    CBG Burger

Came the first time for the beer came back for the food! The CBG smash burger was perfect! The fries were golden brown delicious. Couldn't ask for better service at the bar. And of course extra points for the Lego beer menu!

A brewery off the main drag in Downtown Chicago...we had to check it out!! Located on the second level with the AMC theater, this brewery and restaurant is a tucked away oasis! Plenty of tables and bar seating, this casual spot was perfect for a break from the hustle. We were really drawn to the artwork and whimsy of it all! Our server was a bit short and non-present but it didn't ruin the experience. They have a good variety of seasonal and all the time brews! We had their Black Lager and IPA, both of which were refreshing! Nothing crazy to write home about, but good sippers! Worth a stop for sure!

What a lifesaver this place was! We were looking for a place to sit down and have a meal on a Saturday night after driving into town. We were greeted at the door by the bartender and told we could sit anywhere besides the booths. We found a table in the bar area and were greeted by Santiago, our fantastic waiter. He was so attentive but gave us space to enjoy our meal. We tried both their seasonal Kolsch and Pilsner and they were so drinkable and went down smooth with our meal. We got the Reuben egg rolls to start and my husband, who is a huge fan of Reuben's said this may be his favorite rendition! He ordered the proclaimed "best burger in Chicago" and agreed it was absolutely delicious. He liked that the bacon was ground into the beef patty for an evenly distributed smoky flavor. I had the falafel wrap which was so good with crisp, cold salad with tzatziki and warm falafel all rolled into a wrap for a delicious, handheld meal. Inside, you can see their beer vats as part of the decor as well as many pieces of artwork featuring their fuzzy Giant. It's a fun atmosphere and I would recommend it! Also, it is conveniently located in the same building as the AMC so you can grab a bite or beer before or after a movie!

I get hesitant with breweries in the city..they're normally not my favorite, but this spot was a pleasant surprise. Their flight has all their beers on tap and all were so good. The wings had just the right amount of crisp & their special ranch was pretty good. Didn't grab a picture of my sons burger, but he devoured it. Service was also very attentive. It's was a nice break during our 1518152 steps that day.

You can find Crushed by Giants at 600 N Michigan 2nd Floor, Chicago, IL 60611 - I believe this is called "Near North Side." I'm not sure about the parking as I spotted it from the street while walking from my hotel on Magnificent Mile to Pizzaria Uno nearby. The Brewery occupies the second floor of a building that also contains an AMC theater - it's easier so spot the red AMC on the white background than the Crushed by GIants graphics. The entry is on N. Michigan and you take an escalator up to the second floor - there are some pretty amazing giant monster graphics to guide you in, and if you hadn't guessed, this is a kaiju (giant monster) inspired brewery. I had 45 minutes to kill so I spent them in Crushed by Giants before continuing to my hotel. Loved pretty much everything about this place - cozy yet very open and airy due to the tall ceilings and windows. Also you can't beat the theme (wished they had some stickers for me to take home). They had 6 beers on tap so ordered a flight and was able to taste them all: * Neon Werewolf NEIPA 6.8% - ABV Nice citrus and tropical fruit hazy, beautiful lacing and well done. Hoppy slightly piney finish. 4/5 * Talos Vienna Lager 5.2% ABV - Well done, bold malty nose with bready and toffee notes, appropriately bitter finish. 4/5 * Goliath's Bane Session IPA 4.2% ABV - Fruity easy drinker with pineapple notes, a bit sweet with fantastic lacing and a slightly perfume hoppy finish. 3.6/5 * Chimera New Zealand Pilsner 5.2% !BV - Light slammable pils with a peachy fruity note, no malts to speak of, dry hoppy finish. 3.8/5 * Banana Bread, At Work Dude! Hefeweizen 5% ABV - Tasty Hef, one of my favorite styles, big banana nose, dry finish and amazing lacing. 4.1/5 * El Cuco Mexican Lager 5.4% ABV - Dark toasted malt body, nutty woody notes in a dry body and bitter finish. 3.6/5 Of these I enjoyed the Banana Bread Hefe the most - I could see myself enjoying one daily. The service was exceptional (I sat at the bar) with enthusiastic servers and very quick responses. I had better beer while in Chicago but for this area of town (which is a bit of a craft beer desert) Crushed by Giants is a winner.

Just a quick review. It's awesome to find a brewery in the middle of the city like this. We stopped by to check it out. They CRUSHED the beer here. On this visit, we had a flight of all 6 beers. The hazy IPA (Neon Werewolf) was easily my favorite. All of them were worthy. We didn't try the food but it looked good on nearby tables. A great vibe and friendly staff..

Saw this brewery on maps near our hotel and decided to give it a try while we waited for a Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness show. So glad we did! Great service, loved the atmosphere and found a new favorite beer- Neon Werewolf Hazy. Amazing! Bought a bunch of 4 packs, alas they are not available outside of ordering through the brewery location. We did not try the food, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked awesome and they were voted one of the best burgers in Chicago, they definitely looked that way! Can't wait to go back and try the food next time we are in town!!

    Cool artwork across the taps

Super chill environment despite the AMC building location. Only had the pastrami egg roll but man was it good and surprisingly juicy! All 6 beers I tried were great, not a weird one in the bunch. Bartenders were solid, no complaints. Looking forward to trying more food next time and more beers.

The mural on the side of the building always captivated me as I would walk out of the parking garage, and I wasn't disappointed in what I discovered. Interesting experience going up an escalator to get inside, I was immediately welcomed in when I peeked in the door. Warm colored wood and lights, huge brewers on the walls. The area was nice and bright with a chill rustic vibe. Limited food menu but was delicious and elevated for its price point, but that's to be expected considering its purpose of it being a brewery. I am a barista so even with my stance on not drinking, I really wanted to try some non-alcoholic options! There weren't too many listed on the menu; two beer options, and an offer to make some of their drinks mocktails, but nothing too extensive. Again, not a complaint! I had a great time and definitely will come back to try some other mocktails whenever I can. Thanks again for the service, everyone was very kind and attentive and answered my questions with no judgment. Very unique place!

Ok beer nothing to write home about. Was expecting more. Wanted to try a brewery based in Chicago and came here. It was in the same building as a amc on the second floor. Place was somewhat spacious with two main rooms and the waitstaff was pleasant. Not what I was expecting as far as a brewery or the experience .

Believe everything is good here but we came for the beers of course. It's certainly the main product made here so why wouldn't it be important. They make more than you can believe which is impressive because there's all kinds of crowds who pass through. For sure everyone wants beer. It's $6 a pint at happy hour. Pretty great for craft beers compared to lots of places it seems. Best one we got was the Bucket Hat. This is a Belgian style witbier. Has notes of bubble gum, coriander, and orange. The food isn't an afterthought so get some of that. It's about $18 for a burger. Vegans have options. Certainly one of these is the Veggie Burger. This is an amazing thing with a spinach patty topped with chipotle tomato marmalade, cremini mushrooms, mixed greens, pickled red onions, and sweet potatoes. All on a fluffy ciabatta bun. The rest of the menu contains meaty stuff. For sure it feels like a place for the hipsters but it's pretty great for anyone. The staff was friendly and took the time to explain how everything works, which I appreciated. Now the food. So good. I have had a favorite taco spot for the past few months, but this place honestly raised the bar. They are known for their fried cheese tacos and they absolutely live up to the hype. The shrimp was delicious and the sauce reminded me of a seafood boil, rich and flavorful. The salsa verde was also great. I also had the fries topped with fried cheese, cilantro, and onions, and they were just as good. Everything smelled amazing and everyone at the table loved their food. One thing I really loved is their drink options. They have great cocktails, but also offer well crafted mocktails that feel just as intentional. On top of that, they have THC and CBD drinks, which really adds to the relaxed, laid back vibe. Overall, it is a great place to sit, hang out, and enjoy good food and drinks for as long as you want. A server brings you upstairs to the dining area. There is a mixture of two and four tops in the space and our table had a handwritten note congratulating us on our anniversary. Our seat allowed both of us to have a view of the kitchen window to watch the chefs prep courses. There were 3-4 servers that serviced the entire dining room and rotated in presenting dishes. They started with warm towelettes to wash your hands which was a nice touch. Service level throughout was impeccable with water refills, explaining the menu, delightful demeanor, fresh silverware per course, and wiping the table clean from anything that dropped. This was certainly one of the best hospitality levels at a one star I've experienced. Dinner was 12 courses including the amuse-bouche and final treats. I planned to dine at Au Cheval for Sunday lunch and unfortunately there weren't any reservations available on Resy for lunchtime when I checked. Of note, Resy charges $2.50 per person to book the reservation which does not go towards the bill. After looping around for parking and finding a metered spot, I checked in at the restaurant shortly after 11:30am and was told I was 28th in line and the host could not quote a wait time due to the inclusion of online reservations. I thought that was a bit odd so I ended up walking around to explore the surrounding businesses. I finally received a text that my table was ready around thirty minutes later. The restaurant itself is not big but gives off an old fashioned vibe which I guess correlated with the type of food served. I ordered a single cheeseburger, a side of thick cut peppered bacon, and a side of French fries. I figured it was more economical to order a side of bacon rather than adding it to my burger so I can eat as much or as little as I wanted. The food came around fifteen minutes later. The burger itself did not look as big on the plate as I expected, although it was apparent how thick the two hamburger patties were. Since everyone was raving about the burger I had high expectations which unfortunately were not met. The burger tasted like a burger found at any average diner across the country. The bacon pieces were thick and flavorful but I don't think they elevated the burger as much as I'd like. Also, I wished there were cheese options rather than offering only American cheese which is probably the cheapest cheese that can be added on a burger. The fries reminded me of In-N-Out fries but the fries at the bottom of the cup were way too salty as if all the salt was added to the bottom of the cup instead of trickling down after being sprinkled on the fries on top. Considering all the hype about Au Cheval and the claims that their cheeseburger is one of the best burgers in the country or world, I was very underwhelmed. If this burger were to represent the Chicago food scene on a national level, it should rank lower than several other major cities in the United States.
