Talk about great places that have great owners. For my birthday, my co-workers (our office is a few buildings down from Crust 54) got me a deep dish pizza. I know deep dish pizza from years in Chicago and I can tell you that this birthday lunch was one of the best ever. Every time I have been in there I have been treated with respect and friendly atmosphere. I don't judge a place by their decor - their food has nothing to do with religious artifacts and symbols on the wall. Fact is - TALENT and creativity. Had pizza there a few months ago. The place had a nice atmosphere & easy payment via their iPad that they had hooked up to their POS system. Yes this is a specialty pizza parlor, however for the price it's definitely NOT worth the money. We can go to any of the franchised pizza joints & get a better pizza for a heck of a lot cheaper. Either bring the prices down to compete with the local franchises or start doing delivery to all of Holland. If you're a specialty pizza parlor, then you should make an effort to deliver everywhere & not just to the local college. Bring prices down & start delivery services!!! read more

This place is a new favorite for us. We eat pizza weekly and will drive from Grand Rapids regularly to eat here. It started with friendly service. It is obvious the family takes great pride in what they do. They also keep their restaurant and restrooms very clean which is much appreciated. We had the cheese sticks and pizza and both were fabulous. We ended with the chocolate chip cookie and ice cream. Everything about this place is fantastic and we look forward to being regulars here. Pizza was good. Their special cheese they use could have been kraft, I couldn't tell the difference. And the young girl behind the counter was cold and rude. Very disappointed by Gluten Free Pizza (too hard) and wings were so-so. No adult beverages and floor was dirty. Staff was friendly and helpful - location was kid friendly but this does not make up for food. We have $10 off coupon to use here and would rather let it go to waste. read more

Stopped by here for lunch with my kids today and was happy to eat a delicious gluten free pizza- I ordered the thin crust supreme. The crust was so crunchy and crispy! The atmosphere was nice, but very casual. Order at the register, pick up a number and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. It was difficult to find seating for 5, so we squeezed into a booth for 4. The Greek salad was great -- very large, fresh ingredients. The wings were decent, but nothing to write home about. Server forgot to give us ranch, so I had to track that down. Pizza was delicious. I wish they served beer -- would have completed the package. More outdoor seating would have been nice, too. We all met a business client here for dinner. Pizza just sounded good to everybody today. This place, as well as others have come recommended by the locals. I have to say it was a good call. Our pizza was awesome, best I have had in some time. And...it wasn't even the deep dish. The deep dish takes about 45 minutes or so to bake as opposed to the thin crust at 15-20 minutes to bake. I myself leave Friday for home, but will pester the boys to come back and have the deep dish...which they did want tonight if it didn't take so long. Atmosphere was very classic and nice, but not too much sit down space. Kept clean. The menu is substantial and they have good, cheap lunch deals. I was very happy with our experience here, so much that I would give it a 4.5/5 if I could. However, I am a purist when it comes to Chicago deep dish, so I couldn't in good conscience. However, the deep dish was fairly priced, and they even let me sub-out one of the options for the premium pizza, because my wife and I don't eat pork. Normally, it's kind of a hassle to have restaurants swap out ingredients in menu items, but the people at Crust 54 made it a painless experience. The pizza came out after 35 min, just enough time to play a few rounds of mobi, and they even served the first slices out to us. I would say that their size recommendation was a bit off, 14'' was a bit more than four people could eat (2 guys, 2 gals). But the pizza was delicious and worth the money and wait. read more

My husband and I are from Chicago, are very skeptical about any pizza called "Chicago style" outside of Chicago, and we LOVED their Chicago style deep dish! The pizza here is good. We only had thin crust and my wife and I enjoyed it. The people here however are exceptional. We rolled in after closing time, weary from the road trip. Instead of turning us away they made a fresh pie and kids pasta that my fickle eating 2 year old devoured. If you have worked in a restaurant you know how annoying that last family that rolls in at closing time can be. You are trying to clean up, prep and go see your own family. They were well within their rights to show us the door since the "closed" sign was up. Instead they were extremely accommodating and courteous. We were very grateful for their kindness. Go here. The best pizza I've ever eaten. The carnivore is loaded with meat. I love how the cheese and meat are under the sauce. The sauce is just the right amount of sweet. The crust is very good. Sometimes the outer crust is too well done and hard so I don't eat it but most of the time it is a wonderful addition to the pizza. I eat it like I would a bread stick. I probably need to try some of their other pizza's but for now, I'll stick to what I know I love, the carnivore. Two slices at that. I even will have their diet Pepsi and I'm not a Pepsi drinker but theirs has the right balance of carbonated water and syrup from the soda dispenser. read more

Excellent pizza! The deep dish meaty option was amazing and the thin crust was baked to perfection. Just be warned that the thin crust is thicker than what we would consider traditional thin crust, but it was so good that our thin crust connoisseurs didn't even complain. The Chicago deep dish my husband and I ordered was the best pizza we've ever had. I still crave it and can't wait to visit Holland again so I can eat at Crust 54. The salad was great too and got us through the 45 minute wait until our pizza was ready. It's worth the wait! It was also a busy day because it was in the middle of summer. The sauce is amazing. We even bought a cooler to keep the leftovers in until we could get it home after our weekend getaway. It's that good. read more
