I am a pizza snob. This place is pretty good. I thought the pizza was quite good (we had sevral thin crust pizza's). We found the service to be fine and the staff to be nice (not totally attentive but nice). I was disappointed that there were not additional items on the menu beside the pizza. I usually like a salad to go along with my pie. The pizza is a little more expenseive than the typical Hollander may like. But, this place is not Jet's, it is good pizza. Ordered cheese breadsticks and 12 inch Chicago deep dish sawzall pizza and 5 inch all meat pizza. The breadsticks came out and were very good! Then the Sawzall pizza came and it was cold and vegetables were still uncooked. The meat pizza came out steaming hot. We told the server about the pizza and the said they would put it back in the oven. Being a cook myself I new this was not going to be the same with all the filling spilling out. So the put it back in the oven, brought it back. The filling was warmer however veggies were not done and the crust was hard because of the rebake. We just asked for our money back on the big pizza, even though they offered to give us a gift card for a free pizza and eat the one they reheated. I am very pleased with my experience at Crust 54. The pizza was delicious and the staff very friendly. The thing that impressed me most was their professionalism when handling my allergy. I cannot have dairy or olive oil at all. With most places this doesn't work because they have olive oil somewhere in their food. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered vegan pizza (even vegan cheese if your into that i.e. Daiya) but also offered to make a special sauce so it would not have the olive oil in it. Ok so I grew up in North Jersey, I could see the twin towers from the cul de sac at the end of our street and I lived on pizza growing up. This isn't NY pizza but it tastes good and the crust isn't lame, in fact I enjoyed it. We had the pepperoni thin crust and a Chicago style spinach pie and both were quite good. If I were to speak for myself, my food was delicious. I came at lunchtime and saved a dollar with the lunch special. The food is so good and has a great value. However, my friends both had small issues with their food. From what I observed each pizza is different and the batches can vary. My friend also waited 20 minutes for her salad. New favorite pizza place in the Holland area. The sauce rocks my world. I thought Village Inn and Vitales were my favs. Well, let's say this sauce is the Boss and there is a new favorite in town. The Chicago style spinach pizza was surprisingly very fulfilling and satisfying. There was feta, which I love, and artichokes, which I also love. I've also had the regular Chicago style with sausage, green peppers, mushrooms, onion and pepperoni. I've also tried their regular style pizza with the same toppings. They use fresh mushrooms, which is my personal choice but I think you have a choice between canned. They also use fresh sausage - no crummy spongy mystery sausage marbles - yuck! Their side salads are incredibly fresh and large. Easy to split with 2-4 people. I forgot to mention their refreshing Rosemary lemonade mmmm so good! So good. If you dine in, they have basil flavored olive oil from Fustini's (block away) at the table to dip you crust or pizza in. I buy these flavored oils all the time. They make a world of difference in cooking and flavor of simple foods. This place is not skipping out on anything! read more

This pizza is pretty good. We order double sausage and the sausage is really good but even with double there's hardly any meat on the pizza. And the sauce taste like it's paste out of a can. Can't they make a tasty sauce? And they are so disorganized. We ordered a pizza and went to pick it up and they hadn't even started it last summer. I tried calling the number on Washington last night to order and waited more than 5 minutes. I called back and she said she knew I was waiting but she had to get someone there silverware and napkins. We visited awhile back for the gluten free deep dish pizza. Having been gluten free for two years, having deep dish again was AMAZING. It was delicious. There was another family in at the same time as us and their son had several food allergies (including a gluten intolerance) - the staff was clearly very accommodating for him which made me happy to support the business. Very good deep dish. I had the carnivore - Italian sausage, pepperoni, ham and bacon. Very good. I also sampled the thin crust pepperoni and that was good as well. The lunch special is very good, only 6 bucks for a deep dish slice or two think crust slices and a drink. The thin crust are huge slices. Also, they allowed me to substitute an Arnold Palmer for a drink since I don't drink pop. The location is a little small and we had to bus our own table. The food made up for that. read more

We came here for dinner and my husband was disappointed to see they didn't sell beer so the cashier suggested that they could deliver our pizza at the Brewery on the next block over. So we ordered and walked to the Brewery. It wasn't long before she brought the pizza down along with plates and napkins. Such a great idea and it worked out well for our family. The pizza was good. Great location, with a clean and nice atmosphere. Have tried two different pizzas now, and unfortunately neither time was very impressed. The cheese breadsticks are very good, and fairly priced. The pizzas, however, seem to be overpriced for their taste. Ingredients seem to be a little bland and do not create an outstanding flavor. Sauce and overly large cut vegetables seem to overwhelm flavor. Both the hand tossed and deep dish, were better when reheated as leftovers than in the actual restaurant. Still worth visits, but just expect it to be pricey and expect not to be super impressed. For a better deep dish, try Giordanos. read more

This place was pretty darn cute! We didn't order pizza so I can't comment on that, we did however order pasta. I ordered the gluten free ziti, my friend ordered farfalle and we both had the bolognese sauce. We also ordered a side garden salad each. Both of our salads were extremely fresh, attractive and tasty. The bolognese sauce on the pasta was delish, not too sour or sweet. It had the perfect seasoning. The only thing I would advise is that when dealing with a gluten free order, putting a breadstick on the plate next to the gluten free pasta does not make sense. Otherwise we were totally happy with our meal. In fact, was surprised to read the negative reviews here because the service we received was so polite and efficient. We had pizza by the slice for lunch. The slices are huge. The crust was pretty good although it was a bit too chewy as though it sat too long in the warming oven. Nov. 24, 2012 arrival 6:15p depart 7:30p My first visit was a poor experience; order was placed by my first name and was told take 15 minutes to bake the pizza. Another customer had just finished ordering the same pizza (but larger pie size) when our pizza came out of the oven. Our pizza was given to the customer who just ordered. These girls don't pay attention to the customers. Eventually the employee realized she made a mistake and came to let us know (like we already did not know!). The other customer's knew that was not their pizza but ate it anyway and told us (while smiling) "sorry". They were not sorry. The employee told us they would put a rush on their (now our pizza) but you cannot rush baking time. When our pizza was finally delivered 45 minutes after ordering, I asked the girl (employee) if we would get a free pizza for the mistake I received the typically reply; the manger just left. What a cheap excuse. Funny twist to this drama is the owner was a former manager at 84 East in downtown Holland. You think he would have trained his little girls (employees) better on how to handle issues correctly. The owner's daughter was working and sat back and watched these issues occur. Their customer service is extremely poor. They have not been trained on how to handle customers and ordering. Attention to detail (like who ordered what) is missing. As for the pizza stealers where are your morals (whose first name is Greg) - how would YOU like this to happen to you ? Someday - you will reap what you sow. Just a matter of time !!
