Have been there 3 times We had the pesto on thin crust and spinach stuffed Chicago deep dish pizza. Both were excellent, the sauces and the crusts were perfect. 2 of the times we called ahead and they were ready right on time. Keep up the good work! So.. I didn't want to even give this a star but anyway.. The food.. Okay.. Nothing special like they crack it up to be.. the place down the street.. East 84? MUCHHHHHH BETTER... and WORTH the money.. this place was a little overpriced for their "artisans" pizza... (looks like most of the ingredients are canned.. if not.. they sit WAY too long.. and VERY Chewy dough etc)... but none the least.. edible i guess? Its a really cute place.. but honestly that's about all it has going for it... is Holland.. the SERVICE... HA... it was like walking into a detention room in a high school... no one was really in charge... The kids were RUDE and seemed to lack people skills. and didn't seem to want to be working.. instead running and giggling in the back etc...at least one of the girls just DOWN RIGHT REEKED of smoke. ... and the cleanliness... was enough for me to notice something.. Terrible! Service was awful. We ordered 2 pizzas and we waited approximately one hour. When the pizzas were placed on the table we were horrified...crust was made from a box, looked like cardboard. the arugula pizza has iceberg lettuce on it instead of the arugula. the woman working there told us that is didn't matter because it's all lettuce and it wouldn't change the taste. She didn't offer to make us a different one, only tried to play me for a fool. the other pizza was all canned toppings. A pizza made from a frozen crust and canned toppings should not take 1 hour to make. Very disappointing. Will never return. read more

Crust54 was a huge disappointment. I gave it two chances and will not be going back ever again. The first time I ordered pizza with a friend and both slices were flavorless, greasy and luke warm. The second trip I made I ordered a cobb salad. The server reached into their cooler and pulled out a Styrofoam box with my salad. (The lid was down so I could not see what I was getting.) I paid, sat down and found that my cobb salad (which is supposed to have bacon, avocado, tomato, egg and onion) was really a massive amount of slimy ham, turkey an chicken strips sitting on a very small bed of iceberg lettuce. It was so unappetizing, I couldn't even look at it and I don't want to even think about how long it was sitting in that cooler for. Maybe days. Was in Holland for an interview and looked to Siri for a pizza restaurant. Thankful I was sent here. Was told the restaurant had only been open for 6 weeks, so there are a few hiccups here and there, but overall the place is great! Very simple menu and the pizza by the slice for lunch was great! Definitely worth trying if given the chance. read more

I was torn on how many stars to give them because the pizza was very good but the service was terrible. We ordered a pizza that the menu stated had chicken on it but it came out with shrimp, when we brought it to the attention of the server all she said was "oh, that's because it's how we used to make it." We went here after I attended a ceremony where I received U.S. citizenship. I always wanted to try deep-dish pizza. Plus, they offer gluten-free pizza crust and dairy-free cheese. A friend who was with us can't have wheat or dairy. Well, our friend said it was the BEST gluten and dairy free pizza he ever had. He said most gluten-free crusts are not crispy but, the one at Crust54 was and it was amazing. Me and my partner had to wait a little longer for our deep dish pizzas but, it was well worth the wait. I am picky about pizza sauce and thought they might put too much. But, it was perfect and was so good with a slight sweetness to it. My partner and I got the Doman (chicken-barbecue) and Chicago style (I added Italian sausage to mine too... and they were huge chunks!). The crust was amazing and so were the toppings and sauce. We all left, swearing it was the best pizzas we've ever had!!! read more

I tried your pizza for the first time this past weekend. I ordered pizza for pick up over the phone and was told there was an hour and 15 minute wait. That was fine because I had already read there was a 45 minute order time for it. I called during the busy time on a Saturday Night so that was to be expected. I went about 15 minutes early for pick up and was driving in the parking lot when I received a phone call that said my pizza was ready early! I really appreciated the phone call and it worked out great! Grabbed the pizza and thought this was a HEAVY pizza and headed to take it home. I placed it on the front passenger seat of my car and set my purse on top of it. I usually set my purse on that seat with no incident. As I started driving off my passenger seat belt warning light came on. I started to laugh as I realized the pizza was so heavy that it caused the warning to come on because it thought someone was sitting in the seat! The pizza toppings and bulk of the pizza was great! We ordered a Chicago style crust and the thickest part was okay but a little too chewy. I have to say we recently tried a Pizza Hut pizza and ordered a Deluxe. I think I found 2 pieces of sausage on my piece of pizza and maybe two pepperoni's since they change to their $10 pizza special. I mean Pizza Hut has no comparison to Crust 54 but that tells you what they are doing, cheaper pizza an no toppings. Crust 54 hit the mark on the sauce, toppings, and total overall! read more

This is a follow up review to an earlier post. I wanted to give 3.5 stars for this visit, a much improved experience from the two star review I placed earlier. The pizzas (one thin, one deep dish) were much better this time around. Not as salty as the last visit. Still too salty, but much more edible. Service was actually pretty good, although there was a lack of real adult supervision. We will go back for pizza another time to continue to see the place evolve. read more

My husband and I ate here on a weekend and we ordered a couple pieces by the slice. We had those quickly along with two drinks and sat outside on a beautiful day. Despite sitting outside the staff was still very attentive offering to clear our plates. The pizza here is a great, I love the sauce. The crust is awesome...so awesome that I ate it! Best pizza I've had in years, topped off with excellent customer service. Due to no fault of their own, we initially thought I ordered a pizza from their other location. Since we were dining in with friends, the manager offered to drive across town and bring it back to us. Turns out I messed up when ordering online and never completed the order, so they rushed a new deep dish for us and kept our friend's pizzas in the warmers while we waited. I've gotten a variety of loaves of bread from Crust 54 since they've opened. They were really good--especially the baguette and the ciabatta loaf, although the last time I stopped in, the Italian table bread seemed very dried out. I sent them a Facebook message, and the owner, Frank, responded to my message apologizing that I had a bad experience. He offered to replace the loaf for free the next time I stopped by. The next time we went back, they offered to warm it up and call me when it was ready. (We were walking around the downtown shops.) Although it may seem like the employees at the front counter can be abrupt at times, in my experience, the owner will follow through on fixing the problem as long as he is made aware of it. Food is fantastic here! Great pizza and the portions are really great here. They have a great variety of toppings here too including prosciutto! I've had nothing but good experiences with service here. Also, try the soups; they're great as well! Only problem is it's a little small in there so it might not be too great for large groups of people. One of my favorite places in downtown Holland. read more

My daughter has been begging us to try Crust 54 since it opened. After trying it this evening, we will not be going back. My daughter wanted a piece of pepperoni pizza out of the warmer and it was hard and gross. My husband and I ordered a pepperoni, sausage, mushroom and green pepper pizza. While I loved that the ingredients were fresh, we all thought the crust was terrible. It was tough and tasted like frozen pizza crust. The pizza had very little flavor and was so bland. We had to put the crushed pepper and Parmesan cheese all over it. Good pizza would not require either of those. The blonde behind the counter did not wear gloves when she made a sandwich and sneezed several times without washing her hands. Then the owner (or I believe it was the owner) got in a fight with an employee (perhaps his daughter). The daughter ended up going out and slamming the door. Not professional on either of their parts. The "salad bar" was pretty pathetic and was not even really a salad bar. I witnessed a couple whose order had never been put in. They ended up giving the couple the pizza for free but the owner still charged them for the drinks. Really??!! You made them wait forever because of your employee's mistake and you couldn't give them two free sodas?? There are better restaurants in Holland. We spent $30 and it was not worth one penny. On a side note, I do like the fact that they help rehabilitate ex-prisoners. Kudos to Crust 54 for helping those in need. read more

It seems that when ever I read reviews on Yelp they are always negative no matter what the business. I would like to try to change that for this restaurant. I went there yesterday and got a large Sawzall Chicago "Stuffed" Pizza. It was the best I ever had and I lived in Chicago and had Chicago style pizza many times! I ordered ahead because I know that those type of pizzas take a long time to cook! When I got there to pick it up I was greated like I was one of the family. They were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is cozy and very eye appealing! I took the pizza back to my office where my staff had a little Christmas party and it was a big hit! That is 4 people giving it a 5 star rating! It was summed up best by one of our staff that said "If you could take a labor of love and put it on a plate, it would be Crust 54's Sawz-All stuffed pizza..." BTW in Chicago pizza tis "stuffed" not "deep". There is a difference. Two thumbs up to Frank % Cathy! read more

Incredible I was shocked to see the low reviews - OK, maybe their service can at times be unimpressive, but honestly, if you are looking for service, try Butch's or Alpen Rose down the street - with a much bigger tab, too. Reasons number one, two, and three for going to a pizza place are the quality of the product, and these pies rock! Perhaps other reviews are commenting on the by-the-slice, which can be a little crusty after sitting under the lamp for a while, but compare that to Little Caesars or the gas station which will give you crusty bad pizza, vs crusty awesome pizza at Crust54. You'll pay more for the pizza here than other places in town, but it is more than worth the price. Parking downtown can be challenging, especially for take out - but again, well worth the hassle. I average 1 pie/or slice a week here since they opened, and they have been consistent quality wise. A welcome addition to Holland read more

I know Chicago Pizza since I lived on Army Trail and was happy when Giordano's opened in Holland. However was not able to get in and went to Crust 54 instead. Were able to walk right in vs having to wait about 1 hour just to be seated at Giordano's THIS WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is more like Geno's East rather than a stuffed pie. The ingredients were very flavorful. The sauce had a just picked tomato taste and the sausage was wonderful. The crust used a very good olive oil and had a flakiness on the back edge like a fine croissant. They do have Fustini's Olive oil at the table which shows they are truly into flavor. Only downfall is ordering at a counter and the ambiance is lame, but the pizza may be better than any other Chicago style in the area. There was a taste test by the Holland Sentinel that also made this claim as well! I would suggest to also have honey at the table to make the back crust a dessert. This was so good I am eating the leftovers at 6:00 AM on a Saturday morning while writing this review. read more
