service was poor, slow and again, avoided the globs of goo in my wine glass - set perfectly at the edge of the table for all to see. I didn't say a word. Left the goo, left a plate full of greasy fries and coleslaw...and chicken bones. For the price paid, I could have had a bottle of excellent wine and really good chicken to go from the chicken shack in midtown. Disappointing as I had wanted to go since they were located adjacent to the 5th Avenue Mall across from Nordstrom. Not coming back. read more

I met up with a retired coworker to catch up, and we started with a glass of Col de salicin rose Spumante. It was perfect! I am gluten, dairy, and egg free and most of the time it can present challenges at places. The waiter was patient, creative, knowledgeable, and went to the cook to clarify the possibilities for the menu. This place was very willing to be flexible with most dishes that were already gluten free to make them egg free and/or dairy free as needed. Since it was early in the afternoon, I chose the Crispy Brussels without the cheese and sauce. The waiter brought the guacamole and a vinaigrette as alternatives and it was delectable. Why is it that a restaurant aces Brussels every time but when I make them it smells and tastes like asshole? The other items that could be offered also looked good, the tables were intimate, and the downtown location was just right. A great place to meet up with an old friend, a girlfriend, go on a date, or date yourself with a book. Anyways, I am so happy to have another contender to add to my list for my food sensitivities. I've been a Crush fan for years. Came on Friday night and planned to get my favorite -- the butter chicken -- the fantastic server suggested I try a new menu item: the Veggie Wellington. She was right! Yum! Don't let the vegetarian dish fool you -- this is rich and flavorful. Portobello mushroom, butternut squash, caramelized onions and more layered in a puff pastry all on a bed of deliciousness with a side of perfectly cooked broccolini. It's the kind of dish that I think would be great to split and then added a couple of small plates from the menu. I feel like this place is pretty solid! We have now been twice. Both times their staff is always professional and accommodating! Big plus there. :) It's a wine bar, but there isn't a wine bottle menu. But all glasses that you see on the menu can come by the bottle. Their food is good too! We've had the duck ramen, butter chicken, rigatoni, pork belly, gnocchi, crab & artichoke dip, prosciutto wrapped dates, and deviled eggs. All great! Best food in Anchorage! Flavorful dishes and simply put: THE QUALITY IS THERE. I've tried a bunch of tapas, like the Fry Bread, Deviled Eggs, and Prosciutto wrapped Dates, all if with were a hit to my friends and I. The Goat Cheese salad was refreshing and delicious, and the Falafel salad hit the Mediterranean flavor notes too. The cocktails were also phenomenal; really on point with their flavor descriptions. We're in town for our honeymoon and saw great reviews here so we decided to come by for dinner. We were told they couldn't seat us because they were far too busy and had lots of reservations booked. We said ok, left our number on the waitlist, and sat outside by the patio seating just to enjoy the music and views. Not many people were seated, and they called us in less than 40 minutes later. When we sat down, the hostess did not clarify if she was also our waitress or not, did not offer us anything to drink, and returned shortly with water. When she returned she did not say anything to us and left one menu for the two of us to share. We decided what we were planning to order, and waited for at least 15 minutes with no one coming to the table. Finally our waitress came and asked if we wanted a drink, but did not apologize for the wait. I've never done this before, but we decided to simply leave. The service was held to incredibly low standards and none of the staff was even polite about it. I've worked in service industry and would have been fired for this. We would have enjoyed the menu, but the introduction set the stage and we went elsewhere for dinner. read more

Checked out crush bistro's, new location. Was a light after work stop in, for appetizers and wine. We had the prosciutto dates, which have always been my favorite and they still are! You can get as many as you want at $3.50 each, i always start with two at least. Then, the deviled eggs, which are kn they small plates app's and come with 3, and my favorite dish on the appetizers was the mac and cheese! Was super tasty! I could of easily done a another. Then finished with their dessert featured special with pistachio, strawberries, granola, marshallow topping ... It was great! I had a glass of La Flor red wine and a glass of Vietti moscato! Our server was cortney and she was a really sweet and good server. Will be excited to come back for dinner next! read more

The food and cocktails could not have been better. I feel like this is the hardest part, so congrats! The service was horrible. Our waitress must be someone's niece/wife/girlfriend. There is no way she was hired out of a panel of applicants. She never introduced herself, so sadly, we can't complain about her by name. She was bothered even to tell us the specials. We once asked her for something that required a hair of an extra step, and you would think we asked for the moon. On top of it all, we had the forethought to choose the restaurant for a 40th birthday out of all the restaurants in Anchorage. We made a note of it on the reservation. It was not even mentioned once. No one is expecting a complimentary dessert, but the recognition of a special occasion should be the minimum at this caliber of restaurant. We would have spent twice as much if we had not been made to feel like a bother. Sadly we will not be back or recommend you to others. So much potential, but you fall short. read more

The combination of zucchini noodles, salmon, puréed cauliflower, and sherry sauce together was truly a winner and we eat out a lot!! Chef Rob hit it out of the park tonight.
