Visited Crust on a Thursday night at 7pm and I was welcomed with a warm smile and staff eager to help me. I ordered 2 Margherita Pies and a Bianca with added sausage. The wood fired pies came out in a bout 15 minutes and they were absolutely delicious. The crust was exactly how I like it and the cheese and toppings were perfect as well. They only do one size pie but they can serve 1 to 2 people easily. I look forward to coming back many many times to try more of their delicious sounding pies. My only wish is that they would deliver all the way to my home i Brentwood. :) Keep up the good work Crust, I will be back. read more

This place promises the moon and the stars with delicious Persian flavors but gives you a mouthful of utterly bland flavors. We had the hummus, grape leaves, arugula salad, and the Lamb Sabzi and did pickup. None of it was good. The pita that came with the hummus was stale. The hummus wasn't fresh, was separating, and didn't have a hint of garlic. The grape leaves were mush and drenched in vinegar. The arugula salad had a "homemade honey balsamic" that tasted like straight balsamic. The Lamb Sabzi meat was fatty and grisly, the rice stale, and the grilled veggies dry and flavorless. We didn't get halfway through our meal before throwing it all the way and ordering from some place else. The only thing positive about this place is the decor, the nice staff, and the fact that our order was ready on time. I would absolutely not go back here even if someone else was paying for the meal. read more

I was really excited to try Crust out- I'd been waiting for it to open for months since I live in the area. I've tried out several of the other "different" pizza places around- Peace A Pizza, Bake 425, etc., and unfortunately I still prefer Dominos pizza to any of these. I was hoping Crust would be different, but it looks like the Bryn Mawr-area Main Line might have yet another mediocre specialty pizza shop to add to the list. I mean, don't get me wrong- these places don't suck, by any means, but none of them exactly WOW me either. The GOOD: 1) Pizza is good. It is. Obviously since this is "Crust Neapolitan Brick Oven Pizzeria" don't expect a typical Italian[-American] pizza like you would at Cenzo's or something. 2) Unique toppings. A little disappointed I couldn't order a basic Pepperoni pizza here, although they've added it to their menu since I've been there. 3) They now offer gluten-free, which is a plus in my book. I'm a fan of healthy alternatives. I haven't tried this dough yet. 4) Ambiance works. Casual, relaxed setting. The BAD: 1) Staff was not knowledgeable, not particularly friendly, and seemed really bored and unhappy to be working there. I think they're Mediterranean Grill employees who were forced into working at the boss' new pizza shop next door, and were probably unhappy to be serving pizza rather than making tips off of Mediterranean Grill's clientele. (Pure speculation, mind you) 2) Things seemed disorganized. Staff seemed confused. I chalk this up to how new this shop was. This probably shouldn't be held against them. Will update next time I give it another go. 3) They didn't have any cannolis when I went :( Again, probably because I went when they were so new. Then again, don't open if you're not ready!! 4) Overpriced, imho. Summary: I couldn't decide between 3 or 4 stars. Definitely not a contender for 5 stars. I'm sure I'll go again, at some point, when I feel like overpaying for an average pizza. Usually I prefer to underpay for a yummy pizza, hence my affection for Dominos. Don't hate. read more

Some of my least favorite pizza yet... The outside decor of this pizza joint indicated to me that it was something to take note of. The sign is sort of cute and rustic, with lights around the text of the sign and an "old" feel to the store front. I walked in excited for some great pizza and boy, was I wrong! First of all, my friend and I were the ONLY people in the place and the waitress took out order (she was pleasant but we saw her on her phone a good deal) and it took THIRTY FIVE MINUTES for the pizza to come out....I'll let that sink in. For "fresh" "homemade" pizza should thirty five minutes be the length of time for a pizza to be baked if we are the only ones in the place? NOPE! The pizza came out and honestly, it looked pretty boring. We got the margarita one and the ratio of cheese to sauce was way off (not enough cheese) and the pieces of basil were wilted and soggy, and looked like they had been ripped by hand and thrown on. Besides being scarce, the cheese wasn't seasoned enough. The sauce was nothing of note, it wasn't horrible but it was a tad sweet and tasted like canned sauce. There were no herbal notes or flavor nuances. The worst part for me, the part that ruined the pizza, was the crust. The texture and taste of the crust was like old cardboard! No flavor, no chewiness, no depth. I was REALLY disappointed with this place and will not be visiting again. read more

Like the other reviewers, I decided to try crust because it's marketed as a "unique" pizza place. I'm pointing this out because the following review is NOT because I wanted this place to taste like dominos. It was, in fact, far worse than any dominos nightmare I could have imagined. We live about a half mile from the place and ordered delivery. When it arrived, the delivery person was visibly annoyed that I didn't bring a pen with me when I came downstairs to meet her at the front door of our building. She didn't have one. We ordered two individual size pizzas, which were around 10" in diameter - about what I expected. They were cold - as in, so cold the tomato sauce (visible through the sparse cheese) was dull and congealed on the top. The pizza was Margherita style, so the cheese was cut into chunks rather than shredded. The chunks were so thin you could see the tomato sauce underneath. There were so few chunks that one piece had no cheese at all. The crust - which you would expect to be phenomenal at this place - was burnt around the edges, undercooked in the middle, and literally about 2 mm thick. All in all, we were very disappointed with our order. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

This place may be a pizza place but it's definitely not a Persian restaurant. They're Shirazi salad isn't in any shape or form a salad, they're ghormeh sabzi and eggplant were bland and watery. They clearly don't use proper ingredients to cook these authentic dishes and they charge $23 for the smallest serving dish as if it's gourmet. Pepperoni pizza was quite good. Salad was pretty good. Coke products. But, did I see someone say friendly service? I don't recall the last time I've been to a pizza place with such surly servers. They must be daughters of the pizza makers. There was no danger of any of them cracking a smile either. It was getting into the busy time on a Friday night. Maybe they were a server short (maybe not; it is not a large place). We had dinner here last week, but have been coming to Crust for years. It's our favorite Bryn Mawr restaurant. Although called a pizzeria they also serve excellent Middle Eastern cuisine. We had a salad (generous size and very fresh), dolmas, and fesenjan (a stew of chicken or lamb with pomegranate-walnut sauce served over rice) - highly recommended. It's a bring your own wine establishment. Service is friendly and attentive and prices are very reasonable. read more

I don't think it's fair to give bad reviews during a National pandemic. Hopefully this will wake these guys up. I've been here twice pre pandemic and recently. I don't know about the pizza side of the business but they do advertise Persian food. Truth is this was the worst Persian food I've ever had, both times! Rice was old and stale , koobideh (skewered beef and onion kabob)was half burnt and dry yet the other half somehow uncooked. Tahdig is supposed to be crunchy not soggy with kidney bean paste, eggplant is supposed to have the the white condensed paste with olive oil and garlic....not eggplants in a vita mix lol. This place was awful pre pandemic with bad meat and it has only gone downhill. Check out the pic and tell me what you think. This is the second time I got ripped off here. I tried calling them but they wouldn't answer the phone. Honestly, what do you say when they do answer. If you don't care about what comes out of your kitchen than all You can do is let everyone else know. This food does is an insult to good Persian food. Very pricey, disappointing and disaster. This might sound harsh but the Persian food here was really awful. Who puts a half uncooked, half burnt skewer of ground beef. Do you know the difference between pita bread and cut burrito wrap??? If your going with a group of friends, the wait can be significantly long, I would rather wait in line for a Taylor Swift concert for at least an hour than wait for my cold stale pizza. read more

1 word: ugh. 1. Service: The server we had must have had short term memory, he kept forgetting what we ordered literally a minute after we told him. At least write it down if you can't remember! Not to mention, the workers were talking to each other loudly about Captain America. I'm pretty sure they got some of the comic store workers next door to come waiter! No one was dressed like a waiter, I couldn't have told you who was doing what. 2. Sucky food. My friend and I split a caprese sandwich and a Mediterranean pizza. The caprese sandwich was a sad thing. The bread tasted old, at least they could have toasted it up. It was flavorless. I couldn't believe it! The pizza had soggy center syndrome which I can't stand. Toppings were very salty. Crust wasn't flavorful. Bottom line: it sucked. The only good thing was their iced tea, which was fresh brewed. At least that was okay. They don't make their lemonade fresh, though. 3. Seating is annoying. It's like the other reviewer said, cafeteria style. Yuck. Bottom line: Don't go here. If you want a sandwich, go down to Milkboy. I'm always willing to try a new pizza place in the area and was hoping Crust would be a step above the other choices in Bryn Mawr. Unfortunately that really wasn't the case for a few reasons: 1. We were seated and they had to wait at least 8 minutes before anyone came to our table. This is not a big restaurant and there was no reason why it took this long for someone to acknowledge us. 2. My drink came with a huge chunk of ice in it, how difficult would it have been to break up the ice before you put it into a glass? 3. The pizza was just O.K. It was under-seasoned and the dough tasted like it was frozen rather than fresh dough. It's an Italian style pizza which isn't so easy to find in the area however given the premium prices for their pies it didn't deliver. 4. After our pizza was brought out no one came to our table to ask if we needed anything else. I needed to go up to the counter twice-once to ask for pepper and once for the check. I agree with the other reviewer about the staff-they seemed apathetic. When I went to the counter to ask for our check the woman seemed annoyed that I would be asking at the counter. If someone could do a high quality Italian pizza in the area they could do great, unfortunately Crust isn't that place. read more

Did takeout of their margarita pizza and it was pretty good! I have to say that I'm kind of surprised... for some reason, the restaurant didn't look very appetizing but the pizza itself was different. The sauce was sweet and salty but not too much of either and the mozarella was delicately placed with the basil... Loved it! My wife and I used to eat here when it was the Mediterranean Grill. We haven't had the chance to make it back in person since they changed to Crust but we just tried them again using a delivery service. I'm pleased to say that the food was the same delicious high quality meal we've come to expect from them. I ordered the Soltani II combo, which is one chicken kebab and one beef koobideh kebab served over rice, and my wife had the chicken kebab served over rice along with a Greek salad. We also ordered a small cheese pizza for my mother in law which turned out great. The food was hot when it arrived and well-packed. Definite repeat for us. read more

Let me tell you a story of Crust. 6:48 on a Saturday, I call in for pickup and am told 20 minutes. Go in at 7:15. Still no pizza, they say it will be right out. As I'm waiting I notice them constructing a pizza that looks an awful lot like mine. Turns out it was! They thought you could trick me and not tell me they literally didn't even start it yet. Crust did you expect me to stand there start to finish as you prepared my order that should have been done before? These people are liars and cheats, don't waste your money on pizza made by people who see you only as a dollar sign. Plus the owner keeps tips at the next door restaurant he owns as well. Gross! I have walked past this place several times and always wanted to give it a try. Well... 15 minutes ago I did. The pizza was SO greasy that the crust was just mush. I ate a "gluten-free" pizza here, but it had gluten in it. (I always know when I get glutened, because I wake up with acne the next day). I tried again a few weeks later, once my acne was gone, in case it had been a fluke ... but I got the exact same result the second time too. :( So unfortunately I can't eat here any more. It's a shame because I thought the pizza was good. But I rarely get to eat pizza because of my gluten sensitivity, so I have nothing to compare it to. read more
